And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
- Lorsque toute la nation eut achevé de passer le Jourdain, l'Éternel dit à Josué: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπεὶ συνετέλεσεν πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς διαβαίνων τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος τω̨̃ 'Ιησοι̃ λέγων (Ⅲ) - Quibus transgressis, dixit Dominus ad Josue : (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃4 ויהי כאשר תמו כל הגוי לעבור את הירדן פויאמר יהוה אל יהושע לאמר (Ⅴ)

Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
- Prenez douze hommes parmi le peuple, un homme de chaque tribu. (Ⅱ) - παραλαβὼν ἄνδρας ἀπὸ του̃ λαου̃ ἕνα ἀφ' ἑκάστης φυλη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Elige duodecim viros singulos per singulas tribus : (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃4 קחו לכם מן העם שנים עשר אנשים איש אחד איש אחד משבט (Ⅴ)

And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
- Donnez-leur cet ordre: Enlevez d'ici, du milieu du Jourdain, de la place où les sacrificateurs se sont arrêtés de pied ferme, douze pierres, que vous emporterez avec vous, et que vous déposerez dans le lieu où vous passerez cette nuit. (Ⅱ) - σύνταξον αὐτοι̃ς λέγων ἀνέλεσθε ἐκ μέσου του̃ Ιορδάνου ἑτοίμους δώδεκα λίθους καὶ τούτους διακομίσαντες ἅμα ὑμι̃ν αὐτοι̃ς θέτε αὐτοὺς ἐν τη̨̃ στρατοπεδεία̨ ὑμω̃ν οὑ̃ ἐὰν παρεμβάλητε ἐκει̃ τὴν νύκτα (Ⅲ) - et præcipe eis ut tollant de medio Jordanis alveo, ubi steterunt pedes sacerdotum, duodecim durissimos lapides, quos ponetis in loco castrorum, ubi fixeritis hac nocte tentoria. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃4 וצוו אותם לאמר שאו לכם מזה מתוך הירדן ממצב רגלי הכהנים הכין שתים עשרה אבנים והעברתם אותם עמכם והנחתם אותם במלון אשר תלינו בו הלילה ס (Ⅴ)

Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
- Josué appela les douze hommes qu'il choisit parmi les enfants d'Israël, un homme de chaque tribu. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνακαλεσάμενος 'Ιησου̃ς δώδεκα ἄνδρας τω̃ν ἐνδόξων ἀπὸ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ ἕνα ἀφ' ἑκάστης φυλη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Vocavitque Josue duodecim viros, quos elegerat de filiis Israël, singulos de singulis tribubus, (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃4 ויקרא יהושע אל שנים העשר איש אשר הכין מבני ישראל איש אחד איש אחד משבט (Ⅴ)

And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
- Il leur dit: Passez devant l'arche de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, au milieu du Jourdain, et que chacun de vous charge une pierre sur son épaule, selon le nombre des tribus des enfants d'Israël, (Ⅱ) - εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς προσαγάγετε ἔμπροσθέν μου πρὸ προσώπου κυρίου εἰς μέσον του̃ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἀνελόμενος ἐκει̃θεν ἕκαστος λίθον ἀράτω ἐπὶ τω̃ν ὤμων αὐτου̃ κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τω̃ν δώδεκα φυλω̃ν του̃ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - et ait ad eos : Ite ante arcam Domini Dei vestri ad Jordanis medium, et portate inde singuli singulos lapides in humeris vestris, juxta numerum filiorum Israël, (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃4 ויאמר להם יהושע עברו לפני ארון יהוה אלהיכם אל תוך הירדן והרימו לכם איש אבן אחת על שכמו למספר שבטי בני ישראל (Ⅴ)

That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
- afin que cela soit un signe au milieu de vous. Lorsque vos enfants demanderont un jour: Que signifient pour vous ces pierres? (Ⅱ) - ἵνα ὑπάρχωσιν ὑμι̃ν οὑ̃τοι εἰς σημει̃ον κείμενον διὰ παντός ἵνα ὅταν ἐρωτα̨̃ σε ὁ υἱός σου αὔριον λέγων τί εἰσιν οἱ λίθοι οὑ̃τοι ὑμι̃ν (Ⅲ) - ut sit signum inter vos : et quando interrogaverint vos filii vestri cras, dicentes : Quid sibi volunt isti lapides ? (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃4 למען תהיה זאת אות בקרבכם כי ישאלון בניכם מחר לאמר מה האבנים האלה לכם (Ⅴ)

Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
- vous leur direz: Les eaux du Jourdain ont été coupées devant l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel; lorsqu'elle passa le Jourdain, les eaux du Jourdain ont été coupées, et ces pierres seront à jamais un souvenir pour les enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ) - καὶ σὺ δηλώσεις τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ σου λέγων ὅτι ἐξέλιπεν ὁ Ιορδάνης ποταμὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου κιβωτου̃ διαθήκης κυρίου πάσης τη̃ς γη̃ς ὡς διέβαινεν αὐτόν καὶ ἔσονται οἱ λίθοι οὑ̃τοι ὑμι̃ν μνημόσυνον τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Ισραηλ ἕως του̃ αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ) - respondebitis eis : Defecerunt aquæ Jordanis ante arcam fœderis Domini, cum transiret eum : idcirco positi sunt lapides isti in monimentum filiorum Israël usque in æternum. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃4 ואמרתם להם אשר נכרתו מימי הירדן מפני ארון ברית יהוה בעברו בירדן נכרתו מי הירדן והיו האבנים האלה לזכרון לבני ישראל עד עולם (Ⅴ)

And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
- Les enfants d'Israël firent ce que Josué leur avait ordonné. Ils enlevèrent douze pierres du milieu du Jourdain, comme l'Éternel l'avait dit à Josué, selon le nombre des tribus des enfants d'Israël, ils les emportèrent avec eux, et les déposèrent dans le lieu où ils devaient passer la nuit. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐποίησαν οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καθότι ἐνετείλατο κύριος τω̨̃ 'Ιησοι̃ καὶ λαβόντες δώδεκα λίθους ἐκ μέσου του̃ Ιορδάνου καθάπερ συνέταξεν κύριος τω̨̃ 'Ιησοι̃ ἐν τη̨̃ συντελεία̨ τη̃ς διαβάσεως τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ καὶ διεκόμισαν ἅμα ἑαυτοι̃ς εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν καὶ ἀπέθηκαν ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ) - Fecerunt ergo filii Israël sicut præcepit eis Josue, portantes de medio Jordanis alveo duodecim lapides, ut Dominus ei imperarat, juxta numerum filiorum Israël, usque ad locum in quo castrametati sunt, ibique posuerunt eos. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃4 ויעשו כן בני ישראל[1] כאשר צוה יהושע וישאו שתי עשרה אבנים מתוך הירדן כאשר דבר יהוה אל יהושע למספר שבטי בני ישראל ויעברום עמם אל המלון וינחום שם (Ⅴ)

And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
- Josué dressa aussi douze pierres au milieu du Jourdain, à la place où s'étaient arrêtés les pieds des sacrificateurs qui portaient l'arche de l'alliance; et elles y sont restées jusqu'à ce jour. (Ⅱ) - ἔστησεν δὲ 'Ιησου̃ς καὶ ἄλλους δώδεκα λίθους ἐν αὐτω̨̃ τω̨̃ Ιορδάνη̨ ἐν τω̨̃ γενομένω̨ τόπω̨ ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας τω̃ν ἱερέων τω̃ν αἰρόντων τὴν κιβωτὸν τη̃ς διαθήκης κυρίου καί εἰσιν ἐκει̃ ἕως τη̃ς σήμερον ἡμέρας (Ⅲ) - Alios quoque duodecim lapides posuit Josue in medio Jordanis alveo, ubi steterunt sacerdotes qui portabant arcam fœderis : et sunt ibi usque in præsentem diem.\ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃4 ושתים עשרה אבנים הקים יהושע בתוך הירדן תחת מצב רגלי הכהנים נשאי ארון הברית ויהיו שם עד היום הזה (Ⅴ)

For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
- Les sacrificateurs qui portaient l'arche se tinrent au milieu du Jourdain jusqu'à l'entière exécution de ce que l'Éternel avait ordonné à Josué de dire au peuple, selon tout ce que Moïse avait prescrit à Josué. Et le peuple se hâta de passer. (Ⅱ) - εἱστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ ἱερει̃ς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τη̃ς διαθήκης ἐν τω̨̃ Ιορδάνη̨ ἕως οὑ̃ συνετέλεσεν 'Ιησου̃ς πάντα ἃ ἐνετείλατο κύριος ἀναγγει̃λαι τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ καὶ ἔσπευσεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ διέβησαν (Ⅲ) - Sacerdotes autem qui portabant arcam, stabant in Jordanis medio, donec omnia complerentur, quæ Josue, ut loqueretur ad populum, præceperat Dominus, et dixerat ei Moyses. Festinavitque populus, et transiit. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃4 והכהנים נשאי הארון עמדים בתוך הירדן עד תם כל הדבר אשר צוה יהוה את יהושע לדבר אל העם ככל אשר צוה משה את יהושע וימהרו העם ויעברו (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
- Lorsque tout le peuple eut achevé de passer, l'arche de l'Éternel et les sacrificateurs passèrent devant le peuple. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς συνετέλεσεν πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς διαβη̃ναι καὶ διέβη ἡ κιβωτὸς τη̃ς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ οἱ λίθοι ἔμπροσθεν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Cumque transissent omnes, transivit et arca Domini, sacerdotesque pergebant ante populum. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃4 ויהי כאשר תם כל העם לעבור ויעבר ארון יהוה והכהנים לפני העם (Ⅴ)

