11. 50  
وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُونَ
- Waila AAadin akhahum hoodan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu in antum illa muftaroona (Ⅰ)
- These are some of the stories of the Unseen that We reveal unto you. You did not know them before this, you and your people. So persevere patiently; verily, the sequel is for those who fear (are righteous). (Ⅱ)
- And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah! Ye have no other God save Him. Lo! ye do but invent. (Ⅲ)
- And to Ad their brother Hood; he said, ´O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He; you are but forgers. (Ⅳ)
- To the ´Ad People (We sent) Hud, one of their own brethren. He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. (Your other gods) ye do nothing but invent! (Ⅵ)
11. 51  
يَا قَوْمِ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
- Ya qawmi la asalukum AAalayhi ajran in ajriya illa AAala allathee fataranee afala taAAqiloona (Ⅰ)
- And unto the tribe of A´ad (We sent) their brother Hud. He said, "O my people! Serve Allah; you have no God but Him. You do but invent lies (superstitions, fantasies, self-deception). (Ⅱ)
- O my people! I ask of you no reward for it. Lo! my reward is the concern only of Him Who made me. Have ye then no sense ? (Ⅲ)
- O my people, I do not ask of you a wage for this; my wage falls only upon Him who did originate me; will you not understand? (Ⅳ)
- "O my people! I ask of you no reward for this (Message). My reward is from none but Him who created me: Will ye not then understand? (Ⅵ)
11. 52  
وَيَا قَوْمِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا وَيَزِدْكُمْ قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمْ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوْا مُجْرِمِينَ
- Waya qawmi istaghfiroo rabbakum thumma tooboo ilayhi yursili alssamaa AAalaykum midraran wayazidkum quwwatan ila quwwatikum wala tatawallaw mujrimeena (Ⅰ)
- "O my people! I do not ask you for hire (wages, rewards) in return (for the message); Lo, my hire is only from Him who created me: have you then no sense (or understanding)? (Ⅱ)
- And, O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn unto Him repentant; He will cause the sky to rain abundance on you and will add unto you strength to your strength. Turn not away, guilty! (Ⅲ)
- And, O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord, then repent to Him, and He will loose heaven in torrents upon you, and He will increase you in strength unto your strength; and turn not your backs as sinners.´ (Ⅳ)
- "And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him (in repentance): He will send you the skies pouring abundant rain, and add strength to your strength: so turn ye not back in sin!" (Ⅵ)
11. 53  
قَالُوا يَا هُودُ مَا جِئْتَنَا بِبَيِّنَةٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِي آلِهَتِنَا عَن قَوْلِكَ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
- Qaloo ya hoodu ma jitana bibayyinatin wama nahnu bitarikee alihatina AAan qawlika wama nahnu laka bimumineena (Ⅰ)
- "O my people! Ask pardon of your Lord; then turn to Him in repentance; He will send the skies (rain, spiritual, social and material bounties) down on you in torrents; and He will add strength to your strength: turn not away, guilty." (Ⅱ)
- They said: O Hud! Thou hast brought us no clear proof and we are not going to forsake our gods on thy (mere) saying, and we are not believers in thee. (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Hood, thou hast not brought us a clear sign, and we will not leave our gods for what thou sayest; we do not believe thee. (Ⅳ)
- They said: "O Hud! No Clear (Sign) that hast thou brought us, and we are not the ones to desert our gods on thy word! Nor shall we believe in thee! (Ⅵ)
11. 54  
إِن نَّقُولُ إِلَّا اعْتَرَاكَ بَعْضُ آلِهَتِنَا بِسُوءٍ ۗ قَالَ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُ اللَّهَ وَاشْهَدُوا أَنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ
- In naqoolu illa iAAtaraka baAAdu alihatina bisooin qala innee oshhidu Allaha waishhadoo annee bareeon mimma tushrikoona (Ⅰ)
- They said, "O Hud! You have not come to us with a manifest sign (or clear proof); nor will we leave our gods at your word; nor will we believe in you. (Ⅱ)
- We say naught save that one of our gods hath possessed thee in an evil way. He said: I call Allah to witness, and do ye (too) bear witness, that I am innocent of (all) that ye ascribe as partners (to Allah) (Ⅲ)
- We say nothing, but that one of our gods has smitten thee with some evil.´ He said, ´I call God to witness; and witness you, that I am quit of that you associate (Ⅳ)
- "We say nothing but that (perhaps) some of our gods may have seized thee with imbecility." He said: "I call Allah to witness, and do ye bear witness, that I am free from the sin of ascribing, to Him, (Ⅵ)
11. 55  
مِن دُونِهِ ۖ فَكِيدُونِي جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ لَا تُنظِرُونِ
- Min doonihi fakeedoonee jameeAAan thumma la tunthirooni (Ⅰ)
- We say nothing but that, perhaps, some of our gods have possessed you with madness." Said he, "Verily, I call Allah to witness, and do you bear witness too, that I am free from ascribing to (or associating with) Him, (Ⅱ)
- Beside Him. So (try to) circumvent me, all of you, give me no respite. (Ⅲ)
- apart from Him; so try your guile on me, all together, then you shall give me no respite. (Ⅳ)
- "Other gods as partners! so scheme (your worst) against me, all of you, and give me no respite. (Ⅵ)
11. 56  
إِنِّي تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُم ۚ مَّا مِن دَابَّةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
- Innee tawakkaltu AAala Allahi rabbee warabbikum ma min dabbatin illa huwa akhithun binasiyatiha inna rabbee AAala siratin mustaqeemin (Ⅰ)
- "Other gods as partners. Plot then against me together (as much as you like), and give me no respite. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! I have put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Not an animal but He doth grasp it by the forelock! Lo! my Lord is on a straight path. (Ⅲ)
- Truly, I have put my trust in God, my Lord and your Lord; there is no creature that crawls, but He takes it by the forelock. Surely my Lord is on a straight path. (Ⅳ)
