55. 0  
The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
55. 1  
The Beneficent Allah,
- Alrrahmanu (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent (Ⅱ)
- The All-merciful (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ (Ⅳ)
- (Allah) Most Gracious! (Ⅵ)
55. 2  
Taught (Has made known) the Quran.
- AAallama alqurana (Ⅰ)
- Hath made known the Qur'an. (Ⅱ)
- has taught the Koran. (Ⅲ)
- عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ (Ⅳ)
- It is He Who has taught the Qur´an. (Ⅵ)
55. 3  
He created man,
- Khalaqa alinsana (Ⅰ)
- He hath created man. (Ⅱ)
- He created man (Ⅲ)
- خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ (Ⅳ)
- He has created man: (Ⅵ)
55. 4  
Taught him speech (language, modes of expression and communication).
- AAallamahu albayana (Ⅰ)
- He hath taught him utterance. (Ⅱ)
- and He has taught him the Explanation. (Ⅲ)
- عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ (Ⅳ)
- He has taught him speech (and intelligence). (Ⅵ)
55. 5  
The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) reckoned (in space and time).
- Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin (Ⅰ)
- The sun and the moon are made punctual. (Ⅱ)
- The sun and the moon to a reckoning, (Ⅲ)
- الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ (Ⅳ)
- The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; (Ⅵ)
55. 6  
And the stars (or herds of animals) and the trees do adore (Him).
- Waalnnajmu waalshshajaru yasjudani (Ⅰ)
- The stars and the trees adore. (Ⅱ)
- and the stars and the trees bow themselves; (Ⅲ)
- وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ (Ⅳ)
- And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. (Ⅵ)
55. 7  
And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the Balance (or set the measure),
- Waalssamaa rafaAAaha wawadaAAa almeezana (Ⅰ)
- And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, (Ⅱ)
- and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. (Ⅲ)
- وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ (Ⅳ)
- And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), (Ⅵ)
55. 8  
That you may not exceed the measure (or transgress beyond limits).
- Alla tatghaw fee almeezani (Ⅰ)
- That ye exceed not the measure, (Ⅱ)
- (Transgress not in the Balance, (Ⅲ)
- أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ (Ⅳ)
- In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. (Ⅵ)
55. 9  
But keep the measure strictly (with justice or equity) nor fall short of it (or be deficient in measuring).
- Waaqeemoo alwazna bialqisti wala tukhsiroo almeezana (Ⅰ)
- But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. (Ⅱ)
- and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) (Ⅲ)
- وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ (Ⅳ)
- So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. (Ⅵ)
55. 10  
And the earth, has He set out for (His) creatures;
- Waalarda wadaAAaha lilanami (Ⅰ)
- And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, (Ⅱ)
- And earth -- He set it down for all beings, (Ⅲ)
- وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ (Ⅳ)
- It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: (Ⅵ)
55. 11  
Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters,
- Feeha fakihatun waalnnakhlu thatu alakmami (Ⅰ)
- Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, (Ⅱ)
- therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, (Ⅲ)
- فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ (Ⅳ)
- Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); (Ⅵ)
55. 12  
And the grain with its husk and fragrant herbs.
- Waalhabbu thoo alAAasfi waalrrayhani (Ⅰ)
- Husked grain and scented herb. (Ⅱ)
- and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. (Ⅲ)
- وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ (Ⅳ)
- Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. (Ⅵ)
55. 13  
Which then of the bounties (favours, gifts)) of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 14  
He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels (as containers),
- Khalaqa alinsana min salsalin kaalfakhkhari (Ⅰ)
- He created man of clay like the potter's, (Ⅱ)
- He created man of a clay like the potter´s, (Ⅲ)
- خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ (Ⅳ)
- He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, (Ⅵ)
55. 15  
And He created the jinn of a flame of (or of smokeless) fire.
- Wakhalaqa aljanna min marijin min narin (Ⅰ)
- And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. (Ⅱ)
- and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. (Ⅲ)
- وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ (Ⅳ)
- And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: (Ⅵ)
55. 16  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 17  
He is the Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests.
