Venerunt ergo viri Cariathiarim, et reduxerunt arcam Domini, et intulerunt eam in domum Abinadab in Gabaa : Eleazarum autem filium ejus sanctificaverunt, ut custodiret arcam Domini.\
- Les gens de Kirjath Jearim vinrent, et firent monter l'arche de l'Éternel; ils la conduisirent dans la maison d'Abinadab, sur la colline, et ils consacrèrent son fils Éléazar pour garder l'arche de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἔρχονται οἱ ἄνδρες Καριαθιαριμ καὶ ἀνάγουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ εἰσάγουσιν αὐτὴν εἰς οἰ̃κον Αμιναδαβ τὸν ἐν τω̨̃ βουνω̨̃ καὶ τὸν Ελεαζαρ υἱὸν αὐτου̃ ἡγίασαν φυλάσσειν τὴν κιβωτὸν διαθήκης κυρίου (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃7 ויבאו אנשי קרית יערים ויעלו את ארון יהוה ויבאו אתו אל בית אבינדב בגבעה ואת אלעזר בנו קדשו לשמר את ארון יהוה פ (Ⅴ)

Et factum est, ex qua die mansit arca Domini in Cariathiarim, multiplicati sunt dies (erat quippe jam annus vigesimus), et requievit omnis domus Israël post Dominum.
- Il s'était passé bien du temps depuis le jour où l'arche avait été déposée à Kirjath Jearim. Vingt années s'étaient écoulées. Alors toute la maison d'Israël poussa des gémissements vers l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη ἀφ' ἡ̃ς ἡμέρας ἠ̃ν ἡ κιβωτὸς ἐν Καριαθιαριμ ἐπλήθυναν αἱ ἡμέραι καὶ ἐγένοντο εἴκοσι ἔτη καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν πα̃ς οἰ̃κος Ισραηλ ὀπίσω κυρίου (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃7 ויהי מיום שבת הארון בקרית יערים וירבו הימים ויהיו עשרים שנה וינהו כל בית ישראל אחרי יהוה ס (Ⅴ)

Ait autem Samuel ad universam domum Israël, dicens : Si in toto corde vestro revertimini ad Dominum, auferte deos alienos de medio vestri, Baalim et Astaroth : et præparate corda vestra Domino, et servite ei soli, et eruet vos de manu Philisthiim.
- Samuel dit à toute la maison d'Israël: Si c'est de tout votre coeur que vous revenez à l'Éternel, ôtez du milieu de vous les dieux étrangers et les Astartés, dirigez votre coeur vers l'Éternel, et servez-le lui seul; et il vous délivrera de la main des Philistins. (Ⅱ) - And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. (Ⅲ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς πάντα οἰ̃κον Ισραηλ λέγων εἰ ἐν ὅλη̨ καρδία̨ ὑμω̃ν ὑμει̃ς ἐπιστρέφετε πρὸς κύριον περιέλετε τοὺς θεοὺς τοὺς ἀλλοτρίους ἐκ μέσου ὑμω̃ν καὶ τὰ ἄλση καὶ ἑτοιμάσατε τὰς καρδίας ὑμω̃ν πρὸς κύριον καὶ δουλεύσατε αὐτω̨̃ μόνω̨ καὶ ἐξελει̃ται ὑμα̃ς ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλοφύλων (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃7 ויאמר שמואל אל כל בית ישראל לאמר אם בכל לבבכם אתם שבים אל יהוה הסירו את אלהי הנכר מתוככם והעשתרות והכינו לבבכם אל יהוה ועבדהו לבדו ויצל אתכם מיד פלשתים (Ⅴ)

Abstulerunt ergo filii Israël Baalim et Astaroth, et servierunt Domino soli.
- Et les enfants d'Israël ôtèrent du milieu d'eux les Baals et les Astartés, et ils servirent l'Éternel seul. (Ⅱ) - Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only. (Ⅲ) - καὶ περιει̃λον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὰς Βααλιμ καὶ τὰ ἄλση Ασταρωθ καὶ ἐδούλευσαν κυρίω̨ μόνω̨ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃7 ויסירו בני ישראל את הבעלים ואת העשתרת ויעבדו את יהוה לבדו פ (Ⅴ)

Dixit autem Samuel : Congregate universum Israël in Masphath, ut orem pro vobis Dominum.
- Samuel dit: Assemblez tout Israël à Mitspa, et je prierai l'Éternel pour vous. Et ils s'assemblèrent à Mitspa. (Ⅱ) - And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the LORD. (Ⅲ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμουηλ ἀθροίσατε πάντα Ισραηλ εἰς Μασσηφαθ καὶ προσεύξομαι περὶ ὑμω̃ν πρὸς κύριον (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃7 ויאמר שמואל קבצו את כל ישראל המצפתה ואתפלל בעדכם אל יהוה (Ⅴ)