- "I put my trust in Allah, My Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving creature, but He hath grasp of its fore-lock. Verily, it is my Lord that is on a straight Path. (Ⅵ)
11. 57  
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُم مَّا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّي قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُ شَيْئًا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِيظٌ
- Fain tawallaw faqad ablaghtukum ma orsiltu bihi ilaykum wayastakhlifu rabbee qawman ghayrakum wala tadurroonahu shayan inna rabbee AAala kulli shayin hafeethun (Ⅰ)
- Verily, I trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no beast that walks but He grasps it by its forelock (has complete power over it). Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Way! (Ⅱ)
- And if ye turn away, still I have conveyed unto you that wherewith I was sent unto you, and my Lord will set in place of you a folk other than you. Ye cannot injure Him at all. Lo! my Lord is Guardian over all things. (Ⅲ)
- But if you turn your backs, I have delivered to you that I was sent with unto you, and my Lord will make a people other than you successors; you will not hurt Him anything. My Lord is Guardian over everything.´ (Ⅳ)
- "If ye turn away,- I (at least) have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people to succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. For my Lord hath care and watch over all things." (Ⅵ)
11. 58  
وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا هُودًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَنَجَّيْنَاهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ
- Walamma jaa amruna najjayna hoodan waallatheena amanoo maAAahu birahmatin minna wanajjaynahum min AAathabin ghaleethin (Ⅰ)
- "But if you turn your backs, then I have conveyed to you that wherewith I was sent to you; and my Lord will replace you with another people. You cannot harm (frustrate) Him at all; verily, my Lord is Guardian over all things!" (Ⅱ)
- And when Our commandment came to pass We saved Hud and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us; We saved them from a harsh doom. (Ⅲ)
- And when Our command came, We delivered Hood and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us, and delivered them from a harsh chastisement. (Ⅳ)
- So when Our decree issued, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by (special) Grace from Ourselves: We saved them from a severe penalty. (Ⅵ)
11. 59  
وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ ۖ جَحَدُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا رُسُلَهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
- Watilka AAadun jahadoo biayati rabbihim waAAasaw rusulahu waittabaAAoo amra kulli jabbarin AAaneedin (Ⅰ)
- And when Our commandment came We saved Hud, and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; We saved them from a harsh torment. (Ⅱ)
- And such were A'ad. They denied the revelations of their Lord and flouted His messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate. (Ⅲ)
- That was Ad; they denied the signs of their Lord, and rebelled against His Messengers, and followed the command of every froward tyrant. (Ⅳ)
- Such were the ´Ad People: they rejected the Signs of their Lord and Cherisher; disobeyed His messengers; And followed the command of every powerful, obstinate transgressor. (Ⅵ)
11. 60  
وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَٰذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ عَادًا كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ ۗ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّعَادٍ قَوْمِ هُودٍ
- WaotbiAAoo fee hathihi alddunya laAAnatan wayawma alqiyamati ala inna AAadan kafaroo rabbahum ala buAAdan liAAadin qawmi hoodin (Ⅰ)
- Such were (the tribe of) A´ad. They denied the signs of their Lord, and rebelled against His Messengers, and followed the bidding of every headstrong tyrant. (Ⅱ)
- And a curse was made to follow them in the world and on the Day of Resurrection. Lo! A'ad disbelieved in their Lord. A far removal for A'ad, the folk of Hud! (Ⅲ)
- And there was sent following after them in this world a curse, and upon the Day of Resurrection: ´Surely Ad disbelieved in their Lord: so away with Ad, the people of Hood!´ (Ⅳ)
- And they were pursued by a Curse in this life,- and on the Day of Judgment. Ah! Behold! for the ´Ad rejected their Lord and Cherisher! Ah! Behold! removed (from sight) were ´Ad the people of Hud! (Ⅵ)
11. 61  
۞ وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ هُوَ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي قَرِيبٌ مُّجِيبٌ
- Waila thamooda akhahum salihan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu huwa anshaakum mina alardi waistaAAmarakum feeha faistaghfiroohu thumma tooboo ilayhi inna rabbee qareebun mujeebun (Ⅰ)
- They were followed in this world by a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection. Behold! A´ad disbelieved in their Lord! Aye! Removed were A´ad the people of Hud! (Ⅱ)
- And unto (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah, Ye have no other God save Him. He brought you forth from the earth and hath made you husband it. So ask forgiveness of Him and turn unto Him repentant. Lo! my Lord is Nigh, Responsive. (Ⅲ)
- And to Thamood their brother Salih; he said, ´O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He. It is He who produced you from the earth and has given you to live therein; so ask forgiveness of Him, then repent to Him; surely my Lord is nigh, and answers prayer. (Ⅳ)
- To the Thamud People (We sent) Salih, one of their own brethren. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. It is He Who hath produced you from the earth and settled you therein: then ask forgiveness of Him, and turn to Him (in repentance): for my Lord is (always) near, ready to answer." (Ⅵ)
11. 62  
قَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَٰذَا ۖ أَتَنْهَانَا أَن نَّعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍ
- Qaloo ya salihu qad kunta feena marjuwwan qabla hatha atanhana an naAAbuda ma yaAAbudu abaona wainnana lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoona ilayhi mureebun (Ⅰ)