- Rabbu almashriqayni warabbu almaghribayni (Ⅰ)
- Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! (Ⅱ)
- Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, (Ⅲ)
- رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ (Ⅳ)
- (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: (Ⅵ)
55. 18  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 19  
He has made the two seas (streams or bodies of water, salt and sweet) to flow freely so that they meet together:
- Maraja albahrayni yaltaqiyani (Ⅰ)
- He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. (Ⅱ)
- He let forth the two seas that meet together, (Ⅲ)
- مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ (Ⅳ)
- He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: (Ⅵ)
55. 20  
Between them is a barrier which they do not transgress.
- Baynahuma barzakhun la yabghiyani (Ⅰ)
- There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). (Ⅱ)
- between them a barrier they do not overpass. (Ⅲ)
- بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: (Ⅵ)
55. 21  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 22  
There come forth from them pearls and coral.
- Yakhruju minhuma alluluo waalmarjanu (Ⅰ)
- There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. (Ⅱ)
- From them come forth the pearl and the coral. (Ⅲ)
- يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ (Ⅳ)
- Out of them come Pearls and Coral: (Ⅵ)
55. 23  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 24  
And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains.
- Walahu aljawari almunshaatu fee albahri kaalaAAlami (Ⅰ)
- His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. (Ⅱ)
- His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. (Ⅲ)
- وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ (Ⅳ)
- And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: (Ⅵ)
55. 25  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 26  
All that is therein (on earth) must pass away.
- Kullu man AAalayha fanin (Ⅰ)
- Everyone that is thereon will pass away; (Ⅱ)
- All that dwells upon the earth is perishing, (Ⅲ)
- كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ (Ⅳ)
- All that is on earth will perish: (Ⅵ)
55. 27  
And there remains naught but the Countenance of your Lord of Might and Glory (or of Majesty and Nobility (Bounty and Honour)).
- Wayabqa wajhu rabbika thoo aljalali waalikrami (Ⅰ)
- There remaineth but the Countenance of thy Lord of Might and Glory. (Ⅱ)
- yet still abides the Face of thy Lord, majestic, splendid. (Ⅲ)
- وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ (Ⅳ)
- But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour. (Ⅵ)
55. 28  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 29  
All those who are in the heavens and the earth entreat (or need) Him; every moment is He in a (new?) state of Glory (or wields universal power).
- Yasaluhu man fee alssamawati waalardi kulla yawmin huwa fee shanin (Ⅰ)
- All that are in the heavens and the earth entreat Him. Every day He exerciseth (universal) power. (Ⅱ)
- Whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth implore Him; every day He is upon some labour. (Ⅲ)
- يَسْأَلُهُ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأْنٍ (Ⅳ)
- Of Him seeks (its need) every creature in the heavens and on earth: every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine)! (Ⅵ)
55. 30  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 31  
Soon will We apply Ourselves to you, O you two worlds (men and jinn or outer and inner, manifest and hidden).
- Sanafrughu lakum ayyuha alththaqalani (Ⅰ)
- We shall dispose of you, O ye two dependents (man and jinn). (Ⅱ)
- We shall surely attend to you at leisure, you weight and you weight! (Ⅲ)
- سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ الثَّقَلَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Soon shall We settle your affairs, O both ye worlds! (Ⅵ)
55. 32  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 33  
O assembly of the jinn and the men! If you are able to pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass through but with authority.
- Ya maAAshara aljinni waalinsi ini istataAAtum an tanfuthoo min aqtari alssamawati waalardi faonfuthoo la tanfuthoona illa bisultanin (Ⅰ)
- O company of jinn and men, if ye have power to penetrate (all) regions of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate (them)! Ye will never penetrate them save with (Our) sanction. (Ⅱ)
- O tribe of jinn and of men, if you are able to pass through the confines of heaven and earth, pass through them! You shall not pass through except with an authority. (Ⅲ)
- يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانفُذُوا ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَانٍ (Ⅳ)
- O ye assembly of Jinns and men! If it be ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! not without authority shall ye be able to pass! (Ⅵ)
55. 34  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 35  
The flames of fire (to burn) and smoke (to choke) will be sent on you two, then you will have no defence.
