Postquam autem hæc completa sunt, accesserunt ad me principes, dicentes : Non est separatus populus Israël, sacerdotes et Levitæ, a populis terrarum et abominationibus eorum : Chananæi videlicet, et Hethæi, et Pherezæi, et Jebusæi, et Ammonitarum, et Moabitarum, et Ægyptiorum, et Amorrhæorum :
- Après que cela fut terminé, les chefs s'approchèrent de moi, en disant: Le peuple d'Israël, les sacrificateurs et les Lévites ne se sont point séparés des peuples de ces pays, et ils imitent leurs abominations, celles des Cananéens, des Héthiens, des Phéréziens, des Jébusiens, des Ammonites, des Moabites, des Égyptiens et des Amoréens. (Ⅱ) - Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. (Ⅲ) - 1 ׃9 וככלות אלה נגשו אלי השרים לאמר לא נבדלו העם ישראל והכהנים והלוים מעמי הארצות כתועבתיהם לכנעני החתי הפרזי היבוסי העמני המאבי המצרי והאמרי (Ⅴ)

tulerunt enim de filiabus eorum sibi et filiis suis, et commiscuerunt semen sanctum cum populis terrarum : manus etiam principum et magistratuum fuit in transgressione hac prima.
- Car ils ont pris de leurs filles pour eux et pour leurs fils, et ont mêlé la race sainte avec les peuples de ces pays; et les chefs et les magistrats ont été les premiers à commettre ce péché. (Ⅱ) - For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. (Ⅲ) - 2 ׃9 כי נשאו מבנתיהם להם ולבניהם והתערבו זרע הקדש בעמי הארצות ויד השרים והסגנים היתה במעל הזה ראשונה ס (Ⅴ)

Cumque audissem sermonem istum, scidi pallium meum et tunicam, et evelli capillos capitis mei et barbæ, et sedi mœrens.
- Lorsque j'entendis cela, je déchirai mes vêtements et mon manteau, je m'arrachai les cheveux de la tête et les poils de la barbe, et je m'assis désolé. (Ⅱ) - And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied. (Ⅲ) - 3 ׃9 וכשמעי את הדבר הזה קרעתי את בגדי ומעילי ואמרטה משער ראשי וזקני ואשבה משומם (Ⅴ)

Convenerunt autem ad me omnes qui timebant verbum Dei Israël, pro transgressione eorum qui de captivitate venerant, et ego sedebam tristis usque ad sacrificium vespertinum :
- Auprès de moi s'assemblèrent tous ceux que faisaient trembler les paroles du Dieu d'Israël, à cause du péché des fils de la captivité; et moi, je restai assis et désolé, jusqu'à l'offrande du soir. (Ⅱ) - Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice. (Ⅲ) - 4 ׃9 ואלי יאספו כל חרד בדברי אלהי ישראל על מעל הגולה ואני ישב משומם עד למנחת הערב (Ⅴ)

et in sacrificio vespertino, surrexi de afflictione mea, et scisso pallio et tunica, curvavi genua mea, et expandi manus meas ad Dominum Deum meum.\
- Puis, au moment de l'offrande du soir, je me levai du sein de mon humiliation, avec mes vêtements et mon manteau déchirés, je tombai à genoux, j'étendis les mains vers l'Éternel, mon Dieu, (Ⅱ) - And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God, (Ⅲ) - 5 ׃9 ובמנחת הערב קמתי מתעניתי ובקרעי בגדי ומעילי ואכרעה על ברכי ואפרשה כפי אל יהוה אלהי (Ⅴ)

Et dixi : Deus meus, confundor et erubesco levare faciem meam ad te : quoniam iniquitates nostræ multiplicatæ sunt super caput nostrum, et delicta nostra creverunt usque ad cælum,
- et je dis: Mon Dieu, je suis dans la confusion, et j'ai honte, ô mon Dieu, de lever ma face vers toi; car nos iniquités se sont multipliées par-dessus nos têtes, et nos fautes ont atteint jusqu'aux cieux. (Ⅱ) - And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. (Ⅲ) - 6 ׃9 ואמרה אלהי בשתי ונכלמתי להרים אלהי פני אליך כי עונתינו רבו למעלה ראש ואשמתנו גדלה עד לשמים (Ⅴ)

a diebus patrum nostrorum : sed et nos ipsi peccavimus graviter usque ad diem hanc, et in iniquitatibus nostris traditi sumus ipsi, et reges nostri, et sacerdotes nostri, in manum regum terrarum, et in gladium, et in captivitatem, et in rapinam, et in confusionem vultus, sicut et die hac.
- Depuis les jours de nos pères nous avons été grandement coupables jusqu'à ce jour, et c'est à cause de nos iniquités que nous avons été livrés, nous, nos rois et nos sacrificateurs, aux mains des rois étrangers, à l'épée, à la captivité, au pillage, et à la honte qui couvre aujourd'hui notre visage. (Ⅱ) - Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. (Ⅲ) - 7 ׃9 מימי אבתינו אנחנו באשמה גדלה עד היום הזה ובעונתינו נתנו אנחנו מלכינו כהנינו ביד מלכי הארצות בחרב בשבי ובבזה ובבשת פנים כהיום הזה (Ⅴ)