And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
- Les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad, et la demi-tribu de Manassé, passèrent en armes devant les enfants d'Israël, comme Moïse le leur avait dit. (Ⅱ) - καὶ διέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ρουβην καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Γαδ καὶ οἱ ἡμίσεις φυλη̃ς Μανασση διεσκευασμένοι ἔμπροσθεν τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ καθάπερ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοι̃ς Μωυση̃ς (Ⅲ) - Filii quoque Ruben, et Gad, et dimidia tribus Manasse, armati præcedebant filios Israël, sicut eis præceperat Moyses : (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃4 ויעברו בני ראובן ובני גד וחצי שבט המנשה חמשים לפני בני ישראל כאשר דבר אליהם משה (Ⅴ)

About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
- Environ quarante mille hommes, équipés pour la guerre et prêts à combattre, passèrent devant l'Éternel dans les plaines de Jéricho. (Ⅱ) - τετρακισμύριοι εὔζωνοι εἰς μάχην διέβησαν ἐναντίον κυρίου εἰς πόλεμον πρὸς τὴν Ιεριχω πόλιν (Ⅲ) - et quadraginta pugnatorum millia per turmas, et cuneos, incedebant per plana atque campestria urbis Jericho. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃4 כארבעים אלף חלוצי הצבא עברו לפני יהוה למלחמה אל ערבות יריחו ס (Ⅴ)

On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
- En ce jour-là, l'Éternel éleva Josué aux yeux de tout Israël; et ils le craignirent, comme ils avaient craint Moïse, tous les jours de sa vie. (Ⅱ) - ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ηὔξησεν κύριος τὸν 'Ιησου̃ν ἐναντίον παντὸς του̃ γένους Ισραηλ καὶ ἐφοβου̃ντο αὐτὸν ὥσπερ Μωυση̃ν ὅσον χρόνον ἔζη (Ⅲ) - In die illo magnificavit Dominus Josue coram omni Israël, ut timerent eum, sicut timuerant Moysen, dum adviveret. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃4 ביום ההוא גדל יהוה את יהושע בעיני כל ישראל ויראו אתו כאשר יראו את משה כל ימי חייו פ (Ⅴ)

And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
- L'Éternel dit à Josué: (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος τω̨̃ 'Ιησοι̃ λέγων (Ⅲ) - Dixitque ad eum : (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃4 ויאמר יהוה אל יהושע לאמר (Ⅴ)

Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
- Ordonne aux sacrificateurs qui portent l'arche du témoignage de sortir du Jourdain. (Ⅱ) - ἔντειλαι τοι̃ς ἱερευ̃σιν τοι̃ς αἴρουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν τη̃ς διαθήκης του̃ μαρτυρίου κυρίου ἐκβη̃ναι ἐκ του̃ Ιορδάνου (Ⅲ) - Præcipe sacerdotibus, qui portant arcam fœderis, ut ascendant de Jordane. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃4 צוה את הכהנים נשאי ארון העדות ויעלו מן הירדן (Ⅴ)

Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
- Et Josué donna cet ordre aux sacrificateurs: Sortez du Jourdain. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐνετείλατο 'Ιησου̃ς τοι̃ς ἱερευ̃σιν λέγων ἔκβητε ἐκ του̃ Ιορδάνου (Ⅲ) - Qui præcepit eis, dicens : Ascendite de Jordane. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃4 ויצו יהושע את הכהנים לאמר עלו מן הירדן (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
- Lorsque les sacrificateurs qui portaient l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel furent sortis du milieu du Jourdain, et que la plante de leurs pieds se posa sur le sec, les eaux du Jourdain retournèrent à leur place, et se répandirent comme auparavant sur tous ses bords. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξέβησαν οἱ ἱερει̃ς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τη̃ς διαθήκης κυρίου ἐκ του̃ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἔθηκαν τοὺς πόδας ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ὥρμησεν τὸ ὕδωρ του̃ Ιορδάνου κατὰ χώραν καὶ ἐπορεύετο καθὰ ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν δι' ὅλης τη̃ς κρηπι̃δος (Ⅲ) - Cumque ascendissent portantes arcam fœderis Domini, et siccam humum calcare cœpissent, reversæ sunt aquæ in alveum suum, et fluebant sicut ante consueverant.\ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃4 ויהי *בעלות **כעלות הכהנים נשאי ארון ברית יהוה מתוך הירדן נתקו כפות רגלי הכהנים אל החרבה וישבו מי הירדן למקומם וילכו כתמול שלשום על כל גדותיו (Ⅴ)

