10. 1  
Pendant qu'Esdras, pleurant et prosterné devant la maison de Dieu, faisait cette prière et cette confession, il s'était rassemblé auprès de lui une foule très nombreuse de gens d'Israël, hommes, femmes et enfants, et le peuple répandait d'abondantes larmes.
- Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore. (Ⅱ)
- Sic ergo orante Esdra, et implorante eo et flente, et jacente ante templum Dei, collectus est ad eum de Israël cœtus grandis nimis virorum et mulierum et puerorum, et flevit populus fletu multo. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃10  וכהתפלל עזרא וכהתודתו‪[1]‬‪[C]‬ בכה ומתנפל לפני בית האלהים נקבצו אליו מישראל קהל רב מאד אנשים ונשים וילדים כי בכו העם הרבה בכה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

Alors Schecania, fils de Jehiel, d'entre les fils d'Élam, prit la parole et dit à Esdras: Nous avons péché contre notre Dieu, en nous alliant à des femmes étrangères qui appartiennent aux peuples du pays. Mais Israël ne reste pas pour cela sans espérance.
- And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing. (Ⅱ)
- Et respondit Sechenias filius Jehiel de filiis Ælam, et dixit Esdræ : Nos prævaricati sumus in Deum nostrum, et duximus uxores alienigenas de populis terræ : et nunc, si est pœnitentia in Israël super hoc, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃10  ויען שכניה בן יחיאל מבני *עולם **עילם ויאמר לעזרא אנחנו מעלנו באלהינו ונשב נשים נכריות מעמי הארץ ועתה יש מקוה לישראל על זאת ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 3  
Faisons maintenant une alliance avec notre Dieu pour le renvoi de toutes ces femmes et de leurs enfants, selon l'avis de mon seigneur et de ceux qui tremblent devant les commandements de notre Dieu. Et que l'on agisse d'après la loi.
- Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law. (Ⅱ)
- percutiamus fœdus cum Domino Deo nostro, ut projiciamus universas uxores, et eos qui de his nati sunt, juxta voluntatem Domini, et eorum qui timent præceptum Domini Dei nostri : secundum legem fiat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃10  ועתה נכרת ברית לאלהינו להוציא כל נשים והנולד מהם בעצת אדני והחרדים במצות אלהינו וכתורה יעשה ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 4  
Lève-toi, car cette affaire te regarde. Nous serons avec toi. Prends courage et agis.
- Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it. (Ⅱ)
- Surge, tuum est decernere, nosque erimus tecum : confortare, et fac. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃10  קום כי עליך הדבר ואנחנו עמך חזק ועשה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 5  
Esdras se leva, et il fit jurer aux chefs des sacrificateurs, des Lévites, et de tout Israël, de faire ce qui venait d'être dit. Et ils le jurèrent.
- Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware. (Ⅱ)
- Surrexit ergo Esdras, et adjuravit principes sacerdotum et Levitarum, et omnem Israël, ut facerent secundum verbum hoc : et juraverunt. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃10  ויקם עזרא וישבע את שרי הכהנים הלוים וכל ישראל לעשות כדבר הזה וישבעו ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 6  
Puis Esdras se retira de devant la maison de Dieu, et il alla dans la chambre de Jochanan, fils d'Éliaschib; quand il y fut entré, il ne mangea point de pain et il ne but point d'eau, parce qu'il était dans la désolation à cause du péché des fils de la captivité.
- Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away. (Ⅱ)
- Et surrexit Esdras ante domum Dei, et abiit ad cubiculum Johanan filii Eliasib, et ingressus est illuc : panem non comedit, et aquam non bibit : lugebat enim transgressionem eorum, qui venerant de captivitate. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃10  ויקם עזרא מלפני בית האלהים וילך אל לשכת יהוחנן בן אלישיב וילך שם לחם לא אכל ומים לא שתה כי מתאבל על מעל הגולה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 7  
On publia dans Juda et à Jérusalem que tous les fils de la captivité eussent à se réunir à Jérusalem,
- And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem; (Ⅱ)
- Et missa est vox in Juda et in Jerusalem omnibus filiis transmigrationis, ut congregarentur in Jerusalem : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃10  ויעבירו קול ביהודה וירושלם לכל בני הגולה להקבץ ירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 8  
et que, d'après l'avis des chefs et des anciens, quiconque ne s'y serait pas rendu dans trois jours aurait tous ses biens confisqués et serait lui-même exclu de l'assemblée des fils de la captivité.
- And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away. (Ⅱ)
- et omnis qui non venerit in tribus diebus juxta consilium principum et seniorum, auferetur universa substantia ejus, et ipse abjicietur de cœtu transmigrationis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃10  וכל אשר לא יבוא לשלשת הימים כעצת השרים והזקנים יחרם כל רכושו והוא יבדל מקהל הגולה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 9  
Tous les hommes de Juda et de Benjamin se rassemblèrent à Jérusalem dans les trois jours. C'était le vingtième jour du neuvième mois. Tout le peuple se tenait sur la place de la maison de Dieu, tremblant à cause de la circonstance et par suite de la pluie.
- Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain. (Ⅱ)
- Convenerunt igitur omnes viri Juda et Benjamin in Jerusalem tribus diebus : ipse est mensis nonus, vigesimo die mensis : et sedit omnis populus in platea domus Dei, trementes pro peccato, et pluviis.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃10  ויקבצו כל אנשי יהודה ובנימן ירושלם לשלשת הימים הוא חדש התשיעי בעשרים בחדש וישבו כל העם ברחוב בית האלהים מרעידים על הדבר ומהגשמים פ‬ (Ⅴ)

