بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
69. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَاقَّةُ
- Alhaqqatu (Ⅰ)
- The sure Reality! (Ⅱ)
- The Reality! (Ⅲ)
- The Indubitable! (Ⅳ)
- The Sure Reality! (Ⅵ)
69. 2  
مَا الْحَاقَّةُ
- Ma alhaqqatu (Ⅰ)
- What is the sure Reality? (Ⅱ)
- What is the Reality ? (Ⅲ)
- What is the Indubitable? (Ⅳ)
- What is the Sure Reality? (Ⅵ)
69. 3  
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحَاقَّةُ
- Wama adraka ma alhaqqatu (Ⅰ)
- And what would make you realize what the sure Reality is? (Ⅱ)
- Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! (Ⅲ)
- And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? (Ⅳ)
- And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? (Ⅵ)
69. 4  
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌ بِالْقَارِعَةِ
- Kaththabat thamoodu waAAadun bialqariAAati (Ⅰ)
- Thamud and A´ad called the Stunning Calamity (the Day of Judgment) a lie. (Ⅱ)
- (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. (Ⅲ)
- Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. (Ⅳ)
- The Thamud and the ´Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! (Ⅵ)
69. 5  
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ
- Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bialttaghiyati (Ⅰ)
- But the Thamud, they were destroyed by the Storm of thunder and lightening. (Ⅱ)
- As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. (Ⅲ)
- As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; (Ⅳ)
- But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! (Ⅵ)
69. 6  
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
- Waamma AAadun faohlikoo bireehin sarsarin AAatiyatin (Ⅰ)
- And the A´ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent wind. (Ⅱ)
- And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, (Ⅲ)
- and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, (Ⅳ)
- And the ´Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; (Ⅵ)
69. 7  
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
- Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalin wathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fatara alqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin khawiyatun (Ⅰ)
- Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. (Ⅱ)
- Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm- trees. (Ⅲ)
- violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. (Ⅳ)
- He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! (Ⅵ)
69. 8  
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّن بَاقِيَةٍ
- Fahal tara lahum min baqiyatin (Ⅰ)
- Do you then see any of them remaining? (Ⅱ)
- Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them ? (Ⅲ)
- Now dost thou see any remnant of them? (Ⅳ)
- Then seest thou any of them left surviving? (Ⅵ)
69. 9  
وَجَاءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِ
- Wajaa firAAawnu waman qablahu waalmutafikatu bialkhatiati (Ⅰ)
- And Pharaoh and those before him and the overthrown cities (Sodom and Gomorrah) continuously committed sins. (Ⅱ)
- And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, (Ⅲ)
- Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, (Ⅳ)
- And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. (Ⅵ)
69. 10  
فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
- FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahum akhthatan rabiyatan (Ⅰ)
- And they disobeyed the Messengers of their Lord, so He punished them with a severe punishment. (Ⅱ)
- And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. (Ⅲ)
- and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. (Ⅳ)
- And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. (Ⅵ)
69. 11  
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَى الْمَاءُ حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي الْجَارِيَةِ
- Inna lamma tagha almao hamalnakum fee aljariyati (Ⅰ)
- Surely We bore you (mankind) up in the Ark when the water rose high, (Ⅱ)
- Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship (Ⅲ)
- Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship (Ⅳ)
- We, when the water (of Noah´s Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), (Ⅵ)
69. 12  
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ
- LinajAAalaha lakum tathkiratan wataAAiyaha othunun waAAiyatun (Ⅰ)
- So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it (in memory). (Ⅱ)
- That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. (Ⅲ)
- that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. (Ⅳ)
- That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. (Ⅵ)
69. 13  
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ
- Faitha nufikha fee alssoori nafkhatun wahidatun (Ⅰ)
- And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, (Ⅱ)
- And when the trumpet shall sound one blast (Ⅲ)
- So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast (Ⅳ)
- Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, (Ⅵ)
69. 14  
وَحُمِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَاحِدَةً
- Wahumilati alardu waaljibalu fadukkata dakkatan wahidatan (Ⅰ)
- And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. (Ⅱ)
- And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, (Ⅲ)
- and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, (Ⅳ)
- And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- (Ⅵ)
69. 15  
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ
- Fayawmaithin waqaAAati alwaqiAAatu (Ⅰ)
- On that day shall the Great Event come to pass, (Ⅱ)
- Then, on that day will the Event befall. (Ⅲ)
- then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, (Ⅳ)
- On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. (Ⅵ)
69. 16  
وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
