Voici le contenu de la lettre que Jérémie, le prophète, envoya de Jérusalem au reste des anciens en captivité, aux sacrificateurs, aux prophètes, et à tout le peuple, que Nebucadnetsar avait emmenés captifs de Jérusalem à Babylone,
- Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon; (Ⅱ) - Et hæc sunt verba libri quem misit Jeremias propheta de Jerusalem ad reliquias seniorum transmigrationis, et ad sacerdotes, et ad prophetas, et ad omnem populum quem traduxerat Nabuchodonosor de Jerusalem in Babylonem, (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃29 ואלה דברי הספר אשר שלח ירמיה הנביא מירושלם אל יתר זקני הגולה ואל הכהנים ואל הנביאים ואל כל העם אשר הגלה נבוכדנאצר מירושלם בבלה (Ⅴ)

après que le roi Jeconia, la reine, les eunuques, les chefs de Juda et de Jérusalem, les charpentiers et les serruriers, furent sortis de Jérusalem.
- (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;) (Ⅱ) - postquam egressus est Jechonias rex, et domina, et eunuchi, et principes Juda et Jerusalem, et faber et inclusor, de Jerusalem, (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃29 אחרי צאת יכניה המלך והגבירה והסריסים שרי יהודה וירושלם והחרש והמסגר מירושלם (Ⅴ)

Il la remit à Éleasa, fils de Schaphan, et à Guemaria, fils de Hilkija, envoyés à Babylone par Sédécias, roi de Juda, auprès de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone. Elle était ainsi conçue:
- By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying, (Ⅱ) - in manu Elasa filii Saphan, et Gamariæ filii Helciæ, quos misit Sedecias rex Juda ad Nabuchodonosor regem Babylonis in Babylonem, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃29 ביד אלעשה בן שפן וגמריה בן חלקיה אשר שלח צדקיה מלך יהודה אל נבוכדנאצר מלך בבל בבלה לאמר ס (Ⅴ)

Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, à tous les captifs que j'ai emmenés de Jérusalem à Babylone:
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; (Ⅱ) - Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël, omni transmigrationi quam transtuli de Jerusalem in Babylonem : (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃29 כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל לכל הגולה אשר הגליתי מירושלם בבלה (Ⅴ)

Bâtissez des maisons, et habitez-les; plantez des jardins, et mangez-en les fruits.
- Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; (Ⅱ) - Ædificate domos, et habitate : et plantate hortos, et comedite fructum eorum. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃29 בנו בתים ושבו ונטעו גנות ואכלו את פרין (Ⅴ)

Prenez des femmes, et engendrez des fils et des filles; prenez des femmes pour vos fils, et donnez des maris à vos filles, afin qu'elles enfantent des fils et des filles; multipliez là où vous êtes, et ne diminuez pas.
- Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. (Ⅱ) - Accipite uxores, et generate filios et filias : et date filiis vestris uxores, et filias vestras date viris, et pariant filios et filias : et multiplicamini ibi, et nolite esse pauci numero. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃29 קחו נשים והולידו בנים ובנות וקחו לבניכם נשים ואת בנותיכם תנו לאנשים ותלדנה בנים ובנות ורבו שם ואל תמעטו (Ⅴ)

Recherchez le bien de la ville où je vous ai menés en captivité, et priez l'Éternel en sa faveur, parce que votre bonheur dépend du sien.
- And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. (Ⅱ) - Et quærite pacem civitatis ad quam transmigrare vos feci, et orate pro ea ad Dominum, quia in pace illius erit pax vobis. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃29 ודרשו את שלום העיר אשר הגליתי אתכם שמה והתפללו בעדה אל יהוה כי בשלומה יהיה לכם שלום פ (Ⅴ)

Car ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Ne vous laissez pas tromper par vos prophètes qui sont au milieu de vous, et par vos devins, n'écoutez pas vos songeurs dont vous provoquez les songes!
- For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. (Ⅱ) - Hæc enim dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël : Non vos seducant prophetæ vestri qui sunt in medio vestrum, et divini vestri, et ne attendatis ad somnia vestra quæ vos somniatis : (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃29 כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל אל ישיאו לכם נביאיכם אשר בקרבכם וקסמיכם ואל תשמעו אל חלמתיכם אשר אתם מחלמים (Ⅴ)

