They said, "No matter! Verily, unto our Lord do we (or "will we" or "in any case") return!
- Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona (Ⅰ) - They said: It is no hurt, for lo! unto our Lord we shall return. (Ⅱ) - They said, ´There is no harm; surely unto our Lord we are turning. (Ⅲ) - قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ (Ⅳ) - They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord! (Ⅵ)

"Verily, we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, for we are the foremost of believers!"
- Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineena (Ⅰ) - Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers. (Ⅱ) - We are eager that our Lord should forgive us our offences, for that we are the first of the believers.´ (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (Ⅳ) - "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!" (Ⅵ)

And We inspired Moses, saying, "Journey by night with my servants; verily, you are pursued."
- Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoona (Ⅰ) - And We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night, for ye will be pursued. (Ⅱ) - Also We revealed unto Moses, ´Go with My servants by night; surely you will be followed.´ (Ⅲ) - ۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ (Ⅳ) - By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued." (Ⅵ)

And Pharaoh sent into the cities summoners,
- Faarsala firAAawnu fee almadaini hashireena (Ⅰ) - Then Pharaoh sent into the cities summoners, (Ⅱ) - Then Pharaoh sent among the cities musterers: (Ⅲ) - فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ (Ⅳ) - Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities, (Ⅵ)

(Who said) "Verily, these are a small company.
- Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona (Ⅰ) - (Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop, (Ⅱ) - ´Behold, these are a small troop, (Ⅲ) - إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ (Ⅳ) - (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band, (Ⅵ)

"And, verily, they are offenders against us;
- Wainnahum lana laghaithoona (Ⅰ) - And lo! they are offenders against us. (Ⅱ) - and indeed they are enraging us; (Ⅲ) - وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ (Ⅳ) - "And they are raging furiously against us; (Ⅵ)

"But we are a multitude and wary.
- Wainna lajameeAAun hathiroona (Ⅰ) - And lo! we are a ready host. (Ⅱ) - and we are a host on our guard.´ (Ⅲ) - وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ (Ⅳ) - "But we are a multitude amply fore-warned." (Ⅵ)

(") So we (or We) expelled them out of gardens and springs,
- Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waAAuyoonin (Ⅰ) - Thus did We take them away from gardens and watersprings, (Ⅱ) - So We expelled them from gardens and fountains, (Ⅲ) - فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ (Ⅳ) - So We expelled them from gardens, springs, (Ⅵ)

(") And treasures, and noble positions.(")
- Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin (Ⅰ) - And treasures and a fair estate. (Ⅱ) - and treasures and a noble station; (Ⅲ) - وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ (Ⅳ) - Treasures, and every kind of honourable position; (Ⅵ)

Thus it was, but We made the children of Israel inheritors of these things.
- Kathalika waawrathnaha banee israeela (Ⅰ) - Thus (were those things taken from them) and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit them. (Ⅱ) - even so, and We bequeathed them upon the Children of Israel. (Ⅲ) - كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ (Ⅳ) - Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things. (Ⅵ)

And they pursued them at dawn;
- FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeena (Ⅰ) - And they overtook them at sunrise. (Ⅱ) - Then they followed them at the sunrise; (Ⅲ) - فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ (Ⅳ) - So they pursued them at sunrise. (Ⅵ)

And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Moses said, "Verily, we are overtaken!"
- Falamma taraa aljamAAani qala ashabu moosa inna lamudrakoona (Ⅰ) - And when the two hosts saw each other, those with Moses said: Lo! we are indeed caught. (Ⅱ) - and, when the two hosts sighted each other, the companions of Moses said, ´We are overtaken!´ (Ⅲ) - فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ (Ⅳ) - And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken." (Ⅵ)

Said he, "Not so; verily, my Lord is with me. He will guide me."
- Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbee sayahdeeni (Ⅰ) - He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me. (Ⅱ) - Said he, ´No indeed; surely my Lord is with me; He will guide me.´ (Ⅲ) - قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ (Ⅳ) - (Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!" (Ⅵ)

And We inspired Moses, saying, "Strike the sea with your rod." And it was cleft asunder, and each part was like a mighty mountain.
- Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi (Ⅰ) - Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast. (Ⅱ) - Then We revealed to Moses, ´Strike with thy staff the sea´; and it clave, and each part was as a mighty mount. (Ⅲ) - فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain. (Ⅵ)

And then We brought the others thither.
- Waazlafna thamma alakhareena (Ⅰ) - Then brought We near the others to that place. (Ⅱ) - And there We brought the others on, (Ⅲ) - وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ (Ⅳ) - And We made the other party approach thither. (Ⅵ)

