23. 0  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
23. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ
- Qad aflaha almuminoona (Ⅰ)
- Successful indeed are the believers (or the believers will eventually win) (Ⅱ)
- Successful indeed are the believers (Ⅲ)
- Prosperous are the believers (Ⅳ)
- The believers must (eventually) win through,- (Ⅵ)
23. 2  
الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ
- Allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoona (Ⅰ)
- Who in their prayers are humble, (Ⅱ)
- Who are humble in their prayers, (Ⅲ)
- who in their prayers are humble (Ⅳ)
- Those who humble themselves in their prayers; (Ⅵ)
23. 3  
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ
- Waallatheena hum AAani allaghwi muAAridoona (Ⅰ)
- And who shun vain talk, (Ⅱ)
- And who shun vain conversation, (Ⅲ)
- and from idle talk turn away (Ⅳ)
- Who avoid vain talk; (Ⅵ)
23. 4  
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَاةِ فَاعِلُونَ
- Waallatheena hum lilzzakati faAAiloona (Ⅰ)
- And who are constantly active in charitable works. (Ⅱ)
- And who are payers of the poor-due; (Ⅲ)
- and at almsgiving are active (Ⅳ)
- Who are active in deeds of charity; (Ⅵ)
23. 5  
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ
- Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona (Ⅰ)
- And who abstain from sexual immodesty (or guard their modesty or chastity or sexual purity). (Ⅱ)
- And who guard their modesty - (Ⅲ)
- and guard their private parts (Ⅳ)
- Who abstain from sex, (Ⅵ)
23. 6  
إِلَّا عَلَىٰ أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
- Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena (Ⅰ)
- Except for with those joined with them in marriage or the captive whom their right hand possesses, for then, verily, they are free from blame. (Ⅱ)
- Save from their wives or the (slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy, (Ⅲ)
- save from their wives and what their right hands own then being not blameworthy (Ⅳ)
- Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, (Ⅵ)
23. 7  
فَمَنِ ابْتَغَىٰ وَرَاءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ
- Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona (Ⅰ)
- But whoever craves aught beyond that, they are the transgressors (Ⅱ)
- But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - (Ⅲ)
- (but whosoever seeks after more than that, those are the transgressors) (Ⅳ)
- But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;- (Ⅵ)
23. 8  
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ
- Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona (Ⅰ)
- And those who faithfully observe their trusts and covenants, (Ⅱ)
- And who are shepherds of their pledge and their covenant, (Ⅲ)
- and who preserve their trusts and their covenant (Ⅳ)
- Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants; (Ⅵ)
23. 9  
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
- Waallatheena hum AAala salawatihim yuhafithoona (Ⅰ)
- And who guard well (pay heed to) their prayers: (Ⅱ)
- And who pay heed to their prayers. (Ⅲ)
- and who observe their prayers. (Ⅳ)
- And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- (Ⅵ)
23. 10  
أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْوَارِثُونَ
- Olaika humu alwarithoona (Ⅰ)
- These will be the heirs, (Ⅱ)
- These are the heirs (Ⅲ)
- Those are the inheritors (Ⅳ)
- These will be the heirs, (Ⅵ)
23. 11  
الَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ
- Allatheena yarithoona alfirdawsa hum feeha khalidoona (Ⅰ)
- Who shall inherit Paradise; they shall dwell therein. (Ⅱ)
- Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide. (Ⅲ)
- who shall inherit Paradise therein dwelling forever. (Ⅳ)
- Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever). (Ⅵ)
23. 12  
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن سُلَالَةٍ مِّن طِينٍ
- Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min sulalatin min teenin (Ⅰ)
- We have created man from an extract of clay; (Ⅱ)
- Verily We created man from a product of wet earth; (Ⅲ)
- We created man of an extraction of clay, (Ⅳ)
- Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay); (Ⅵ)
23. 13  
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاهُ نُطْفَةً فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ
- Thumma jaAAalnahu nutfatan fee qararin makeenin (Ⅰ)
- Then We made him a drop (sperm) in a safe depository (the womb); (Ⅱ)
- Then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging; (Ⅲ)
- then We set him, a drop, in a receptacle secure, (Ⅳ)
- Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; (Ⅵ)
23. 14  
ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْمُضْغَةَ عِظَامًا فَكَسَوْنَا الْعِظَامَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَاهُ خَلْقًا آخَرَ ۚ فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ
- Thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka Allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeena (Ⅰ)
