14. 1

‫ 1 ׃14 וירד שמשון תמנתה וירא אשה בתמנתה מבנות פלשתים ‬

- Samson descendit à Thimna, et il y vit une femme parmi les filles des Philistins. (Ⅱ)

- And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ κατέβη Σαμψων εἰς Θαμναθα καὶ εἰ̃δεν γυναι̃κα εἰς Θαμναθα ἀπὸ τω̃ν θυγατέρων τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων (Ⅳ)

- Descendit ergo Samson in Thamnatha : vidensque ibi mulierem de filiabus Philisthiim, (Ⅴ)

14. 2

‫ 2 ׃14 ויעל ויגד לאביו ולאמו ויאמר אשה ראיתי בתמנתה מבנות פלשתים ועתה קחו אותה לי לאשה ‬

- Lorsqu'il fut remonté, il le déclara à son père et à sa mère, et dit: J'ai vu à Thimna une femme parmi les filles des Philistins; prenez-la maintenant pour ma femme. (Ⅱ)

- And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν γυναι̃κα ἑόρακα ἐν Θαμναθα ἀπὸ τω̃ν θυγατέρων Φυλιστιιμ καὶ νυ̃ν λάβετε αὐτὴν ἐμοὶ εἰς γυναι̃κα (Ⅳ)

- ascendit, et nuntiavit patri suo et matri suæ, dicens : Vidi mulierem in Thamnatha de filiabus Philisthinorum : quam quæso ut mihi accipiatis uxorem. (Ⅴ)

14. 3

‫ 3 ׃14 ויאמר לו אביו ואמו האין בבנות אחיך ובכל עמי אשה כי אתה הולך לקחת אשה מפלשתים הערלים ויאמר שמשון אל אביו אותה קח לי כי היא ישרה בעיני ‬

- Son père et sa mère lui dirent: N'y a-t-il point de femme parmi les filles de tes frères et dans tout notre peuple, que tu ailles prendre une femme chez les Philistins, qui sont incirconcis? Et Samson dit à son père: Prends-la pour moi, car elle me plaît. (Ⅱ)

- Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτου̃ μὴ οὔκ εἰσιν θυγατέρες τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν σου καὶ ἐκ παντὸς του̃ λαου̃ μου γυνή ὅτι σὺ πορεύη̨ λαβει̃ν γυναι̃κα ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων τω̃ν ἀπεριτμήτων καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμψων πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτου̃ ταύτην λαβέ μοι ὅτι αὕτη εὐθει̃α ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς μου (Ⅳ)

- Cui dixerunt pater et mater sua : Numquid non est mulier in filiabus fratrum tuorum, et in omni populo meo, quia vis accipere uxorem de Philisthiim, qui incircumcisi sunt ? Dixitque Samson ad patrem suum : Hanc mihi accipe : quia placuit oculis meis. (Ⅴ)

14. 4

‫ 4 ׃14 ואביו ואמו לא ידעו כי מיהוה היא כי תאנה הוא מבקש מפלשתים ובעת ההיא פלשתים משלים בישראל פ‬

- Son père et sa mère ne savaient pas que cela venait de l'Éternel: car Samson cherchait une occasion de dispute de la part des Philistins. En ce temps là, les Philistins dominaient sur Israël. (Ⅱ)

- But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι παρὰ κυρίου ἐστίν ὅτι ἐκδίκησιν αὐτὸς ζητει̃ ἐκ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι κυριεύοντες ἐν Ισραηλ (Ⅳ)

- Parentes autem ejus nesciebant quod res a Domino fieret, et quæreret occasionem contra Philisthiim : eo enim tempore Philisthiim dominabantur Israëli. (Ⅴ)

14. 5

‫ 5 ׃14 וירד שמשון ואביו ואמו תמנתה ויבאו עד כרמי תמנתה והנה כפיר אריות שאג לקראתו ‬

- Samson descendit avec son père et sa mère à Thimna. Lorsqu'ils arrivèrent aux vignes de Thimna, voici, un jeune lion rugissant vint à sa rencontre. (Ⅱ)

- Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ κατέβη Σαμψων καὶ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτου̃ εἰς Θαμναθα καὶ ἠ̃λθεν ἕως του̃ ἀμπελω̃νος Θαμναθα καὶ ἰδοὺ σκύμνος λέοντος ὠρυόμενος εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ)

- Descendit itaque Samson cum patre suo et matre in Thamnatha. Cumque venissent ad vineas oppidi, apparuit catulus leonis sævus, et rugiens, et occurrit ei. (Ⅴ)

14. 6

‫ 6 ׃14 ותצלח עליו רוח יהוה וישסעהו כשסע הגדי ומאומה אין בידו ולא הגיד לאביו ולאמו את אשר עשה ‬