Et convenerunt in Masphath : hauseruntque aquam, et effuderunt in conspectu Domini : et jejunaverunt in die illa atque dixerunt ibi : Peccavimus Domino. Judicavitque Samuel filios Israël in Masphath.
- Ils puisèrent de l'eau et la répandirent devant l'Éternel, et ils jeûnèrent ce jour-là, en disant: Nous avons péché contre l'Éternel! Samuel jugea les enfants d'Israël à Mitspa. (Ⅱ) - And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh. (Ⅲ) - καὶ συνήχθησαν εἰς Μασσηφαθ καὶ ὑδρεύονται ὕδωρ καὶ ἐξέχεαν ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ ἐνήστευσαν ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ εἰ̃παν ἡμαρτήκαμεν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ἐδίκαζεν Σαμουηλ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ εἰς Μασσηφαθ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃7 ויקבצו המצפתה וישאבו מים וישפכו לפני יהוה ויצומו ביום ההוא ויאמרו שם חטאנו ליהוה וישפט שמואל את בני ישראל במצפה (Ⅴ)

Et audierunt Philisthiim quod congregati essent filii Israël in Masphath, et ascenderunt satrapæ Philisthinorum ad Israël. Quod cum audissent filii Israël, timuerunt a facie Philisthinorum.
- Les Philistins apprirent que les enfants d'Israël s'étaient assemblés à Mitspa, et les princes des Philistins montèrent contre Israël. A cette nouvelle, les enfants d'Israël eurent peur des Philistins, (Ⅱ) - And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ὅτι συνηθροίσθησαν πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ εἰς Μασσηφαθ καὶ ἀνέβησαν σατράπαι ἀλλοφύλων ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀκούουσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν ἀπὸ προσώπου ἀλλοφύλων (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃7 וישמעו פלשתים כי התקבצו בני ישראל המצפתה ויעלו סרני פלשתים אל ישראל וישמעו בני ישראל ויראו מפני פלשתים (Ⅴ)

Dixeruntque ad Samuelem : Ne cesses pro nobis clamare ad Dominum Deum nostrum, ut salvet nos de manu Philisthinorum.
- et ils dirent à Samuel: Ne cesse point de crier pour nous à l'Éternel, notre Dieu, afin qu'il nous sauve de la main des Philistins. (Ⅱ) - And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. (Ⅲ) - καὶ εἰ̃παν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ πρὸς Σαμουηλ μὴ παρασιωπήση̨ς ἀφ' ἡμω̃ν του̃ μὴ βοα̃ν πρὸς κύριον θεόν σου καὶ σώσει ἡμα̃ς ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλοφύλων (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃7 ויאמרו בני ישראל אל שמואל אל תחרש ממנו מזעק אל יהוה אלהינו וישענו מיד פלשתים (Ⅴ)

Tulit autem Samuel agnum lactentem unum, et obtulit illum holocaustum integrum Domino : et clamavit Samuel ad Dominum pro Israël, et exaudivit eum Dominus.\
- Samuel prit un agneau de lait, et l'offrit tout entier en holocauste à l'Éternel. Il cria à l'Éternel pour Israël, et l'Éternel l'exauça. (Ⅱ) - And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαμουηλ ἄρνα γαλαθηνὸν ἕνα καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ὁλοκαύτωσιν σὺν παντὶ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ καὶ ἐβόησεν Σαμουηλ πρὸς κύριον περὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτου̃ κύριος (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃7 ויקח שמואל טלה חלב אחד *ויעלה **ויעלהו עולה כליל ליהוה ויזעק שמואל אל יהוה בעד ישראל ויענהו יהוה (Ⅴ)

Factum est autem, cum Samuel offerret holocaustum, Philisthiim iniere prælium contra Israël : intonuit autem Dominus fragore magno in die illa super Philisthiim, et exterruit eos, et cæsi sunt a facie Israël.
- Pendant que Samuel offrait l'holocauste, les Philistins s'approchèrent pour attaquer Israël. L'Éternel fit retentir en ce jour son tonnerre sur les Philistins, et les mit en déroute. Ils furent battus devant Israël. (Ⅱ) - And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἠ̃ν Σαμουηλ ἀναφέρων τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν καὶ ἀλλόφυλοι προση̃γον εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐβρόντησεν κύριος ἐν φωνη̨̃ μεγάλη̨ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ συνεχύθησαν καὶ ἔπταισαν ἐνώπιον Ισραηλ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃7 ויהי שמואל מעלה העולה ופלשתים נגשו למלחמה בישראל וירעם יהוה בקול גדול ביום ההוא על פלשתים ויהמם וינגפו לפני ישראל (Ⅴ)

Egressique viri Israël de Masphath, persecuti sunt Philisthæos, et percusserunt eos usque ad locum qui erat subter Bethchar.
- Les hommes d'Israël sortirent de Mitspa, poursuivirent les Philistins, et les battirent jusqu'au-dessous de Beth Car. (Ⅱ) - And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐξη̃λθαν ἄνδρες Ισραηλ ἐκ Μασσηφαθ καὶ κατεδίωξαν τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτοὺς ἕως ὑποκάτω του̃ Βαιθχορ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃7 ויצאו אנשי ישראל מן המצפה וירדפו את פלשתים ויכום עד מתחת לבית כר (Ⅴ)