- And unto Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. Said he, "O my people! Serve Allah; you have no God but Him. He it is that produced you from the earth, and made you live therein! So ask pardon of Him; then turn to Him in repentance. Verily, my Lord is Nigh, Responsive!" (Ⅱ)
- They said: O Salih! Thou hast been among us hitherto as that wherein our hope was placed. Dost thou ask us not to worship what our fathers worshipped ? Lo! we verily are in grave doubt concerning that to which thou callest us. (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Salih, thou hast hitherto been a source of hope among us. What, dost thou forbid us to serve that our fathers served? Truly we are in doubt, concerning what thou callest us to, disquieting.´ (Ⅳ)
- They said: "O Salih! thou hast been of us! a centre of our hopes hitherto! dost thou (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped? But we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which thou invitest us." (Ⅵ)
11. 63  
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّي وَآتَانِي مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً فَمَن يَنصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُ ۖ فَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِي غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٍ
- Qala ya qawmi araaytum in kuntu AAala bayyinatin min rabbee waatanee minhu rahmatan faman yansurunee mina Allahi in AAasaytuhu fama tazeedoonanee ghayra takhseerin (Ⅰ)
- They said, "O Salih! You were, before this, amongst us one we hoped in. Do you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshipped? Verily, we are in grave doubt as to that to which you call us." (Ⅱ)
- He said: O my people! Bethink you: if I am (acting) on clear proof from my Lord and there hath come unto me a mercy from Him, who will save me from Allah if I disobey Him ? Ye would add to me naught save perdition. (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´O my people, what think you? If I stand upon a clear sign from my Lord, and He has given me mercy from Him, who shall help me against God if I rebel against Him? You would do nothing for me, except increase my loss. (Ⅳ)
- He said: "O my people! do ye see? if I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord and He hath sent Mercy unto me from Himself,- who then can help me against Allah if I were to disobey Him? What then would ye add to my (portion) but perdition? (Ⅵ)
11. 64  
وَيَا قَوْمِ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ قَرِيبٌ
- Waya qawmi hathihi naqatu Allahi lakum ayatan fatharooha takul fee ardi Allahi wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabun qareebun (Ⅰ)
- He said, "O my people! Bethink you, if I stand upon a manifest sign (clear proof) from my Lord, and there come from Him mercy, who will help me against Allah if I rebel against Him? You will add to me naught but perdition. (Ⅱ)
- O my people! This is the camel of Allah, a token unto you, so suffer her to feed in Allah's earth, and touch her not with harm lest a near torment seize you. (Ⅲ)
- O my people, this is the She-camel of God, to be a sign for you. Leave her that she may eat in God´s earth, and touch her not with evil, lest you´ be seized by a nigh chastisement.´ (Ⅳ)
- "And O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a symbol to you: leave her to feed on Allah´s (free) earth, and inflict no harm on her, or a swift penalty will seize you!" (Ⅵ)
11. 65  
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُوا فِي دَارِكُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٍ
- FaAAaqarooha faqala tamattaAAoo fee darikum thalathata ayyamin thalika waAAdun ghayru makthoobin (Ⅰ)
- "O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a test (symbol, token) for you; leave her, then, to feed in Allah´s earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a near torment seize you." (Ⅱ)
- But they hamstrung her, and then he said: Enjoy life in your dwelling-place three days! This is a threat that will not be belied. (Ⅲ)
- But they hamstrung her; and he said, ´Take your joy in your habitation three days -- that is a promise not to be belied.´ (Ⅳ)
- But they did ham-string her. So he said: "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days: (Then will be your ruin): (Behold) there a promise not to be belied!" (Ⅵ)
11. 66  
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا صَالِحًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَمِنْ خِزْيِ يَوْمِئِذٍ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْقَوِيُّ الْعَزِيزُ
- Falamma jaa amruna najjayna salihan waallatheena amanoo maAAahu birahmatin minna wamin khizyi yawmiithin inna rabbaka huwa alqawiyyu alAAazeezu (Ⅰ)
- But they did hamstring her, and he said, "Enjoy yourselves in your houses for three days; this is the promise that shall not be belied." (Ⅱ)
- So, when Our commandment came to pass, We saved Salih, and those who believed with him, by a mercy from Us, from the ignominy of that day. Lo, thy Lord! He is the Strong, the Mighty. (Ⅲ)
- And when Our command came, We delivered Salih and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us, and from the degradation of that day; thy Lord is the All-strong, the All-mighty. (Ⅳ)
- When Our Decree issued, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by (special) Grace from Ourselves - and from the Ignominy of that day. For thy Lord - He is the Strong One, and able to enforce His Will. (Ⅵ)
11. 67  
وَأَخَذَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دِيَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
- Waakhatha allatheena thalamoo alssayhatu faasbahoo fee diyarihim jathimeena (Ⅰ)
- And when Our commandment came to pass, We saved Salih, and those who believed with him, by Our mercy, from the ignominy of that day. Verily, your Lord He is Powerful and Mighty. (Ⅱ)
- And the (awful) Cry overtook those who did wrong, so that morning found them prostrate in their dwellings, (Ⅲ)
- And the evildoers were seized by the Cry, and morning found them in their habitations fallen prostrate (Ⅳ)
- The (mighty) Blast overtook the wrong-doers, and they lay prostrate in their homes before the morning,- (Ⅵ)
11. 68  
كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ ثَمُودَ كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ ۗ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّثَمُودَ
- Kaan lam yaghnaw feeha ala inna thamooda kafaroo rabbahum ala buAAdan lithamooda (Ⅰ)
- And a mighty noise caught those who had done wrong; and on the morrow they were lying corpses in their houses, (Ⅱ)
- As though they had not dwelt there. Lo! Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. A far removal for Thamud! (Ⅲ)
- as if they never dwelt there: ´Surely Thamood disbelieved in their Lord, so away with Thamood!´ (Ⅳ)
- As if they had never dwelt and flourished there. Ah! Behold! for the Thamud rejected their Lord and Cherisher! Ah! Behold! removed (from sight) were the Thamud! (Ⅵ)
11. 69  
وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ بِالْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوا سَلَامًا ۖ قَالَ سَلَامٌ ۖ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَن جَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيذٍ
- Walaqad jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo salaman qala salamun fama labitha an jaa biAAijlin haneethin (Ⅰ)
- As though they had never dwelt therein. Behold, Thamud indeed disbelieved in their Lord. Aye! Removed were the Thamud! (Ⅱ)
- And Our messengers cam unto Abraham with good news. They said: Peace! He answered: Peace! and delayed not to bring a roasted calf. (Ⅲ)
- Our messengers came to Abraham with the good tidings; they said, ´Peace!´ ´Peace,´ he said; and presently he brought a roasted calf. (Ⅳ)
- There came Our messengers to Abraham with glad tidings. They said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" and hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf. (Ⅵ)
11. 70  
فَلَمَّا رَأَىٰ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۚ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ
- Falamma raa aydiyahum la tasilu ilayhi nakirahum waawjasa minhum kheefatan qaloo la takhaf inna orsilna ila qawmi lootin (Ⅰ)
- Our messengers came unto Abraham with Glad Tidings. They said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace be it!" and did not delay to bring the roasted calf. (Ⅱ)
- And when he saw their hands reached not to it, he mistrusted them and conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! Lo! we are sent unto the folk of Lot. (Ⅲ)
- And when he saw their hands not reaching towards it, he was suspicious of them and conceived a fear of them. They said, ´Fear not; we have been sent to the people of Lot.´ (Ⅳ)
- But when he saw their hands went not towards the (meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not: We have been sent against the people of Lut." (Ⅵ)
11. 71  
وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَائِمَةٌ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا بِإِسْحَاقَ وَمِن وَرَاءِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْقُوبَ
- Waimraatuhu qaimatun fadahikat fabashsharnaha biishaqa wamin warai ishaqa yaAAqooba (Ⅰ)
- But when he saw that their hands reached not to it, he felt mistrust, and conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not. Verily, we are sent unto the people of Lot." (Ⅱ)
- And his wife, standing by laughed when We gave her good tidings (of the birth) of Isaac, and, after Isaac, of Jacob. (Ⅲ)
- And his wife was standing by; she laughed, therefore We gave her the glad tidings of Isaac, and, after Isaac, of Jacob. (Ⅳ)
- And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed: But we gave her glad tidings of Isaac, and after him, of Jacob. (Ⅵ)
11. 72  
قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتَىٰ أَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا عَجُوزٌ وَهَٰذَا بَعْلِي شَيْخًا ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ
- Qalat ya waylata aalidu waana AAajoozun wahatha baAAlee shaykhan inna hatha lashayon AAajeebun (Ⅰ)
- And his wife was standing by, laughing; and We gave her the glad tidings of Isaac, and of Jacob after Isaac. (Ⅱ)
- She said: Oh woe is me! Shall I bear a child when I am an old woman, and this my husband is an old man ? Lo! this is a strange thing! (Ⅲ)
- She said, ´Woe is me! Shall I bear, being an old woman, and this my husband is an old man? This assuredly is a strange thing.´ (Ⅳ)
- She said: "Alas for me! shall I bear a child, seeing I am an old woman, and my husband here is an old man? That would indeed be a wonderful thing!" (Ⅵ)
11. 73  
قَالُوا أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ ۖ رَحْمَتُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ ۚ إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَّجِيدٌ
- Qaloo ataAAjabeena min amri Allahi rahmatu Allahi wabarakatuhu AAalaykum ahla albayti innahu hameedun majeedun (Ⅰ)
- Said she, "Alas for me! Shall I bear a son when I am an old woman, and this husband of mine an old man? Verily, this is a strange thing!" (Ⅱ)
- They said: Wonderest thou at the commandment of Allah ? The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house! Lo! He is Owner of Praise, Owner of Glory! (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´What, dost thou marvel at God´s command? The mercy of God and His blessings be upon you, O people of the House! Surely He is All-laudable, All-glorious.´ (Ⅳ)
- They said: "Dost thou wonder at Allah´s decree? The grace of Allah and His blessings on you, o ye people of the house! for He is indeed worthy of all praise, full of all glory!" (Ⅵ)
11. 74  
فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الرَّوْعُ وَجَاءَتْهُ الْبُشْرَىٰ يُجَادِلُنَا فِي قَوْمِ لُوطٍ
- Falamma thahaba AAan ibraheema alrrawAAu wajaathu albushra yujadiluna fee qawmi lootin (Ⅰ)
- They said, "Do you wonder at the commandment of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His blessings upon you, O you people of the house! Verily, He is worthy of all Praise, worthy of all Glory." (Ⅱ)
- And when the awe departed from Abraham, and the glad news reached him, he pleaded with Us on behalf of the folk of Lot. (Ⅲ)
- So, when the awe departed from Abraham and the good tidings came to him, he was disputing with Us concerning the people of Lot; (Ⅳ)
- When fear had passed from (the mind of) Abraham and the glad tidings had reached him, he began to plead with us for Lut´s people. (Ⅵ)
11. 75  
إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّاهٌ مُّنِيبٌ
- Inna ibraheema lahaleemun awwahun muneebun (Ⅰ)
- And when his terror left Abraham, and the glad tidings reached him, he pleaded with Us on behalf of the people of Lot. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! Abraham was mild, imploring, penitent. (Ⅲ)
- Abraham was clement, compassionate, penitent. (Ⅳ)
- For Abraham was, without doubt, forbearing (of faults), compassionate, and given to look to Allah. (Ⅵ)
11. 76  
يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَا ۖ إِنَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَإِنَّهُمْ آتِيهِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٍ
- Ya ibraheemu aAArid AAan hatha innahu qad jaa amru rabbika wainnahum ateehim AAathabun ghayru mardoodin (Ⅰ)
- Verily, Abraham was relenting (tolerant), compassionate, and Allah-relying, (Ⅱ)
- (It was said) O Abraham! Forsake this! Lo! thy Lord's commandment hath gone forth, and lo! there cometh unto them a doom which cannot be repelled. (Ⅲ)
- ´O Abraham, turn away from this; thy Lord´s command has surely come, and there is coming upon them a chastisement not to be turned back.´ (Ⅳ)
- O Abraham! Seek not this. The decree of thy Lord hath gone forth: for them there cometh a penalty that cannot be turned back! (Ⅵ)
11. 77  
وَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًا سِيءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٌ
- Walamma jaat rusuluna lootan seea bihim wadaqa bihim tharAAan waqala hatha yawmun AAaseebun (Ⅰ)
- (It was said,) "O Abraham! Forsake this (pleading). Verily, the commandment of your Lord has gone forth, and verily, there comes to them a torment that cannot be repelled." (Ⅱ)
- And when Our messengers came unto Lot, he was distressed and knew not how to protect them. He said: This is a distressful day. (Ⅲ)
- And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was troubled on their account and distressed for them, and he said, ´This is a fierce day.´ (Ⅳ)
- When Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and felt himself powerless (to protect) them. He said: "This is a distressful day." (Ⅵ)
11. 78  
وَجَاءَهُ قَوْمُهُ يُهْرَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي هُنَّ أَطْهَرُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ فِي ضَيْفِي ۖ أَلَيْسَ مِنكُمْ رَجُلٌ رَّشِيدٌ
- Wajaahu qawmuhu yuhraAAoona ilayhi wamin qablu kanoo yaAAmaloona alssayyiati qala ya qawmi haolai banatee hunna atharu lakum faittaqoo Allaha wala tukhzooni fee dayfee alaysa minkum rajulun rasheedun (Ⅰ)
- And when Our messengers (angels) came to Lot, he was grieved for them (the people), and his arm was powerless to aid them. He said, "This is a distressful day!" (Ⅱ)
- And his people came unto him, running towards him - and before then they used to commit abominations - He said: O my people! Here are my daughters! They are purer for you. Beware of Allah, and degrade me not in (the person of) my guests. Is there not among you any upright man ? (Ⅲ)
- And his people came to him, running towards him; and erstwhile they had been doing evil deeds. He said, ´O my people, these are my daughters; they are cleaner for you. So fear God, and do not degrade me in my guests. What, is there not one man among you of a right mind?´ (Ⅳ)
- And his people came rushing towards him, and they had been long in the habit of practising abominations. He said: "O my people! Here are my daughters: they are purer for you (if ye marry)! Now fear Allah, and cover me not with shame about my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?" (Ⅵ)
11. 79  
قَالُوا لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا لَنَا فِي بَنَاتِكَ مِنْ حَقٍّ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَعْلَمُ مَا نُرِيدُ
- Qaloo laqad AAalimta ma lana fee banatika min haqqin wainnaka lataAAlamu ma nureedu (Ⅰ)
- And his people came unto him, rushing, for they were long used to committing abomination (homosexuality). He said, "O my people! Here are my daughters (or young women), they are purer for you. Fear Allah, and do not disgrace me through my guests. Is there not among you one right-minded man?" (Ⅱ)
- They said: Well thou knowest that we have no right to thy daughters, and well thou knowest what we want. (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Thou knowest we have no right to thy daughters, and thou well knowest what we desire.´ (Ⅳ)
- They said: "Well dost thou know we have no need of thy daughters: indeed thou knowest quite well what we want!" (Ⅵ)
11. 80  
قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِي بِكُمْ قُوَّةً أَوْ آوِي إِلَىٰ رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ
- Qala law anna lee bikum quwwatan aw awee ila ruknin shadeedin (Ⅰ)
- They said, "You know that we have no need of your daughters; verily, you well know what we want!" (Ⅱ)
- He said: Would that I had strength to resist you or had some strong support (among you)! (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´O would that I had power against you, or might take refuge in a strong pillar!´ (Ⅳ)
- He said: "Would that I had power to suppress you or that I could betake myself to some powerful support." (Ⅵ)
11. 81  
قَالُوا يَا لُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَن يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَكَ ۖ إِنَّهُ مُصِيبُهَا مَا أَصَابَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ الصُّبْحُ ۚ أَلَيْسَ الصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيبٍ
- Qaloo ya lootu inna rusulu rabbika lan yasiloo ilayka faasri biahlika biqitAAin mina allayli wala yaltafit minkum ahadun illa imraataka innahu museebuha ma asabahum inna mawAAidahumu alssubhu alaysa alssubhu biqareebin (Ⅰ)
- He said, "Would that I had strength to resist you or could betake myself of some powerful support!" (Ⅱ)
- (The messengers) said: O Lot! Lo! we are messengers of thy Lord; they shall not reach thee. So travel with thy people in a part of the night, and let not one of you turn round - (all) save thy wife. Lo! that which smiteth them will smite her (also). Lo! their tryst is (for) the morning. Is not the morning nigh ? (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Lot, we are messengers of thy Lord. They shall not reach thee; so set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and let not any one of you turn round, excepting thy wife; surely she shall be smitten by that which smites them. Their promised time is the morning; is the morning not nigh?´ (Ⅳ)
