There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

Makir, premier-né de Manassé et père de Galaad, avait eu Galaad et Basan, parce qu'il était un homme de guerre. There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.

But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
- Tselophchad, fils de Hépher, fils de Galaad, fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, n'eut point de fils, mais il eut des filles dont voici les noms: Machla, Noa, Hogla, Milca et Thirtsa. And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
- Elles se présentèrent devant le sacrificateur Éléazar, devant Josué, fils de Nun, et devant les princes, en disant: L'Éternel a commandé à Moïse de nous donner un héritage parmi nos frères. Et on leur donna, selon l'ordre de l'Éternel, un héritage parmi les frères de leur père. And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;

Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.

And the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of Entappuah.
- La limite de Manassé s'étendait d'Aser à Micmethath, qui est près de Sichem, et allait à Jamin vers les habitants d'En Tappuach. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη ὅρια υἱω̃ν Μανασση Δηλαναθ ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον υἱω̃ν Αναθ καὶ πορεύεται ἐπὶ τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ Ιαμιν καὶ Ιασσιβ ἐπὶ πηγὴν Θαφθωθ (Ⅲ) - Fuitque terminus Manasse ab Aser, Machmethath quæ respicit Sichem : et egreditur ad dexteram juxta habitatores fontis Taphuæ. Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;

(Ⅱ) - τω̨̃ Μανασση ἔσται καὶ Θαφεθ ἐπὶ τω̃ν ὁρίων Μανασση τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Εφραιμ (Ⅲ) - Etenim in sorte Manasse ceciderat terra Taphuæ, quæ est juxta terminos Manasse filiorum Ephraim. And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:
- La limite descendait au torrent de Kana, au midi du torrent. Ces villes étaient à Éphraïm, au milieu des villes de Manassé. La limite de Manassé au nord du torrent aboutissait à la mer. (Ⅱ) - καὶ καταβήσεται τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ φάραγγα Καρανα ἐπὶ λίβα κατὰ φάραγγα Ιαριηλ τερέμινθος τω̨̃ Εφραιμ ἀνὰ μέσον πόλεως Μανασση καὶ ὅρια Μανασση ἐπὶ τὸν βορρα̃ν εἰς τὸν χειμάρρουν καὶ ἔσται αὐτου̃ ἡ διέξοδος θάλασσα (Ⅲ) - Descenditque terminus vallis arundineti in meridiem torrentis civitatum Ephraim, quæ in medio sunt urbium Manasse : terminus Manasse ab aquilone torrentis, et exitus ejus pergit ad mare : (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃17 וירד הגבול נחל קנה נגבה לנחל ערים האלה לאפרים בתוך ערי מנשה וגבול מנשה מצפון לנחל ויהי תצאתיו הימה (Ⅴ)

Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
- Le territoire du midi était à Éphraïm, celui du nord à Manassé, et la mer leur servait de limite; ils touchaient à Aser vers le nord, et à Issacar vers l'orient. (Ⅱ) - ἀπὸ λιβὸς τω̨̃ Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπὶ βορρα̃ν Μανασση καὶ ἔσται ἡ θάλασσα ὅρια αὐτοι̃ς καὶ ἐπὶ Ασηρ συνάψουσιν ἐπὶ βορρα̃ν καὶ τω̨̃ Ισσαχαρ ἀπ' ἀνατολω̃ν (Ⅲ) - ita ut possessio Ephraim sit ab austro, et ab aquilone Manasse, et utramque claudat mare, et conjungantur sibi in tribu Aser ab aquilone, et in tribu Issachar ab oriente. And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.
- Manassé possédait dans Issacar et dans Aser: Beth Schean et les villes de son ressort, Jibleam et les villes de son ressort, les habitants de Dor et les villes de son ressort, les habitants d'En Dor et les villes de son ressort, les habitants de Thaanac et les villes de son ressort, et les habitants de Meguiddo et les villes de son ressort, trois contrées. Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
- Les fils de Manassé ne purent pas prendre possession de ces villes, et les Cananéens voulurent rester dans ce pays. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνάσθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Μανασση ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι τὰς πόλεις ταύτας καὶ ἤρχετο ὁ Χαναναι̃ος κατοικει̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ ταύτη̨ (Ⅲ) - Nec potuerunt filii Manasse has civitates subvertere, sed cœpit Chananæus habitare in terra sua. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃17 ולא יכלו בני מנשה להוריש את הערים האלה ויואל הכנעני לשבת בארץ הזאת (Ⅴ)

Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.
- Lorsque les enfants d'Israël furent assez forts, ils assujettirent les Cananéens à un tribut, mais ils ne les chassèrent point. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη καὶ ἐπεὶ κατίσχυσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐποίησαν τοὺς Χαναναίους ὑπηκόους ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι δὲ αὐτοὺς οὐκ ἐξωλέθρευσαν (Ⅲ) - Postquam autem convaluerunt filii Israël, subjecerunt Chananæos, et fecerunt sibi tributarios, nec interfecerunt eos.\ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃17 ויהי כי חזקו בני ישראל ויתנו את הכנעני למס והורש לא הורישו ס (Ⅴ)