And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
- Le peuple sortit du Jourdain le dixième jour du premier mois, et il campa à Guilgal, à l'extrémité orientale de Jéricho. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἀνέβη ἐκ του̃ Ιορδάνου δεκάτη̨ του̃ μηνὸς του̃ πρώτου καὶ κατεστρατοπέδευσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν Γαλγαλοις κατὰ μέρος τὸ πρὸς ἡλίου ἀνατολὰς ἀπὸ τη̃ς Ιεριχω (Ⅲ) - Populus autem ascendit de Jordane decimo die mensis primi, et castrametati sunt in Galgalis contra orientalem plagam urbis Jericho. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃4 והעם עלו מן הירדן בעשור לחדש הראשון ויחנו בגלגל בקצה מזרח יריחו (Ⅴ)

And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
- Josué dressa à Guilgal les douze pierres qu'ils avaient prises du Jourdain. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τοὺς δώδεκα λίθους τούτους οὓς ἔλαβεν ἐκ του̃ Ιορδάνου ἔστησεν 'Ιησου̃ς ἐν Γαλγαλοις (Ⅲ) - Duodecim quoque lapides, quos de Jordanis alveo sumpserant, posuit Josue in Galgalis, (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃4 ואת שתים עשרה האבנים האלה אשר לקחו מן הירדן הקים יהושע בגלגל (Ⅴ)

And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
- Il dit aux enfants d'Israël: Lorsque vos enfants demanderont un jour à leurs pères: Que signifient ces pierres? (Ⅱ) - λέγων ὅταν ἐρωτω̃σιν ὑμα̃ς οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμω̃ν λέγοντες τί εἰσιν οἱ λίθοι οὑ̃τοι (Ⅲ) - et dixit ad filios Israël : Quando interrogaverint filii vestri cras patres suos, et dixerint eis : Quid sibi volunt lapides isti ? (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃4 ויאמר אל בני ישראל לאמר אשר ישאלון בניכם מחר את אבותם לאמר מה האבנים האלה (Ⅴ)

Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
- vous en instruirez vos enfants, et vous direz: Israël a passé ce Jourdain à sec. (Ⅱ) - ἀναγγείλατε τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς ὑμω̃ν ὅτι ἐπὶ ξηρα̃ς διέβη Ισραηλ τὸν Ιορδάνην (Ⅲ) - docebitis eos, atque dicetis : Per arentem alveum transivit Israël Jordanem istum, (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃4 והודעתם את בניכם לאמר ביבשה עבר ישראל את הירדן הזה (Ⅴ)

For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
- Car l'Éternel, votre Dieu, a mis à sec devant vous les eaux du Jourdain jusqu'à ce que vous eussiez passé, comme l'Éternel, votre Dieu, l'avait fait à la mer Rouge, qu'il mit à sec devant nous jusqu'à ce que nous eussions passé, (Ⅱ) - ἀποξηράναντος κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ ἡμω̃ν τὸ ὕδωρ του̃ Ιορδάνου ἐκ του̃ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτω̃ν μέχρι οὑ̃ διέβησαν καθάπερ ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν ἣν ἀπεξήρανεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν ἔμπροσθεν ἡμω̃ν ἕως παρήλθομεν (Ⅲ) - siccante Domino Deo vestro aquas ejus in conspectu vestro, donec transiretis, (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃4 אשר הוביש יהוה אלהיכם את מי הירדן מפניכם עד עברכם כאשר עשה יהוה אלהיכם לים סוף אשר הוביש מפנינו עד עברנו (Ⅴ)

That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.
- afin que tous les peuples de la terre sachent que la main de l'Éternel est puissante, et afin que vous ayez toujours la crainte de l'Éternel, votre Dieu. (Ⅱ) - ὅπως γνω̃σιν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τη̃ς γη̃ς ὅτι ἡ δύναμις του̃ κυρίου ἰσχυρά ἐστιν καὶ ἵνα ὑμει̃ς σέβησθε κύριον τὸν θεὸν ὑμω̃ν ἐν παντὶ χρόνω̨ (Ⅲ) - sicut fecerat prius in mari Rubro, quod siccavit donec transiremus :
(4:25 ) ut discant omnes terrarum populi fortissimam Domini manum, ut et vos timeatis Dominum Deum vestrum omni tempore. (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃4 למען דעת כל עמי הארץ את יד יהוה כי חזקה היא למען יראתם את יהוה אלהיכם כל הימים ס (Ⅴ)