- (The Messengers) said: "O Lut! We are Messengers from thy Lord! By no means shall they reach thee! now travel with thy family while yet a part of the night remains, and let not any of you look back: but thy wife (will remain behind): To her will happen what happens to the people. Morning is their time appointed: Is not the morning nigh?" (Ⅵ)
11. 82  
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ مَّنضُودٍ
- Falamma jaa amruna jaAAalna AAaliyaha safilaha waamtarna AAalayha hijaratan min sijjeelin mandoodin (Ⅰ)
- (The messengers) said, "O Lot! Verily, we are the messengers of your Lord. They shall certainly not reach you; now travel with your people in the darkness of the night, and let none of you look round. But your wife (will do so), and there shall befall her what befalls them. Verily, their appointment is for the morning! And is not the morning nigh?" (Ⅱ)
- So when Our commandment came to pass We overthrew (that township) and rained upon it stones of clay, one after another, (Ⅲ)
- So when Our command came, We turned it uppermost nethermost, and rained on it stones of baked clay, one on another, (Ⅳ)
- When Our Decree issued, We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay, spread, layer on layer,- (Ⅵ)
11. 83  
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ بِبَعِيدٍ
- Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika wama hiya mina alththalimeena bibaAAeedin (Ⅰ)
- And when Our commandment came, We overthrew (their town), making their high parts into low parts (turned them upside down). And We rained down upon them stones and baked clay one after another, (Ⅱ)
- Marked with fire in the providence of thy Lord (for the destruction of the wicked). And they are never far from the wrong-doers. (Ⅲ)
- marked with thy Lord, and never far from the evildoers. (Ⅳ)
- Marked as from thy Lord: Nor are they ever far from those who do wrong! (Ⅵ)
11. 84  
۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ وَلَا تَنقُصُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ ۚ إِنِّي أَرَاكُم بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ
- Waila madyana akhahum shuAAayban qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu wala tanqusoo almikyala waalmeezana innee arakum bikhayrin wainnee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin muheetin (Ⅰ)
- Marked with fire from your Lord, and these are never far from the wrongdoers! (Ⅱ)
- And unto Midian (We sent) their brother Shu'eyb. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other God save Him! And give not short measure and short weight. Lo! I see you well-to-do, and lo! I fear for you the doom of a besetting Day. (Ⅲ)
- And to Midian their brother Shuaib; he said, ´O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He. And diminish not the measure and the balance. I see you are prospering; and I fear for you the chastisement of an encompassing day. (Ⅳ)
- To the Madyan People (We sent) Shu´aib, one of their own brethren: he said: "O my people! worship Allah: Ye have no other god but Him. And give not short measure or weight: I see you in prosperity, but I fear for you the penalty of a day that will compass (you) all round. (Ⅵ)
11. 85  
وَيَا قَوْمِ أَوْفُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
- Waya qawmi awfoo almikyala waalmeezana bialqisti wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena (Ⅰ)
- And unto Midian (we sent) their brother Shu´eyb. He said, "O my people! Serve Allah; you have no God but Him, and give not short measure and weight. Verily, I see you well off; but, verily, I fear for you the torments of an encompassing Day. (Ⅱ)
- O my people! Give full measure and full weight in justice, and wrong not people in respect of their goods. And do not evil in the earth, causing corruption. (Ⅲ)
- O my people, fill up the measure and the balance justly, and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the land, working corruption. (Ⅳ)
- "And O my people! give just measure and weight, nor withhold from the people the things that are their due: commit not evil in the land with intent to do mischief. (Ⅵ)
11. 86  
بَقِيَّتُ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ۚ وَمَا أَنَا عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ
- Baqiyyatu Allahi khayrun lakum in kuntum mumineena wama ana AAalaykum bihafeethin (Ⅰ)
- "O my people! Give measure and weight fairly, and defraud not men of their due; and wreak not wrong in the earth, corrupting it. (Ⅱ)
- That which Allah leaveth with you is better for you if ye are believers; and I am not a keeper over you. (Ⅲ)
- God´s remainder is better for you, if you are believers. And I am not a guardian over you. (Ⅳ)
- "That which is left you by Allah is best for you, if ye (but) believed! but I am not set over you to keep watch!" (Ⅵ)
11. 87  
قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ أَصَلَاتُكَ تَأْمُرُكَ أَن نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا أَوْ أَن نَّفْعَلَ فِي أَمْوَالِنَا مَا نَشَاءُ ۖ إِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ الْحَلِيمُ الرَّشِيدُ
- Qaloo ya shuAAaybu asalatuka tamuruka an natruka ma yaAAbudu abaona aw an nafAAala fee amwalina ma nashao innaka laanta alhaleemu alrrasheedu (Ⅰ)
- "That which Allah leaves for you is better for you if you be believers. But I am not a guardian (or keeper) over you." (Ⅱ)
- They said: O Shu'eyb! Doth thy way of prayer command thee that we should forsake that which our fathers (used to) worship, or that we (should leave off) doing what we will with our own property. Lo! thou art the mild, the guide to right behaviour. (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Shuaib, does thy prayer command thee that we should leave that our fathers served, or to do as we will with our goods? Thou art the clement one, the right-minded.´ (Ⅳ)
- They said: "O Shu´aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer command thee that we leave off the worship which our fathers practised, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? truly, thou art the one that forbeareth with faults and is right-minded!" (Ⅵ)