- Then We made the drop into a clot, and We made the clot into a lump (foetus); then We made the lump into bone, and We clothed the bone with flesh; then We produced from it another creature. Blessed be Allah, the best of Creators. (Ⅱ)
- Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators! (Ⅲ)
- then We created of the drop a clot then We created of the clot a tissue then We created of the tissue bones then We garmented the bones in flesh; thereafter We produced him as another creature. So blessed be God, the fairest of creators! (Ⅳ)
- Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! (Ⅵ)
23. 15  
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ
- Thumma innakum baAAda thalika lamayyitoona (Ⅰ)
- Then shall you after that surely die; (Ⅱ)
- Then lo! after that ye surely die. (Ⅲ)
- Then after that you shall surely die, (Ⅳ)
- After that, at length ye will die (Ⅵ)
23. 16  
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ
- Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoona (Ⅰ)
- Then, lo! On the Day of Resurrection shall you surely be raised. (Ⅱ)
- Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again). (Ⅲ)
- then on the Day of Resurrection you shall surely be raised up. (Ⅳ)
- Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. (Ⅵ)
23. 17  
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَائِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ الْخَلْقِ غَافِلِينَ
- Walaqad khalaqna fawqakum sabAAa taraiqa wama kunna AAani alkhalqi ghafileena (Ⅰ)
- And We have created above you seven paths; and We are never heedless of creation. (Ⅱ)
- And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation. (Ⅲ)
- And We created above you seven ways, and We were not heedless of creation. (Ⅳ)
- And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. (Ⅵ)
23. 18  
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً بِقَدَرٍ فَأَسْكَنَّاهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابٍ بِهِ لَقَادِرُونَ
- Waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroona (Ⅰ)
- And We send down from the heaven water by measure, and We make it rest in the earth; but, verily, We are able to withdraw it. (Ⅱ)
- And we send down from the sky water in measure, and We give it lodging in the earth, and lo! We are Able to withdraw it. (Ⅲ)
- And We sent down out of heaven water in measure and lodged it in the earth; and We are able to take it away. (Ⅳ)
- And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). (Ⅵ)
23. 19  
فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَاكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
- Faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloona (Ⅰ)
- Then We produce for you thereby gardens of date-palms and grapes wherein you have much fruits, and whereof you eat. (Ⅱ)
- Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; (Ⅲ)
- Then We produced for you therewith gardens of palms and vines wherein are many fruits for you, and of them you eat, (Ⅳ)
- With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- (Ⅵ)
23. 20  
وَشَجَرَةً تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَاءَ تَنبُتُ بِالدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْآكِلِينَ
- Washajaratan takhruju min toori saynaa tanbutu bialdduhni wasibghin lilakileena (Ⅰ)
- And a tree growing out of Mount Sinai (Olives) which produces oil, and a relish for eaters. (Ⅱ)
- And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. (Ⅲ)
- and a tree issuing from the Mount of Sinai that bears oil and seasoning for all to eat. (Ⅳ)
- Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. (Ⅵ)
23. 21  
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِي الْأَنْعَامِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
- Wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butooniha walakum feeha manafiAAu katheeratun waminha takuloona (Ⅰ)
- And, verily, you have a lesson in the cattle; We give you to drink of what is in their bodies; and you have therein many uses, and of them you eat, (Ⅱ)
- And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat; (Ⅲ)
- And surely in the cattle there is a lesson for you; We give you to drink of what is in their bellies, and many uses there are in them for you, and of them you eat; (Ⅳ)
- And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat; (Ⅵ)
23. 22  
وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى الْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ
- WaAAalayha waAAala alfulki tuhmaloona (Ⅰ)
- And on them and on ships you are carried. (Ⅱ)
- And on them and on the ship ye are carried. (Ⅲ)
- and upon them, and on the ships, you are borne. (Ⅳ)
- And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. (Ⅵ)
23. 23  
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
- Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona (Ⅰ)
- We sent Noah unto his people, and he said, "O my people! Serve Allah, you have no God but Him; do you then not fear (evil)?" (Ⅱ)
- And We verily sent Noah unto his folk, and he said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other God save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil) ? (Ⅲ)