Et nunc quasi parum et ad momentum facta est deprecatio nostra apud Dominum Deum nostrum, ut dimitterentur nobis reliquiæ, et daretur nobis paxillus in loco sancto ejus, et illuminaret oculos nostros Deus noster, et daret nobis vitam modicam in servitute nostra :
- Et cependant l'Éternel, notre Dieu, vient de nous faire grâce en nous laissant quelques réchappés et en nous accordant un abri dans son saint lieu, afin d'éclaircir nos yeux et de nous donner un peu de vie au milieu de notre servitude. (Ⅱ) - And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. (Ⅲ) - 8 ׃9 ועתה כמעט רגע היתה תחנה מאת יהוה אלהינו להשאיר לנו פליטה ולתת לנו יתד במקום קדשו להאיר עינינו אלהינו ולתתנו מחיה מעט בעבדתנו (Ⅴ)

quia servi sumus, et in servitute nostra non dereliquit nos Deus noster, sed inclinavit super nos misericordiam coram rege Persarum, ut daret nobis vitam, et sublimaret domum Dei nostri, et exstrueret solitudines ejus, et daret nobis sepem in Juda et Jerusalem.\
- Car nous sommes esclaves, mais Dieu ne nous a pas abandonnés dans notre servitude. Il nous a rendus les objets de la bienveillance des rois de Perse, pour nous conserver la vie afin que nous puissions bâtir la maison de notre Dieu et en relever les ruines, et pour nous donner une retraite en Juda et à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ) - For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem. (Ⅲ) - 9 ׃9 כי עבדים אנחנו ובעבדתנו[C][C][c] לא עזבנו אלהינו ויט עלינו חסד לפני מלכי פרס לתת לנו מחיה לרומם את בית אלהינו ולהעמיד את חרבתיו ולתת לנו גדר ביהודה ובירושלם ס (Ⅴ)

Et nunc quid dicemus, Deus noster, post hæc ? Quia dereliquimus mandata tua,
- Maintenant, que dirons-nous après cela, ô notre Dieu? Car nous avons abandonné tes commandements, (Ⅱ) - And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments, (Ⅲ) - 10 ׃9 ועתה מה נאמר אלהינו אחרי זאת כי עזבנו מצותיך (Ⅴ)

quæ præcepisti in manu servorum tuorum prophetarum, dicens : Terra, ad quam vos ingredimini ut possideatis eam, terra immunda est juxta immunditiam populorum, ceterarumque terrarum, abominationibus eorum qui repleverunt eam ab ore usque ad os in coinquinatione sua.
- que tu nous avais prescrits par tes serviteurs les prophètes, en disant: Le pays dans lequel vous entrez pour le posséder est un pays souillé par les impuretés des peuples de ces contrées, par les abominations dont ils l'ont rempli d'un bout à l'autre avec leurs impuretés; (Ⅱ) - Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness. (Ⅲ) - 11 ׃9 אשר צוית ביד עבדיך הנביאים לאמר הארץ אשר אתם באים לרשתה ארץ נדה היא בנדת עמי הארצות בתועבתיהם אשר מלאוה מפה אל פה בטמאתם (Ⅴ)

Nunc ergo filias vestras ne detis filiis eorum, et filias eorum ne accipiatis filiis vestris, et non quæratis pacem eorum et prosperitatem eorum usque in æternum : ut confortemini, et comedatis quæ bona sunt terræ, et hæredes habeatis filios vestros usque in sæculum.
- ne donnez donc point vos filles à leurs fils et ne prenez point leurs filles pour vos fils, et n'ayez jamais souci ni de leur prospérité ni de leur bien-être, et ainsi vous deviendrez forts, vous mangerez les meilleures productions du pays, et vous le laisserez pour toujours en héritage à vos fils. (Ⅱ) - Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever. (Ⅲ) - 12 ׃9 ועתה בנותיכם אל תתנו לבניהם ובנתיהם אל תשאו לבניכם ולא תדרשו שלמם וטובתם עד עולם למען תחזקו ואכלתם את טוב הארץ והורשתם לבניכם עד עולם (Ⅴ)

Et post omnia quæ venerunt super nos in operibus nostris pessimis, et in delicto nostro magno, quia tu, Deus noster, liberasti nos de iniquitate nostra, et dedisti nobis salutem sicut est hodie,
- Après tout ce qui nous est arrivé à cause des mauvaises actions et des grandes fautes que nous avons commises, quoique tu ne nous aies pas, ô notre Dieu, punis en proportion de nos iniquités, et maintenant que tu nous as conservé ces réchappés, (Ⅱ) - And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this; (Ⅲ) - 13 ׃9 ואחרי כל הבא עלינו במעשינו הרעים ובאשמתנו הגדלה כי אתה אלהינו חשכת למטה מעוננו ונתתה לנו פליטה כזאת (Ⅴ)

ut non converteremur, et irrita faceremus mandata tua, neque matrimonia jungeremus cum populis abominationum istarum. Numquid iratus es nobis usque ad consummationem, ne dimitteres nobis reliquias ad salutem ?
- recommencerions-nous à violer tes commandements et à nous allier avec ces peuples abominables? Ta colère n'éclaterait-elle pas encore contre nous jusqu'à nous détruire, sans laisser ni reste ni réchappés? (Ⅱ) - Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping? (Ⅲ) - 14 ׃9 הנשוב להפר מצותיך ולהתחתן בעמי התעבות האלה הלוא תאנף בנו עד כלה לאין שארית ופליטה פ (Ⅴ)

Domine Deus Israël, justus es tu : quoniam derelicti sumus, qui salvaremur sicut die hac. Ecce coram te sumus in delicto nostro : non enim stari potest coram te super hoc.
- Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, tu es juste, car nous sommes aujourd'hui un reste de réchappés. Nous voici devant toi comme des coupables, et nous ne saurions ainsi subsister devant ta face. (Ⅱ) - O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this. (Ⅲ) - 15 ׃9 יהוה אלהי ישראל צדיק אתה כי נשארנו פליטה כהיום הזה הננו לפניך באשמתינו כי אין לעמוד לפניך על זאת פ (Ⅴ)