11. 88  
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّي وَرَزَقَنِي مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَىٰ مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ ۚ إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ ۚ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ
- Qala ya qawmi araaytum in kuntu AAala bayyinatin min rabbee warazaqanee minhu rizqan hasanan wama oreedu an okhalifakum ila ma anhakum AAanhu in oreedu illa alislaha ma istataAAtu wama tawfeeqee illa biAllahi AAalayhi tawakkaltu wailayhi oneebu (Ⅰ)
- They said, "O Shu´eyb! Do your prayers bid you that we should forsake what our fathers served, or that we should not do as we please with our own property? You are, forsooth, the clement and straight-forward one (or simpleton)!" (Ⅱ)
- He said: O my people! Bethink you: if I am (acting) on a clear proof from my Lord and He sustaineth me with fair sustenance from Him (how can I concede aught to you) ? I desire not to do behind your backs that which I ask you not to do. I desire naught save reform so far as I am able. My welfare is only in Allah. In Him I trust and unto Him I turn (repentant). (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´O my people, what think you? If I stand upon a clear sign from my Lord, and He has provided me with fair provision from Him -- and I desire not to come behind you, betaking me to that I forbid you; I desire only to set things right, so far as I am able. My succour is only with God; in Him I have put my trust, and to Him I turn, penitent. (Ⅳ)
- He said: "O my people! see ye whether I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord, and He hath given me sustenance (pure and) good as from Himself? I wish not, in opposition to you, to do that which I forbid you to do. I only desire (your) betterment to the best of my power; and my success (in my task) can only come from Allah. In Him I trust, and unto Him I look. (Ⅵ)
11. 89  
وَيَا قَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِي أَن يُصِيبَكُم مِّثْلُ مَا أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَالِحٍ ۚ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٍ
- Waya qawmi la yajrimannakum shiqaqee an yuseebakum mithlu ma asaba qawma noohin aw qawma hoodin aw qawma salihin wama qawmu lootin minkum bibaAAeedin (Ⅰ)
- He said, "O my people! Bethink you, if I stand upon a manifest sign (clear proof) from my Lord, and He provides me from Himself with a goodly provision, how can I concede aught to you. I desire not to do behind your backs that which I forbid you. I desire naught but to reform you so far as I am able. Nor comes my grace through any one but Allah. On Him do I rely, and unto Him I turn. (Ⅱ)
- And, O my people! Let not the schism with me cause you to sin so that there befall you that which befell the folk of Noah and the folk of Hud, and the folk of Salih; and the folk of Lot are not far off from you. (Ⅲ)
- O my people, let not the breach with me move you, so that there smite you the like of what smote the people of Noah, or the people of Hood, or the people of Salih; and the people of Lot are not far away from you. (Ⅳ)
- "And O my people! let not my dissent (from you) cause you to sin, lest ye suffer a fate similar to that of the people of Noah or of Hud or of Salih, nor are the people of Lut far off from you! (Ⅵ)
11. 90  
وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ
- Waistaghfiroo rabbakum thumma tooboo ilayhi inna rabbee raheemun wadoodun (Ⅰ)
- "O my people! Let not a breach with me cause you to so sin that there befall you the like of that which befell the people of Noah, or the people of Hud, or the people of Salih, nor are the people of Lot far off from you! (Ⅱ)
- Ask pardon of your Lord and then turn unto Him (repentant). Lo! my Lord is Merciful, Loving. (Ⅲ)
- And ask forgiveness of your Lord, then repent to Him; surely my Lord is All-compassionate, All-loving.´ (Ⅳ)
- "But ask forgiveness of your Lord, and turn unto Him (in repentance): For my Lord is indeed full of mercy and loving-kindness." (Ⅵ)
11. 91  
قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ مَا نَفْقَهُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَقُولُ وَإِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِينَا ضَعِيفًا ۖ وَلَوْلَا رَهْطُكَ لَرَجَمْنَاكَ ۖ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْنَا بِعَزِيزٍ
- Qaloo ya shuAAaybu ma nafqahu katheeran mimma taqoolu wainna lanaraka feena daAAeefan walawla rahtuka larajamnaka wama anta AAalayna biAAazeezin (Ⅰ)
- "So ask pardon from your Lord, then turn to Him repentant; verily, my Lord is Merciful, Loving!" (Ⅱ)
- They said: O Shu'eyb! We understand not much of that thou tellest, and lo! we do behold thee weak among us. But for thy family, we should have stoned thee, for thou art not strong against us. (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Shuaib, we do not understand much of what thou sayest. Truly we see thee weak among us; but for thy tribe we would have stoned thee; for thou art not strong against us. (Ⅳ)
- They said: "O Shu´aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!" (Ⅵ)
11. 92  
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَهْطِي أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ وَرَاءَكُمْ ظِهْرِيًّا ۖ إِنَّ رَبِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
- Qala ya qawmi arahtee aAAazzu AAalaykum mina Allahi waittakhathtumoohu waraakum thihriyyan inna rabbee bima taAAmaloona muheetun (Ⅰ)
- They said, "O Shu´eyb! We do not understand much of what you say, and we see that you are weak (powerless) amongst us; and were it not for your family we would stone you, nor could you have power over us." (Ⅱ)
- He said: O my people! Is my family more to be honoured by you than Allah ? and ye put Him behind you, neglected! Lo! my Lord surroundeth what ye do. (Ⅲ)
- He said, ´O my people, is my tribe stronger against you than God? And Him -- have you taken Him as something to be thrust behind you? My Lord encompasses the things you do. (Ⅳ)
- He said: "O my people! is then my family of more consideration with you than Allah? For ye cast Him away behind your backs (with contempt). But verily my Lord encompasseth on all sides all that ye do! (Ⅵ)