- L'esprit de l'Éternel saisit Samson; et, sans avoir rien à la main, Samson déchira le lion comme on déchire un chevreau. Il ne dit point à son père et à sa mère ce qu'il avait fait. (Ⅱ)

- And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἥλατο ἐπ' αὐτὸν πνευ̃μα κυρίου καὶ συνέτριψεν αὐτόν ὡσεὶ συντρίψει ἔριφον καὶ οὐδὲν ἠ̃ν ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ ὃ ἐποίησεν (Ⅳ)

- Irruit autem spiritus Domini in Samson, et dilaceravit leonem, quasi hædum in frustra discerpens, nihil omnino habens in manu : et hoc patri et matri noluit indicare. (Ⅴ)

14. 7

‫ 7 ׃14 וירד וידבר לאשה ותישר בעיני שמשון ‬

- Il descendit et parla à la femme, et elle lui plut. (Ⅱ)

- And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ κατέβησαν καὶ ἐλάλησαν τη̨̃ γυναικί καὶ ηὐθύνθη ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς Σαμψων (Ⅳ)

- Descenditque, et locutus est mulieri quæ placuerat oculis ejus. (Ⅴ)

14. 8

‫ 8 ׃14 וישב מימים לקחתה ויסר לראות את מפלת האריה והנה עדת דבורים בגוית האריה ודבש ‬

- Quelque temps après, il se rendit de nouveau à Thimna pour la prendre, et se détourna pour voir le cadavre du lion. Et voici, il y avait un essaim d'abeilles et du miel dans le corps du lion. (Ⅱ)

- And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ὑπέστρεψεν μεθ' ἡμέρας λαβει̃ν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐξέκλινεν ἰδει̃ν τὸ πτω̃μα του̃ λέοντος καὶ ἰδοὺ συναγωγὴ μελισσω̃ν ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι του̃ λέοντος καὶ μέλι (Ⅳ)

- Et post aliquot dies revertens ut acciperet eam, declinavit ut videret cadaver leonis, et ecce examen apum in ore leonis erat ac favus mellis. (Ⅴ)

14. 9

‫ 9 ׃14 וירדהו אל כפיו וילך הלוך ואכל וילך אל אביו ואל אמו ויתן להם ויאכלו ולא הגיד להם כי מגוית האריה רדה הדבש ‬

- Il prit entre ses mains le miel, dont il mangea pendant la route; et lorsqu'il fut arrivé près de son père et de sa mère, il leur en donna, et ils en mangèrent. Mais il ne leur dit pas qu'il avait pris ce miel dans le corps du lion. (Ⅱ)

- And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐξει̃λεν αὐτὸ εἰς χει̃ρας αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπορεύετο πορευόμενος καὶ ἐσθίων καὶ ἐπορεύθη πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτου̃ καὶ τὴν μητέρα αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοι̃ς καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτοι̃ς ὅτι ἀπὸ του̃ στόματος του̃ λέοντος ἐξει̃λεν τὸ μέλι (Ⅳ)

- Quem cum sumpsisset in manibus comedebat in via : veniensque ad patrem suum et matrem, dedit eis partem, qui et ipsi comederunt : nec tamen eis voluit indicare quod mel de corpore leonis assumpserat.\ (Ⅴ)

14. 10

‫ 10 ׃14 וירד אביהו אל האשה ויעש שם שמשון משתה כי כן יעשו הבחורים ‬

- Le père de Samson descendit chez la femme. Et là, Samson fit un festin, car c'était la coutume des jeunes gens. (Ⅱ)

- So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ κατέβη ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ πρὸς τὴν γυναι̃κα καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐκει̃ Σαμψων πότον ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ὅτι οὕτως ποιου̃σιν οἱ νεανίσκοι (Ⅳ)

- Descendit itaque pater ejus ad mulierem, et fecit filio suo Samson convivium : sic enim juvenes facere consueverant. (Ⅴ)

14. 11

‫ 11 ׃14 ויהי כראותם אותו ויקחו שלשים מרעים ויהיו אתו ‬

- Dès qu'on le vit, on invita trente compagnons qui se tinrent avec lui. (Ⅱ)

- And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε εἰ̃δον αὐτόν καὶ ἔλαβον τριάκοντα κλητούς καὶ ἠ̃σαν μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ)

- Cum ergo cives loci illius vidissent eum, dederunt ei sodales triginta ut essent cum eo. (Ⅴ)

14. 12

‫ 12 ׃14 ויאמר להם שמשון אחודה נא לכם חידה אם הגד תגידו אותה לי שבעת ימי המשתה ומצאתם ונתתי לכם שלשים סדינים ושלשים חלפת בגדים ‬

