Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅴ)

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),
- Alhakumu alttakathuru (Ⅰ) - The rivalry in worldly increase deludes you (Ⅱ) - Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you (Ⅲ) - Gross rivalry diverts you, (Ⅳ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ (Ⅴ)

Until ye visit the graves.
- Hatta zurtumu almaqabira (Ⅰ) - Till you visit the graves! (Ⅱ) - Until ye come to the graves. (Ⅲ) - even till you visit the tombs. (Ⅳ) - حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ (Ⅴ)

But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).
- Kalla sawfa taAAlamoona (Ⅰ) - Nay! In the end you shall know! (Ⅱ) - Nay, but ye will come to know! (Ⅲ) - No indeed; but soon you shall know. (Ⅳ) - كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (Ⅴ)

Again, ye soon shall know!
- Thumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoona (Ⅰ) - And again Nay! In the end you shall know! (Ⅱ) - Nay, but ye will come to know! (Ⅲ) - Again, no indeed; but soon you shall know. (Ⅳ) - ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ (Ⅴ)

Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)
- Kalla law taAAlamoona AAilma alyaqeeni (Ⅰ) - Nay! Did you but know with certain knowledge! (Ⅱ) - Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge! (Ⅲ) - No indeed; did you know with the knowledge of certainty, (Ⅳ) - كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ (Ⅴ)

Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!
- Latarawunna aljaheema (Ⅰ) - You shall surely see hell! (Ⅱ) - For ye will behold hell-fire. (Ⅲ) - you shall surely see Hell; (Ⅳ) - لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ (Ⅴ)

Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!
- Thumma latarawunnaha AAayna alyaqeeni (Ⅰ) - And again you shall surely see it with an eye of certainty. (Ⅱ) - Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision. (Ⅲ) - Again, you shall surely see it with the eye of certainty (Ⅳ) - ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ (Ⅴ)

Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!).
- Thumma latusalunna yawmaithin AAani alnnaAAeemi (Ⅰ) - Then you shall surely be asked about pleasure! (Ⅱ) - Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure. (Ⅲ) - then you shall be questioned that day concerning true bliss. (Ⅳ) - ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ (Ⅴ)
