2. 1

In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

- Le vingt et unième jour du septième mois, la parole de l'Éternel se révéla par Aggée, le prophète, en ces mots: (Ⅱ)

- τω̨̃ ἑβδόμω̨ μηνὶ μια̨̃ καὶ εἰκάδι του̃ μηνὸς ἐλάλησεν κύριος ἐν χειρὶ Αγγαιου του̃ προφήτου λέγων (Ⅲ)

- In septimo mense, vigesima et prima mensis, factum est verbum Domini in manu Aggæi prophetæ, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃2 בשביעי בעשרים ואחד לחדש היה דבר יהוה ביד חגי הנביא לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

- Parle à Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, gouverneur de Juda, à Josué, fils de Jotsadak, le souverain sacrificateur, et au reste du peuple, et dis-leur: (Ⅱ)

- εἰπὸν δὴ πρὸς Ζοροβαβελ τὸν του̃ Σαλαθιηλ ἐκ φυλη̃ς Ιουδα καὶ πρὸς 'Ιησου̃ν τὸν του̃ Ιωσεδεκ τὸν ἱερέα τὸν μέγαν καὶ πρὸς πάντας τοὺς καταλοίπους του̃ λαου̃ λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Loquere ad Zorobabel, filium Salathiel, ducem Juda, et ad Jesum, filium Josedec, sacerdotem magnum, et ad reliquos populi, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃2 אמר נא אל זרבבל בן שלתיאל פחת יהודה ואל יהושע בן יהוצדק הכהן הגדול ואל שארית העם לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

- Quel est parmi vous le survivant Qui ait vu cette maison dans sa gloire première? Et comment la voyez-vous maintenant? Telle qu'elle est, ne paraît-elle pas comme rien à vos yeux? (Ⅱ)

- τίς ἐξ ὑμω̃ν ὃς εἰ̃δεν τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃τον ἐν τη̨̃ δόξη̨ αὐτου̃ τη̨̃ ἔμπροσθεν καὶ πω̃ς ὑμει̃ς βλέπετε αὐτὸν νυ̃ν καθὼς οὐχ ὑπάρχοντα ἐνώπιον ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quis in vobis est derelictus,/ qui vidit domum istam in gloria sua prima ?/ et quid vos videtis hanc nunc ?/ numquid non ita est, quasi non sit in oculis vestris ?/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃2 מי בכם הנשאר אשר ראה את הבית הזה בכבודו הראשון ומה אתם ראים אתו עתה הלוא כמהו כאין בעיניכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 4

Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

- Maintenant fortifie-toi, Zorobabel! dit l'Éternel. Fortifie-toi, Josué, fils de Jotsadak, souverain sacrificateur! Fortifie-toi, peuple entier du pays! dit l'Éternel. Et travaillez! Car je suis avec vous, Dit l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν κατίσχυε Ζοροβαβελ λέγει κύριος καὶ κατίσχυε 'Ιησου̃ ὁ του̃ Ιωσεδεκ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας καὶ κατισχυέτω πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς τη̃ς γη̃ς λέγει κύριος καὶ ποιει̃τε διότι μεθ' ὑμω̃ν ἐγώ εἰμι λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ (Ⅲ)

- Et nunc confortare, Zorobabel, dicit Dominus ;/ et confortare, Jesu, fili Josedec, sacerdos magne ;/ et confortare, omnis populus terræ, dicit Dominus exercituum :/ et facite (quoniam ego vobiscum sum, dicit Dominus exercituum)/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃2 ועתה חזק זרבבל נאם יהוה וחזק יהושע בן יהוצדק הכהן הגדול וחזק כל עם הארץ נאם יהוה ועשו כי אני אתכם נאם יהוה צבאות ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 5

According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

- Je reste fidèle à l'alliance que j'ai faite avec vous Quand vous sortîtes de l'Égypte, Et mon esprit est au milieu de vous; Ne craignez pas! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸ πνευ̃μά μου ἐφέστηκεν ἐν μέσω̨ ὑμω̃ν θαρσει̃τε (Ⅲ)

- verbum quod pepigi vobiscum cum egrederemini de terra Ægypti :/ et spiritus meus erit in medio vestrum : nolite timere./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃2 את הדבר אשר כרתי אתכם בצאתכם ממצרים ורוחי עמדת בתוככם אל תיראו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 6