- Wainshaqqati alssamao fahiya yawmaithin wahiyatun (Ⅰ)
- And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that Day it shall be frail, (Ⅱ)
- And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. (Ⅲ)
- and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, (Ⅳ)
- And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, (Ⅵ)
69. 17  
وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰ أَرْجَائِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ
- Waalmalaku AAala arjaiha wayahmilu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawmaithin thamaniyatun (Ⅰ)
- And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear the Throne of their Lord that Day. (Ⅱ)
- And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. (Ⅲ)
- and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. (Ⅳ)
- And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. (Ⅵ)
69. 18  
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
- Yawmaithin tuAAradoona la takhfa minkum khafiyatun (Ⅰ)
- On that day you shall be exposed to view, no secret of yours shall remain hidden. (Ⅱ)
- On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. (Ⅲ)
- On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. (Ⅳ)
- That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. (Ⅵ)
69. 19  
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَيَقُولُ هَاؤُمُ اقْرَءُوا كِتَابِيَهْ
- Faamma man ootiya kitabahu biyameenihi fayaqoolu haomu iqraoo kitabiyah (Ⅰ)
- Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, "Here! Read my book: (Ⅱ)
- Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! (Ⅲ)
- Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, ´Here, take and read my book! (Ⅳ)
- Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! (Ⅵ)
69. 20  
إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلَاقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
- Innee thanantu annee mulaqin hisabiyah (Ⅰ)
- "Surely I knew that I shall meet my account." (Ⅱ)
- Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. (Ⅲ)
- Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.´ (Ⅳ)
- "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" (Ⅵ)
69. 21  
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
- Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiyatin (Ⅰ)
- So he shall be in a life of Bliss, (Ⅱ)
- Then he will be in blissful state (Ⅲ)
- So he shall be in a pleasing life (Ⅳ)
- And he will be in a life of Bliss, (Ⅵ)
69. 22  
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
- Fee jannatin AAaliyatin (Ⅰ)
- In a lofty garden, (Ⅱ)
- In a high garden (Ⅲ)
- in a lofty Garden, (Ⅳ)
- In a Garden on high, (Ⅵ)
69. 23  
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
- Qutoofuha daniyatun (Ⅰ)
- The fruits of which are near at hand: (Ⅱ)
- Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. (Ⅲ)
- its clusters nigh to gather. (Ⅳ)
- The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. (Ⅵ)
69. 24  
كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ
- Kuloo waishraboo haneean bima aslaftum fee alayyami alkhaliyati (Ⅰ)
- Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. (Ⅱ)
- (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. (Ⅲ)
- ´Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.´ (Ⅳ)
- "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" (Ⅵ)
69. 25  
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيَهْ
- Waamma man ootiya kitabahu bishimalihi fayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oota kitabiyah (Ⅰ)
- And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say, "O would that my book had never been given me: (Ⅱ)
- But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book (Ⅲ)
- But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, ´Would that I had not been given my book (Ⅳ)
- And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! (Ⅵ)
69. 26  
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
- Walam adri ma hisabiyah (Ⅰ)
- "And I did not know how my account stood: (Ⅱ)
- And knew not what my reckoning! (Ⅲ)
- and not known my reckoning! (Ⅳ)
- "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! (Ⅵ)
69. 27  
يَا لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِيَةَ
- Ya laytaha kanati alqadiyatu (Ⅰ)
- "O would that it (death) had made an end of me: (Ⅱ)
- Oh, would that it had been death! (Ⅲ)
- Would it had been the end! (Ⅳ)
- "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! (Ⅵ)
69. 28  
مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّي مَالِيَهْ ۜ
- Ma aghna AAannee maliyah (Ⅰ)
- "My wealth has availed me nothing: (Ⅱ)
- My wealth hath not availed me, (Ⅲ)
- My wealth has not availed me, (Ⅳ)
- "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! (Ⅵ)
69. 29  
هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلْطَانِيَهْ
- Halaka AAannee sultaniyah (Ⅰ)
- "My authority has perished away from me." (Ⅱ)
- My power hath gone from me. (Ⅲ)
- my authority is gone from me.´ (Ⅳ)
- "My power has perished from me!"... (Ⅵ)
69. 30  
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
- Khuthoohu faghulloohu (Ⅰ)
- (The command is given) "Seize him, and chain him, (Ⅱ)
- (It will be said): Take him and fetter him (Ⅲ)
- ´Take him, and fetter him, (Ⅳ)
- (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, (Ⅵ)
69. 31  
ثُمَّ الْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
- Thumma aljaheema salloohu (Ⅰ)
- "Then cast him into the burning Fire, (Ⅱ)
- And then expose him to hell-fire (Ⅲ)
- and then roast him in Hell, (Ⅳ)
- "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. (Ⅵ)
69. 32  
ثُمَّ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُكُوهُ
- Thumma fee silsilatin tharAAuha sabAAoona thiraAAan faoslukoohu (Ⅰ)
