71. 0  
Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
71. 1  
We sent Noah to his people, saying, ´Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.´
- Inna arsalna noohan ila qawmihi an anthir qawmaka min qabli an yatiyahum AAathabun aleemun (Ⅰ)
- Lo! We sent Noah to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there come upon them a painful doom." (Ⅱ)
- Lo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them. (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (Ⅳ)
- We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." (Ⅵ)
71. 2  
He said, ´O my people, I am unto you a clear warner,
- Qala ya qawmi innee lakum natheerun mubeenun (Ⅰ)
- He said, "O my people! Surely I am a plain Warner to you: (Ⅱ)
- He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you (Ⅲ)
- قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ (Ⅳ)
- He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: (Ⅵ)
71. 3  
saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me,
- Ani oAAbudoo Allaha waittaqoohu waateeAAooni (Ⅰ)
- "That you should serve Allah and be careful of your duty to Him and obey me: (Ⅱ)
- (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, (Ⅲ)
- أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ (Ⅳ)
- "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: (Ⅵ)
71. 4  
and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God´s term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."´
- Yaghfir lakum min thunoobikum wayuakhkhirkum ila ajalin musamman inna ajala Allahi itha jaa la yuakhkharu law kuntum taAAlamoona (Ⅰ)
- "He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay for an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know? (Ⅱ)
- That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. (Ⅲ)
- يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ (Ⅳ)
- "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." (Ⅵ)
71. 5  
He said; ´My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day,
- Qala rabbi innee daAAawtu qawmee laylan wanaharan (Ⅰ)
- He said, "O my Lord! Surely I have called my people by night and by day! (Ⅱ)
- He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day (Ⅲ)
- قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا (Ⅳ)
- He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: (Ⅵ)
71. 6  
but my calling has only increased them in flight.
- Falam yazidhum duAAaee illa firaran (Ⅰ)
- "But my call has only increased their flight (from truth): (Ⅱ)
- But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; (Ⅲ)
- فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right). (Ⅵ)
71. 7  
And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud.
- Wainnee kullama daAAawtuhum litaghfira lahum jaAAaloo asabiAAahum fee athanihim waistaghshaw thiyabahum waasarroo waistakbaroo istikbaran (Ⅰ)
- "And whenever I have called them that you may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, grow obstinate and puffed up with pride: (Ⅱ)
- And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. (Ⅲ)
- وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. (Ⅵ)
71. 8  
Then indeed I called them openly;
- Thumma innee daAAawtuhum jiharan (Ⅰ)
- "So I called to them aloud: (Ⅱ)
- And lo! I have called unto them aloud, (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "So I have called to them aloud; (Ⅵ)
71. 9  
then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly,
- Thumma innee aAAlantu lahum waasrartu lahum israran (Ⅰ)
- "And lo! I have made public proclamations unto them, and I have appealed to them in private: (Ⅱ)
- And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, (Ⅵ)
71. 10  
and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving,
- Faqultu istaghfiroo rabbakum innahu kana ghaffaran (Ⅰ)
- "And I have said, ´Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: (Ⅱ)
- And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. (Ⅲ)
- فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا (Ⅳ)
- "Saying, ´Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; (Ⅵ)
71. 11  
and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents
- Yursili alssamaa AAalaykum midraran (Ⅰ)
- "´He will send down upon you an abundance of rain: (Ⅱ)
- He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, (Ⅲ)
- يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "´He will send rain to you in abundance; (Ⅵ)
71. 12  
and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers.
- Wayumdidkum biamwalin wabaneena wayajAAal lakum jannatin wayajAAal lakum anharan (Ⅰ)
- "´And help you with wealth and sons, and bestow on you gardens, and bestow on you rivers. (Ⅱ)
- And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. (Ⅲ)
- وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "´Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). (Ⅵ)
71. 13  
What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God,
- Ma lakum la tarjoona lillahi waqaran (Ⅰ)
- "´What ails you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? (Ⅱ)
- What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity (Ⅲ)
- مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "´What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- (Ⅵ)
71. 14  
seeing He created you by stages?
- Waqad khalaqakum atwaran (Ⅰ)
- "´Seeing that He has created you through various stages. (Ⅱ)
- When He created you by (divers) stages ? (Ⅲ)
- وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "´Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? (Ⅵ)
71. 15  
Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another,
- Alam taraw kayfa khalaqa Allahu sabAAa samawatin tibaqan (Ⅰ)
- "´Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another (or in harmony), (Ⅱ)
- See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, (Ⅲ)
- أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا (Ⅳ)
- "´See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, (Ⅵ)
71. 16  
and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp?
- WajaAAala alqamara feehinna nooran wajaAAala alshshamsa sirajan (Ⅰ)
- "´And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? (Ⅱ)
- And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp ? (Ⅲ)
- وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا (Ⅳ)
- "´And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? (Ⅵ)
71. 17  
And God caused you to grow out of the earth,
- WaAllahu anbatakum mina alardi nabatan (Ⅰ)
- "´And Allah has made you out of the earth as a gradual growth: (Ⅱ)
- And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, (Ⅲ)
- وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا (Ⅳ)
- "´And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), (Ⅵ)
71. 18  
then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth.
- Thumma yuAAeedukum feeha wayukhrijukum ikhrajan (Ⅰ)
- "´Then He returns you to it, and then will He bring you forth a new bringing forth: (Ⅱ)
- And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا (Ⅳ)
- "´And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? (Ⅵ)
71. 19  
And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet,
- WaAllahu jaAAala lakumu alarda bisatan (Ⅰ)
- "´And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, (Ⅱ)
- And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you (Ⅲ)
- وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا (Ⅳ)
- "´And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), (Ⅵ)
71. 20  
that thereof you may thread ways, ravines."
