David adressa à l'Éternel les paroles de ce cantique, lorsque l'Éternel l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül.
- And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐλάλησεν Δαυιδ τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ τοὺς λόγους τη̃ς ὠ̨δη̃ς ταύτης ἐν ἡ̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐξείλατο αὐτὸν κύριος ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς Σαουλ (Ⅲ) - Locutus est autem David Domino verba carminis hujus in die qua liberavit eum Dominus de manu omnium inimicorum suorum, et de manu Saul. Il dit: L'Éternel est mon rocher, ma forteresse, mon libérateur.
- And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριε πέτρα μου καὶ ὀχύρωμά μου καὶ ἐξαιρούμενός με ἐμοί (Ⅲ) - Et ait : [Dominus petra mea, et robur meum, et salvator meus./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃22 ויאמר יהוה סלעי ומצדתי ומפלטי לי (Ⅴ)

Dieu est mon rocher, où je trouve un abri, Mon bouclier et la force qui me sauve, Ma haute retraite et mon refuge. O mon Sauveur! tu me garantis de la violence.
- The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. (Ⅱ) - ὁ θεός μου φύλαξ ἔσται μου πεποιθὼς ἔσομαι ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ ὑπερασπιστής μου καὶ κέρας σωτηρίας μου ἀντιλήμπτωρ μου καὶ καταφυγή μου σωτηρίας μου ἐξ ἀδίκου σώσεις με (Ⅲ) - Deus fortis meus : sperabo in eum ;/ scutum meum, et cornu salutis meæ :/ elevator meus, et refugium meum ;/ salvator meus : de iniquitate liberabis me./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃22 אלהי צורי אחסה בו מגני וקרן ישעי משגבי ומנוסי משעי מחמס תשעני (Ⅴ)

Je m'écrie: Loué soit l'Éternel! Et je suis délivré de mes ennemis.

Les liens du sépulcre m'avaient entouré, Les filets de la mort m'avaient surpris.

Dans ma détresse, j'ai invoqué l'Éternel, J'ai invoqué mon Dieu; De son palais, il a entendu ma voix, Et mon cri est parvenu à ses oreilles.
- In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears. La terre fut ébranlée et trembla, Les fondements des cieux frémirent, Et ils furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était irrité.
- Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐταράχθη καὶ ἐσείσθη ἡ γη̃ καὶ τὰ θεμέλια του̃ οὐρανου̃ συνεταράχθησαν καὶ ἐσπαράχθησαν ὅτι ἐθυμώθη κύριος αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ) - Commota est et contremuit terra ;/ fundamenta montium concussa sunt, et conquassata :/ quoniam iratus est eis./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃22 *ותגעש **ויתגעש[a] ותרעש הארץ מוסדות השמים ירגזו ויתגעשו כי חרה לו (Ⅴ)

Il s'élevait de la fumée dans ses narines, Et un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche: Il en jaillissait des charbons embrasés.
- There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. (Ⅱ) - ἀνέβη καπνὸς ἐν τη̨̃ ὀργη̨̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ πυ̃ρ ἐκ στόματος αὐτου̃ κατέδεται ἄνθρακες ἐξεκαύθησαν ἀπ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Ascendit fumus de naribus ejus,/ et ignis de ore ejus vorabit :/ carbones succensi sunt ab eo./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃22 עלה עשן באפו ואש מפיו תאכל גחלים בערו ממנו (Ⅴ)

Il abaissa les cieux, et il descendit: Il y avait une épaisse nuée sous ses pieds.

Il était monté sur un chérubin, et il volait, Il paraissait sur les ailes du vent.

Il faisait des ténèbres une tente autour de lui, Il était enveloppé d'amas d'eaux et de sombres nuages.
- And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔθετο σκότος ἀποκρυφὴν αὐτου̃ κύκλω̨ αὐτου̃ ἡ σκηνὴ αὐτου̃ σκότος ὑδάτων ἐπάχυνεν ἐν νεφέλαις ἀέρος (Ⅲ) - Posuit tenebras in circuitu suo latibulum,/ cribrans aquas de nubibus cælorum./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃22 וישת חשך סביבתיו סכות חשרת מים עבי שחקים (Ⅴ)

De la splendeur qui le précédait S'élançaient des charbons de feu.
- Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled. (Ⅱ) - ἀπὸ του̃ φέγγους ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ ἐξεκαύθησαν ἄνθρακες πυρός (Ⅲ) - Præ fulgore in conspectu ejus,/ succensi sunt carbones ignis./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃22 מנגה נגדו בערו גחלי אש (Ⅴ)

L'Éternel tonna des cieux, Le Très Haut fit retentir sa voix;
- The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice. (Ⅱ) - ἐβρόντησεν ἐξ οὐρανου̃ κύριος καὶ ὁ ὕψιστος ἔδωκεν φωνὴν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Tonabit de cælo Dominus,/ et excelsus dabit vocem suam./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃22 ירעם מן שמים יהוה ועליון יתן קולו (Ⅴ)

