78. 0  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
78. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
- AAamma yatasaaloona (Ⅰ)
- Of what do they question one another? (Ⅱ)
- Whereof do they question one another ? (Ⅲ)
- Of what do they question one another? (Ⅳ)
- Concerning what are they disputing? (Ⅵ)
78. 2  
عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ
- AAani alnnabai alAAatheemi (Ⅰ)
- About the Great News, (Ⅱ)
- (It is) of the awful tidings, (Ⅲ)
- Of the mighty tiding (Ⅳ)
- Concerning the Great News, (Ⅵ)
78. 3  
الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
- Allathee hum feehi mukhtalifoona (Ⅰ)
- About which they are in disagreement? (Ⅱ)
- Concerning which they are in disagreement. (Ⅲ)
- whereon they are at variance. (Ⅳ)
- About which they cannot agree. (Ⅵ)
78. 4  
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
- Kalla sayaAAlamoona (Ⅰ)
- Verily, they shall soon come to know (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but they will come to know! (Ⅲ)
- No indeed; they shall soon know! (Ⅳ)
- Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! (Ⅵ)
78. 5  
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
- Thumma kalla sayaAAlamoona (Ⅰ)
- Verily, verily, they shall soon come to know. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, again, but they will come to know! (Ⅲ)
- Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! (Ⅳ)
- Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! (Ⅵ)
78. 6  
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا
- Alam najAAali alarda mihadan (Ⅰ)
- Have We not made the earth an expanse? (Ⅱ)
- Have We not made the earth an expanse, (Ⅲ)
- Have We not made the earth as a cradle (Ⅳ)
- Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, (Ⅵ)
78. 7  
وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
- Waaljibala awtadan (Ⅰ)
- And the mountains as projections (thereon)? (Ⅱ)
- And the high hills bulwarks ? (Ⅲ)
- and the mountains as pegs? (Ⅳ)
- And the mountains as pegs? (Ⅵ)
78. 8  
وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا
- Wakhalaqnakum azwajan (Ⅰ)
- And created you in pairs? (Ⅱ)
- And We have created you in pairs, (Ⅲ)
- And We created you in pairs, (Ⅳ)
- And (have We not) created you in pairs, (Ⅵ)
78. 9  
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
- WajaAAalna nawmakum subatan (Ⅰ)
- And made your sleep for rest? (Ⅱ)
- And have appointed your sleep for repose, (Ⅲ)
- and We appointed your sleep for a rest; (Ⅳ)
- And made your sleep for rest, (Ⅵ)
78. 10  
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
- WajaAAalna allayla libasan (Ⅰ)
- And made the night to be a covering? (Ⅱ)
- And have appointed the night as a cloak, (Ⅲ)
- and We appointed night for a garment, (Ⅳ)
- And made the night as a covering, (Ⅵ)
78. 11  
وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
- WajaAAalna alnnahara maAAashan (Ⅰ)
- And made the day for livelihood and activity? (Ⅱ)
- And have appointed the day for livelihood. (Ⅲ)
- and We appointed day for a livelihood. (Ⅳ)
- And made the day as a means of subsistence? (Ⅵ)
78. 12  
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
- Wabanayna fawqakum sabAAan shidadan (Ⅰ)
- And made above you seven firmaments (heavens)? (Ⅱ)
- And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), (Ⅲ)
- And We have built above you seven strong ones, (Ⅳ)
- And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, (Ⅵ)
78. 13  
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
- WajaAAalna sirajan wahhajan (Ⅰ)
- And placed therein a shining lamp (the Sun)? (Ⅱ)
- And have appointed a dazzling lamp, (Ⅲ)
- and We appointed a blazing lamp (Ⅳ)
- And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? (Ⅵ)
78. 14  
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا
- Waanzalna mina almuAAsirati maan thajjajan (Ⅰ)
- And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, (Ⅱ)
- And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, (Ⅲ)
- and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading (Ⅳ)
- And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, (Ⅵ)
78. 15  
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
- Linukhrija bihi habban wanabatan (Ⅰ)
- That We may bring forth thereby corn and vegetable, (Ⅱ)
- Thereby to produce grain and plant, (Ⅲ)
- that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, (Ⅳ)
- That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, (Ⅵ)
78. 16  
وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا
- Wajannatin alfafan (Ⅰ)
- And gardens dense and luxuriant? (Ⅱ)
