75. 0  
The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
75. 1  
Nay! I swear by (or call to witness) the Day of Resurrection.
- La oqsimu biyawmi alqiyamati (Ⅰ)
- Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; (Ⅱ)
- No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ (Ⅳ)
- I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; (Ⅵ)
75. 2  
Nay! I swear by (or call to witness) the self-accusing soul.
- Wala oqsimu bialnnafsi allawwamati (Ⅰ)
- Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). (Ⅱ)
- No! I swear by the reproachful soul. (Ⅲ)
- وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ (Ⅳ)
- And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). (Ⅵ)
75. 3  
Does man think that We shall not gather his bones?
- Ayahsabu alinsanu allan najmaAAa AAithamahu (Ⅰ)
- Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones ? (Ⅱ)
- What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? (Ⅲ)
- أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? (Ⅵ)
75. 4  
Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips
- Bala qadireena AAala an nusawwiya bananahu (Ⅰ)
- Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! (Ⅱ)
- Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. (Ⅲ)
- بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. (Ⅵ)
75. 5  
Nay! Man desires to give the lie to what is before him.
- Bal yureedu alinsanu liyafjura amamahu (Ⅰ)
- But man would fain deny what is before him. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, (Ⅲ)
- بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ (Ⅳ)
- But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. (Ⅵ)
75. 6  
He asks, "When is the day of resurrection?"
- Yasalu ayyana yawmu alqiyamati (Ⅰ)
- He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection ? (Ⅱ)
- asking, ´When shall be the Day of Resurrection?´ (Ⅲ)
- يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ (Ⅳ)
- He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" (Ⅵ)
75. 7  
So when the sight becomes dazzled,
- Faitha bariqa albasaru (Ⅰ)
- But when sight is confounded (Ⅱ)
- But when the sight is dazed (Ⅲ)
- فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ (Ⅳ)
- At length, when the sight is dazed, (Ⅵ)
75. 8  
And the moon becomes dark,
- Wakhasafa alqamaru (Ⅰ)
- And the moon is eclipsed (Ⅱ)
- and the moon is eclipsed, (Ⅲ)
- وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ (Ⅳ)
- And the moon is buried in darkness. (Ⅵ)
75. 9  
And the sun and the moon are brought together,
- WajumiAAa alshshamsu waalqamaru (Ⅰ)
- And sun and moon are united, (Ⅱ)
- and the sun and moon are brought together, (Ⅲ)
- وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ (Ⅳ)
- And the sun and moon are joined together,- (Ⅵ)
75. 10  
Man shall say on that day, "Whither can I flee for refuge?"
- Yaqoolu alinsanu yawmaithin ayna almafarru (Ⅰ)
- On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! (Ⅱ)
- upon that day man shall say, ´Whither to flee?´ (Ⅲ)
- يَقُولُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ (Ⅳ)
- That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" (Ⅵ)
75. 11  
By no means! There shall be no place of refuge!
- Kalla la wazara (Ⅰ)
- Alas! No refuge! (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; not a refuge! (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ (Ⅳ)
- By no means! No place of safety! (Ⅵ)
75. 12  
With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest.
- Ila rabbika yawmaithin almustaqarru (Ⅰ)
- Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. (Ⅱ)
- Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. (Ⅲ)
- إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ (Ⅳ)
- Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. (Ⅵ)
75. 13  
Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and what he put off.
- Yunabbao alinsanu yawmaithin bima qaddama waakhkhara (Ⅰ)
- On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. (Ⅱ)
- Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; (Ⅲ)
- يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ (Ⅳ)
- That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. (Ⅵ)
75. 14  
Nay! Man is telling evidence against himself,
- Bali alinsanu AAala nafsihi baseeratun (Ⅰ)
- Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, (Ⅱ)
- nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, (Ⅲ)
- بَلِ الْإِنسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Nay, man will be evidence against himself, (Ⅵ)
75. 15  
Though he puts forth his excuses.
- Walaw alqa maAAatheerahu (Ⅰ)
- Although he tender his excuses. (Ⅱ)
- even though he offer his excuses. (Ⅲ)
- وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Even though he were to put up his excuses. (Ⅵ)
75. 16  
Move not your tongue with it (the Quran) to make haste with it,
- La tuharrik bihi lisanaka litaAAjala bihi (Ⅰ)
- Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. (Ⅱ)
- Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; (Ⅲ)
- لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ (Ⅳ)
- Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur´an) to make haste therewith. (Ⅵ)
75. 17  
Surely it is for Us to collect it and to recite (or enact) it.
- Inna AAalayna jamAAahu waquranahu (Ⅰ)
- Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. (Ⅱ)
- Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ (Ⅳ)
- It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: (Ⅵ)
75. 18  
Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation.
- Faitha qaranahu faittabiAA quranahu (Ⅰ)
- And when We read it, follow thou the reading; (Ⅱ)
- So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. (Ⅲ)
- فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ (Ⅳ)
- But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): (Ⅵ)
75. 19  
Nay, more, it is for Us to explain (and clarify) it.
- Thumma inna AAalayna bayanahu (Ⅰ)
- Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. (Ⅱ)
- Then Ours it is to explain it. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): (Ⅵ)
75. 20  
Nay! But you do love the fleeting Now,
- Kalla bal tuhibboona alAAajilata (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; but you love the hasty world, (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ (Ⅳ)
- Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, (Ⅵ)
75. 21  
And neglect the Hereafter.