Il lança des flèches et dispersa mes ennemis, La foudre, et les mit en déroute.
- And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπέστειλεν βέλη καὶ ἐσκόρπισεν αὐτούς ἀστραπὴν καὶ ἐξέστησεν αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Misit sagittas et dissipavit eos ;/ fulgur, et consumpsit eos./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃22 וישלח חצים ויפיצם ברק *ויהמם **ויהם (Ⅴ)

Le lit de la mer apparut, Les fondements du monde furent découverts, Par la menace de l'Éternel, Par le bruit du souffle de ses narines.
- And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὤφθησαν ἀφέσεις θαλάσσης καὶ ἀπεκαλύφθη θεμέλια τη̃ς οἰκουμένης ἐν τη̨̃ ἐπιτιμήσει κυρίου ἀπὸ πνοη̃ς πνεύματος θυμου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et apparuerunt effusiones maris,/ et revelata sunt fundamenta orbis/ ab increpatione Domini,/ ab inspiratione spiritus furoris ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃22 ויראו אפקי ים יגלו מסדות תבל בגערת יהוה מנשמת רוח אפו (Ⅴ)

Il étendit sa main d'en haut, il me saisit, Il me retira des grandes eaux;
- He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters; (Ⅱ) - ἀπέστειλεν ἐξ ὕψους καὶ ἔλαβέν με εἵλκυσέν με ἐξ ὑδάτων πολλω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Misit de excelso, et assumpsit me,/ et extraxit me de aquis multis./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃22 ישלח ממרום יקחני ימשני ממים רבים (Ⅴ)

Il me délivra de mon adversaire puissant, De mes ennemis qui étaient plus forts que moi.
- He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. (Ⅱ) - ἐρρύσατό με ἐξ ἐχθρω̃ν μου ἰσχύος ἐκ τω̃ν μισούντων με ὅτι ἐκραταιώθησαν ὑπὲρ ἐμέ (Ⅲ) - Liberavit me ab inimico meo potentissimo,/ et ab his qui oderant me :/ quoniam robustiores me erant./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃22 יצילני מאיבי עז משנאי כי אמצו ממני (Ⅴ)

Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de ma détresse, Mais l'Éternel fut mon appui.

Il m'a mis au large, Il m'a sauvé, parce qu'il m'aime.
- He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξήγαγέν με εἰς πλατυσμὸν καὶ ἐξείλατό με ὅτι εὐδόκησεν ἐν ἐμοί (Ⅲ) - Et eduxit me in latitudinem :/ liberavit me, quia complacui ei./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃22 ויצא למרחב אתי יחלצני כי חפץ בי (Ⅴ)

L'Éternel m'a traité selon ma droiture, Il m'a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains;
- The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνταπέδωκέν μοι κύριος κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου κατὰ τὴν καθαριότητα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν μου ἀνταπέδωκέν μοι (Ⅲ) - Retribuet mihi Dominus secundum justitiam meam :/ et secundum munditiam manuum mearum reddet mihi./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃22 יגמלני יהוה כצדקתי כבר ידי ישיב לי (Ⅴ)

Car j'ai observé les voies de l'Éternel, Et je n'ai point été coupable envers mon Dieu.
- For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἐφύλαξα ὁδοὺς κυρίου καὶ οὐκ ἠσέβησα ἀπὸ του̃ θεου̃ μου (Ⅲ) - Quia custodivi vias Domini,/ et non egi impie a Deo meo./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃22 כי שמרתי דרכי יהוה ולא רשעתי מאלהי (Ⅴ)

Toutes ses ordonnances ont été devant moi, Et je ne me suis point écarté de ses lois.
- For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι πάντα τὰ κρίματα αὐτου̃ κατεναντίον μου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἀπέστην ἀπ' αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Omnia enim judicia ejus in conspectu meo,/ et præcepta ejus non amovi a me./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃22 כי כל *משפטו **משפטיו לנגדי וחקתיו לא אסור ממנה (Ⅴ)

J'ai été sans reproche envers lui, Et je me suis tenu en garde contre mon iniquité.
- I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσομαι ἄμωμος αὐτω̨̃ καὶ προφυλάξομαι ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἀνομίας μου (Ⅲ) - Et ero perfectus cum eo,/ et custodiam me ab iniquitate mea./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃22 ואהיה תמים לו ואשתמרה מעוני (Ⅴ)

