104. 0  
The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
104. 1  
Woe to every slanderous scandal-monger and backbiter,
- Waylun likulli humazatin lumazatin (Ⅰ)
- Woe unto every slandering traducer, (Ⅱ)
- Woe unto every backbiter, slanderer, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ (Ⅳ)
- Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, (Ⅵ)
104. 2  
Who collects wealth and counts it.
- Allathee jamaAAa malan waAAaddadahu (Ⅰ)
- Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it. (Ⅱ)
- who has gathered riches and counted them over (Ⅲ)
- الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by, (Ⅵ)
104. 3  
He thinks that his wealth can immortalize him.
- Yahsabu anna malahu akhladahu (Ⅰ)
- He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. (Ⅱ)
- thinking his riches have made him immortal! (Ⅲ)
- يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! (Ⅵ)
104. 4  
Not so! He shall be hurled into El´Hutamah!
- Kalla layunbathanna fee alhutamati (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; he shall be thrust into the Crusher; (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ (Ⅳ)
- By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, (Ⅵ)
104. 5  
Ah, what shall make you understand what El´Hutamah is?
- Wama adraka ma alhutamatu (Ⅰ)
- Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is! (Ⅱ)
- and what shall teach thee what is the Crusher; (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ (Ⅳ)
- And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces? (Ⅵ)
104. 6  
The Fire by Allah kindled;
- Naru Allahi almooqadatu (Ⅰ)
- (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, (Ⅱ)
- The Fire of God kindled (Ⅲ)
- نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ (Ⅳ)
- (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), (Ⅵ)
104. 7  
Which leaps into the heart.
- Allatee tattaliAAu AAala alafidati (Ⅰ)
- Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). (Ⅱ)
- roaring over the hearts (Ⅲ)
- الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ (Ⅳ)
- The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts: (Ⅵ)
104. 8  
Lo! It closes in as a vault on them
- lnnaha AAalayhim musadatun (Ⅰ)
- Lo! it is closed in on them (Ⅱ)
- covered down upon them, (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- It shall be made into a vault over them, (Ⅵ)
104. 9  
In outstretched columns.
- Fee AAamadin mumaddadatin (Ⅰ)
- In outstretched columns. (Ⅱ)
- in columns outstretched. (Ⅲ)
- فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ (Ⅳ)
- In columns outstretched. (Ⅵ)