And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
- Les fils de Joseph parlèrent à Josué, et dirent: Pourquoi nous as-tu donné en héritage un seul lot, une seule part, tandis que nous formons un peuple nombreux et que l'Éternel nous a bénis jusqu'à présent? (Ⅱ) - ἀντει̃παν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιωσηφ τω̨̃ 'Ιησου̃ λέγοντες διὰ τί ἐκληρονόμησας ἡμα̃ς κλη̃ρον ἕνα καὶ σχοίνισμα ἕν ἐγὼ δὲ λαὸς πολύς εἰμι καὶ ὁ θεὸς εὐλόγησέν με (Ⅲ) - Locutique sunt filii Joseph ad Josue, et dixerunt : Quare dedisti mihi possessionem sortis et funiculi unius, cum sim tantæ multitudinis, et benedixerit mihi Dominus ? And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
- Josué leur dit: Si vous êtes un peuple nombreux, montez à la forêt, et vous l'abattrez pour vous y faire de la place dans le pays des Phéréziens et des Rephaïm, puisque la montagne d'Éphraïm est trop étroite pour vous. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς 'Ιησου̃ς εἰ λαὸς πολὺς εἰ̃ ἀνάβηθι εἰς τὸν δρυμὸν καὶ ἐκκάθαρον σεαυτω̨̃ εἰ στενοχωρει̃ σε τὸ ὄρος τὸ Εφραιμ (Ⅲ) - Ad quos Josue ait : Si populus multus es, ascende in silvam, et succide tibi spatia in terra Pherezæi et Raphaim : quia angusta est tibi possessio montis Ephraim. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃17 ויאמר אליהם יהושע אם עם רב אתה עלה לך היערה ובראת לך שם בארץ הפרזי והרפאים כי אץ לך הר אפרים (Ⅴ)

And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
- Les fils de Joseph dirent: La montagne ne nous suffira pas, et il y a des chars de fer chez tous les Cananéens qui habitent la vallée, chez ceux qui sont à Beth Schean et dans les villes de son ressort, et chez ceux qui sont dans la vallée de Jizreel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃παν οὐκ ἀρκέσει ἡμι̃ν τὸ ὄρος τὸ Εφραιμ καὶ ἵππος ἐπίλεκτος καὶ σίδηρος τω̨̃ Χαναναίω̨ τω̨̃ κατοικου̃ντι ἐν αὐτω̨̃ ἐν Βαιθσαν καὶ ἐν ται̃ς κώμαις αὐτη̃ς ἐν τη̨̃ κοιλάδι Ιεζραελ (Ⅲ) - Cui responderunt filii Joseph : Non poterimus ad montana conscendere, cum ferreis curribus utantur Chananæi, qui habitant in terra campestri, in qua sitæ sunt Bethsan cum viculis suis, et Jezraël mediam possidens vallem. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃17 ויאמרו בני יוסף לא ימצא לנו ההר ורכב ברזל בכל הכנעני הישב בארץ העמק לאשר בבית שאן ובנותיה ולאשר בעמק יזרעאל (Ⅴ)

And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
- Josué dit à la maison de Joseph, à Éphraïm et à Manassé: Vous êtes un peuple nombreux, et votre force est grande, vous n'aurez pas un simple lot. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν 'Ιησου̃ς τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Ιωσηφ εἰ λαὸς πολὺς εἰ̃ καὶ ἰσχὺν μεγάλην ἔχεις οὐκ ἔσται σοι κλη̃ρος εἱ̃ς (Ⅲ) - Dixitque Josue ad domum Joseph, Ephraim et Manasse : Populus multus es, et magnæ fortitudinis : non habebis sortem unam, (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃17 ויאמר יהושע אל בית יוסף לאפרים ולמנשה לאמר עם רב אתה וכח גדול לך לא יהיה לך גורל אחד (Ⅴ)

But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
- Mais vous aurez la montagne, car c'est une forêt que vous abattrez et dont les issues seront à vous, et vous chasserez les Cananéens, malgré leurs chars de fer et malgré leur force. (Ⅱ) - ὁ γὰρ δρυμὸς ἔσται σοι ὅτι δρυμός ἐστιν καὶ ἐκκαθαριει̃ς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔσται σοι καὶ ὅταν ἐξολεθρεύση̨ς τὸν Χαναναι̃ον ὅτι ἵππος ἐπίλεκτός ἐστιν αὐτω̨̃ σὺ γὰρ ὑπερισχύεις αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - sed transibis ad montem, et succides tibi, atque purgabis ad habitandum spatia : et poteris ultra procedere cum subverteris Chananæum, quem dicis ferreos habere currus, et esse fortissimum. (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃17 כי הר יהיה לך כי יער הוא ובראתו והיה לך תצאתיו כי תוריש את הכנעני כי רכב ברזל לו כי חזק הוא פ (Ⅴ)