Aussi l'Éternel m'a rendu selon ma droiture, Selon ma pureté devant ses yeux.
- Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀποδώσει μοι κύριος κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου καὶ κατὰ τὴν καθαριότητα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν μου ἐνώπιον τω̃ν ὀφθαλμω̃ν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et restituet mihi Dominus secundum justitiam meam,/ et secundum munditiam manuum mearum in conspectu oculorum suorum./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃22 וישב יהוה לי כצדקתי כברי לנגד עיניו (Ⅴ)

Avec celui qui est bon tu te montres bon, Avec l'homme droit tu agis selon ta droiture,
- With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright. (Ⅱ) - μετὰ ὁσίου ὁσιωθήση̨ καὶ μετὰ ἀνδρὸς τελείου τελειωθήση̨ (Ⅲ) - Cum sancto sanctus eris,/ et cum robusto perfectus./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃22 עם חסיד תתחסד עם גבור תמים תתמם (Ⅴ)

Avec celui qui est pur tu te montres pur, Et avec le pervers tu agis selon sa perversité.
- With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt show thyself unsavory. (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετὰ ἐκλεκτου̃ ἐκλεκτὸς ἔση̨ καὶ μετὰ στρεβλου̃ στρεβλωθήση̨ (Ⅲ) - Cum electo electus eris,/ et cum perverso perverteris./ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃22 עם נבר תתבר ועם עקש תתפל (Ⅴ)

Tu sauves le peuple qui s'humilie, Et de ton regard, tu abaisses les orgueilleux.
- And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὸν λαὸν τὸν πτωχὸν σώσεις καὶ ὀφθαλμοὺς ἐπὶ μετεώρων ταπεινώσεις (Ⅲ) - Et populum pauperem salvum facies :/ oculisque tuis excelsos humiliabis./ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃22 ואת עם עני תושיע ועיניך על רמים תשפיל (Ⅴ)

Oui, tu es ma lumière, ô Éternel! L'Éternel éclaire mes ténèbres.
- For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι σὺ ὁ λύχνος μου κύριε καὶ κύριος ἐκλάμψει μοι τὸ σκότος μου (Ⅲ) - Quia tu lucerna mea, Domine,/ et tu, Domine, illuminabis tenebras meas./ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃22 כי אתה נירי יהוה ויהוה יגיה חשכי (Ⅴ)

Avec toi je me précipite sur une troupe en armes, Avec mon Dieu je franchis une muraille.
- For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἐν σοὶ δραμου̃μαι μονόζωνος καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ μου ὑπερβήσομαι τει̃χος (Ⅲ) - In te enim curram accinctus :/ in Deo meo transiliam murum./ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃22 כי בכה ארוץ גדוד באלהי אדלג שור (Ⅴ)

Les voies de Dieu sont parfaites, La parole de l'Éternel est éprouvée; Il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.
- As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. (Ⅱ) - ὁ ἰσχυρός ἄμωμος ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτου̃ τὸ ῥη̃μα κυρίου κραταιόν πεπυρωμένον ὑπερασπιστής ἐστιν πα̃σιν τοι̃ς πεποιθόσιν ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Deus, immaculata via ejus ;/ eloquium Domini igne examinatum :/ scutum est omnium sperantium in se./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃22 האל תמים דרכו אמרת יהוה צרופה מגן הוא לכל החסים בו (Ⅴ)

Car qui est Dieu, si ce n'est l'Éternel? Et qui est un rocher, si ce n'est notre Dieu?
- For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God? (Ⅱ) - τίς ἰσχυρὸς πλὴν κυρίου καὶ τίς κτίστης ἔσται πλὴν του̃ θεου̃ ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Quis est Deus præter Dominum,/ et quis fortis præter Deum nostrum ?/ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃22 כי מי אל מבלעדי יהוה ומי צור מבלעדי אלהינו (Ⅴ)

C'est Dieu qui est ma puissante forteresse, Et qui me conduit dans la voie droite.
- God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. (Ⅱ) - ὁ ἰσχυρὸς ὁ κραταιω̃ν με δυνάμει καὶ ἐξετίναξεν ἄμωμον τὴν ὁδόν μου (Ⅲ) - Deus qui accinxit me fortitudine,/ et complanavit perfectam viam meam./ (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃22 האל מעוזי חיל ויתר תמים *דרכו **דרכי (Ⅴ)

Il rend mes pieds semblables à ceux des biches, Et il me place sur mes lieux élevés.
- He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places. (Ⅱ) - τιθεὶς τοὺς πόδας μου ὡς ἐλάφων καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕψη ἱστω̃ν με (Ⅲ) - Coæquans pedes meos cervis,/ et super excelsa mea statuens me ;/ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃22 משוה *רגליו **רגלי כאילות ועל במותי יעמדני (Ⅴ)

Il exerce mes mains au combat, Et mes bras tendent l'arc d'airain.
- He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. (Ⅱ) - διδάσκων χει̃ράς μου εἰς πόλεμον καὶ κατάξας τόξον χαλκου̃ν ἐν βραχίονί μου (Ⅲ) - docens manus meas ad prælium,/ et componens quasi arcum æreum brachia mea./ (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃22 מלמד ידי למלחמה ונחת קשת נחושה זרעתי (Ⅴ)

