86. 0  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
86. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ
- Waalssamai waalttariqi (Ⅰ)
- By the heaven and by the night or (morning) star! (Ⅱ)
- By the heaven and the Morning Star (Ⅲ)
- By heaven and the night-star! (Ⅳ)
- By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- (Ⅵ)
86. 2  
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ
- Wama adraka ma alttariqu (Ⅰ)
- And what shall make you know what the night star is? (Ⅱ)
- - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! (Ⅲ)
- And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? (Ⅳ)
- And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- (Ⅵ)
86. 3  
النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ
- Alnnajmu alththaqibu (Ⅰ)
- The star of piercing brightness. (Ⅱ)
- - The piercing Star! (Ⅲ)
- The piercing star! (Ⅳ)
- (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- (Ⅵ)
86. 4  
إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ
- In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafithun (Ⅰ)
- Verily, every soul has a guardian over it. (Ⅱ)
- No human soul but hath a guardian over it. (Ⅲ)
- Over every soul there is a watcher. (Ⅳ)
- There is no soul but has a protector over it. (Ⅵ)
86. 5  
فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
- Falyanthuri alinsanu mimma khuliqa (Ⅰ)
- Then let man look from what he is created! (Ⅱ)
- So let man consider from what he is created. (Ⅲ)
- So let man consider of what he was created; (Ⅳ)
- Now let man but think from what he is created! (Ⅵ)
86. 6  
خُلِقَ مِن مَّاءٍ دَافِقٍ
- Khuliqa min main dafiqin (Ⅰ)
- He is created from a drop emitted (Ⅱ)
- He is created from a gushing fluid (Ⅲ)
- he was created of gushing water (Ⅳ)
- He is created from a drop emitted- (Ⅵ)
86. 7  
يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ
- Yakhruju min bayni alssulbi waalttaraibi (Ⅰ)
- Which comes out from between the loins and the breast bones. (Ⅱ)
- That issued from between the loins and ribs. (Ⅲ)
- issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. (Ⅳ)
- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: (Ⅵ)
86. 8  
إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ
- Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadirun (Ⅰ)
- Surely, He is able to bring back (to life), (Ⅱ)
- Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) (Ⅲ)
- Surely He is able to bring him back (Ⅳ)
- Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! (Ⅵ)
86. 9  
يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ
- Yawma tubla alssarairu (Ⅰ)
- On the day when the secrets shall be tried, (Ⅱ)
- On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. (Ⅲ)
- upon the day when the secrets are tried, (Ⅳ)
- The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, (Ⅵ)
86. 10  
فَمَا لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ
- Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasirin (Ⅰ)
- And man shall have neither strength nor helper. (Ⅱ)
- Then will he have no might nor any helper. (Ⅲ)
- and he shall have no strength, no helper. (Ⅳ)
- (Man) will have no power, and no helper. (Ⅵ)
86. 11  
وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ
- Waalssamai thati alrrajAAi (Ⅰ)
- By the Firmament which returns in its rounds, (Ⅱ)
- By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, (Ⅲ)
- By heaven of the returning rain, (Ⅳ)
- By the Firmament which returns (in its round), (Ⅵ)
86. 12  
وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ
- Waalardi thati alssadAAi (Ⅰ)
- And the earth with its sprouting! (Ⅱ)
- And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) (Ⅲ)
- by earth splitting with verdure, (Ⅳ)
- And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- (Ⅵ)
86. 13  
إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ
- Innahu laqawlun faslun (Ⅰ)
- Verily, this is indeed a discriminating word, (Ⅱ)
- Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, (Ⅲ)
- surely it is a decisive word; (Ⅳ)
- Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): (Ⅵ)
86. 14  
وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ
- Wama huwa bialhazli (Ⅰ)
- And it is no frivolity! (Ⅱ)
- It is no pleasantry. (Ⅲ)
- it is no merriment. (Ⅳ)
- It is not a thing for amusement. (Ⅵ)
86. 15  
إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا
- Innahum yakeedoona kaydan (Ⅰ)
- As for them, they do plot a scheme! (Ⅱ)
- Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) (Ⅲ)
- They are devising guile, (Ⅳ)
- As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, (Ⅵ)
86. 16  
وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا
- Waakeedu kaydan (Ⅰ)
- But I plot my scheme too! (Ⅱ)
- And I plot a plot (against them). (Ⅲ)
- and I am devising guile. (Ⅳ)
- And I am planning a scheme. (Ⅵ)
86. 17  
فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا
- Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwaydan (Ⅰ)
- So give respite to the unbelievers; deal you gently with them for a while. (Ⅱ)
- So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. (Ⅲ)
- So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. (Ⅳ)
- Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). (Ⅵ)