- Litaslukoo minha subulan fijajan (Ⅰ)
- "´ That you may go about in it in spacious paths (or valleys).´" (Ⅱ)
- That ye may thread the valley-ways thereof. (Ⅲ)
- لِّتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا (Ⅳ)
- "´That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.´" (Ⅵ)
71. 21  
Noah said, ´My Lord, they have rebelled against me, and followed him whose wealth and children increase him only in loss,
- Qala noohun rabbi innahum AAasawnee waittabaAAoo man lam yazidhu maluhu wawaladuhu illa khasaran (Ⅰ)
- Noah said, "My Lord! Surely they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children have added to him nothing but loss. (Ⅱ)
- Noah said: My Lord! Lo! they have disobeyed me and followed one whose wealth and children increase him in naught save ruin; (Ⅲ)
- قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا (Ⅳ)
- Noah said: "O my Lord! They have disobeyed me, but they follow (men) whose wealth and children give them no increase but only Loss. (Ⅵ)
71. 22  
and have devised a mighty device
- Wamakaroo makran kubbaran (Ⅰ)
- "And they devised a mighty plot. (Ⅱ)
- And they have plotted a mighty plot, (Ⅲ)
- وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا (Ⅳ)
- "And they have devised a tremendous Plot. (Ⅵ)
71. 23  
and have said, "Do not leave your gods, and do not leave Wadd, nor Suwa´, Yaghuth, Ya´uq, neither Nasr."
- Waqaloo la tatharunna alihatakum wala tatharunna waddan wala suwaAAan wala yaghootha wayaAAooqa wanasran (Ⅰ)
- "And they say (to each other), ´By no means leave your gods, abandon neither Wadd, nor Suwa, nor Yaghut, and Yauq and Nasr (their gods).´ (Ⅱ)
- And they have said: Forsake not your gods. Forsake not Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr. (Ⅲ)
- وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا (Ⅳ)
- "And they have said (to each other), ´Abandon not your gods: Abandon neither Wadd nor Suwa´, neither Yaguth nor Ya´uq, nor Nasr´;- (Ⅵ)
71. 24  
And they have led many astray. Increase Thou not the evildoers save in error!´
- Waqad adalloo katheeran wala tazidi alththalimeena illa dalalan (Ⅰ)
- "And indeed they have led astray many, and do not increase the unjust in aught but error. (Ⅱ)
- And they have led many astray, and Thou increasest the wrong-doers in naught save error. (Ⅲ)
- وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا (Ⅳ)
- "They have already misled many; and grant Thou no increase to the wrong-doers but in straying (from their mark)." (Ⅵ)
71. 25  
And because of their transgressions they were drowned, and admitted into a Fire, for they found not, apart from God, any to help them.
- Mimma khateeatihim oghriqoo faodkhiloo naran falam yajidoo lahum min dooni Allahi ansaran (Ⅰ)
- Because of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter Fire, so they did not find any helpers besides Allah. (Ⅱ)
- Because of their sins they were drowned, then made to enter a Fire. And they found they had no helpers in place of Allah. (Ⅲ)
- مِّمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا (Ⅳ)
- Because of their sins they were drowned (in the flood), and were made to enter the Fire (of Punishment): and they found- in lieu of Allah- none to help them. (Ⅵ)
71. 26  
And Noah said, ´My Lord, leave not upon the earth of the unbelievers even one.
- Waqala noohun rabbi la tathar AAala alardi mina alkafireena dayyaran (Ⅰ)
- And Noah said, "My Lord! Leave not upon the land any dweller from among the unbelievers: (Ⅱ)
- And Noah said: My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers in the land. (Ⅲ)
- وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا (Ⅳ)
- And Noah, said: "O my Lord! Leave not of the Unbelievers, a single one on earth! (Ⅵ)
71. 27  
Surely, if Thou leavest them, they will lead Thy servants astray, and will beget none but unbelieving libertines.
- Innaka in tatharhum yudilloo AAibadaka wala yalidoo illa fajiran kaffaran (Ⅰ)
- "For surely if you leave them they will lead astray Thy servants, and will not beget any but immoral, ungrateful ones." (Ⅱ)
- If Thou shouldst leave them, they will mislead Thy slaves and will beget none save lewd ingrates. (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا (Ⅳ)
- "For, if Thou dost leave (any of) them, they will but mislead Thy devotees, and they will breed none but wicked ungrateful ones. (Ⅵ)
71. 28  
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whosoever enters my house as a believer, and the believers, men and women alike; and do Thou not increase the evildoers save in ruin!´
- Rabbi ighfir lee waliwalidayya waliman dakhala baytiya muminan walilmumineena waalmuminati wala tazidi alththalimeena illa tabaran (Ⅰ)
- "My Lord! Forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house believing, and the believing men and the believing women; and do not increase the unjust in aught but perdition! (Ⅱ)
- My Lord! Forgive me and my parents and him who entereth my house believing, and believing men and believing women, and increase not the wrong-doers in aught save ruin. (Ⅲ)
- رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا (Ⅳ)
- "O my Lord! Forgive me, my parents, all who enter my house in Faith, and (all) believing men and believing women: and to the wrong-doers grant Thou no increase but in perdition!" (Ⅵ)