Tu me donnes le bouclier de ton salut, Et je deviens grand par ta bonté.
- Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδωκάς μοι ὑπερασπισμὸν σωτηρίας μου καὶ ἡ ὑπακοή σου ἐπλήθυνέν με (Ⅲ) - Dedisti mihi clypeum salutis tuæ,/ et mansuetudo tua multiplicavit me./ (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃22 ותתן לי מגן ישעך וענתך תרבני (Ⅴ)

Tu élargis le chemin sous mes pas, Et mes pieds ne chancellent point.

Je poursuis mes ennemis, et je les détruis; Je ne reviens pas avant de les avoir anéantis.
- I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them. (Ⅱ) - διώξω ἐχθρούς μου καὶ ἀφανιω̃ αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἀναστρέψω ἕως συντελέσω αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Persequar inimicos meos, et conteram,/ et non convertar donec consumam eos./ (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃22 ארדפה איבי ואשמידם ולא אשוב עד כלותם (Ⅴ)

Je les anéantis, je les brise, et ils ne se relèvent plus; Ils tombent sous mes pieds.
- And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet. - For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐνισχύσεις με δυνάμει εἰς πόλεμον κάμψεις τοὺς ἐπανιστανομένους μοι ὑποκάτω μου (Ⅲ) - Accinxisti me fortitudine ad prælium :/ incurvasti resistentes mihi subtus me./ (Ⅳ) - 40 ׃22 ותזרני חיל למלחמה תכריע קמי תחתני (Ⅴ)

Tu fais tourner le dos à mes ennemis devant moi, Et j'extermine ceux qui me haïssent.
- Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. Ils regardent autour d'eux, et personne pour les sauver! Ils crient à l'Éternel, et il ne leur répond pas!
- They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not. (Ⅱ) - βοήσονται καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν βοηθός πρὸς κύριον καὶ οὐχ ὑπήκουσεν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Clamabunt, et non erit qui salvet ;/ ad Dominum, et non exaudiet eos./ (Ⅳ) - 42 ׃22 ישעו ואין משיע אל יהוה ולא ענם (Ⅴ)

- Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad. Tu me délivres des dissensions de mon peuple; Tu me conserves pour chef des nations; Un peuple que je ne connaissais pas m'est asservi.
- Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ῥύση̨ με ἐκ μάχης λαω̃ν φυλάξεις με εἰς κεφαλὴν ἐθνω̃ν λαός ὃν οὐκ ἔγνων ἐδούλευσάν μοι (Ⅲ) - Salvabis me a contradictionibus populi mei ;/ custodies me in caput gentium :/ populus quem ignoro serviet mihi./ (Ⅳ) - 44 ׃22 ותפלטני מריבי עמי תשמרני לראש גוים עם לא ידעתי יעבדני (Ⅴ)

Les fils de l'étranger me flattent, Ils m'obéissent au premier ordre.
- Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me. (Ⅱ) - υἱοὶ ἀλλότριοι ἐψεύσαντό μοι εἰς ἀκοὴν ὠτίου ἤκουσάν μου (Ⅲ) - Filii alieni resistent mihi ;/ auditu auris obedient mihi./ (Ⅳ) - 45 ׃22 בני נכר יתכחשו לי לשמוע אזן ישמעו לי (Ⅴ)

Les fils de l'étranger sont en défaillance, Ils tremblent hors de leurs forteresses.
- Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places. (Ⅱ) - υἱοὶ ἀλλότριοι ἀπορριφήσονται καὶ σφαλου̃σιν ἐκ τω̃ν συγκλεισμω̃ν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Filii alieni defluxerunt,/ et contrahentur in angustiis suis./ (Ⅳ) - 46 ׃22 בני נכר יבלו ויחגרו ממסגרותם (Ⅴ)

Vive l'Éternel est vivant, et béni soit mon rocher! Que Dieu, le rocher de mon salut, soit exalté,
- The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation. - It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me. (Ⅱ) - ἰσχυρὸς κύριος ὁ διδοὺς ἐκδικήσεις ἐμοί παιδεύων λαοὺς ὑποκάτω μου (Ⅲ) - Deus qui das vindictas mihi,/ et dejicis populos sub me./ (Ⅳ) - 48 ׃22 האל הנתן נקמת לי ומוריד עמים תחתני (Ⅴ)

Et qui me fait échapper à mes ennemis! Tu m'élèves au-dessus de mes adversaires, Tu me délivres de l'homme violent.
- And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. C'est pourquoi je te louerai parmi les nations, ô Éternel! Et je chanterai à la gloire de ton nom.
- Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
