72. 0  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
72. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْآنًا عَجَبًا
- Qul oohiya ilayya annahu istamaAAa nafarun mina aljinni faqaloo inna samiAAna quranan AAajaban (Ⅰ)
- Say, "It has been revealed to me that a company of the jinn listened, and they said, "Surely we have heard a wonderful Recital (Quran), (Ⅱ)
- Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, (Ⅲ)
- Say: ´It has been revealed to me that a company of the jinn gave ear, then they said, "We have indeed heard a Koran wonderful, (Ⅳ)
- Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur´an). They said, ´We have really heard a wonderful Recital! (Ⅵ)
72. 2  
يَهْدِي إِلَى الرُّشْدِ فَآمَنَّا بِهِ ۖ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَا أَحَدًا
- Yahdee ila alrrushdi faamanna bihi walan nushrika birabbina ahadan (Ⅰ)
- "Guiding to the right way. So we believe in it, and we will not join any one with our Lord (in worship): (Ⅱ)
- Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. (Ⅲ)
- guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. (Ⅳ)
- ´It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. (Ⅵ)
72. 3  
وَأَنَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَلَا وَلَدًا
- Waannahu taAAala jaddu rabbina ma ittakhatha sahibatan wala waladan (Ⅰ)
- "And that He, exalted be the majesty of our Lord, has not taken a consort, nor a son: (Ⅱ)
- And (we believe) that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord! - hath taken neither wife nor son, (Ⅲ)
- He -- exalted be our Lord´s majesty! has not taken to Himself either consort or a son. (Ⅳ)
- ´And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. (Ⅵ)
72. 4  
وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ شَطَطًا
- Waannahu kana yaqoolu safeehuna AAala Allahi shatatan (Ⅰ)
- "The foolish amongst us used to invent extravagant things against Allah: (Ⅱ)
- And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. (Ⅲ)
- The fool among us spoke against God outrage, (Ⅳ)
- ´There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; (Ⅵ)
72. 5  
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن تَقُولَ الْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا
- Waanna thananna an lan taqoola alinsu waaljinnu AAala Allahi kathiban (Ⅰ)
- "And lo! We thought (or think) that men and jinn did not (or ought not to) utter a lie against Allah: (Ⅱ)
- And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - (Ⅲ)
- and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. (Ⅳ)
- ´But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. (Ⅵ)
72. 6  
وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ الْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا
- Waannahu kana rijalun mina alinsi yaAAoothoona birijalin mina aljinni fazadoohum rahaqan (Ⅰ)
- "And, indeed, persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing (or folly or revolt): (Ⅱ)
- And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); (Ⅲ)
- But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, (Ⅳ)
- ´True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. (Ⅵ)
72. 7  
وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ اللَّهُ أَحَدًا
- Waannahum thannoo kama thanantum an lan yabAAatha Allahu ahadan (Ⅰ)
- "And they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone (to be judged): (Ⅱ)
- And indeed they supposed, even as ye suppose, that Allah would not raise anyone (from the dead) - (Ⅲ)
- and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. (Ⅳ)
- ´And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). (Ⅵ)
72. 8  
وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا السَّمَاءَ فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيدًا وَشُهُبًا
- Waanna lamasna alssamaa fawajadnaha muliat harasan shadeedan washuhuban (Ⅰ)
- "And we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming fires (or meteors). (Ⅱ)
- And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. (Ⅲ)
- And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. (Ⅳ)
- ´And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. (Ⅵ)
72. 9  
وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ۖ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ الْآنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا
- Waanna kunna naqAAudu minha maqaAAida lilssamAAi faman yastamiAAi alana yajid lahu shihaban rasadan (Ⅰ)
- "And we used to sit in some high hidden places therein to steal a hearing, but he who would try to listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: (Ⅱ)
- And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; (Ⅲ)
- We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. (Ⅳ)
- ´We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. (Ⅵ)
72. 10  
وَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِي أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًا
- Waanna la nadree asharrun oreeda biman fee alardi am arada bihim rabbuhum rashadan (Ⅰ)
- "We know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: (Ⅱ)
- And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. (Ⅲ)
- And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. (Ⅳ)
- ´And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct. (Ⅵ)
72. 11  
