56. 50  
shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day.
- LamajmooAAoona ila meeqati yawmin maAAloomin (Ⅰ)
- "Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. (Ⅱ)
- Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. (Ⅲ)
- لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (Ⅳ)
- "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. (Ⅵ)
56. 51  
Then you erring ones, you that cried lies,
- Thumma innakum ayyuha alddalloona almukaththiboona (Ⅰ)
- "Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! (Ⅱ)
- Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- (Ⅵ)
56. 52  
you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum,
- Laakiloona min shajarin min zaqqoomin (Ⅰ)
- "Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqum, (Ⅱ)
- Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum (Ⅲ)
- لَآكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ (Ⅳ)
- "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. (Ⅵ)
56. 53  
and you shall fill therewith your bellies
- Famalioona minha albutoona (Ⅰ)
- "And fill your bellies therewith; (Ⅱ)
- And will fill your bellies therewith; (Ⅲ)
- فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ (Ⅳ)
- "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, (Ⅵ)
56. 54  
and drink on top of that boiling water
- Fashariboona AAalayhi mina alhameemi (Ⅰ)
- "Then drink over it boiling water; (Ⅱ)
- And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, (Ⅲ)
- فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: (Ⅵ)
56. 55  
lapping it down like thirsty camels.´
- Fashariboona shurba alheemi (Ⅰ)
- "And drink as drinks the thirsty camel." (Ⅱ)
- Drinking even as the camel drinketh. (Ⅲ)
- فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" (Ⅵ)
56. 56  
This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom.
- Hatha nuzuluhum yawma alddeeni (Ⅰ)
- This is their entertainment on the Day of Requital. (Ⅱ)
- This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. (Ⅲ)
- هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ)
- Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! (Ⅵ)
56. 57  
We created you; therefore why will you not believe?
- Nahnu khalaqnakum falawla tusaddiqoona (Ⅰ)
- We have created you, why do you not then assent? (Ⅱ)
- We created you. Will ye then admit the truth ? (Ⅲ)
- نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ (Ⅳ)
- It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? (Ⅵ)
56. 58  
Have you considered the seed you spill?
- Afaraaytum ma tumnoona (Ⅰ)
- Have you considered the seed (or what you emit)? (Ⅱ)
- Have ye seen that which ye emit ? (Ⅲ)
- أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- (Ⅵ)
56. 59  
Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators?
- Aantum takhluqoonahu am nahnu alkhaliqoona (Ⅰ)
- Is it you that create it or are We the creators? (Ⅱ)
- Do ye create it or are We the Creator ? (Ⅲ)
- أَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? (Ⅵ)
56. 60  
We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped;
- Nahnu qaddarna baynakumu almawta wama nahnu bimasbooqeena (Ⅰ)
- We have ordained death among you and We are not to be frustrated, (Ⅱ)
- We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, (Ⅲ)
- نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ (Ⅳ)
- We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated (Ⅵ)
56. 61  
that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not.
- AAala an nubaddila amthalakum wanunshiakum fee ma la taAAlamoona (Ⅰ)
- That We may transfigure you and make you grow into what you know not. (Ⅱ)
- That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. (Ⅲ)
- عَلَىٰ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ (Ⅳ)
- from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. (Ⅵ)
56. 62  
You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember?
- Walaqad AAalimtumu alnnashata aloola falawla tathakkaroona (Ⅰ)
- And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then reflect? (Ⅱ)
- And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect ? (Ⅲ)
- وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? (Ⅵ)
56. 63  
Have you considered the soil you till?
- Afaraaytum ma tahruthoona (Ⅰ)
- Have you considered what you sow? (Ⅱ)
- Have ye seen that which ye cultivate ? (Ⅲ)
- أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ (Ⅳ)
- See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? (Ⅵ)
56. 64  
Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers?
- Aantum tazraAAoonahu am nahnu alzzariAAoona (Ⅰ)
- Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the cause. (Ⅱ)
- Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer ? (Ⅲ)
- أَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? (Ⅵ)
56. 65  
Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting --
- Law nashao lajaAAalnahu hutaman fathaltum tafakkahoona (Ⅰ)
- If We willed, We could crumble it to powder, then would you lament, (Ⅱ)
- If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: (Ⅲ)
- لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, (Ⅵ)
56. 66  
´We are debt-loaded;
- Inna lamughramoona (Ⅰ)
- "Surely we are burdened with debt; (Ⅱ)
- Lo! we are laden with debt! (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ (Ⅳ)
- (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): (Ⅵ)
56. 67  
nay, we have been robbed!´
- Bal nahnu mahroomoona (Ⅰ)
- "Nay! We are deprived." (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but we are deprived! (Ⅲ)
- بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ (Ⅳ)
- "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" (Ⅵ)
56. 68  
Have you considered the water you drink?