Esdras, le sacrificateur, se leva et leur dit: Vous avez péché en vous alliant à des femmes étrangères, et vous avez rendu Israël encore plus coupable.
- And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. (Ⅱ)
- Et surrexit Esdras sacerdos, et dixit ad eos : Vos transgressi estis, et duxistis uxores alienigenas, ut adderetis super delictum Israël. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃10  ויקם עזרא הכהן ויאמר אלהם אתם מעלתם ותשיבו נשים נכריות להוסיף על אשמת ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

Confessez maintenant votre faute à l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, et faites sa volonté! Séparez-vous des peuples du pays et des femmes étrangères.
- Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. (Ⅱ)
- Et nunc date confessionem Domino Deo patrum vestrorum, et facite placitum ejus, et separamini a populis terræ, et ab uxoribus alienigenis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃10  ועתה תנו תודה ליהוה אלהי אבתיכם ועשו רצונו והבדלו מעמי הארץ ומן הנשים הנכריות ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 12  
Toute l'assemblée répondit d'une voix haute: A nous de faire comme tu l'as dit!
- Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do. (Ⅱ)
- Et respondit universa multitudo, dixitque voce magna : Juxta verbum tuum ad nos, sic fiat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃10  ויענו כל הקהל ויאמרו קול גדול כן *כדבריך **כדברך עלינו לעשות ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 13  
Mais le peuple est nombreux, le temps est à la pluie, et il n'est pas possible de rester dehors; d'ailleurs, ce n'est pas l'oeuvre d'un jour ou deux, car il y en a beaucoup parmi nous qui ont péché dans cette affaire.
- But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing. (Ⅱ)
- Verumtamen quia populus multus est, et tempus pluviæ, et non sustinemus stare foris, et opus non est diei unius vel duorum (vehementer quippe peccavimus in sermone isto), (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃10  אבל העם רב והעת גשמים ואין כח לעמוד בחוץ והמלאכה לא ליום אחד ולא לשנים כי הרבינו לפשע בדבר הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 14  
Que nos chefs restent donc pour toute l'assemblée; et tous ceux qui dans nos villes se sont alliés à des femmes étrangères viendront à des époques fixes, avec les anciens et les juges de chaque ville, jusqu'à ce que l'ardente colère de notre Dieu se soit détournée de nous au sujet de cette affaire.
- Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us. (Ⅱ)
- constituantur principes in universa multitudine : et omnes in civitatibus nostris qui duxerunt uxores alienigenas veniant in temporibus statutis, et cum his seniores per civitatem et civitatem, et judices ejus, donec avertatur ira Dei nostri a nobis super peccato hoc. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃10  יעמדו נא שרינו לכל הקהל וכל אשר בערינו ההשיב נשים נכריות יבא לעתים מזמנים ועמהם זקני עיר ועיר ושפטיה עד להשיב חרון אף אלהינו ממנו עד לדבר הזה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 15  
Jonathan, fils d'Asaël, et Jachzia, fils de Thikva, appuyés par Meschullam et par le Lévite Schabthai, furent les seuls à combattre cet avis,
- Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them. (Ⅱ)
- Igitur Jonathan filius Azahel, et Jaasia filius Thecue, steterunt super hoc, et Messollam et Sebethai Levites adjuverunt eos : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃10  אך יונתן בן עשהאל ויחזיה בן תקוה עמדו על זאת ומשלם ושבתי הלוי עזרם ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 16  
auquel se conformèrent les fils de la captivité. On choisit Esdras, le sacrificateur, et des chefs de famille selon leurs maisons paternelles, tous désignés par leurs noms; et ils siégèrent le premier jour du dixième mois pour s'occuper de la chose.
- And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter. (Ⅱ)
- feceruntque sic filii transmigrationis. Et abierunt Esdras sacerdos, et viri principes familiarum, in domos patrum suorum, et omnes per nomina sua, et sederunt in die primo mensis decimi ut quærerent rem. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃10  ויעשו כן בני הגולה ויבדלו עזרא הכהן אנשים ראשי האבות לבית אבתם וכלם בשמות וישבו ביום אחד לחדש העשירי לדריוש הדבר ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 17  
Le premier jour du premier mois, ils en finirent avec tous les hommes qui s'étaient alliés à des femmes étrangères.
- And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month. (Ⅱ)
- Et consummati sunt omnes viri, qui duxerant uxores alienigenas, usque ad diem primam mensis primi.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃10  ויכלו בכל אנשים ההשיבו נשים נכריות עד יום אחד לחדש הראשון פ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 18  
Parmi les fils de sacrificateurs, il s'en trouva qui s'étaient alliés à des femmes étrangères: des fils de Josué, fils de Jotsadak, et de ses frères, Maaséja, Éliézer, Jarib et Guedalia,
- And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah. (Ⅱ)
- Et inventi sunt de filiis sacerdotum qui duxerant uxores alienigenas. De filiis Josue filii Josedec, et fratres ejus, Maasia, et Eliezer, et Jarib, et Godolia. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃10  וימצא מבני הכהנים אשר השיבו נשים נכריות מבני‪[C]‬‪[c]‬ ישוע בן יוצדק ואחיו מעשיה ואליעזר ויריב וגדליה ‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 19  
qui s'engagèrent, en donnant la main, à renvoyer leurs femmes et à offrir un bélier en sacrifice de culpabilité;
- And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass. (Ⅱ)
- Et dederunt manus suas ut ejicerent uxores suas, et pro delicto suo arietem de ovibus offerrent. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃10  ויתנו ידם להוציא נשיהם ואשמים איל צאן על אשמתם ס‬ (Ⅴ)
10. 20  
des fils d'Immer, Hanani et Zebadia;
- And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Emmer, Hanani, et Zebedia. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃10  ומבני אמר חנני וזבדיה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils de Harim, Maaséja, Élie, Schemaeja, Jehiel et Ozias;
- And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Harim, Maasia, et Elia, et Semeia, et Jehiel, et Ozias. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃10  ומבני חרם מעשיה ואליה ושמעיה ויחיאל ועזיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils de Paschhur, Eljoénaï, Maaséja, Ismaël, Nethaneel, Jozabad et Éleasa.
- And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Pheshur, Elioënai, Maasia, Ismaël, Nathanaël, Jozabed, et Elasa. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃10  ומבני פשחור אליועיני מעשיה ישמעאל נתנאל יוזבד ואלעשה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