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ كُنَّا طَرَائِقَ قِدَدًا
- Waanna minna alssalihoona waminna doona thalika kunna taraiqa qidadan (Ⅰ)
- "And some of us are righteous and others of us are far from that: we are sects following different ways: (Ⅱ)
- And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. (Ⅲ)
- And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. (Ⅳ)
- ´There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. (Ⅵ)
72. 12  
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ اللَّهَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُ هَرَبًا
- Wanna thananna an lan nuAAjiza Allaha fee alardi walan nuAAjizahu haraban (Ⅰ)
- "But we know that we cannot escape (or frustrate) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (or frustrate) Him by flight: (Ⅱ)
- And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. (Ⅲ)
- Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. (Ⅳ)
- ´But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. (Ⅵ)
72. 13  
وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا الْهُدَىٰ آمَنَّا بِهِ ۖ فَمَن يُؤْمِن بِرَبِّهِ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًا وَلَا رَهَقًا
- Waanna lamma samiAAna alhuda amanna bihi faman yumin birabbihi fala yakhafu bakhsan wala rahaqan (Ⅰ)
- "And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it (or accepted it); whoever believes in his Lord, he neither fears loss nor oppression (injustice or disgrace): (Ⅱ)
- And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. (Ⅲ)
- When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. (Ⅳ)
- ´And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. (Ⅵ)
72. 14  
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُولَٰئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا رَشَدًا
- Waanna minna almuslimoona waminna alqasitoona faman aslama faolaika taharraw rashadan (Ⅰ)
- "Some of us are those who have Surrendered (to Allah), and some of us are deviators. Those who have Surrender have surely taken the right path purposefully. (Ⅱ)
- And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. (Ⅲ)
- And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; (Ⅳ)
- ´Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: (Ⅵ)
72. 15  
وَأَمَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا
- Waama alqasitoona fakanoo lijahannama hataban (Ⅰ)
- "As for the deviators, they are the fuel of Hell:" (Ⅱ)
- And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. (Ⅲ)
- but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"´ (Ⅳ)
- ´But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire´- (Ⅵ)
72. 16  
وَأَن لَّوِ اسْتَقَامُوا عَلَى الطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَاهُم مَّاءً غَدَقًا
- Waallawi istaqamoo AAala alttareeqati laasqaynahum maan ghadaqan (Ⅰ)
- If they should keep to the right way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water, (Ⅱ)
- If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance (Ⅲ)
- Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, (Ⅳ)
- (And Allah´s Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. (Ⅵ)
72. 17  
لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًا صَعَدًا
- Linaftinahum feehi waman yuAArid AAan thikri rabbihi yaslukhu AAathaban saAAadan (Ⅰ)
- "So that We might test them therewith. And whoever turns aside from the remembrance of his Lord, He will afflict him with a severe penalty. (Ⅱ)
- That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. (Ⅲ)
- that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. (Ⅳ)
- "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. (Ⅵ)
72. 18  
وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًا
- Waanna almasajida lillahi fala tadAAoo maAAa Allahi ahadan (Ⅰ)
- The places of worship are only Allah´s, therefore call not upon any one along with Allah: (Ⅱ)
- And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. (Ⅲ)
- The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. (Ⅳ)
- "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; (Ⅵ)
72. 19  
وَأَنَّهُ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا
- Waannahu lamma qama AAabdu Allahi yadAAoohu kadoo yakoonoona AAalayhi libadan (Ⅰ)
- And yet when the servant of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded almost stifling him. (Ⅱ)
- And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. (Ⅲ)
- When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. (Ⅳ)
- "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." (Ⅵ)
72. 20  
قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَدْعُو رَبِّي وَلَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ أَحَدًا
- Qul innama adAAoo rabbee wala oshriku bihi ahadan (Ⅰ)
- Say, "I only call upon my Lord, and I do not associate any one with Him." (Ⅱ)
- Say (unto them, O Muhammad): I pray unto Allah only, and ascribe unto Him no partner. (Ⅲ)
- Say: ´I call only upon my Lord, and I do not associate with Him anyone. (Ⅳ)
- Say: "I do no more than invoke my Lord, and I join not with Him any (false god)." (Ⅵ)
72. 21  
قُلْ إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا رَشَدًا
- Qul innee la amliku lakum darran wala rashadan (Ⅰ)
- Say, "I do not control for you evil or good." (Ⅱ)
- Say: Lo! I control not hurt nor benefit for you. (Ⅲ)