Car c'est le mensonge qu'ils vous prophétisent en mon nom. Je ne les ai point envoyés, dit l'Éternel.
- For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD. (Ⅱ) - quia falso ipsi prophetant vobis in nomine meo, et non misi eos, dicit Dominus. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃29 כי בשקר הם נבאים לכם בשמי לא שלחתים נאם יהוה ס (Ⅴ)

Mais voici ce que dit l'Éternel: Dès que soixante-dix ans seront écoulés pour Babylone, je me souviendrai de vous, et j'accomplirai à votre égard ma bonne parole, en vous ramenant dans ce lieu.
- For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. (Ⅱ) - Quia hæc dicit Dominus : Cum cœperint impleri in Babylone septuaginta anni, visitabo vos, et suscitabo super vos verbum meum bonum, ut reducam vos ad locum istum. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃29 כי כה אמר יהוה כי לפי מלאת לבבל שבעים שנה אפקד אתכם והקמתי עליכם את דברי הטוב להשיב אתכם אל המקום הזה (Ⅴ)

Car je connais les projets que j'ai formés sur vous, dit l'Éternel, projets de paix et non de malheur, afin de vous donner un avenir et de l'espérance.
- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Ⅱ) - Ego enim scio cogitationes quas ego cogito super vos, ait Dominus, cogitationes pacis et non afflictionis, ut dem vobis finem et patientiam. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃29 כי אנכי ידעתי את המחשבת אשר אנכי חשב עליכם נאם יהוה מחשבות שלום ולא לרעה לתת לכם אחרית ותקוה (Ⅴ)

Vous m'invoquerez, et vous partirez; vous me prierez, et je vous exaucerai.
- Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. (Ⅱ) - Et invocabitis me, et ibitis : et orabitis me, et ego exaudiam vos. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃29 וקראתם אתי והלכתם והתפללתם אלי ושמעתי אליכם (Ⅴ)

Vous me chercherez, et vous me trouverez, si vous me cherchez de tout votre coeur.
- And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Ⅱ) - Quæretis me, et invenietis, cum quæsieritis me in toto corde vestro. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃29 ובקשתם אתי ומצאתם כי תדרשני בכל לבבכם (Ⅴ)

Je me laisserai trouver par vous, dit l'Éternel, et je ramènerai vos captifs; je vous rassemblerai de toutes les nations et de tous les lieux où je vous ai chassés, dit l'Éternel, et je vous ramènerai dans le lieu d'où je vous ai fait aller en captivité.
- And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. (Ⅱ) - Et inveniar a vobis, ait Dominus : et reducam captivitatem vestram, et congregabo vos de universis gentibus et de cunctis locis ad quæ expuli vos, dicit Dominus, et reverti vos faciam de loco ad quem transmigrare vos feci. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃29 ונמצאתי לכם נאם יהוה ושבתי את *שביתכם **שבותכם וקבצתי אתכם מכל הגוים ומכל המקומות אשר הדחתי אתכם שם נאם יהוה והשבתי אתכם אל המקום אשר הגליתי אתכם משם (Ⅴ)

Cependant vous dites: Dieu nous a suscité des prophètes à Babylone!
- Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon; (Ⅱ) - Quia dixistis : Suscitavit nobis Dominus prophetas in Babylone : (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃29 כי אמרתם הקים לנו יהוה נבאים בבלה ס (Ⅴ)

Ainsi parle l'Éternel sur le roi qui occupe le trône de David, sur tout le peuple qui habite cette ville, sur vos frères qui ne sont point allés avec vous en captivité;
- Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity; (Ⅱ) - quia hæc dicit Dominus ad regem qui sedet super solium David, et ad omnem populum habitatorem urbis hujus, ad fratres vestros qui non sunt egressi vobiscum in transmigrationem : (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃29 כי כה אמר יהוה אל המלך היושב אל כסא דוד ואל כל העם היושב בעיר הזאת אחיכם אשר לא יצאו אתכם בגולה (Ⅴ)

ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Voici, j'enverrai parmi eux l'épée, la famine et la peste, et je les rendrai semblables à des figues affreuses qui ne peuvent être mangées à cause de leur mauvaise qualité.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. (Ⅱ) - hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Ecce mittam in eos gladium, et famem, et pestem : et ponam eos quasi ficus malas, quæ comedi non possunt eo quod pessimæ sint : (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃29 כה אמר יהוה צבאות הנני משלח בם את החרב את הרעב ואת הדבר ונתתי אותם כתאנים השערים אשר לא תאכלנה מרע (Ⅴ)