- "Then march him tied to a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. (Ⅱ)
- And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. (Ⅲ)
- then in a chain of seventy cubits´ length insert him! (Ⅳ)
- "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! (Ⅵ)
69. 33  
إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ
- Innahu kana la yuminu biAllahi alAAatheemi (Ⅰ)
- "Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, (Ⅱ)
- Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, (Ⅲ)
- Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, (Ⅳ)
- "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. (Ⅵ)
69. 34  
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
- Wala yahuddu AAala taAAami almiskeeni (Ⅰ)
- "Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. (Ⅱ)
- And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. (Ⅲ)
- and he never urged the feeding of the needy; (Ⅳ)
- "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! (Ⅵ)
69. 35  
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
- Falaysa lahu alyawma hahuna hameemun (Ⅰ)
- "Therefore he has not here today a true friend, (Ⅱ)
- Therefor hath he no lover here this day, (Ⅲ)
- therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, (Ⅳ)
- "So no friend hath he here this Day. (Ⅵ)
69. 36  
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
- Wala taAAamun illa min ghisleenin (Ⅰ)
- "Nor any food except filth, (Ⅱ)
- Nor any food save filth (Ⅲ)
- neither any food saving foul pus, (Ⅳ)
- "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, (Ⅵ)
69. 37  
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُ إِلَّا الْخَاطِئُونَ
- La yakuluhu illa alkhatioona (Ⅰ)
- "Which none but the wrongdoers eat." (Ⅱ)
- Which none but sinners eat. (Ⅲ)
- that none excepting the sinners eat.´ (Ⅳ)
- "Which none do eat but those in sin." (Ⅵ)
69. 38  
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
- Fala oqsimu bima tubsiroona (Ⅰ)
- But nay! I swear (or call to witness) by that which you see, (Ⅱ)
- But nay! I swear by all that ye see (Ⅲ)
- No! I swear by that you see (Ⅳ)
- So I do call to witness what ye see, (Ⅵ)
69. 39  
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
- Wama la tubsiroona (Ⅰ)
- And that which you do not see. (Ⅱ)
- And all that ye see not (Ⅲ)
- and by that you do not see, (Ⅳ)
- And what ye see not, (Ⅵ)
69. 40  
إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
- Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin (Ⅰ)
- Most surely, it is the Word brought by an honoured Messenger, (Ⅱ)
- That it is indeed the speech of an illustrious messenger. (Ⅲ)
- it is the speech of a noble Messenger. (Ⅳ)
- That this is verily the word of an honoured messenger; (Ⅵ)
69. 41  
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
- Wama huwa biqawli shaAAirin qaleelan ma tuminoona (Ⅰ)
- And it is not the word of a poet; little is it that you believe; (Ⅱ)
- It is not poet's speech - little is it that ye believe! (Ⅲ)
- It is not the speech of a poet (little do you believe) (Ⅳ)
- It is not the word of a poet: little it is ye believe! (Ⅵ)
69. 42  
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
- Wala biqawli kahinin qaleelan ma tathakkaroona (Ⅰ)
- Nor the word of a soothsayer; little is it that you mind. (Ⅱ)
- Nor diviner's speech - little is it that ye remember! (Ⅲ)
- nor the speech of a soothsayer (little do you remember). (Ⅳ)
- Nor is it the word of a soothsayer: little admonition it is ye receive. (Ⅵ)
69. 43  
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
- Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. (Ⅱ)
- It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. (Ⅲ)
- A sending down from the Lord of all Being. (Ⅳ)
- (This is) a Message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds. (Ⅵ)
69. 44  
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ الْأَقَاوِيلِ
- Walaw taqawwala AAalayna baAAda alaqaweeli (Ⅰ)
- And if he had fabricated against Us some of the sayings, (Ⅱ)
- And if he had invented false sayings concerning Us, (Ⅲ)
- Had he invented against Us any sayings, (Ⅳ)
- And if the messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name, (Ⅵ)
69. 45  
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِالْيَمِينِ
- Laakhathna minhu bialyameeni (Ⅰ)
- We would certainly have seized him by the right hand, (Ⅱ)
- We assuredly had taken him by the right hand (Ⅲ)
- We would have seized him by the right hand, (Ⅳ)
- We should certainly seize him by his right hand, (Ⅵ)
69. 46  
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِينَ
- Thumma laqataAAna minhu alwateena (Ⅰ)
- Then We would certainly have severed his life-artery. (Ⅱ)
- And then severed his life-artery, (Ⅲ)
- then We would surely have cut his life-vein (Ⅳ)
- And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart: (Ⅵ)
69. 47  
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَاجِزِينَ
- Fama minkum min ahadin AAanhu hajizeena (Ⅰ)
- And not one of you could have withheld Us from him. (Ⅱ)
- And not one of you could have held Us off from him. (Ⅲ)
- and not one of you could have defended him. (Ⅳ)
- Nor could any of you withhold him (from Our wrath). (Ⅵ)
69. 48  
وَإِنَّهُ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
- Wainnahu latathkiratun lilmuttaqeena (Ⅰ)
- And verily, it is a reminder for those who guard against evil. (Ⅱ)
- And lo! it is a warrant unto those who ward off (evil). (Ⅲ)
- Surely it is a Reminder to the godfearing; (Ⅳ)
- But verily this is a Message for the Allah-fearing. (Ⅵ)
69. 49  
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
- Wainna lanaAAlamu anna minkum mukaththibeena (Ⅰ)
- And verily, We know that some of you are rejecters. (Ⅱ)