- Samson leur dit: Je vais vous proposer une énigme. Si vous me l'expliquez pendant les sept jours du festin, et si vous la découvrez, je vous donnerai trente chemises et trente vêtements de rechange. (Ⅱ)

- And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments: (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς Σαμψων πρόβλημα ὑμι̃ν προβάλλομαι ἐὰν ἀπαγγέλλοντες ἀπαγγείλητε αὐτὸ ἐν ται̃ς ἑπτὰ ἡμέραις του̃ πότου καὶ εὕρητε δώσω ὑμι̃ν τριάκοντα σινδόνας καὶ τριάκοντα στολὰς ἱματίων (Ⅳ)

- Quibus locutus est Samson : Proponam vobis problema : quod si solveritis mihi intra septem dies convivii, dabo vobis triginta sindones, et totidem tunicas : (Ⅴ)

14. 13

‫ 13 ׃14 ואם לא תוכלו להגיד לי ונתתם אתם לי שלשים סדינים ושלשים חליפות בגדים ויאמרו לו חודה חידתך ונשמענה ‬

- Mais si vous ne pouvez pas me l'expliquer, ce sera vous qui me donnerez trente chemises et trente vêtements de rechange. Ils lui dirent: Propose ton énigme, et nous l'écouterons. (Ⅱ)

- But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐὰν μὴ δύνησθε ἀπαγγει̃λαί μοι δώσετε ὑμει̃ς ἐμοὶ τριάκοντα ὀθόνια καὶ τριάκοντα ἀλλασσομένας στολὰς ἱματίων καὶ εἰ̃παν αὐτω̨̃ προβαλου̃ τὸ πρόβλημα καὶ ἀκουσόμεθα αὐτό (Ⅳ)

- sin autem non potueritis solvere, vos dabitis mihi triginta sindones, et ejusdem numeri tunicas. Qui responderunt ei : Propone problema, ut audiamus. (Ⅴ)

14. 14

‫ 14 ׃14 ויאמר להם מהאכל יצא מאכל ומעז יצא מתוק ולא יכלו להגיד החידה שלשת ימים ‬

- Et il leur dit: De celui qui mange est sorti ce qui se mange, et du fort est sorti le doux. Pendant trois jours, ils ne purent expliquer l'énigme. (Ⅱ)

- And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς τί βρωτὸν ἐξη̃λθεν ἐκ βιβρώσκοντος καὶ ἀπὸ ἰσχυρου̃ γλυκύ καὶ οὐκ ἠδύναντο ἀπαγγει̃λαι τὸ πρόβλημα ἐπὶ τρει̃ς ἡμέρας (Ⅳ)

- Dixitque eis : [De comedente exivit cibus,/ et de forti egressa est dulcedo.] Nec potuerunt per tres dies propositionem solvere. (Ⅴ)

14. 15

‫ 15 ׃14 ויהי ביום השביעי ויאמרו לאשת שמשון פתי את אישך ויגד לנו את החידה פן נשרף אותך ואת בית אביך באש הלירשנו קראתם לנו הלא ‬

- Le septième jour, ils dirent à la femme de Samson: Persuade à ton mari de nous expliquer l'énigme; sinon, nous te brûlerons, toi et la maison de ton père. C'est pour nous dépouiller que vous nous avez invités, n'est-ce pas? (Ⅱ)

- And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so? (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ τετάρτη̨ καὶ εἰ̃παν τη̨̃ γυναικὶ Σαμψων ἀπάτησον δὴ τὸν ἄνδρα σου καὶ ἀπαγγειλάτω σοι τὸ πρόβλημα μήποτε κατακαύσωμέν σε καὶ τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ πατρός σου ἐν πυρί ἠ̃ ἐκβιάσαι ἡμα̃ς κεκλήκατε (Ⅳ)

- Cumque adesset dies septimus, dixerunt ad uxorem Samson : Blandire viro tuo et suade ei ut indicet tibi quid significet problema : quod si facere nolueris, incendemus te, et domum patris tui : an idcirco vocastis nos ad nuptias ut spoliaretis ? (Ⅴ)

14. 16

‫ 16 ׃14 ותבך אשת שמשון עליו ותאמר רק שנאתני ולא אהבתני החידה חדת לבני עמי ולי לא הגדתה ויאמר לה הנה לאבי ולאמי לא הגדתי ולך אגיד ‬

- La femme de Samson pleurait auprès de lui, et disait: Tu n'as pour moi que de la haine, et tu ne m'aimes pas; tu as proposé une énigme aux enfants de mon peuple, et tu ne me l'as point expliquée! Et il lui répondait: Je ne l'ai expliquée ni à mon père ni à ma mère; est-ce à toi que je l'expliquerais? (Ⅱ)

