98. 0  
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
98. 1  
Those who disbelieve among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters could not have left off (erring) till the clear proof came unto them,
- Lam yakuni allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi waalmushrikeena munfakkeena hatta tatiyahumu albayyinatu (Ⅰ)
- Those of the People of the Book and the idolaters who disbelieve did not fall away until there came to them the Manifest Sign - (Ⅱ)
- The unbelievers of the People of the Book and the idolaters would never leave off; till the Clear Sign came to them, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ (Ⅳ)
- Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence,- (Ⅵ)
98. 2  
A messenger from Allah, reading purified pages
- Rasoolun mina Allahi yatloo suhufan mutahharatan (Ⅰ)
- A Messenger from Allah reading pure pages (Ⅱ)
- a Messenger from God, reciting pages purified, (Ⅲ)
- رَسُولٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ يَتْلُو صُحُفًا مُّطَهَّرَةً (Ⅳ)
- An messenger from Allah, rehearsing scriptures kept pure and holy: (Ⅵ)
98. 3  
Containing correct scriptures.
- Feeha kutubun qayyimatun (Ⅰ)
- Wherein are right scriptures: (Ⅱ)
- therein true Books. (Ⅲ)
- فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Wherein are laws (or decrees) right and straight. (Ⅵ)
98. 4  
Nor were the People of the Scripture divided until after the clear proof came unto them.
- Wama tafarraqa allatheena ootoo alkitaba illa min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu (Ⅰ)
- Nor did those who were given the Book divide into sects until after there came to them the Manifest Sign. (Ⅱ)
- And they scattered not, those that were given the Book, excepting after the Clear Sign came to them. (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ (Ⅳ)
- Nor did the People of the Book make schisms, until after there came to them Clear Evidence. (Ⅵ)
98. 5  
And they are ordered naught else than to serve Allah, keeping religion pure for Him, as men by nature upright, and to establish worship and to pay the poor-due. That is true religion.
- Wama omiroo illa liyaAAbudoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena hunafaa wayuqeemoo alssalata wayutoo alzzakata wathalika deenu alqayyimati (Ⅰ)
- But they were bidden nothing but to worship Allah, being sincere in religion unto Him as ´Hanifs´, and to be steadfast in prayer, and to give alms: for that is the true religion. (Ⅱ)
- They were commanded only to serve God, making the religion His sincerely, men of pure faith, and to perform the prayer, and pay the alms -- that is the religion of the True. (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ (Ⅳ)
- And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight. (Ⅵ)
98. 6  
Lo! those who disbelieve, among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters, will abide in fire of hell. They are the worst of created beings.
- Inna allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi waalmushrikeena fee nari jahannama khalideena feeha olaika hum sharru albariyyati (Ⅰ)
- Verily, those who disbelieve amongst the people of the Book and the idolaters shall be in the fire of hell, to dwell therein for aye; they are wretched creatures! (Ⅱ)
- The unbelievers of the People of the Book and the idolaters shall be in the Fire of Gehenna, therein dwelling forever; those are the worst of creatures. (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ الْبَرِيَّةِ (Ⅳ)
- Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures. (Ⅵ)
98. 7  
(And) lo! those who believe and do good works are the best of created beings.
- Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati olaika hum khayru albariyyati (Ⅰ)
- Verily, those who believe and act aright, they are the best of creatures; (Ⅱ)
- But those who believe, and do righteous deeds, those are the best of creatures; (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ (Ⅳ)
- Those who have faith and do righteous deeds,- they are the best of creatures. (Ⅵ)
98. 8  
Their reward is with their Lord: Gardens of Eden underneath which rivers flow, wherein they dwell for ever. Allah hath pleasure in them and they have pleasure in Him. This is (in store) for him who feareth his Lord.
- Jazaohum AAinda rabbihim jannatu AAadnin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu thalika liman khashiya rabbahu (Ⅰ)
- Their reward with their Lord is Gardens of Eden, beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein for aye; Allah shall be well pleased with them, and they with Him! That is for him who fears his Lord! (Ⅱ)
- their recompense is with their Lord-Gardens of Eden, underneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling for ever and ever. God is well-pleased with them, and they are well-pleased with Him; that is for him who fears his Lord. (Ⅲ)
- جَزَاؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۖ رَّضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ (Ⅳ)
- Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow; they will dwell therein for ever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher. (Ⅵ)