- And We sent Noah to his people; and he, said, ´O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He. Will you not be godfearing?" (Ⅳ)
- (Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?" (Ⅵ)
23. 24  
فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ
- Faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa Allahu laanzala malaikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena (Ⅰ)
- Said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people, "This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves who wishes to make himself superior to you. Had Allah pleased He could surely have sent angels. We have not heard of this from our forefathers. (Ⅱ)
- But the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: This is only a mortal like you who would make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels. We heard not of this in the case of our fathers of old. (Ⅲ)
- Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, ´This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who desires to gain superiority over you. And if God willed, He would have sent down angels. We never heard of this among, our fathers, the ancients. (Ⅳ)
- The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old." (Ⅵ)
23. 25  
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ بِهِ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا بِهِ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
- In huwa illa rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbasoo bihi hatta heenin (Ⅰ)
- "He is nothing but a man possessed; so watch him for a while." (Ⅱ)
- He is only a man in whom is a madness, so watch him for a while. (Ⅲ)
- He is naught but a man bedevilled; so wait on him for a time. (Ⅳ)
- (And some said): "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time." (Ⅵ)
23. 26  
قَالَ رَبِّ انصُرْنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
- Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni (Ⅰ)
- Said he, "My Lord! Help me, for they deny me." (Ⅱ)
- He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.´ (Ⅳ)
- (Noah) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood!" (Ⅵ)
23. 27  
فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ أَنِ اصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ ۙ فَاسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُخَاطِبْنِي فِي الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ۖ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ
- Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona (Ⅰ)
- And We inspired him, saying "Make the ark under Our eyes and Our inspiration; and when the oven (of Allah´s wrath) boils over (or the fountains or springs of the earth are about to gush forth), conduct into it of every kind two spouses, and your household, except them against whom the Word has already gone forth. And plead not on behalf of those who do wrong, verily, they will be drowned. (Ⅱ)
- Then We inspired in him, saying: Make the ship under Our eyes and Our inspiration. Then, when Our command cometh and the oven gusheth water, introduce therein of every (kind) two spouses, and thy household save him thereof against whom the Word hath already gone forth. And plead not with Me on behalf of those who have done wrong. Lo! they will be drowned. (Ⅲ)
- Then We said to him, ´Make thou the Ark under Our eyes and as We reveal, and then, when Our command comes and the Oven boils, insert in it two of every kind and thy, family -- except for him against whom the word already has been spoken; and address Me not concerning those who have done evil; they shall be drowned. (Ⅳ)
- So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood). (Ⅵ)
23. 28  
فَإِذَا اسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى الْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي نَجَّانَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
- Faitha istawayta anta waman maAAaka AAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allathee najjana mina alqawmi alththalimeena (Ⅰ)
- "But when you are settled, you and those with you in the ark, say, "Praise belongs to Allah, Who saved us from the unjust people." (Ⅱ)
- And when thou art on board the ship, thou and whoso is with thee, then say: Praise be to Allah Who hath saved us from the wrongdoing folk! (Ⅲ)
- Then, when thou art seated in the Ark and those with thee, say, "Praise belongs to God, who has delivered us from the people of the evildoers." (Ⅳ)
- And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong." (Ⅵ)
23. 29  
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلْنِي مُنزَلًا مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنزِلِينَ
- Waqul rabbi anzilnee munzalan mubarakan waanta khayru almunzileena (Ⅰ)
- "And say, ´My Lord! Cause me to land on a blessed landing place, for you are the best of all who bring to land.´" (Ⅱ)
- And say: My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for Thou art Best of all who bring to land. (Ⅲ)