11. 93  
وَيَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ ۖ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَمَنْ هُوَ كَاذِبٌ ۖ وَارْتَقِبُوا إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٌ
- Waya qawmi iAAmaloo AAala makanatikum innee AAamilun sawfa taAAlamoona man yateehi AAathabun yukhzeehi waman huwa kathibun wairtaqiboo inne maAAakum raqeebun (Ⅰ)
- He said, "O my people! Are my family more esteemed by you than Allah? Or have you taken Him as something to cast behind your backs? Verily, my Lord, surrounds all you do. (Ⅱ)
- And, O my people! Act according to your power, lo! I (too) am acting. Ye will soon know on whom there cometh a doom that will abase him, and who it is that lieth. And watch! Lo! I am a watcher with you. (Ⅲ)
- O my people, act according to your station; I am acting; and certainly you will know to whom will come the chastisement degrading him, and who is a liar. And be upon the watch; I shall be with you, watching.´ (Ⅳ)
- "And O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): Soon will ye know who it is on whom descends the penalty of ignominy; and who is a liar! and watch ye! for I too am watching with you!" (Ⅵ)
11. 94  
وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا شُعَيْبًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَأَخَذَتِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دِيَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
- Walamma jaa amruna najjayna shuAAayban waallatheena amanoo maAAahu birahmatin minna waakhathati allatheena thalamoo alssayhatu faasbahoo fee diyarihim jathimeena (Ⅰ)
- "O my people! Act according to your power; verily, I too will act, and you soon will know on whom comes a doom that will abase them, and him who is a liar. Watch then; verily, I am watching with you." (Ⅱ)
- And when Our commandment came to pass We saved Shu'eyb and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us; and the (Awful) Cry seized those who did injustice, and morning found them prostrate in their dwellings, (Ⅲ)
- And when Our command came, We delivered Shuaib and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us, and the evildoers were seized by the Cry, and morning found them in their habitations fallen prostrate (Ⅳ)
- When Our decree issued, We saved Shu´aib and those who believed with him, by (special) mercy from Ourselves: But the (mighty) blast did seize the wrong-doers, and they lay prostrate in their homes by the morning,- (Ⅵ)
11. 95  
كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۗ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِّمَدْيَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُودُ
- Kaan lam yaghnaw feeha ala buAAdan limadyana kama baAAidat thamoodu (Ⅰ)
- And when Our commandment came, We saved Shu´eyb, and those who believed with him, by Our Mercy; and the great noise seized those who had done wrong, and on the morrow they were found prostrate in their houses (Ⅱ)
- As though they had not dwelt there. A far removal for Midian, even as Thamud had been removed afar! (Ⅲ)
- as if they had never dwelt there: ´So away with Midian, even as Thamood was done away!´ (Ⅳ)
- As if they had never dwelt and flourished there! Ah! Behold! How the Madyan were removed (from sight) as were removed the Thamud! (Ⅵ)
11. 96  
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا وَسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
- Walaqad arsalna moosa biayatina wasultanin mubeenin (Ⅰ)
- As though they had not dwelt therein. Behold! Removed was Midian! As was removed Thamud!" (Ⅱ)
- And verily We sent Moses with Our revelations and a clear warrant (Ⅲ)
- And We sent Moses with Our signs, and a manifest authority, (Ⅳ)
- And we sent Moses, with Our Clear (Signs) and an authority manifest, (Ⅵ)
11. 97  
إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۖ وَمَا أَمْرُ فِرْعَوْنَ بِرَشِيدٍ
- Ila firAAawna wamalaihi faittabaAAoo amra firAAawna wama amru firAAawna birasheedin (Ⅰ)
- And We sent Moses with our signs (revelations) and with obvious (clear) power (Ⅱ)
- Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they did follow the command of Pharaoh, and the command of Pharaoh was no right guide. (Ⅲ)
- to Pharaoh and his Council; but they followed Pharaoh´s command, and Pharaoh´s command was not right-minded. (Ⅳ)
- Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs: but they followed the command of Pharaoh and the command of Pharaoh was no right (guide). (Ⅵ)
11. 98  
يَقْدُمُ قَوْمَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَأَوْرَدَهُمُ النَّارَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْوِرْدُ الْمَوْرُودُ
- Yaqdumu qawmahu yawma alqiyamati faawradahumu alnnara wabisa alwirdu almawroodu (Ⅰ)
- Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they followed the command of Pharaoh, and the command of Pharaoh was no right (or true, straight) guidance. (Ⅱ)
- He will go before his people on the Day of Resurrection and will lead them to the Fire for watering-place. Ah, hapless is the watering-place (whither they are) led. (Ⅲ)
- He shall go before his people on the Day of Resurrection, and will have led them down to the Fire-evil the watering-place to be led down to! (Ⅳ)
- He will go before his people on the Day of Judgment, and lead them into the Fire (as cattle are led to water): But woeful indeed will be the place to which they are led! (Ⅵ)
11. 99  
وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَٰذِهِ لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ بِئْسَ الرِّفْدُ الْمَرْفُودُ
- WaotbiAAoo fee hathihi laAAnatan wayawma alqiyamati bisa alrrifdu almarfoodu (Ⅰ)
- He shall approach his people on the Day of Resurrection, and take them to the Fire (as cattle are led to the watering-place) - ah, a woeful watering-place is that wither they are led! (Ⅱ)
- A curse is made to follow them in the world and on the Day of Resurrection. Hapless is the gift (that will be) given (them). (Ⅲ)
- And there was sent following after them in this world a curse, and upon the Day of Resurrection -- evil the offering to be offered! (Ⅳ)
- And they are followed by a curse in this (life) and on the Day of Judgment: and woeful is the gift which shall be given (unto them)! (Ⅵ)
