The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

By the declining day!
- WaalAAasri (Ⅰ) - By the declining day, (Ⅱ) - By the afternoon! (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالْعَصْرِ (Ⅳ) - By (the Token of) Time (through the ages), (Ⅵ)

Verily, man is in a state of loss,
- Inna alinsana lafee khusrin (Ⅰ) - Lo! man is a state of loss, (Ⅱ) - Surely Man is in the way of loss, (Ⅲ) - إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ (Ⅳ) - Verily Man is in loss, (Ⅵ)

Save those who believe and do good works, and bid each other to truth, and bid each other endurance.
- Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati watawasaw bialhaqqi watawasaw bialssabri (Ⅰ) - Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance. (Ⅱ) - save those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other unto the truth, and counsel each other to be steadfast. (Ⅲ) - إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ (Ⅳ) - Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy. (Ⅵ)