- And say, "´O my Lord, do Thou harbour me in a blessed harbour, for Thou art the best of harbourers." (Ⅳ)
- And say: "O my Lord! enable me to disembark with thy blessing: for Thou art the Best to enable (us) to disembark." (Ⅵ)
23. 30  
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبْتَلِينَ
- Inna fee thalika laayatin wain kunna lamubtaleena (Ⅰ)
- Verily, in this is a sign, and, verily, We are ever trying them (mankind). (Ⅱ)
- Lo! herein verily are portents, for lo! We are ever putting (mankind) to the test. (Ⅲ)
- Surely in that are signs, and surely We put to the test. (Ⅳ)
- Verily in this there are Signs (for men to understand); (thus) do We try (men). (Ⅵ)
23. 31  
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا آخَرِينَ
- Thumma anshana min baAAdihim qarnan akhareena (Ⅰ)
- Then We raised up after them another generation; (Ⅱ)
- Then, after them, We brought forth another generation; (Ⅲ)
- Thereafter, after them, We produced another generation, (Ⅳ)
- Then We raised after them another generation. (Ⅵ)
23. 32  
فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
- Faarsalna feehim rasoolan minhum ani oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona (Ⅰ)
- And We sent amongst them a messenger of their own (or from among them), saying, "Serve Allah, you have no God but He; will you then not fear (evil)?" (Ⅱ)
- And we sent among them a messenger of their own, saying: Serve Allah, Ye have no other God save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil) ? (Ⅲ)
- and We sent amongst them a Messenger of themselves, saying, ´Serve God! You have no god other than He. Will you not be godfearing?´ (Ⅳ)
- And We sent to them a messenger from among themselves, (saying), "Worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?" (Ⅵ)
23. 33  
وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِلِقَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَاهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ
- Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biliqai alakhirati waatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunya ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yakulu mimma takuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboona (Ⅰ)
- Said the chiefs of the people who disbelieved, and denied the meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We gave enjoyment in the life of this world, "This is only a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat, and drinks of what you drink; (Ⅱ)
- And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. (Ⅲ)
- Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present´ life, ´This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. (Ⅳ)
- And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. (Ⅵ)
23. 34  
وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَاسِرُونَ
- Walain ataAAtum basharan mithlakum innakum ithan lakhasiroona (Ⅰ)
- "If you obey a mortal like yourselves, verily, you will then be surely losers. (Ⅱ)
- If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. (Ⅲ)
- If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. (Ⅳ)
- "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. (Ⅵ)
23. 35  
أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ
- AyaAAidukum annakum itha mittum wakuntum turaban waAAithaman annakum mukhrajoona (Ⅰ)
- "Does he promise you that when you are dead, and have become dust and bones, that then you will be brought forth? (Ⅱ)
- Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth ? (Ⅲ)
- What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? (Ⅳ)
- "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? (Ⅵ)
23. 36  
۞ هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ
- Hayhata hayhata lima tooAAadoona (Ⅰ)
- "Be gone, be gone, with that which you are promised (or it is far-fetched). (Ⅱ)
- Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! (Ⅲ)
- Away, away with that you are promised! (Ⅳ)
- "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! (Ⅵ)
23. 37  
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ
- In hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena (Ⅰ)
- "There is only our life in this world. We die and we live, and we shall not be raised again. (Ⅱ)
- There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). (Ⅲ)
- There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. (Ⅳ)
- "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! (Ⅵ)
23. 38  
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
- In huwa illa rajulun iftara AAala Allahi kathiban wama nahnu lahu bimumineena (Ⅰ)
- "He is only a man who invents a lie about Allah. And we believe him not." (Ⅱ)
- He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. (Ⅲ)
- He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.´ (Ⅳ)
- "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" (Ⅵ)
23. 39  
قَالَ رَبِّ انصُرْنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
- Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni (Ⅰ)
- Said he, "My Lord! Help me, for they deny me." (Ⅱ)
- He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.´ (Ⅳ)
- (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." (Ⅵ)
23. 40  
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نَادِمِينَ
- Qala AAamma qaleelin layusbihunna nadimeena (Ⅰ)
- He said, "Within a little while they will surely be sorry!" (Ⅱ)
- He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´In a little they will be remorseful.´ (Ⅳ)
- (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" (Ⅵ)
23. 41  
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ غُثَاءً ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
- Faakhathathumu alssayhatu bialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaan fabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeena (Ⅰ)
- Then the blast seized them rightfully; and We made them as rubbish borne by a torrent (of Time); so, away with the wrong-doing people! (Ⅱ)
- So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! (Ⅲ)
- And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! (Ⅳ)
- Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! (Ⅵ)
23. 42  
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونًا آخَرِينَ
- Thumma anshana min baAAdihim quroonan akhareena (Ⅰ)
- Then after them We brought forth other generations. (Ⅱ)
- Then after them We brought forth other generations. (Ⅲ)
- Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; (Ⅳ)
- Then We raised after them other generations. (Ⅵ)
23. 43  
مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ
- Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalaha wama yastakhiroona (Ⅰ)
- No nation (or people) can hasten its appointed term, nor delay it. (Ⅱ)
- No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. (Ⅲ)
- no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. (Ⅳ)
- No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). (Ⅵ)
23. 44  
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَىٰ ۖ كُلَّ مَا جَاءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ ۚ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّقَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
- Thumma arsalna rusulana tatra kulla ma jaa ommatan rasooluha kaththaboohu faatbaAAna baAAdahum baAAdan wajaAAalnahum ahadeetha fabuAAdan liqawmin la yuminoona (Ⅰ)
- Then We sent Our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto any nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster); and We made them bywords. Away then with a people who believe not! (Ⅱ)
- Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! (Ⅲ)
- Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! (Ⅳ)
- Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! (Ⅵ)
23. 45  
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَارُونَ بِآيَاتِنَا وَسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
- Thumma arsalna moosa waakhahu haroona biayatina wasultanin mubeenin (Ⅰ)
- Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs, and with plain authority (Ⅱ)
- Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant (Ⅲ)
- Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority (Ⅳ)
- Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, (Ⅵ)
23. 46  
إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا عَالِينَ
- Ila firAAawna wamalaihi faistakbaroo wakanoo qawman AAaleena (Ⅰ)
- To Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they were inflated with pride, and were a despotic people. (Ⅱ)
- Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. (Ⅲ)
- unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, (Ⅳ)
- To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. (Ⅵ)
23. 47  
فَقَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَابِدُونَ
- Faqaloo anuminu libasharayni mithlina waqawmuhuma lana AAabidoona (Ⅰ)
- And they said, "Shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, and whose people are servile unto us?" (Ⅱ)
- And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us ? (Ⅲ)
- and they said, ´What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?´ (Ⅳ)
- They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" (Ⅵ)
23. 48  
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا مِنَ الْمُهْلَكِينَ
- Fakaththaboohuma fakanoo mina almuhlakeena (Ⅰ)
- So they accused them of lying, and became of those who perished. (Ⅱ)
- So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. (Ⅲ)
- So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. (Ⅳ)
- So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. (Ⅵ)
23. 49  
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
- Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba laAAallahum yahtadoona (Ⅰ)
- And We verily gave Moses the Book, that per chance (or possibly) they might be guided. (Ⅱ)
- And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. (Ⅲ)
- And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; (Ⅳ)
- And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. (Ⅵ)
