Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅴ)

By (the Token of) Time (through the ages),
- WaalAAasri (Ⅰ) - By the declining day! (Ⅱ) - By the declining day, (Ⅲ) - By the afternoon! (Ⅳ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالْعَصْرِ (Ⅴ)

Verily Man is in loss,
- Inna alinsana lafee khusrin (Ⅰ) - Verily, man is in a state of loss, (Ⅱ) - Lo! man is a state of loss, (Ⅲ) - Surely Man is in the way of loss, (Ⅳ) - إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ (Ⅴ)

Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.
- Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati watawasaw bialhaqqi watawasaw bialssabri (Ⅰ) - Save those who believe and do good works, and bid each other to truth, and bid each other endurance. (Ⅱ) - Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance. (Ⅲ) - save those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other unto the truth, and counsel each other to be steadfast. (Ⅳ) - إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ (Ⅴ)