Je les poursuivrai par l'épée, par la famine et par la peste, je les rendrai un objet d'effroi pour tous les royaumes de la terre, un sujet de malédiction, de désolation, de moquerie et d'opprobre, parmi toutes les nations où je les chasserai,
- And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them: (Ⅱ) - et persequar eos in gladio, et in fame, et in pestilentia : et dabo eos in vexationem universis regnis terræ : in maledictionem, et in stuporem, et in sibilum, et in opprobrium cunctis gentibus ad quas ego ejeci eos, (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃29 ורדפתי אחריהם בחרב ברעב ובדבר ונתתים *לזועה **לזעוה לכל ממלכות הארץ לאלה ולשמה ולשרקה ולחרפה בכל הגוים אשר הדחתים שם (Ⅴ)

parce qu'ils n'ont pas écouté mes paroles, dit l'Éternel, eux à qui j'ai envoyé mes serviteurs, les prophètes, à qui je les ai envoyés dès le matin; et ils n'ont pas écouté, dit l'Éternel.
- Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD. (Ⅱ) - eo quod non audierint verba mea, dicit Dominus, quæ misit ad eos per servos meos prophetas, de nocte consurgens et mittens : et non audistis, dicit Dominus. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃29 תחת אשר לא שמעו אל דברי נאם יהוה אשר שלחתי אליהם את עבדי הנבאים השכם ושלח ולא שמעתם נאם יהוה (Ⅴ)

Mais vous, écoutez la parole de l'Éternel, vous tous, captifs, que j'ai envoyés de Jérusalem à Babylone!
- Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon: (Ⅱ) - Vos ergo audite verbum Domini, omnis transmigratio quam emisi de Jerusalem in Babylonem. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃29 ואתם שמעו דבר יהוה כל הגולה אשר שלחתי מירושלם בבלה ס (Ⅴ)

Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, sur Achab, fils de Kolaja, et sur Sédécias, fils de Maaséja, qui vous prophétisent le mensonge en mon nom: Voici, je les livre entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone; et il les fera mourir sous vos yeux.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes; (Ⅱ) - Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël, ad Achab filium Coliæ, et ad Sedeciam filium Maasiæ, qui prophetant vobis in nomine meo mendaciter : Ecce ego tradam eos in manus Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis, et percutiet eos in oculis vestris : (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃29 כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל אל אחאב בן קוליה ואל צדקיהו בן מעשיה הנבאים לכם בשמי שקר הנני נתן אתם ביד נבוכדראצר מלך בבל והכם לעיניכם (Ⅴ)

On se servira d'eux comme d'un sujet de malédiction, parmi tous les captifs de Juda qui sont à Babylone; on dira: Que l'Éternel te traite comme Sédécias et comme Achab, que le roi de Babylone a fait rôtir au feu!
- And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire; (Ⅱ) - et assumetur ex eis maledictio omni transmigrationi Juda quæ est in Babylone, dicentium : Ponat te Dominus sicut Sedeciam et sicut Achab, quos frixit rex Babylonis in igne : (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃29 ולקח מהם קללה לכל גלות יהודה אשר בבבל לאמר ישמך יהוה כצדקיהו וכאחב אשר קלם מלך בבל באש (Ⅴ)

Et cela arrivera parce qu'ils ont commis une infamie en Israël, se livrant à l'adultère avec les femmes de leur prochain, et parce qu'ils ont dit des mensonges en mon nom, quand je ne leur avais point donné d'ordre. Je le sais, et j'en suis témoin, dit l'Éternel.
- Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD. (Ⅱ) - pro eo quod fecerint stultitiam in Israël, et mœchati sunt in uxores amicorum suorum, et locuti sunt verbum in nomine meo mendaciter, quod non mandavi eis. Ego sum judex et testis, dicit Dominus. (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃29 יען אשר עשו נבלה בישראל וינאפו את נשי רעיהם וידברו דבר בשמי שקר אשר לוא צויתם ואנכי *הוידע **היודע ועד נאם יהוה ס (Ⅴ)

Tu diras à Schemaeja, Néchélamite:
- Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying, (Ⅱ) - Et ad Semeiam Nehelamiten dices : (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃29 ואל שמעיהו הנחלמי תאמר לאמר (Ⅴ)

Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Tu as envoyé en ton nom à tout le peuple de Jérusalem, à Sophonie, fils de Maaséja, le sacrificateur, et à tous les sacrificateurs, une lettre ainsi conçue:
- Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, (Ⅱ) - Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël : Pro eo quod misisti in nomine tuo libros ad omnem populum qui est in Jerusalem, et ad Sophoniam filium Maasiæ sacerdotem, et ad universos sacerdotes, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃29 כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל לאמר יען אשר אתה שלחת בשמכה ספרים אל כל העם אשר בירושלם ואל צפניה בן מעשיה הכהן ואל כל הכהנים לאמר (Ⅴ)

L'Éternel t'a établi sacrificateur à la place de Jehojada, le sacrificateur, afin qu'il y ait dans la maison de l'Éternel des inspecteurs pour surveiller tout homme qui est fou et se donne pour prophète, et afin que tu le mettes en prison et dans les fers.
- The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks. (Ⅱ) - Dominus dedit te sacerdotem pro Jojade sacerdote, ut sis dux in domo Domini, super omnem virum arreptitium et prophetantem, ut mittas eum in nervum et in carcerem : (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃29 יהוה נתנך כהן תחת יהוידע הכהן להיות פקדים בית יהוה לכל איש משגע ומתנבא ונתתה אתו אל המהפכת ואל הצינק (Ⅴ)

Maintenant, pourquoi ne réprimes-tu pas Jérémie d'Anathoth, qui prophétise parmi vous,
- Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you? (Ⅱ) - et nunc quare non increpasti Jeremiam Anathothiten, qui prophetat vobis ? (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃29 ועתה למה לא גערת בירמיהו הענתתי המתנבא לכם (Ⅴ)

qui nous a même envoyé dire à Babylone: Elle sera longue, la captivité; bâtissez des maisons, et habitez-les; plantez des jardins, et mangez-en les fruits! -
- For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them. (Ⅱ) - Quia super hoc misit in Babylonem ad nos, dicens : Longum est : ædificate domos, et habitate : et plantate hortos, et comedite fructus eorum. (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃29 כי על כן שלח אלינו בבל לאמר ארכה היא בנו בתים ושבו ונטעו גנות ואכלו את פריהן (Ⅴ)

Sophonie, le sacrificateur, lut cette lettre en présence de Jérémie, le prophète. -
- And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet. (Ⅱ) - Legit ergo Sophonias sacerdos librum istum in auribus Jeremiæ prophetæ. (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃29 ויקרא צפניה הכהן את הספר הזה באזני ירמיהו הנביא פ (Ⅴ)

Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie, en ces mots:
- Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, (Ⅱ) - Et factum est verbum Domini ad Jeremiam, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃29 ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו לאמר (Ⅴ)

Fais dire à tous les captifs: Ainsi parle l'Éternel sur Schemaeja, Néchélamite: Parce que Schemaeja vous prophétise, sans que je l'aie envoyé, et qu'il vous inspire une fausse confiance,
- Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie: (Ⅱ) - Mitte ad omnem transmigrationem, dicens : Hæc dicit Dominus ad Semeiam Nehelamiten : Pro eo quod prophetavit vobis Semeias, et ego non misi eum, et fecit vos confidere in mendacio, (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃29 שלח על כל הגולה לאמר כה אמר יהוה אל שמעיה הנחלמי יען אשר נבא לכם שמעיה ואני לא שלחתיו ויבטח אתכם על שקר (Ⅴ)

voici ce que dit l'Éternel: Je châtierai Schemaeja, Néchélamite, et sa postérité; nul des siens n'habitera au milieu de ce peuple, et il ne verra pas le bien que je ferai à mon peuple, dit l'Éternel; car ses paroles sont une révolte contre l'Éternel.
- Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD. (Ⅱ) - idcirco hæc dicit Dominus : Ecce ego visitabo super Semeiam Nehelamiten, et super semen ejus : non erit ei vir sedens in medio populi hujus, et non videbit bonum quod ego faciam populo meo, ait Dominus, quia prævaricationem locutus est adversus Dominum. (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃29 לכן כה אמר יהוה הנני פקד על שמעיה הנחלמי ועל זרעו לא יהיה לו איש יושב בתוך העם הזה ולא יראה בטוב אשר אני עשה לעמי נאם יהוה כי סרה דבר על יהוה ס (Ⅴ)
