The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

The rivalry in worldly increase deludes you
- Alhakumu alttakathuru (Ⅰ) - Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you (Ⅱ) - Gross rivalry diverts you, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ (Ⅳ) - The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), (Ⅵ)

Till you visit the graves!
- Hatta zurtumu almaqabira (Ⅰ) - Until ye come to the graves. (Ⅱ) - even till you visit the tombs. (Ⅲ) - حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ (Ⅳ) - Until ye visit the graves. (Ⅵ)

Nay! In the end you shall know!
- Kalla sawfa taAAlamoona (Ⅰ) - Nay, but ye will come to know! (Ⅱ) - No indeed; but soon you shall know. (Ⅲ) - كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (Ⅳ) - But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality). (Ⅵ)

And again Nay! In the end you shall know!
- Thumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoona (Ⅰ) - Nay, but ye will come to know! (Ⅱ) - Again, no indeed; but soon you shall know. (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (Ⅳ) - Again, ye soon shall know! (Ⅵ)

Nay! Did you but know with certain knowledge!
- Kalla law taAAlamoona AAilma alyaqeeni (Ⅰ) - Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge! (Ⅱ) - No indeed; did you know with the knowledge of certainty, (Ⅲ) - كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ (Ⅳ) - Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!) (Ⅵ)

You shall surely see hell!
- Latarawunna aljaheema (Ⅰ) - For ye will behold hell-fire. (Ⅱ) - you shall surely see Hell; (Ⅲ) - لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ (Ⅳ) - Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire! (Ⅵ)

And again you shall surely see it with an eye of certainty.
- Thumma latarawunnaha AAayna alyaqeeni (Ⅰ) - Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision. (Ⅱ) - Again, you shall surely see it with the eye of certainty (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ (Ⅳ) - Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight! (Ⅵ)

Then you shall surely be asked about pleasure!
- Thumma latusalunna yawmaithin AAani alnnaAAeemi (Ⅰ) - Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure. (Ⅱ) - then you shall be questioned that day concerning true bliss. (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!). (Ⅵ)
