104. 0  
Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅴ)
104. 1  
Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,
- Waylun likulli humazatin lumazatin (Ⅰ)
- Woe to every slanderous scandal-monger and backbiter, (Ⅱ)
- Woe unto every slandering traducer, (Ⅲ)
- Woe unto every backbiter, slanderer, (Ⅳ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ (Ⅴ)
104. 2  
Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,
- Allathee jamaAAa malan waAAaddadahu (Ⅰ)
- Who collects wealth and counts it. (Ⅱ)
- Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it. (Ⅲ)
- who has gathered riches and counted them over (Ⅳ)
- الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ (Ⅴ)
104. 3  
Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!
- Yahsabu anna malahu akhladahu (Ⅰ)
- He thinks that his wealth can immortalize him. (Ⅱ)
- He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. (Ⅲ)
- thinking his riches have made him immortal! (Ⅳ)
- يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ (Ⅴ)
104. 4  
By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces,
- Kalla layunbathanna fee alhutamati (Ⅰ)
- Not so! He shall be hurled into El´Hutamah! (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. (Ⅲ)
- No indeed; he shall be thrust into the Crusher; (Ⅳ)
- كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ (Ⅴ)
104. 5  
And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces?
- Wama adraka ma alhutamatu (Ⅰ)
- Ah, what shall make you understand what El´Hutamah is? (Ⅱ)
- Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is! (Ⅲ)
- and what shall teach thee what is the Crusher; (Ⅳ)
- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ (Ⅴ)
104. 6  
(It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze),
- Naru Allahi almooqadatu (Ⅰ)
- The Fire by Allah kindled; (Ⅱ)
- (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, (Ⅲ)
- The Fire of God kindled (Ⅳ)
- نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ (Ⅴ)
104. 7  
The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts:
- Allatee tattaliAAu AAala alafidati (Ⅰ)
- Which leaps into the heart. (Ⅱ)
- Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). (Ⅲ)
- roaring over the hearts (Ⅳ)
- الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ (Ⅴ)
104. 8  
It shall be made into a vault over them,
- lnnaha AAalayhim musadatun (Ⅰ)
- Lo! It closes in as a vault on them (Ⅱ)
- Lo! it is closed in on them (Ⅲ)
- covered down upon them, (Ⅳ)
- إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ (Ⅴ)
104. 9  
In columns outstretched.
- Fee AAamadin mumaddadatin (Ⅰ)
- In outstretched columns. (Ⅱ)
- In outstretched columns. (Ⅲ)
- in columns outstretched. (Ⅳ)
- فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ (Ⅴ)