- Afaraaytumu almaa allathee tashraboona (Ⅰ)
- Have you considered the water which you drink? (Ⅱ)
- Have ye observed the water which ye drink ? (Ⅲ)
- أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- See ye the water which ye drink? (Ⅵ)
56. 69  
Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it?
- Aantum anzaltumoohu mina almuzni am nahnu almunziloona (Ⅰ)
- Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? (Ⅱ)
- Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder ? (Ⅲ)
- أَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنزِلُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? (Ⅵ)
56. 70  
Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful?
- Law nashao jaAAalnahu ojajan falawla tashkuroona (Ⅰ)
- If We willed, We could have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? (Ⅱ)
- If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks ? (Ⅲ)
- لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? (Ⅵ)
56. 71  
Have you considered the fire you kindle?
- Afaraaytumu alnnara allatee tooroona (Ⅰ)
- Have you considered the fire which you strike? (Ⅱ)
- Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; (Ⅲ)
- أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ (Ⅳ)
- See ye the Fire which ye kindle? (Ⅵ)
56. 72  
Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it?
- Aantum anshatum shajarataha am nahnu almunshioona (Ⅰ)
- Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? (Ⅱ)
- Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower ? (Ⅲ)
- أَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنشِئُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? (Ⅵ)
56. 73  
We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers.
- Nahnu jaAAalnaha tathkiratan wamataAAan lilmuqweena (Ⅰ)
- We have made it a reminder and a convenience for the dwellers of the deserts. (Ⅱ)
- We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. (Ⅲ)
- نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ (Ⅳ)
- We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. (Ⅵ)
56. 74  
Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty.
- Fasabbih biismi rabbika alAAatheemi (Ⅰ)
- Therefore, glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. (Ⅱ)
- Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. (Ⅲ)
- فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! (Ⅵ)
56. 75  
No! I swear by the fallings of the stars
- Fala oqsimu bimawaqiAAi alnnujoomi (Ⅰ)
- But nay! I swear by the setting (or falling or fading) of stars; (Ⅱ)
- Nay, I swear by the places of the stars - (Ⅲ)
- ۞ فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ (Ⅳ)
- Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,- (Ⅵ)
56. 76  
(and that is indeed a mighty oath, did you but know it)
- Wainnahu laqasamun law taAAlamoona AAatheemun (Ⅰ)
- And most surely it is a very great oath if you only knew; (Ⅱ)
- And lo! that verily is a tremendous oath, if ye but knew - (Ⅲ)
- وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ (Ⅳ)
- And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,- (Ⅵ)
56. 77  
it is surely a noble Koran
- Innahu laquranun kareemun (Ⅰ)
- Most surely it is an honoured Quran, (Ⅱ)
- That (this) is indeed a noble Qur'an (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ (Ⅳ)
- That this is indeed a qur´an Most Honourable, (Ⅵ)
56. 78  
in a hidden Book
- Fee kitabin maknoonin (Ⅰ)
- In a book that is protected (Ⅱ)
- In a Book kept hidden (Ⅲ)
- فِي كِتَابٍ مَّكْنُونٍ (Ⅳ)
- In Book well-guarded, (Ⅵ)
56. 79  
none but the purified shall touch,
- La yamassuhu illa almutahharoona (Ⅰ)
- None shall touch it save the purified ones. (Ⅱ)
- Which none toucheth save the purified, (Ⅲ)
- لَّا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Which none shall touch but those who are clean: (Ⅵ)
56. 80  
a sending down from the Lord of all Being.
- Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- A revelation by the Lord of the worlds. (Ⅱ)
- A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. (Ⅲ)
- تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Ⅳ)
- A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. (Ⅵ)
56. 81  
What, do you hold this discourse in disdain,
- Afabihatha alhadeethi antum mudhinoona (Ⅰ)
- Do you then hold this announcement in contempt? (Ⅱ)
- Is it this Statement that ye scorn, (Ⅲ)
- أَفَبِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem? (Ⅵ)
56. 82  
and do you make it your living to cry lies?