- Watatharoona alakhirata (Ⅰ)
- And neglect the Hereafter. (Ⅱ)
- and leave be the Hereafter. (Ⅲ)
- وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ (Ⅳ)
- And leave alone the Hereafter. (Ⅵ)
75. 22  
Some faces on that Day shall be bright,
- Wujoohun yawmaithin nadiratun (Ⅰ)
- That day will faces be resplendent, (Ⅱ)
- Upon that day faces shall be radiant, (Ⅲ)
- وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- (Ⅵ)
75. 23  
Looking to their Lord.
- Ila rabbiha nathiratun (Ⅰ)
- Looking toward their Lord; (Ⅱ)
- gazing upon their Lord; (Ⅲ)
- إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Looking towards their Lord; (Ⅵ)
75. 24  
And other faces on that Day shall be gloomy,
- Wawujoohun yawmaithin basiratun (Ⅰ)
- And that day will other faces be despondent, (Ⅱ)
- and upon that day faces shall be scowling, (Ⅲ)
- وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, (Ⅵ)
75. 25  
Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity.
- Tathunnu an yufAAala biha faqiratun (Ⅰ)
- Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. (Ⅱ)
- thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. (Ⅲ)
- تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; (Ⅵ)
75. 26  
Nay! When the soul comes up to the throat,
- Kalla itha balaghati alttaraqiya (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ (Ⅳ)
- Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), (Ⅵ)
75. 27  
And it is said, "Who will be a magician (to restore him)?
- Waqeela man raqin (Ⅰ)
- And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now) ? (Ⅱ)
- and it is said, ´Who is an enchanter?´ (Ⅲ)
- وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ (Ⅳ)
- And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" (Ⅵ)
75. 28  
And he is sure that it is the time of parting
- Wathanna annahu alfiraqu (Ⅰ)
- And he knoweth that it is the parting; (Ⅱ)
- and he thinks that it is the parting (Ⅲ)
- وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ (Ⅳ)
- And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; (Ⅵ)
75. 29  
And one leg will be tied to another (i.e. after death);
- Wailtaffati alssaqu bialssaqi (Ⅰ)
- And agony is heaped on agony; (Ⅱ)
- and leg is intertwined with leg, (Ⅲ)
- وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ (Ⅳ)
- And one leg will be joined with another: (Ⅵ)
75. 30  
To your Lord on that day shall be the driving.
- Ila rabbika yawmaithin almasaqu (Ⅰ)
- Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. (Ⅱ)
- upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. (Ⅲ)
- إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ (Ⅳ)
- That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! (Ⅵ)
75. 31  
So he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray,
- Fala saddaqa wala salla (Ⅰ)
- For he neither trusted, nor prayed. (Ⅱ)
- For he confirmed it not, and did not pray, (Ⅲ)
- فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!- (Ⅵ)
75. 32  
But called the truth a lie and turned back,
- Walakin kaththaba watawalla (Ⅰ)
- But he denied and flouted. (Ⅱ)
- but he cried it lies, and he turned away, (Ⅲ)
- وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away! (Ⅵ)
75. 33  
Then he went to his folk, arrogant.
- Thumma thahaba ila ahlihi yatamatta (Ⅰ)
- Then went he to his folk with glee. (Ⅱ)
- then he went to his household arrogantly. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit! (Ⅵ)
75. 34  
Nearer unto you and nearer (comes the doom),
- Awla laka faawla (Ⅰ)
- Nearer unto thee and nearer, (Ⅱ)
- Nearer to thee and nearer (Ⅲ)
- أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! (Ⅵ)
75. 35  
Again, nearer unto you and nearer (comes the doom).
- Thumma awla laka faawla (Ⅰ)
- Again nearer unto thee and nearer (is the doom). (Ⅱ)
- then nearer to thee and nearer! (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Again, Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! (Ⅵ)
75. 36  
Does man think that he is to be left to wander aimless (or purposeless)?
- Ayahsabu alinsanu an yutraka sudan (Ⅰ)
- Thinketh man that he is to be left aimless ? (Ⅱ)
- What, does man reckon he shall be left to roam at will? (Ⅲ)
- أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى (Ⅳ)
- Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)? (Ⅵ)
75. 37  
Was he not a small seed in the seminal elements,
- Alam yaku nutfatan min manayyin yumna (Ⅰ)
- Was he not a drop of fluid which gushed forth ? (Ⅱ)
- Was he not a sperm-drop spilled? (Ⅲ)
- أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? (Ⅵ)
75. 38  
Then he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect.
- Thumma kana AAalaqatan fakhalaqa fasawwa (Ⅰ)
- Then he became a clot; then (Allah) shaped and fashioned (Ⅱ)
- Then he was a blood-clot, and He created and formed, (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. (Ⅵ)
75. 39  
Then He made of him two kinds, the male and the female.
- FajaAAala minhu alzzawjayni alththakara waalontha (Ⅰ)
- And made of him a pair, the male and female. (Ⅱ)
- and He made of him two kinds, male and female. (Ⅲ)
- فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And of him He made two sexes, male and female. (Ⅵ)
75. 40  
Is not He able to give life to the dead?
- Alaysa thalika biqadirin AAala an yuhyiya almawta (Ⅰ)
- Is not He (Who doeth so) Able to bring the dead to life ? (Ⅱ)
- What, is He not able to quicken the dead? (Ⅲ)
- أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead? (Ⅵ)