For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

- Car ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Encore un peu de temps, Et j'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, La mer et le sec; (Ⅱ)

- διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ἔτι ἅπαξ ἐγὼ σείσω τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ τὴν ξηράν (Ⅲ)

- Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :/ Adhuc unum modicum est,/ et ego commovebo cælum, et terram, et mare, et aridam./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃2 כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות עוד אחת מעט היא ואני מרעיש את השמים ואת הארץ ואת הים ואת החרבה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 7

And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

- J'ébranlerai toutes les nations; Les trésors de toutes les nations viendront, Et je remplirai de gloire cette maison, Dit l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ συσσείσω πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ ἥξει τὰ ἐκλεκτὰ πάντων τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν καὶ πλήσω τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃τον δόξης λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ (Ⅲ)

- Et movebo omnes gentes,/ et veniet desideratus cunctis gentibus :/ et implebo domum istam gloria,/ dicit Dominus exercituum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃2 והרעשתי את כל הגוים ובאו חמדת כל הגוים ומלאתי את הבית הזה כבוד אמר יהוה צבאות ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 8

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

- L'argent est à moi, et l'or est à moi, Dit l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ)

- ἐμὸν τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ ἐμὸν τὸ χρυσίον λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ (Ⅲ)

- Meum est argentum, et meum est aurum,/ dicit Dominus exercituum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃2 לי הכסף ולי הזהב נאם יהוה צבאות ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 9

The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

- La gloire de cette dernière maison sera plus grande Que celle de la première, Dit l'Éternel des armées; Et c'est dans ce lieu que je donnerai la paix, Dit l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ)

- διότι μεγάλη ἔσται ἡ δόξα του̃ οἴκου τούτου ἡ ἐσχάτη ὑπὲρ τὴν πρώτην λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ τόπω̨ τούτω̨ δώσω εἰρήνην λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ εἰρήνην ψυχη̃ς εἰς περιποίησιν παντὶ τω̨̃ κτίζοντι του̃ ἀναστη̃σαι τὸν ναὸν του̃τον (Ⅲ)

- Magna erit gloria domus istius novissimæ plus quam primæ,/ dicit Dominus exercituum :/ et in loco isto dabo pacem,/ dicit Dominus exercituum.]\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃2 גדול יהיה כבוד הבית הזה האחרון מן הראשון אמר יהוה צבאות ובמקום הזה אתן שלום נאם יהוה צבאות פ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 10

In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

- le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l'Éternel se révéla par Aggée, le prophète, en ces mots: (Ⅱ)

- τετράδι καὶ εἰκάδι του̃ ἐνάτου μηνὸς ἔτους δευτέρου ἐπὶ Δαρείου ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Αγγαιον τὸν προφήτην λέγων (Ⅲ)

- In vigesima et quarta noni mensis, in anno secundo Darii regis, factum est verbum Domini ad Aggæum prophetam, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃2 בעשרים וארבעה לתשיעי בשנת שתים לדריוש היה דבר יהוה אל חגי הנביא לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 11

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

- Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Propose aux sacrificateurs cette question sur la loi: (Ⅱ)

- τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ἐπερώτησον τοὺς ἱερει̃ς νόμον λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Interroga sacerdotes legem, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃2 כה אמר יהוה צבאות שאל נא את הכהנים תורה לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 12

If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

- Si quelqu'un porte dans le pan de son vêtement de la chair consacrée, et qu'il touche avec son vêtement du pain, des mets, du vin, de l'huile, ou un aliment quelconque, ces choses seront-elles sanctifiées? Les sacrificateurs répondirent: Non! (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν λάβη̨ ἄνθρωπος κρέας ἅγιον ἐν τω̨̃ ἄκρω̨ του̃ ἱματίου αὐτου̃ καὶ ἅψηται τὸ ἄκρον του̃ ἱματίου αὐτου̃ ἄρτου ἢ ἑψέματος ἢ οἴνου ἢ ἐλαίου ἢ παντὸς βρώματος εἰ ἁγιασθήσεται καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ ἱερει̃ς καὶ εἰ̃παν οὔ (Ⅲ)

- Si tulerit homo carnem sanctificatam in ora vestimenti sui, et tetigerit de summitate ejus panem, aut pulmentum, aut vinum, aut oleum, aut omnem cibum, numquid sanctificabitur ? Respondentes autem sacerdotes, dixerunt : Non. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃2 הן ישא איש בשר קדש בכנף בגדו ונגע בכנפו אל הלחם ואל הנזיד ואל היין ואל שמן ואל כל מאכל היקדש ויענו הכהנים ויאמרו לא ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 13

Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

- Et Aggée dit: Si quelqu'un souillé par le contact d'un cadavre touche toutes ces choses, seront-elles souillées? Les sacrificateurs répondirent: Elles seront souillées. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αγγαιος ἐὰν ἅψηται μεμιαμμένος ἐπὶ ψυχη̨̃ ἀπὸ παντὸς τούτων εἰ μιανθήσεται καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ ἱερει̃ς καὶ εἰ̃παν μιανθήσεται (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Aggæus : Si tetigerit pollutus in anima ex omnibus his, numquid contaminabitur ? Et responderunt sacerdotes, et dixerunt : Contaminabitur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃2 ויאמר חגי אם יגע טמא נפש בכל אלה היטמא ויענו הכהנים ויאמרו יטמא ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 14

Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

- Alors Aggée, reprenant la parole, dit: Tel est ce peuple, telle est cette nation devant moi, dit l'Éternel, Telles sont toutes les oeuvres de leurs mains; Ce qu'ils m'offrent là est souillé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Αγγαιος καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὕτως ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος καὶ οὕτως τὸ ἔθνος του̃το ἐνώπιον ἐμου̃ λέγει κύριος καὶ οὕτως πάντα τὰ ἔργα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ὃς ἐὰν ἐγγίση̨ ἐκει̃ μιανθήσεται ἕνεκεν τω̃ν λημμάτων αὐτω̃ν τω̃ν ὀρθρινω̃ν ὀδυνηθήσονται ἀπὸ προσώπου πόνων αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐμισει̃τε ἐν πύλαις ἐλέγχοντας (Ⅲ)

- Et respondit Aggæus, et dixit : [Sic populus iste,/ et sic gens ista ante faciem meam, dicit Dominus,/ et sic omne opus manuum eorum :/ et omnia quæ obtulerunt ibi, contaminata erunt./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃2 ויען חגי ויאמר כן העם הזה וכן הגוי הזה לפני נאם יהוה וכן כל מעשה ידיהם ואשר יקריבו שם טמא הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 15

And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

- Considérez donc attentivement Ce qui s'est passé jusqu'à ce jour, Avant qu'on eût mis pierre sur pierre au temple de l'Éternel! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν θέσθε δὴ εἰς τὰς καρδίας ὑμω̃ν ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης καὶ ὑπεράνω πρὸ του̃ θει̃ναι λίθον ἐπὶ λίθον ἐν τω̨̃ ναω̨̃ κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Et nunc ponite corda vestra a die hac et supra,/ antequam poneretur lapis super lapidem in templo Domini./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃2 ועתה שימו נא לבבכם מן היום הזה ומעלה מטרם שום אבן אל אבן בהיכל יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 16

Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

- Alors, quand on venait à un tas de vingt mesures, Il n'y en avait que dix; Quand on venait à la cuve pour puiser cinquante mesures, Il n'y en avait que vingt. (Ⅱ)

- τίνες ἠ̃τε ὅτε ἐνεβάλλετε εἰς κυψέλην κριθη̃ς εἴκοσι σάτα καὶ ἐγένετο κριθη̃ς δέκα σάτα καὶ εἰσεπορεύεσθε εἰς τὸ ὑπολήνιον ἐξαντλη̃σαι πεντήκοντα μετρητάς καὶ ἐγένοντο εἴκοσι (Ⅲ)

- Cum accederetis ad acervum viginti modiorum,/ et fierent decem ;/ et intraretis ad torcular, ut exprimeretis quinquaginta lagenas,/ et fiebant viginti./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃2 מהיותם בא אל ערמת עשרים והיתה עשרה בא אל היקב לחשף חמשים פורה והיתה עשרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 17

I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

- Je vous ai frappés par la rouille et par la nielle, et par la grêle; J'ai frappé tout le travail de vos mains. Malgré cela, vous n'êtes pas revenus à moi, dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- ἐπάταξα ὑμα̃ς ἐν ἀφορία̨ καὶ ἐν ἀνεμοφθορία̨ καὶ ἐν χαλάζη̨ πάντα τὰ ἔργα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν ὑμω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἐπεστρέψατε πρός με λέγει κύριος (Ⅲ)

- Percussi vos vento urente, et aurugine,/ et grandine omnia opera manuum vestrarum :/ et non fuit in vobis qui reverteretur ad me, dicit Dominus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃2 הכיתי אתכם בשדפון ובירקון ובברד את כל מעשה ידיכם ואין אתכם אלי נאם יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 18

Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid, consider it.

