5. 1

Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

- Maintenant, fille de troupes, rassemble tes troupes! On nous assiège; Avec la verge on frappe sur la joue le juge d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν ἐμφραχθήσεται θυγάτηρ Εφραιμ ἐν φραγμω̨̃ συνοχὴν ἔταξεν ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς ἐν ῥάβδω̨ πατάξουσιν ἐπὶ σιαγόνα τὰς φυλὰς του̃ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Nunc vastaberis, filia latronis./ Obsidionem posuerunt super nos :/ in virga percutient maxillam judicis Israël.]\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃4 עתה תתגדדי בת גדוד מצור שם עלינו בשבט יכו על הלחי את שפט ישראל ס‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 2

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

- Et toi, Bethléhem Éphrata, Petite entre les milliers de Juda, De toi sortira pour moi Celui qui dominera sur Israël, Et dont l'origine remonte aux temps anciens, Aux jours de l'éternité. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ σύ Βηθλεεμ οἰ̃κος του̃ Εφραθα ὀλιγοστὸς εἰ̃ του̃ εἰ̃ναι ἐν χιλιάσιν Ιουδα ἐκ σου̃ μοι ἐξελεύσεται του̃ εἰ̃ναι εἰς ἄρχοντα ἐν τω̨̃ Ισραηλ καὶ αἱ ἔξοδοι αὐτου̃ ἀπ' ἀρχη̃ς ἐξ ἡμερω̃ν αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ)

- Et tu, Bethlehem Ephrata,/ parvulus es in millibus Juda ;/ ex te mihi egredietur qui sit dominator in Israël,/ et egressus ejus ab initio,/ a diebus æternitatis./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃5 ואתה בית לחם אפרתה צעיר להיות באלפי יהודה ממך לי יצא להיות מושל בישראל ומוצאתיו מקדם מימי עולם ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 3

Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

- C'est pourquoi il les livrera Jusqu'au temps où enfantera celle qui doit enfanter, Et le reste de ses frères Reviendra auprès des enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- διὰ του̃το δώσει αὐτοὺς ἕως καιρου̃ τικτούσης τέξεται καὶ οἱ ἐπίλοιποι τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Propter hoc dabit eos usque ad tempus in quo parturiens pariet,/ et reliquiæ fratrum ejus convertentur ad filios Israël./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃5 לכן יתנם עד עת יולדה ילדה ויתר אחיו ישובון על בני ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 4

And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

- Il se présentera, et il gouvernera avec la force de l'Éternel, Avec la majesté du nom de l'Éternel, son Dieu: Et ils auront une demeure assurée, Car il sera glorifié jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ στήσεται καὶ ὄψεται καὶ ποιμανει̃ τὸ ποίμνιον αὐτου̃ ἐν ἰσχύι κυρίου καὶ ἐν τη̨̃ δόξη̨ του̃ ὀνόματος κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ αὐτω̃ν ὑπάρξουσιν διότι νυ̃ν μεγαλυνθήσεται ἕως ἄκρων τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et stabit, et pascet in fortitudine Domini,/ in sublimitate nominis Domini Dei sui :/ et convertentur,/ quia nunc magnificabitur usque ad terminos terræ./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃5 ועמד ורעה בעז יהוה בגאון שם יהוה אלהיו וישבו כי עתה יגדל עד אפסי ארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 5

And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

- C'est lui qui ramènera la paix. Lorsque l'Assyrien viendra dans notre pays, Et qu'il pénétrera dans nos palais, Nous ferons lever contre lui sept pasteurs Et huit princes du peuple. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται αὕτη εἰρήνη ὅταν 'Ασσύριος ἐπέλθη̨ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ὑμω̃ν καὶ ὅταν ἐπιβη̨̃ ἐπὶ τὴν χώραν ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἐπεγερθήσονται ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἑπτὰ ποιμένες καὶ ὀκτὼ δήγματα ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ)

- Et erit iste pax :/ cum venerit Assyrius in terram nostram,/ et quando calcaverit domibus nostris,/ et suscitabimus super eum septem pastores/ et octo primates homines ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃5 והיה זה שלום אשור כי יבוא בארצנו וכי ידרך בארמנתינו והקמנו עליו שבעה רעים ושמנה נסיכי אדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 6

And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

- Ils feront avec l'épée leur pâture du pays d'Assyrie Et du pays de Nimrod au dedans de ses portes. Il nous délivrera ainsi de l'Assyrien, Lorsqu'il viendra dans notre pays, Et qu'il pénétrera sur notre territoire. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ποιμανου̃σιν τὸν Ασσουρ ἐν ῥομφαία̨ καὶ τὴν γη̃ν του̃ Νεβρωδ ἐν τη̨̃ τάφρω̨ αὐτη̃ς καὶ ῥύσεται ἐκ του̃ Ασσουρ ὅταν ἐπέλθη̨ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ὑμω̃ν καὶ ὅταν ἐπιβη̨̃ ἐπὶ τὰ ὅρια ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- et pascent terram Assur in gladio,/ et terram Nemrod in lanceis ejus,/ et liberabit ab Assur cum venerit in terram nostram,/ et cum calcaverit in finibus nostris./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃5 ורעו את ארץ אשור בחרב ואת ארץ נמרד בפתחיה והציל מאשור כי יבוא בארצנו וכי ידרך בגבולנו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 7