Tulit autem Samuel lapidem unum, et posuit eum inter Masphath et inter Sen : et vocavit nomen loci illius, Lapis adjutorii. Dixitque : Hucusque auxiliatus est nobis Dominus.
- Samuel prit une pierre, qu'il plaça entre Mitspa et Schen, et il l'appela du nom d'Ében Ézer, en disant: Jusqu'ici l'Éternel nous a secourus. (Ⅱ) - Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαμουηλ λίθον ἕνα καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἀνὰ μέσον Μασσηφαθ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τη̃ς παλαια̃ς καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ Αβενεζερ λίθος του̃ βοηθου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἕως ἐνταυ̃θα ἐβοήθησεν ἡμι̃ν κύριος (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃7 ויקח שמואל אבן אחת וישם בין המצפה ובין השן ויקרא את שמה אבן העזר ויאמר עד הנה עזרנו יהוה (Ⅴ)

Et humiliati sunt Philisthiim, nec apposuerunt ultra ut venirent in terminos Israël. Facta est itaque manus Domini super Philisthæos cunctis diebus Samuelis.
- Ainsi les Philistins furent humiliés, et ils ne vinrent plus sur le territoire d'Israël. La main de l'Éternel fut contre les Philistins pendant toute la vie de Samuel. (Ⅱ) - So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the coast of Israel: and the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐταπείνωσεν κύριος τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ οὐ προσέθεντο ἔτι προσελθει̃ν εἰς ὅριον Ισραηλ καὶ ἐγενήθη χεὶρ κυρίου ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας του̃ Σαμουηλ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃7 ויכנעו הפלשתים ולא יספו עוד לבוא בגבול ישראל ותהי יד יהוה בפלשתים כל ימי שמואל (Ⅴ)

Et redditæ sunt urbes quas tulerant Philisthiim ab Israël, Israëli, ab Accaron usque Geth, et terminos suos : liberavitque Israël de manu Philisthinorum, eratque pax inter Israël et Amorrhæum.
- Les villes que les Philistins avaient prises sur Israël retournèrent à Israël, depuis Ékron jusqu'à Gath, avec leur territoire; Israël les arracha de la main des Philistins. Et il y eut paix entre Israël et les Amoréens. (Ⅱ) - And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἀπεδόθησαν αἱ πόλεις ἃς ἔλαβον οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι παρὰ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπέδωκαν αὐτὰς τω̨̃ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ 'Ασκαλω̃νος ἕως Αζοβ καὶ τὸ ὅριον Ισραηλ ἀφείλαντο ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἠ̃ν εἰρήνη ἀνὰ μέσον Ισραηλ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ Αμορραίου (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃7 ותשבנה הערים אשר לקחו פלשתים מאת ישראל לישראל מעקרון ועד גת ואת גבולן הציל ישראל מיד פלשתים ויהי שלום בין ישראל ובין האמרי (Ⅴ)

Judicabat quoque Samuel Israëlem cunctis diebus vitæ suæ :
- Samuel fut juge en Israël pendant toute sa vie. (Ⅱ) - And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐδίκαζεν Σαμουηλ τὸν Ισραηλ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τη̃ς ζωη̃ς αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃7 וישפט שמואל את ישראל כל ימי חייו (Ⅴ)

et ibat per singulos annos circuiens Bethel et Galgala et Masphath, et judicabat Israëlem in supradictis locis.
- Il allait chaque année faire le tour de Béthel, de Guilgal et de Mitspa, et il jugeait Israël dans tous ces lieux. (Ⅱ) - And he went from year to year in circuit to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐπορεύετο κατ' ἐνιαυτὸν ἐνιαυτὸν καὶ ἐκύκλου Βαιθηλ καὶ τὴν Γαλγαλα καὶ τὴν Μασσηφαθ καὶ ἐδίκαζεν τὸν Ισραηλ ἐν πα̃σι τοι̃ς ἡγιασμένοις τούτοις (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃7 והלך מדי שנה בשנה וסבב בית אל והגלגל והמצפה ושפט את ישראל את כל המקומות האלה (Ⅴ)

Revertebaturque in Ramatha : ibi enim erat domus ejus, et ibi judicabat Israëlem : ædificavit etiam ibi altare Domino.
- Puis il revenait à Rama, où était sa maison; et là il jugeait Israël, et il y bâtit un autel à l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - And his return was to Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the LORD. (Ⅲ) - ἡ δὲ ἀποστροφὴ αὐτου̃ εἰς Αρμαθαιμ ὅτι ἐκει̃ ἠ̃ν ὁ οἰ̃κος αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐδίκαζεν ἐκει̃ τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν ἐκει̃ θυσιαστήριον τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃7 ותשבתו הרמתה כי שם ביתו ושם שפט את ישראל ויבן שם מזבח ליהוה פ (Ⅴ)