- Considérez attentivement Ce qui s'est passé jusqu'à ce jour, Jusqu'au vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, Depuis le jour où le temple de l'Éternel a été fondé, Considérez-le attentivement! (Ⅱ)

- ὑποτάξατε δὴ τὰς καρδίας ὑμω̃ν ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης καὶ ἐπέκεινα ἀπὸ τη̃ς τετράδος καὶ εἰκάδος του̃ ἐνάτου μηνὸς καὶ ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἡμέρας ἡ̃ς ἐθεμελιώθη ὁ ναὸς κυρίου θέσθε ἐν ται̃ς καρδίαις ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Ponite corda vestra ex die ista, et in futurum,/ a die vigesima et quarta noni mensis :/ a die qua fundamenta jacta sunt templi Domini,/ ponite super cor vestrum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃2 שימו נא לבבכם מן היום הזה ומעלה מיום עשרים וארבעה לתשיעי למן היום אשר יסד היכל יהוה שימו לבבכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 19

Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

- Y avait-il encore de la semence dans les greniers? Même la vigne, le figuier, le grenadier et l'olivier, N'ont rien rapporté. Mais dès ce jour je répandrai ma bénédiction. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ ἔτι ἐπιγνωσθήσεται ἐπὶ τη̃ς ἅλω καὶ εἰ ἔτι ἡ ἄμπελος καὶ ἡ συκη̃ καὶ ἡ ῥόα καὶ τὰ ξύλα τη̃ς ἐλαίας τὰ οὐ φέροντα καρπόν ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης εὐλογήσω (Ⅲ)

- Numquid jam semen in germine est,/ et adhuc vinea, et ficus,/ et malogranatum, et lignum olivæ non floruit ? ex die ista benedicam.]\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃2 העוד הזרע במגורה ועד הגפן והתאנה והרמון ועץ הזית לא נשא מן היום הזה אברך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 20

And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

- La parole de l'Éternel fut adressée pour la seconde fois à Aggée, le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en ces mots: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου ἐκ δευτέρου πρὸς Αγγαιον τὸν προφήτην τετράδι καὶ εἰκάδι του̃ μηνὸς λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Et factum est verbum Domini secundo ad Aggæum in vigesima et quarta mensis, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃2 ויהי דבר יהוה שנית אל חגי בעשרים וארבעה לחדש לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 21

Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

- Parle à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Juda, et dis: J'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre; (Ⅱ)

- εἰπὸν πρὸς Ζοροβαβελ τὸν του̃ Σαλαθιηλ ἐκ φυλη̃ς Ιουδα λέγων ἐγὼ σείω τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ τὴν ξηρὰν (Ⅲ)

- Loquere ad Zorobabel ducem Juda, dicens : [Ego movebo cælum pariter et terram,/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃2 אמר אל זרבבל פחת יהודה לאמר אני מרעיש את השמים ואת הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 22

And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

- Je renverserai le trône des royaumes, Je détruirai la force des royaumes des nations, Je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent; Les chevaux et leurs cavaliers seront abattus, L'un par l'épée de l'autre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ καταστρέψω θρόνους βασιλέων καὶ ὀλεθρεύσω δύναμιν βασιλέων τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν καὶ καταστρέψω ἅρματα καὶ ἀναβάτας καὶ καταβήσονται ἵπποι καὶ ἀναβάται αὐτω̃ν ἕκαστος ἐν ῥομφαία̨ πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- et subvertam solium regnorum,/ et conteram fortitudinem regni gentium :/ et subvertam quadrigam et ascensorem ejus,/ et descendent equi, et ascensores eorum,/ vir in gladio fratris sui./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃2 והפכתי כסא ממלכות והשמדתי חזק ממלכות הגוים והפכתי מרכבה ורכביה וירדו סוסים ורכביהם איש בחרב אחיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 23

In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.

- En ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel des armées, Je te prendrai, Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, Mon serviteur, dit l'Éternel, Et je te garderai comme un sceau; Car je t'ai choisi, dit l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ)
