In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

91.
1
By the sun and his brightness,
- Waalshshamsi waduhaha (Ⅰ) - By the sun and its noonday brightness! (Ⅱ) - By the sun and his morning brightness (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; (Ⅵ)

And the moon when she followeth him,
- Waalqamari itha talaha (Ⅰ) - And the moon when it follows him! (Ⅱ) - and by the moon when she follows him, (Ⅲ) - وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Moon as she follows him; (Ⅵ)

And the day when it revealeth him,
- Waalnnahari itha jallaha (Ⅰ) - And the day when it displays him! (Ⅱ) - and by the day when it displays him (Ⅲ) - وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Day as it shows up (the Sun´s) glory; (Ⅵ)

And the night when it enshroudeth him,
- Waallayli itha yaghshaha (Ⅰ) - And the night when it covers him! (Ⅱ) - and by the night when it enshrouds him! (Ⅲ) - وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Night as it conceals it; (Ⅵ)

And the heaven and Him Who built it,
- Waalssamai wama banaha (Ⅰ) - And the wondrous structure of the heavens and Him who built it! (Ⅱ) - By the heaven and That which built it (Ⅲ) - وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; (Ⅵ)

And the earth and Him Who spread it,
- Waalardi wama tahaha (Ⅰ) - And the earth and Who spread it! (Ⅱ) - and by the earth and That which extended it! (Ⅲ) - وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: (Ⅵ)

And a soul and Him Who perfected it
- Wanafsin wama sawwaha (Ⅰ) - And the soul and Who fashioned it, (Ⅱ) - By the soul, and That which shaped it (Ⅲ) - وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا (Ⅳ) - By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; (Ⅵ)

And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.
- Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha (Ⅰ) - And enlightened it with what is wrong and right for it! (Ⅱ) - and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! (Ⅲ) - فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا (Ⅳ) - And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- (Ⅵ)

He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow,
- Qad aflaha man zakkaha (Ⅰ) - He indeed is successful who causes it to grow (or purifies it)! (Ⅱ) - Prosperous is he who purifies it, (Ⅲ) - قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّاهَا (Ⅳ) - Truly he succeeds that purifies it, (Ⅵ)

And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it.
- Waqad khaba man dassaha (Ⅰ) - And he indeed is a failure who corrupts it! (Ⅱ) - and failed has he who seduces it. (Ⅲ) - وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّاهَا (Ⅳ) - And he fails that corrupts it! (Ⅵ)

(The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride,
- Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha (Ⅰ) - The Thamud people denied (the Messenger) in their rebellious pride (or outrage), (Ⅱ) - Thamood cried lies in their insolence (Ⅲ) - كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا (Ⅳ) - The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, (Ⅵ)

When the basest of them broke forth
- Ithi inbaAAatha ashqaha (Ⅰ) - When the basest of them rose up (Ⅱ) - when the most wretched of them uprose, (Ⅲ) - إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا (Ⅳ) - Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). (Ⅵ)

And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink!
- Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqata Allahi wasuqyaha (Ⅰ) - And the Messenger of Allah (Salih) said to them, "(This is) Allah´s she-camel! So give her to drink." (Ⅱ) - then the Messenger of God said to them, ´The She-camel of God; let her drink!´ (Ⅲ) - فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا (Ⅳ) - But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" (Ⅵ)

But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings).
- Fakaththaboohu faAAaqarooha fadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha (Ⅰ) - But they called him a liar, and they ham-strung her; so their Lord destroyed them in their sins, and served them all alike; (Ⅱ) - But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: (Ⅲ) - فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا (Ⅳ) - Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! (Ⅵ)

He dreadeth not the sequel (of events).
- Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha (Ⅰ) - And He fears not the result thereof! (Ⅱ) - and He fears not the issue thereof. (Ⅲ) - وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا (Ⅳ) - And for Him is no fear of its consequences. (Ⅵ)
