75. 0  
Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
75. 1  
No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection.
- La oqsimu biyawmi alqiyamati (Ⅰ)
- Nay! I swear by (or call to witness) the Day of Resurrection. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ (Ⅳ)
- I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; (Ⅵ)
75. 2  
No! I swear by the reproachful soul.
- Wala oqsimu bialnnafsi allawwamati (Ⅰ)
- Nay! I swear by (or call to witness) the self-accusing soul. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). (Ⅲ)
- وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ (Ⅳ)
- And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). (Ⅵ)
75. 3  
What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones?
- Ayahsabu alinsanu allan najmaAAa AAithamahu (Ⅰ)
- Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? (Ⅱ)
- Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones ? (Ⅲ)
- أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? (Ⅵ)
75. 4  
Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers.
- Bala qadireena AAala an nusawwiya bananahu (Ⅰ)
- Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips (Ⅱ)
- Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! (Ⅲ)
- بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. (Ⅵ)
75. 5  
Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine,
- Bal yureedu alinsanu liyafjura amamahu (Ⅰ)
- Nay! Man desires to give the lie to what is before him. (Ⅱ)
- But man would fain deny what is before him. (Ⅲ)
- بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ (Ⅳ)
- But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. (Ⅵ)
75. 6  
asking, ´When shall be the Day of Resurrection?´
- Yasalu ayyana yawmu alqiyamati (Ⅰ)
- He asks, "When is the day of resurrection?" (Ⅱ)
- He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection ? (Ⅲ)
- يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ (Ⅳ)
- He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" (Ⅵ)
75. 7  
But when the sight is dazed
- Faitha bariqa albasaru (Ⅰ)
- So when the sight becomes dazzled, (Ⅱ)
- But when sight is confounded (Ⅲ)
- فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ (Ⅳ)
- At length, when the sight is dazed, (Ⅵ)
75. 8  
and the moon is eclipsed,
- Wakhasafa alqamaru (Ⅰ)
- And the moon becomes dark, (Ⅱ)
- And the moon is eclipsed (Ⅲ)
- وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ (Ⅳ)
- And the moon is buried in darkness. (Ⅵ)
75. 9  
and the sun and moon are brought together,
- WajumiAAa alshshamsu waalqamaru (Ⅰ)
- And the sun and the moon are brought together, (Ⅱ)
- And sun and moon are united, (Ⅲ)
- وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ (Ⅳ)
- And the sun and moon are joined together,- (Ⅵ)
75. 10  
upon that day man shall say, ´Whither to flee?´
- Yaqoolu alinsanu yawmaithin ayna almafarru (Ⅰ)
- Man shall say on that day, "Whither can I flee for refuge?" (Ⅱ)
- On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! (Ⅲ)
- يَقُولُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ (Ⅳ)
- That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" (Ⅵ)
75. 11  
No indeed; not a refuge!
- Kalla la wazara (Ⅰ)
- By no means! There shall be no place of refuge! (Ⅱ)
- Alas! No refuge! (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ (Ⅳ)
- By no means! No place of safety! (Ⅵ)
75. 12  
Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord.
- Ila rabbika yawmaithin almustaqarru (Ⅰ)
- With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. (Ⅱ)
- Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. (Ⅲ)
- إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ (Ⅳ)
- Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. (Ⅵ)
75. 13  
Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter;
- Yunabbao alinsanu yawmaithin bima qaddama waakhkhara (Ⅰ)
- Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and what he put off. (Ⅱ)
- On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. (Ⅲ)
- يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ (Ⅳ)
- That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. (Ⅵ)
75. 14  
nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself,
- Bali alinsanu AAala nafsihi baseeratun (Ⅰ)
- Nay! Man is telling evidence against himself, (Ⅱ)
- Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, (Ⅲ)
- بَلِ الْإِنسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Nay, man will be evidence against himself, (Ⅵ)
75. 15  
even though he offer his excuses.
- Walaw alqa maAAatheerahu (Ⅰ)
- Though he puts forth his excuses. (Ⅱ)
- Although he tender his excuses. (Ⅲ)
- وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Even though he were to put up his excuses. (Ⅵ)
75. 16  
Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it;
- La tuharrik bihi lisanaka litaAAjala bihi (Ⅰ)
- Move not your tongue with it (the Quran) to make haste with it, (Ⅱ)
- Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. (Ⅲ)
- لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ (Ⅳ)
- Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur´an) to make haste therewith. (Ⅵ)
75. 17  
Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it.
- Inna AAalayna jamAAahu waquranahu (Ⅰ)
- Surely it is for Us to collect it and to recite (or enact) it. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ (Ⅳ)
- It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: (Ⅵ)
75. 18  
So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation.
- Faitha qaranahu faittabiAA quranahu (Ⅰ)
- Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. (Ⅱ)
- And when We read it, follow thou the reading; (Ⅲ)
- فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ (Ⅳ)
- But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): (Ⅵ)
75. 19  
Then Ours it is to explain it.
- Thumma inna AAalayna bayanahu (Ⅰ)
- Nay, more, it is for Us to explain (and clarify) it. (Ⅱ)
- Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ (Ⅳ)
- Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): (Ⅵ)
75. 20  
No indeed; but you love the hasty world,
- Kalla bal tuhibboona alAAajilata (Ⅰ)
- Nay! But you do love the fleeting Now, (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ (Ⅳ)
- Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, (Ⅵ)
75. 21  
and leave be the Hereafter.