- And gardens of thick foliage. (Ⅲ)
- and gardens luxuriant. (Ⅳ)
- And gardens of luxurious growth? (Ⅵ)
78. 17  
إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا
- Inna yawma alfasli kana meeqatan (Ⅰ)
- Surely the Day of Decision (or Sorting ) is a thing appointed: (Ⅱ)
- Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, (Ⅲ)
- Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, (Ⅳ)
- Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, (Ⅵ)
78. 18  
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
- Yawma yunfakhu fee alssoori fatatoona afwajan (Ⅰ)
- The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, (Ⅱ)
- A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, (Ⅲ)
- the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, (Ⅳ)
- The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; (Ⅵ)
78. 19  
وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا
- Wafutihati alssamao fakanat abwaban (Ⅰ)
- And the heaven shall be opened as if it were all doors, (Ⅱ)
- And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, (Ⅲ)
- and heaven is opened, and become gates, (Ⅳ)
- And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, (Ⅵ)
78. 20  
وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
- Wasuyyirati aljibalu fakanat saraban (Ⅰ)
- And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. (Ⅱ)
- And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. (Ⅲ)
- and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. (Ⅳ)
- And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. (Ⅵ)
78. 21  
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
- Inna jahannama kanat mirsadan (Ⅰ)
- Surely hell lies in ambush, (Ⅱ)
- Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, (Ⅲ)
- Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, (Ⅳ)
- Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, (Ⅵ)
78. 22  
لِّلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا
- Lilttagheena maaban (Ⅰ)
- A destination for those who transgress the bounds, (Ⅱ)
- A home for the rebellious. (Ⅲ)
- for the insolent a resort, (Ⅳ)
- For the transgressors a place of destination: (Ⅵ)
78. 23  
لَّابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا
- Labitheena feeha ahqaban (Ⅰ)
- Abiding therein for ages. (Ⅱ)
- They will abide therein for ages. (Ⅲ)
- therein to tarry for ages, (Ⅳ)
- They will dwell therein for ages. (Ⅵ)
78. 24  
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
- La yathooqoona feeha bardan wala sharaban (Ⅰ)
- They shall not taste therein anything cool nor drink (Ⅱ)
- Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink (Ⅲ)
- tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink (Ⅳ)
- Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, (Ⅵ)
78. 25  
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
- Illa hameeman waghassaqan (Ⅰ)
- But boiling and intensely cold water, (Ⅱ)
- Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: (Ⅲ)
- save boiling water and pus (Ⅳ)
- Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, (Ⅵ)
78. 26  
جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا
- Jazaan wifaqan (Ⅰ)
- Requital corresponding (or proportional to their state). (Ⅱ)
- Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). (Ⅲ)
- for a suitable recompense. (Ⅳ)
- A fitting recompense (for them). (Ⅵ)
78. 27  
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
- Innahum kanoo la yarjoona hisaban (Ⅰ)
- Surely they feared not the account, (Ⅱ)
- For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; (Ⅲ)
- They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, (Ⅳ)
- For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), (Ⅵ)
78. 28  
وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابًا
- Wakaththaboo biayatina kiththaban (Ⅰ)
- And called Our revelations a lie with strong denial. (Ⅱ)
- They called Our revelations false with strong denial. (Ⅲ)
- and they cried loud lies to Our signs; (Ⅳ)
- But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. (Ⅵ)
78. 29  
وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا
- Wakulla shayin ahsaynahu kitaban (Ⅰ)
- And We have preserved all things in a Record. (Ⅱ)
- Everything have We recorded in a Book. (Ⅲ)
- and everything We have numbered in a Book. (Ⅳ)
- And all things have We preserved on record. (Ⅵ)
78. 30  
فَذُوقُوا فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
- Fathooqoo falan nazeedakum illa AAathaban (Ⅰ)
- "So taste you (the fruits of your deeds)! For We will not add to you aught but torment. (Ⅱ)
- So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. (Ⅲ)