- WatajAAaloona rizqakum annakum tukaththiboona (Ⅰ)
- And make denial of it your means of subsistence. (Ⅱ)
- And make denial thereof your livelihood ? (Ⅲ)
- وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false? (Ⅵ)
56. 83  
Why, but when the soul leaps to the throat of the dying
- Falawla itha balaghati alhulqooma (Ⅰ)
- Why then do you not (intervene) when the soul comes up to the throat (of a dying person), (Ⅱ)
- Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying) (Ⅲ)
- فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ (Ⅳ)
- Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,- (Ⅵ)
56. 84  
and that hour you are watching
- Waantum heenaithin tanthuroona (Ⅰ)
- And you the while look on - (Ⅱ)
- And ye are at that moment looking (Ⅲ)
- وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- And ye the while (sit) looking on,- (Ⅵ)
56. 85  
(And We are nigher him than you, but you do not see Us)
- Wanahnu aqrabu ilayhi minkum walakin la tubsiroona (Ⅰ)
- And We are nearer to it (the soul) than you, but you see not - (Ⅱ)
- - And We are nearer unto him than ye are, but ye see not - (Ⅲ)
- وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,- (Ⅵ)
56. 86  
why, if you are not at Our disposal,
- Falawla in kuntum ghayra madeeneena (Ⅰ)
- Then why, if you are not under Our authority, (Ⅱ)
- Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us), (Ⅲ)
- فَلَوْلَا إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ (Ⅳ)
- Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,- (Ⅵ)
56. 87  
do you not bring back his soul, if you speak truly?
- TarjiAAoonaha in kuntum sadiqeena (Ⅰ)
- Force back (the soul), if you are truthful (about your independence)? (Ⅱ)
- Do ye not force it back, if ye are truthful ? (Ⅲ)
- تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ (Ⅳ)
- Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)? (Ⅵ)
56. 88  
Then, if he be of those brought nigh the Throne,
- Faamma in kana mina almuqarrabeena (Ⅰ)
- Then if he is one of those Near to Allah, (Ⅱ)
- Thus if he is of those brought nigh, (Ⅲ)
- فَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ (Ⅳ)
- Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah, (Ⅵ)
56. 89  
there shall be repose and ease, and a Garden of Delight;
- Farawhun warayhanun wajannatu naAAeemin (Ⅰ)
- (There is for him) Satisfaction and Bounty and a Garden of Bliss. (Ⅱ)
- Then breath of life, and plenty, and a Garden of delight. (Ⅲ)
- فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- (There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights. (Ⅵ)
56. 90  
and if he be a Companion of the Right:
- Waamma in kana min ashabi alyameeni (Ⅰ)
- And if he is one of those on the Right Hand, (Ⅱ)
- And if he is of those on the right hand, (Ⅲ)
- وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (Ⅳ)
- And if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand, (Ⅵ)
56. 91  
´Peace be upon thee, Companion of the Right!´
- Fasalamun laka min ashabi alyameeni (Ⅰ)
- Then (the salutation) "Peace to you” from the companions of the Right Hand. (Ⅱ)
- Then (the greeting) "Peace be unto thee" from those on the right hand. (Ⅲ)
- فَسَلَامٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (Ⅳ)
- (For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand. (Ⅵ)
56. 92  
But if he be of them that cried lies, and went astray,
- Waamma in kana mina almukaththibeena alddalleena (Ⅰ)
- And if he is one of the rejecters, the erring ones, (Ⅱ)
- But if he is of the rejecters, the erring, (Ⅲ)
- وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ (Ⅳ)
- And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong, (Ⅵ)
56. 93  
there shall be a hospitality of boiling water
- Fanuzulun min hameemin (Ⅰ)
- He shall have an entertainment of boiling water, (Ⅱ)
- Then the welcome will be boiling water (Ⅲ)
- فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water. (Ⅵ)
56. 94  
and the roasting in Hell.
- Watasliyatu jaheemin (Ⅰ)
- And burning in Hell. (Ⅱ)
- And roasting at hell-fire. (Ⅲ)
- وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- And burning in Hell-Fire. (Ⅵ)
56. 95  
Surely this is the truth of certainty.
- Inna hatha lahuwa haqqu alyaqeeni (Ⅰ)
- Most surely this is a certain truth (or the Truth of Certainty). (Ⅱ)
- Lo! this is certain truth. (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ (Ⅳ)
- Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly. (Ⅵ)
56. 96  
Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty.
- Fasabbih biismi rabbika alAAatheemi (Ⅰ)
- Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. (Ⅱ)
- Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. (Ⅲ)