Parmi les Lévites: Jozabad, Schimeï, Kélaja ou Kelitha, Pethachja, Juda et Éliézer.
- Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Levitarum, Jozabed, et Semei, et Celaia, ipse est Calita, Phataia, Juda, et Eliezer. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃10  ומן הלוים יוזבד ושמעי וקליה הוא קליטא פתחיה יהודה ואליעזר ס‬ (Ⅴ)

Parmi les chantres: Éliaschib. Parmi les portiers: Schallum, Thélem et Uri.
- Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri. (Ⅱ)
- Et de cantoribus, Eliasib. Et de janitoribus, Sellum, et Telem, et Uri. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃10  ומן המשררים אלישיב ומן השערים שלם וטלם ואורי ס‬ (Ⅴ)

Parmi ceux d'Israël: des fils de Pareosch, Ramia, Jizzija, Malkija, Mijamin, Éléazar, Malkija et Benaja;
- Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah. (Ⅱ)
- Et ex Israël, de filiis Pharos, Remeia, et Jesia, et Melchia, et Miamin, et Eliezer, et Melchia, et Banea. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃10  ומישראל מבני פרעש רמיה ויזיה ומלכיה ומימן ואלעזר ומלכיה ובניה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils d'Élam, Matthania, Zacharie, Jehiel, Abdi, Jerémoth et Élie;
- And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Ælam, Mathania, Zacharias, et Jehiel, et Abdi, et Jerimoth, et Elia. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃10  ומבני עילם מתניה זכריה ויחיאל ועבדי וירמות ואליה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils de Zatthu, Eljoénaï, Éliaschib, Matthania, Jerémoth, Zabad et Aziza;
- And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Zethua, Elioënai, Eliasib, Mathania, et Jerimuth, et Zabad, et Aziza. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃10  ומבני זתוא אליועני אלישיב מתניה וירמות וזבד ועזיזא ס‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils de Bébaï, Jochanan, Hanania, Zabbaï et Athlaï;
- Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Bebai, Johanan, Hanania, Zabbai, Athalai. (Ⅳ)

des fils de Bani, Meschullam, Malluc, Adaja, Jaschub, Scheal et Ramoth;
- And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Bani, Mosollam, et Melluch, et Adaia, Jasub, et Saal, et Ramoth. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃10  ומבני בני משלם מלוך ועדיה ישוב ושאל *ירמות **ורמות ס‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils de Pachath Moab, Adna, Kelal, Benaja, Maaséja, Matthania, Betsaleel, Binnuï et Manassé;
- And of the sons of Pahathmoab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh. (Ⅱ)
- Et de filiis Phahath Moab, Edna, et Chalal, Banaias, et Maasias, Mathanias, Beseleel, Bennui, et Manasse. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃10  ומבני פחת מואב עדנא וכלל בניה מעשיה מתניה בצלאל ובנוי ומנשה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

des fils de Harim, Éliézer, Jischija, Malkija, Schemaeja, Siméon,
- And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon, (Ⅱ)