- Watatharoona alakhirata (Ⅰ)
- And neglect the Hereafter. (Ⅱ)
- And neglect the Hereafter. (Ⅲ)
- وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ (Ⅳ)
- And leave alone the Hereafter. (Ⅵ)
75. 22  
Upon that day faces shall be radiant,
- Wujoohun yawmaithin nadiratun (Ⅰ)
- Some faces on that Day shall be bright, (Ⅱ)
- That day will faces be resplendent, (Ⅲ)
- وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- (Ⅵ)
75. 23  
gazing upon their Lord;
- Ila rabbiha nathiratun (Ⅰ)
- Looking to their Lord. (Ⅱ)
- Looking toward their Lord; (Ⅲ)
- إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- Looking towards their Lord; (Ⅵ)
75. 24  
and upon that day faces shall be scowling,
- Wawujoohun yawmaithin basiratun (Ⅰ)
- And other faces on that Day shall be gloomy, (Ⅱ)
- And that day will other faces be despondent, (Ⅲ)
- وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, (Ⅵ)
75. 25  
thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them.
- Tathunnu an yufAAala biha faqiratun (Ⅰ)
- Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. (Ⅱ)
- Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. (Ⅲ)
- تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ (Ⅳ)
- In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; (Ⅵ)
75. 26  
No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles
- Kalla itha balaghati alttaraqiya (Ⅰ)
- Nay! When the soul comes up to the throat, (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ (Ⅳ)
- Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), (Ⅵ)
75. 27  
and it is said, ´Who is an enchanter?´
- Waqeela man raqin (Ⅰ)
- And it is said, "Who will be a magician (to restore him)? (Ⅱ)
- And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now) ? (Ⅲ)
- وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ (Ⅳ)
- And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" (Ⅵ)
75. 28  
and he thinks that it is the parting
- Wathanna annahu alfiraqu (Ⅰ)
- And he is sure that it is the time of parting (Ⅱ)
- And he knoweth that it is the parting; (Ⅲ)
- وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ (Ⅳ)
- And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; (Ⅵ)
75. 29  
and leg is intertwined with leg,
- Wailtaffati alssaqu bialssaqi (Ⅰ)
- And one leg will be tied to another (i.e. after death); (Ⅱ)
- And agony is heaped on agony; (Ⅲ)
- وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ (Ⅳ)
- And one leg will be joined with another: (Ⅵ)
75. 30  
upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving.
- Ila rabbika yawmaithin almasaqu (Ⅰ)
- To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. (Ⅱ)
- Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. (Ⅲ)
- إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ (Ⅳ)
- That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! (Ⅵ)
75. 31  
For he confirmed it not, and did not pray,
- Fala saddaqa wala salla (Ⅰ)
- So he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray, (Ⅱ)
- For he neither trusted, nor prayed. (Ⅲ)
- فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!- (Ⅵ)
75. 32  
but he cried it lies, and he turned away,
- Walakin kaththaba watawalla (Ⅰ)
- But called the truth a lie and turned back, (Ⅱ)
- But he denied and flouted. (Ⅲ)
- وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away! (Ⅵ)
75. 33  
then he went to his household arrogantly.
- Thumma thahaba ila ahlihi yatamatta (Ⅰ)
- Then he went to his folk, arrogant. (Ⅱ)
- Then went he to his folk with glee. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit! (Ⅵ)
75. 34  
Nearer to thee and nearer
- Awla laka faawla (Ⅰ)
- Nearer unto you and nearer (comes the doom), (Ⅱ)
- Nearer unto thee and nearer, (Ⅲ)
- أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! (Ⅵ)
75. 35  
then nearer to thee and nearer!
- Thumma awla laka faawla (Ⅰ)
- Again, nearer unto you and nearer (comes the doom). (Ⅱ)
- Again nearer unto thee and nearer (is the doom). (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Again, Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! (Ⅵ)
75. 36  
What, does man reckon he shall be left to roam at will?
- Ayahsabu alinsanu an yutraka sudan (Ⅰ)
- Does man think that he is to be left to wander aimless (or purposeless)? (Ⅱ)
- Thinketh man that he is to be left aimless ? (Ⅲ)
- أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى (Ⅳ)
- Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)? (Ⅵ)
75. 37  
Was he not a sperm-drop spilled?
- Alam yaku nutfatan min manayyin yumna (Ⅰ)
- Was he not a small seed in the seminal elements, (Ⅱ)
- Was he not a drop of fluid which gushed forth ? (Ⅲ)
- أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? (Ⅵ)
75. 38  
Then he was a blood-clot, and He created and formed,
- Thumma kana AAalaqatan fakhalaqa fasawwa (Ⅰ)
- Then he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect. (Ⅱ)
- Then he became a clot; then (Allah) shaped and fashioned (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. (Ⅵ)
75. 39  
and He made of him two kinds, male and female.
- FajaAAala minhu alzzawjayni alththakara waalontha (Ⅰ)
- Then He made of him two kinds, the male and the female. (Ⅱ)
- And made of him a pair, the male and female. (Ⅲ)
- فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- And of him He made two sexes, male and female. (Ⅵ)
75. 40  
What, is He not able to quicken the dead?
- Alaysa thalika biqadirin AAala an yuhyiya almawta (Ⅰ)
- Is not He able to give life to the dead? (Ⅱ)
- Is not He (Who doeth so) Able to bring the dead to life ? (Ⅲ)
- أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَىٰ (Ⅳ)
- Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead? (Ⅵ)