- Say: ´Surely I possess no power over you, either for hurt or for rectitude.´ (Ⅳ)
- Say: "It is not in my power to cause you harm, or to bring you to right conduct." (Ⅵ)
72. 22  
قُلْ إِنِّي لَن يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا
- Qul innee lan yujeeranee mina Allahi ahadun walan ajida min doonihi multahadan (Ⅰ)
- Say, "Surely no one can protect me against Allah, nor can I find besides Him any place of refuge (Ⅱ)
- Say: Lo! none can protect me from Allah, nor can I find any refuge beside Him (Ⅲ)
- Say: ´From God shall protect me not anyone, and I shall find, apart from Him, no refuge, (Ⅳ)
- Say: "No one can deliver me from Allah (If I were to disobey Him), nor should I find refuge except in Him, (Ⅵ)
72. 23  
إِلَّا بَلَاغًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِسَالَاتِهِ ۚ وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا
- Illa balaghan mina Allahi warisalatihi waman yaAAsi Allaha warasoolahu fainna lahu nara jahannama khalideena feeha abadan (Ⅰ)
- "Unless I proclaim what I receive from Allah and His messages; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger surely he shall have the fire of Hell to abide therein for ever. (Ⅱ)
- (Mine is) but conveyance (of the Truth) from Allah, and His messages; and whoso disobeyeth Allah and His messenger, lo! his is fire of hell, wherein such dwell for ever. (Ⅲ)
- excepting a Deliverance from God and His Messages. And whoso rebels against God and His messenger, for him there awaits the Fire of Gehenna; therein they shall dwell forever.´ (Ⅳ)
- "Unless I proclaim what I receive from Allah and His Messages: for any that disobey Allah and His Messenger,- for them is Hell: they shall dwell therein for ever." (Ⅵ)
72. 24  
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا رَأَوْا مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًا
- Hatta itha raaw ma yooAAadoona fasayaAAlamoona man adAAafu nasiran waaqallu AAadadan (Ⅰ)
- Until when they see what they are promised, then shall they know who it is that is weaker in helpers and fewer in number. (Ⅱ)
- Till (the day) when they shall behold that which they are promised (they may doubt); but then they will know (for certain) who is weaker in allies and less in multitude. (Ⅲ)
- Until, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and fewer in numbers. (Ⅳ)
- At length, when they see (with their own eyes) that which they are promised,- then will they know who it is that is weakest in (his) helper and least important in point of numbers. (Ⅵ)
72. 25  
قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِي أَقَرِيبٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ رَبِّي أَمَدًا
- Qul in adree aqareebun ma tooAAadoona am yajAAalu lahu rabbee amadan (Ⅰ)
- Say, "I do not know whether that which you are promised be nigh or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term: (Ⅱ)
- Say (O Muhammad, unto the disbelievers): I know not whether that which ye are promised is nigh, or if my Lord hath set a distant term for it. (Ⅲ)
- Say: ´I do not know whether that which you are promised is nigh, or whether my Lord will appoint for it a space; (Ⅳ)
- Say: "I know not whether the (Punishment) which ye are promised is near, or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term. (Ⅵ)
72. 26  
عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِ أَحَدًا
- AAalimu alghaybi fala yuthhiru AAala ghaybihi ahadan (Ⅰ)
- He is the Knower of the unseen! And He reveals unto none His secrets, (Ⅱ)
- (He is) the Knower of the Unseen, and He revealeth unto none His secret, (Ⅲ)
- Knower He of the Unseen, and He discloses not His Unseen to anyone, (Ⅳ)
- "He (alone) knows the Unseen, nor does He make any one acquainted with His Mysteries,- (Ⅵ)
72. 27  
إِلَّا مَنِ ارْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْلُكُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ رَصَدًا
- Illa mani irtada min rasoolin fainnahu yasluku min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi rasadan (Ⅰ)
- Except messengers whom He has chosen; and then He makes a guard to go before him and after him, (Ⅱ)
- Save unto every messenger whom He hath chosen, and then He maketh a guard to go before him and a guard behind him (Ⅲ)
- save only to such a Messenger as He is well-pleased with; then He despatches before him and behind him watchers, (Ⅳ)
- "Except a messenger whom He has chosen: and then He makes a band of watchers march before him and behind him, (Ⅵ)
72. 28  
لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَدًا
- LiyaAAlama an qad ablaghoo risalati rabbihim waahata bima ladayhim waahsa kulla shayin AAadadan (Ⅰ)
- So that He may know that they have truly delivered the messages of their Lord. He encompasses what is with them and He keeps count of all things. (Ⅱ)
- That He may know that they have indeed conveyed the messages of their Lord. He surroundeth all their doings, and He keepeth count of all things. (Ⅲ)
- that He may know they have delivered the Messages of their Lord; and He encompasses all that is with them, and He has numbered everything in numbers.´ (Ⅳ)
- "That He may know that they have (truly) brought and delivered the Messages of their Lord: and He surrounds (all the mysteries) that are with them, and takes account of every single thing." (Ⅵ)