- ´Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.´ (Ⅳ)
- "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." (Ⅵ)
78. 31  
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
- Inna lilmuttaqeena mafazan (Ⅰ)
- Surely for the righteous is achievement (or success, self-fulfilment), (Ⅱ)
- Lo! for the duteous is achievement - (Ⅲ)
- Surely for the godfearing awaits a place of security, (Ⅳ)
- Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart´s) desires; (Ⅵ)
78. 32  
حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا
- Hadaiqa waaAAnaban (Ⅰ)
- Gardens and vineyards, (Ⅱ)
- Gardens enclosed and vineyards, (Ⅲ)
- gardens and vineyards (Ⅳ)
- Gardens enclosed, and grapevines; (Ⅵ)
78. 33  
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
- WakawaAAiba atraban (Ⅰ)
- And those showing freshness of youth, equals in age, (Ⅱ)
- And maidens for companions, (Ⅲ)
- and maidens with swelling breasts, like of age, (Ⅳ)
- And voluptuous women of equal age; (Ⅵ)
78. 34  
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
- Wakasan dihaqan (Ⅰ)
- And a pure cup. (Ⅱ)
- And a full cup. (Ⅲ)
- and a cup overflowing. (Ⅳ)
- And a cup full (to the brim). (Ⅵ)
78. 35  
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا
- La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwan wala kiththaban (Ⅰ)
- They shall not hear therein any vain words nor lying. (Ⅱ)
- There hear they never vain discourse, nor lying - (Ⅲ)
- Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cry of lies, (Ⅳ)
- No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth:- (Ⅵ)
78. 36  
جَزَاءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا
- Jazaan min rabbika AAataan hisaban (Ⅰ)
- A reward from your Lord, a gift according to reckoning (or sufficient): (Ⅱ)
- Requital from thy Lord - a gift in payment - (Ⅲ)
- for a recompense from thy Lord, a gift, a reckoning, (Ⅳ)
- Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient, (Ⅵ)
78. 37  
رَّبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
- Rabbi alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma alrrahmani la yamlikoona minhu khitaban (Ⅰ)
- From the Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Beneficent Allah, with whom none can argue. (Ⅱ)
- Lord of the heavens and the earth, and (all) that is between them, the Beneficent; with Whom none can converse. (Ⅲ)
- Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, the All-merciful of whom they have no power to speak. (Ⅳ)
- (From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him. (Ⅵ)
78. 38  
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
- Yawma yaqoomu alrroohu waalmalaikatu saffan la yatakallamoona illa man athina lahu alrrahmanu waqala sawaban (Ⅰ)
- The day on which the Spirit and the angels shall stand arrayed; they speak not except him whom the Beneficent permits and who speaks aright. (Ⅱ)
- On the day when the angels and the Spirit stand arrayed, they speak not, saving him whom the Beneficent alloweth and who speaketh right. (Ⅲ)
- Upon the day when the Spirit and the angels stand in ranks they shall speak not, save him to whom the All-merciful has given leave, and who speaks aright. (Ⅳ)
- The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (Allah) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right. (Ⅵ)
78. 39  
ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا
- Thalika alyawmu alhaqqu faman shaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi maaban (Ⅰ)
- That is the Day of Certain Reality, so whoever desires may take refuge with his Lord. (Ⅱ)
- That is the True Day. So whoso will should seek recourse unto his Lord. (Ⅲ)
- That is the true day; so whosoever wills takes unto his Lord a resort. (Ⅳ)
- That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord! (Ⅵ)
78. 40  
إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا
- Inna antharnakum AAathaban qareeban yawma yanthuru almaro ma qaddamat yadahu wayaqoolu alkafiru ya laytanee kuntu turaban (Ⅰ)
- Surely We have warned you of a doom near at hand: the day when man shall see that which his two hands have sent before, and the unbeliever shall say, "O! Would that I were dust!" (Ⅱ)
- Lo! We warn you of a doom at hand, a day whereon a man will look on that which his own hands have sent before, and the disbeliever will cry: "Would that I were dust!" (Ⅲ)
- Lo, We have warned you of a nigh chastisement, upon the day when a man shall behold what his hands have forwarded, and the unbeliever shall say, ´O would that I were dust!´ (Ⅳ)
- Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust!" (Ⅵ)