And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

- Le reste de Jacob sera au milieu des peuples nombreux Comme une rosée qui vient de l'Éternel, Comme des gouttes d'eau sur l'herbe: Elles ne comptent pas sur l'homme, Elles ne dépendent pas des enfants des hommes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται τὸ ὑπόλειμμα του̃ Ιακωβ ἐν τοι̃ς ἔθνεσιν ἐν μέσω̨ λαω̃ν πολλω̃ν ὡς δρόσος παρὰ κυρίου πίπτουσα καὶ ὡς ἄρνες ἐπὶ ἄγρωστιν ὅπως μὴ συναχθη̨̃ μηδεὶς μηδὲ ὑποστη̨̃ ἐν υἱοι̃ς ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ)

- Et erunt reliquiæ Jacob in medio populorum multorum/ quasi ros a Domino,/ et quasi stillæ super herbam,/ quæ non exspectat virum,/ et non præstolatur filios hominum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃5 והיה שארית יעקב בקרב עמים רבים כטל מאת יהוה כרביבים עלי עשב אשר לא יקוה לאיש ולא ייחל לבני אדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 8

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

- Le reste de Jacob sera parmi les nations, Au milieu des peuples nombreux, Comme un lion parmi les bêtes de la forêt, Comme un lionceau parmi les troupeaux de brebis: Lorsqu'il passe, il foule et déchire, Et personne ne délivre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται τὸ ὑπόλειμμα του̃ Ιακωβ ἐν τοι̃ς ἔθνεσιν ἐν μέσω̨ λαω̃ν πολλω̃ν ὡς λέων ἐν κτήνεσιν ἐν τω̨̃ δρυμω̨̃ καὶ ὡς σκύμνος ἐν ποιμνίοις προβάτων ὃν τρόπον ὅταν διέλθη̨ καὶ διαστείλας ἁρπάση̨ καὶ μὴ ἠ̨̃ ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος (Ⅲ)

- Et erunt reliquiæ Jacob in gentibus,/ in medio populorum multorum,/ quasi leo in jumentis silvarum,/ et quasi catulus leonis in gregibus pecorum,/ qui cum transierit, et conculcaverit, et ceperit,/ non est qui eruat./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃5 והיה שארית יעקב בגוים בקרב עמים רבים כאריה בבהמות יער ככפיר בעדרי‪[Q]‬‪[n]‬‪[p]‬ צאן אשר אם עבר ורמס וטרף ואין מציל ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 9

Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

- Que ta main se lève sur tes adversaires, Et que tous tes ennemis soient exterminés! (Ⅱ)

- ὑψωθήσεται ἡ χείρ σου ἐπὶ τοὺς θλίβοντάς σε καὶ πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί σου ἐξολεθρευθήσονται (Ⅲ)

- Exaltabitur manus tua super hostes tuos,/ et omnes inimici tui interibunt./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃5 תרם ידך על צריך וכל איביך יכרתו פ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 10

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:

- En ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel, J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes chevaux, Et je détruirai tes chars; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ λέγει κύριος ἐξολεθρεύσω τοὺς ἵππους σου ἐκ μέσου σου καὶ ἀπολω̃ τὰ ἅρματά σου (Ⅲ)

- Et erit in die illa, dicit Dominus :/ auferam equos tuos de medio tui,/ et disperdam quadrigas tuas./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃5 והיה ביום ההוא נאם יהוה והכרתי סוסיך מקרבך והאבדתי מרכבתיך ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 11

And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:

- J'exterminerai les villes de ton pays, Et je renverserai toutes tes forteresses; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω τὰς πόλεις τη̃ς γη̃ς σου καὶ ἐξαρω̃ πάντα τὰ ὀχυρώματά σου (Ⅲ)

- Et perdam civitates terræ tuæ,/ et destruam omnes munitiones tuas :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃5 והכרתי ערי ארצך והרסתי כל מבצריך ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 12

And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:

- J'exterminerai de ta main les enchantements, Et tu n'auras plus de magiciens; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξαρω̃ τὰ φάρμακά σου ἐκ τω̃ν χειρω̃ν σου καὶ ἀποφθεγγόμενοι οὐκ ἔσονται ἐν σοί (Ⅲ)

- et auferam maleficia de manu tua,/ et divinationes non erunt in te :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃5 והכרתי כשפים מידך ומעוננים לא יהיו לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 13

Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.

- J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles et tes statues, Et tu ne te prosterneras plus devant l'ouvrage de tes mains; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω τὰ γλυπτά σου καὶ τὰς στήλας σου ἐκ μέσου σου καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ προσκυνήση̨ς τοι̃ς ἔργοις τω̃ν χειρω̃ν σου (Ⅲ)

- et perire faciam sculptilia tua et statuas tuas de medio tui,/ et non adorabis ultra opera manuum tuarum :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃5 והכרתי פסיליך ומצבותיך מקרבך ולא תשתחוה עוד למעשה ידיך ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 14

And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.

- J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles d'Astarté, Et je détruirai tes villes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκκόψω τὰ ἄλση σου ἐκ μέσου σου καὶ ἀφανιω̃ τὰς πόλεις σου (Ⅲ)

- et evellam lucos tuos de medio tui,/ et conteram civitates tuas./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃5 ונתשתי אשיריך מקרבך והשמדתי עריך ‬ (Ⅴ)

5. 15

And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

- J'exercerai ma vengeance avec colère, avec fureur, sur les nations Qui n'ont pas écouté. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ποιήσω ἐν ὀργη̨̃ καὶ ἐν θυμω̨̃ ἐκδίκησιν ἐν τοι̃ς ἔθνεσιν ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν οὐκ εἰσήκουσαν (Ⅲ)

- Et faciam, in furore et in indignatione, ultionem/ in omnibus gentibus quæ non audierunt.] (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃5 ועשיתי באף ובחמה נקם את הגוים אשר לא שמעו ס‬ (Ⅴ)
