87. 0  
The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
87. 1  
Glorify the name of your Guardian Lord most High,
- Sabbihi isma rabbika alaAAla (Ⅰ)
- Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High, (Ⅱ)
- Magnify the Name of thy Lord the Most High (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى (Ⅳ)
- Glorify the name of thy Guardian-Lord Most High, (Ⅵ)
87. 2  
Who created and makes order and proportion,
- Allathee khalaqa fasawwa (Ⅰ)
- Who createth, then disposeth; (Ⅱ)
- who created and shaped, (Ⅲ)
- الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Who hath created, and further, given order and proportion; (Ⅵ)
87. 3  
Who ordains Laws and Guides,
- Waallathee qaddara fahada (Ⅰ)
- Who measureth, then guideth; (Ⅱ)
- who determined and guided, (Ⅲ)
- وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Who hath ordained laws. And granted guidance; (Ⅵ)
87. 4  
Who brings forth the pasture,
- Waallathee akhraja almarAAa (Ⅰ)
- Who bringeth forth the pasturage, (Ⅱ)
- who brought forth the pasturage (Ⅲ)
- وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And Who bringeth out the (green and luscious) pasture, (Ⅵ)
87. 5  
Then turns it to dusky stubble!
- FajaAAalahu ghuthaan ahwa (Ⅰ)
- Then turneth it to russet stubble. (Ⅱ)
- then made it a blackening wrack. (Ⅲ)
- فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble. (Ⅵ)
87. 6  
We will teach you by degrees to declare (or recite), and you shall not forget,
- Sanuqrioka fala tansa (Ⅰ)
- We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget (Ⅱ)
- We shall make thee recite, to forget not (Ⅲ)
- سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- By degrees shall We teach thee to declare (the Message), so thou shalt not forget, (Ⅵ)
87. 7  
Save what Allah wills. Verily, Lo! He knows the open and the hidden;
- Illa ma shaa Allahu innahu yaAAlamu aljahra wama yakhfa (Ⅰ)
- Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden; (Ⅱ)
- save what God wills; surely He knows what is spoken aloud and what is hidden. (Ⅲ)
- إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Except as Allah wills: For He knoweth what is manifest and what is hidden. (Ⅵ)
87. 8  
And We will ease your way into the simple (path);
- Wanuyassiruka lilyusra (Ⅰ)
- And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease. (Ⅱ)
- We shall ease thee unto the Easing. (Ⅲ)
- وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path). (Ⅵ)
87. 9  
Therefore, remind men, for, verily, the reminder is useful.
- Fathakkir in nafaAAati alththikra (Ⅰ)
- Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder. (Ⅱ)
- Therefore remind, if the Reminder profits, (Ⅲ)
- فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Therefore give admonition in case the admonition profits (the hearer). (Ⅵ)
87. 10  
But he who fears will be mindful;
- Sayaththakkaru man yakhsha (Ⅰ)
- He will heed who feareth, (Ⅱ)
- and he who fears shall remember, (Ⅲ)
- سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- The admonition will be received by those who fear (Allah): (Ⅵ)
87. 11  
And the wretch will avoid it;
- Wayatajannabuha alashqa (Ⅰ)
- But the most hapless will flout it, (Ⅱ)
- but the most wretched shall flout it, (Ⅲ)
- وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى (Ⅳ)
- But it will be avoided by those most unfortunate ones, (Ⅵ)
87. 12  
He will broil in the great Fire,
- Allathee yasla alnnara alkubra (Ⅰ)
- He who will be flung to the great Fire (Ⅱ)
- even he who shall roast in the Great Fire, (Ⅲ)
- الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Who will enter the Great Fire, (Ⅵ)
87. 13  
Wherein he shall neither die nor live!
- Thumma la yamootu feeha wala yahya (Ⅰ)
- Wherein he will neither die nor live. (Ⅱ)
- then he shall neither die therein, nor live. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- In which they will then neither die nor live. (Ⅵ)
87. 14  
He is successful who grows,
- Qad aflaha man tazakka (Ⅰ)
- He is successful who groweth, (Ⅱ)
- Prosperous is he who has cleansed himself, (Ⅲ)
- قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- But those will prosper who purify themselves, (Ⅵ)
87. 15  
And remembers the name of his Lord and prays!
- Wathakara isma rabbihi fasalla (Ⅰ)
- And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth, (Ⅱ)
- and mentions the Name of his Lord, and prays. (Ⅲ)
- وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And glorify the name of their Guardian-Lord, and (lift their hearts) in prayer. (Ⅵ)
87. 16  
Nay! But you prefer the life of this world,
- Bal tuthiroona alhayata alddunya (Ⅰ)
- But ye prefer the life of the world (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but you prefer the present life; (Ⅲ)
- بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا (Ⅳ)
- Day (behold), ye prefer the life of this world; (Ⅵ)
87. 17  
Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
- Waalakhiratu khayrun waabqa (Ⅰ)
- Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting. (Ⅱ)
- and the world to come is better, and more enduring. (Ⅲ)
- وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- But the Hereafter is better and more enduring. (Ⅵ)
87. 18  
Verily, this was in the former books,
- Inna hatha lafee alssuhufi aloola (Ⅰ)
- Lo! This is in the former scrolls. (Ⅱ)
- Surely this is in the ancient scrolls, (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation),- (Ⅵ)
87. 19  
The books of Abraham and Moses.
- Suhufi ibraheema wamoosa (Ⅰ)
- The Books of Abraham and Moses. (Ⅱ)
- the scrolls of Abraham and Moses. (Ⅲ)
- صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- The Books of Abraham and Moses. (Ⅵ)