- Yursalu AAalaykuma shuwathun min narin wanuhasun fala tantasirani (Ⅰ)
- There will be sent, against you both, heat of fire and flash of brass, and ye will not escape. (Ⅱ)
- Against you shall be loosed a flame of fire, and molten brass; and you shall not be helped. (Ⅲ)
- يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ (Ⅳ)
- On you will be sent (O ye evil ones twain!) a flame of fire (to burn) and a smoke (to choke): no defence will ye have: (Ⅵ)
55. 36  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 37  
And when the heaven is rent asunder and then becomes red like red hide.
- Faitha inshaqqati alssamao fakanat wardatan kaalddihani (Ⅰ)
- And when the heaven splitteth asunder and becometh rosy like red hide - (Ⅱ)
- And when heaven is split asunder, and turns crimson like red leather -- (Ⅲ)
- فَإِذَا انشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ (Ⅳ)
- When the sky is rent asunder, and it becomes red like ointment: (Ⅵ)
55. 38  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? - (Ⅱ)
- O which of our Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 39  
So on that day neither man nor jinn shall be asked about his sin.
- Fayawmaithin la yusalu AAan thanbihi insun wala jannun (Ⅰ)
- On that day neither man nor jinni will be questioned of his sin. (Ⅱ)
- on that day none shall be questioned about his sin, neither man nor jinn. (Ⅲ)
- فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذَنبِهِ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ (Ⅳ)
- On that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin. (Ⅵ)
55. 40  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 41  
The guilty shall be recognized by their marks, so they shall be seized by the forelocks and the feet.
- YuAArafu almujrimoona biseemahum fayukhathu bialnnawasee waalaqdami (Ⅰ)
- The guilty will be known by their marks, and will be taken by the forelocks and the feet. (Ⅱ)
- The sinners shall be known by their mark, and they shall be seized by their forelocks and their feet. (Ⅲ)
- يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَاهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِي وَالْأَقْدَامِ (Ⅳ)
- (For) the sinners will be known by their marks: and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet. (Ⅵ)
55. 42  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 43  
This is the hell which the guilty called a lie.
- Hathihi jahannamu allatee yukaththibu biha almujrimoona (Ⅰ)
- This is hell which the guilty deny. (Ⅱ)
- This is Gehenna, that sinners cried lies to; (Ⅲ)
- هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ (Ⅳ)
- This is the Hell which the Sinners deny: (Ⅵ)
55. 44  
They go circling between it and hot, boiling water.
- Yatoofoona baynaha wabayna hameemin anin (Ⅰ)
- They go circling round between it and fierce, boiling water. (Ⅱ)
- they shall go round between it and between hot, boiling water. (Ⅲ)
- يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ آنٍ (Ⅳ)
- In its midst and in the midst of boiling hot water will they wander round! (Ⅵ)
55. 45  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? (Ⅵ)
55. 46  
And for him who fears to stand before his Lord are two Gardens.
- Waliman khafa maqama rabbihi jannatani (Ⅰ)
- But for him who feareth the standing before his Lord there are two gardens. (Ⅱ)
- But such as fears the Station of his Lord, for them shall be two gardens -- (Ⅲ)
- وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ (Ⅳ)
- But for such as fear the time when they will stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will be two Gardens- (Ⅵ)
55. 47  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
- فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (Ⅳ)
- Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?- (Ⅵ)
55. 48  
Containing in them various kinds (trees and delights).
- Thawata afnanin (Ⅰ)
- Of spreading branches. (Ⅱ)
- abounding in branches -- (Ⅲ)
- ذَوَاتَا أَفْنَانٍ (Ⅳ)
- Containing all kinds (of trees and delights);- (Ⅵ)
55. 49  
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
- Fabiayyi alai rabbikuma tukaththibani (Ⅰ)
- Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny ? (Ⅱ)
- O which of your Lord´s bounties will you and you deny? (Ⅲ)