- And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee? (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἔκλαυσεν ἡ γυνὴ Σαμψων πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ εἰ̃πεν πλὴν μεμίσηκάς με καὶ οὐκ ἠγάπησάς με ὅτι τὸ πρόβλημα ὃ προεβάλου τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς του̃ λαου̃ μου οὐκ ἀπήγγειλάς μοι καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτη̨̃ Σαμψων εἰ τω̨̃ πατρί μου καὶ τη̨̃ μητρί μου οὐκ ἀπήγγελκα σοὶ ἀπαγγείλω (Ⅳ)

- Quæ fundebat apud Samson lacrimas, et quærebatur, dicens : Odisti me, et non diligis : idcirco problema, quod proposuisti filiis populi mei, non vis mihi exponere. At ille respondit : Patri meo et matri nolui dicere : et tibi indicare potero ? (Ⅴ)

14. 17

‫ 17 ׃14 ותבך עליו שבעת הימים אשר היה להם המשתה ויהי ביום השביעי ויגד לה כי הציקתהו ותגד החידה לבני עמה ‬

- Elle pleura auprès de lui pendant les sept jours que dura leur festin; et le septième jour, il la lui expliqua, car elle le tourmentait. Et elle donna l'explication de l'énigme aux enfants de son peuple. (Ⅱ)

- And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἔκλαυσεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὰς ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἃς ἠ̃ν αὐτοι̃ς ὁ πότος καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ ἑβδόμη̨ καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτη̨̃ ὅτι παρενώχλησεν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπήγγειλεν τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς του̃ λαου̃ αὐτη̃ς (Ⅳ)

- Septem igitur diebus convivii flebat ante eum : tandemque die septimo cum ei esset molesta, exposuit. Quæ statim indicavit civibus suis. (Ⅴ)

14. 18

‫ 18 ׃14 ויאמרו לו אנשי העיר ביום השביעי בטרם יבא החרסה מה מתוק מדבש ומה עז מארי ויאמר להם לולא חרשתם בעגלתי לא מצאתם חידתי ‬

- Les gens de la ville dirent à Samson le septième jour, avant le coucher du soleil: Quoi de plus doux que le miel, et quoi de plus fort que le lion? Et il leur dit: Si vous n'aviez pas labouré avec ma génisse, vous n'auriez pas découvert mon énigme. (Ⅱ)

- And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰ̃παν αὐτω̨̃ οἱ ἄνδρες τη̃ς πόλεως ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ ἑβδόμη̨ πρὸ του̃ ἀνατει̃λαι τὸν ἥλιον τί γλυκύτερον μέλιτος καὶ τί ἰσχυρότερον λέοντος καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς Σαμψων εἰ μὴ ἠροτριάσατε ἐν τη̨̃ δαμάλει μου οὐκ ἂν ἔγνωτε τὸ πρόβλημά μου (Ⅳ)

- Et illi dixerunt ei die septimo ante solis occubitum : [Quid dulcius melle,/ et quid fortius leone ?] Qui ait ad eos : [Si non arassetis in vitula mea,/ non invenissetis propositionem meam.]\ (Ⅴ)

14. 19

‫ 19 ׃14 ותצלח עליו רוח יהוה וירד אשקלון ויך מהם שלשים איש ויקח את חליצותם ויתן החליפות למגידי החידה ויחר אפו ויעל בית אביהו פ‬

- L'esprit de l'Éternel le saisit, et il descendit à Askalon. Il y tua trente hommes, prit leurs dépouilles, et donna les vêtements de rechange à ceux qui avaient expliqué l'énigme. Il était enflammé de colère, et il monta à la maison de son père. (Ⅱ)

- And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἥλατο ἐπ' αὐτὸν πνευ̃μα κυρίου καὶ κατέβη εἰς 'Ασκαλω̃να καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐξ αὐτω̃ν τριάκοντα ἄνδρας καὶ ἔλαβεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἔδωκεν τὰς στολὰς τοι̃ς ἀπαγγείλασιν τὸ πρόβλημα καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμω̨̃ Σαμψων καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ)

- Irruit itaque in eum spiritus Domini, descenditque Ascalonem, et percussit ibi triginta viros : quorum ablatas vestes dedit iis qui problema solverant. Iratusque nimis ascendit in domum patris sui : (Ⅴ)

14. 20

‫ 20 ׃14 ותהי אשת שמשון למרעהו אשר רעה לו ‬

- Sa femme fut donnée à l'un de ses compagnons, avec lequel il était lié. (Ⅱ)

- But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ γυνὴ Σαμψων ἑνὶ τω̃ν φίλων αὐτου̃ ὡ̃ν ἐφιλίασεν (Ⅳ)

- uxor autem ejus accepit maritum unum de amicis ejus et pronubis. (Ⅴ)