And We saved Moses and those with him, every one;
- Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahu ajmaAAeena (Ⅰ) - And We saved Moses and those with him, every one; (Ⅱ) - and We delivered Moses and those with him all together; (Ⅲ) - وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ (Ⅳ) - We delivered Moses and all who were with him; (Ⅵ)

We drowned the others.
- Thumma aghraqna alakhareena (Ⅰ) - And We drowned the others. (Ⅱ) - then We drowned the others. (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ (Ⅳ) - But We drowned the others. (Ⅵ)

Lo! Herein is indeed a sign: but most of them are not believers.
- Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena (Ⅰ) - Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. (Ⅱ) - Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. (Ⅲ) - إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ (Ⅳ) - Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. (Ⅵ)

And, verily, your Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful.
- Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu (Ⅰ) - And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. (Ⅲ) - وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ (Ⅳ) - And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. (Ⅵ)

And recite unto them the story of Abraham;
- Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheema (Ⅰ) - Recite unto them the story of Abraham: (Ⅱ) - And recite to them the tiding of Abraham (Ⅲ) - وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ (Ⅳ) - And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham´s story. (Ⅵ)

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
- Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi ma taAAbudoona (Ⅰ) - When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye ? (Ⅱ) - when he said to his father and his people, ´What do you serve?´ (Ⅲ) - إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ (Ⅳ) - Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" (Ⅵ)

They said, "We worship idols, and we are devoted to them."
- Qaloo naAAbudu asnaman fanathallu laha AAakifeena (Ⅰ) - They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. (Ⅱ) - They said, ´We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. (Ⅲ) - قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ (Ⅳ) - They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." (Ⅵ)

He said, "Can they hear you when you call?
- Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ith tadAAoona (Ⅰ) - He said: Do they hear you when ye cry ? (Ⅱ) - He said, ´Do they hear you when you call, (Ⅲ) - قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ (Ⅳ) - He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" (Ⅵ)

"Or benefit you, or harm you?"
- Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroona (Ⅰ) - Or do they benefit or harm you ? (Ⅱ) - or do they profit you, or harm?´ (Ⅲ) - أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ (Ⅳ) - "Or do you good or harm?" (Ⅵ)

They said, "No; but we found our fathers doing thus."
- Qaloo bal wajadna abaana kathalika yafAAaloona (Ⅰ) - They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. (Ⅱ) - They said, ´Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.´ (Ⅲ) - قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ (Ⅳ) - They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." (Ⅵ)

He said, "Have you considered that which you worship (or serve),
- Qala afaraaytum ma kuntum taAAbudoona (Ⅰ) - He said: See now that which ye worship, (Ⅱ) - He said, ´And have you considered what you have been serving, (Ⅲ) - قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ (Ⅳ) - He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- (Ⅵ)

"You and your forefathers?
- Antum waabaokumu alaqdamoona (Ⅰ) - Ye and your forefathers! (Ⅱ) - you and your fathers, the elders? (Ⅲ) - أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ (Ⅳ) - "Ye and your fathers before you?- (Ⅵ)

"Verily, they are foes unto me, save only the Lord of the Worlds,
- Fainnahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabba alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, (Ⅱ) - They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being (Ⅲ) - فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Ⅳ) - "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; (Ⅵ)

"Who created me and does guide me,
- Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeeni (Ⅰ) - Who created me, and He doth guide me, (Ⅱ) - who created me, and Himself guides me, (Ⅲ) - الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ (Ⅳ) - "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; (Ⅵ)

"And who feeds me food and waters me.
- Waallathee huwa yutAAimunee wayasqeeni (Ⅰ) - And Who feedeth me and watereth me. (Ⅱ) - and Himself gives me to eat and drink, (Ⅲ) - وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ (Ⅳ) - "Who gives me food and drink, (Ⅵ)

"And when I am sick He heals me;
- Waitha maridtu fahuwa yashfeeni (Ⅰ) - And when I sicken, then He healeth me, (Ⅱ) - and, whenever I am sick, heals me, (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ (Ⅳ) - "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; (Ⅵ)

"He who causes me to die, and then gives me life again,
- Waallathee yumeetunee thumma yuhyeeni (Ⅰ) - And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), (Ⅱ) - who makes me to die, then gives me life, (Ⅲ) - وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ (Ⅳ) - "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); (Ⅵ)

"And who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgment.
- Waallathee atmaAAu an yaghfira lee khateeatee yawma alddeeni (Ⅰ) - And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. (Ⅱ) - and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. (Ⅲ) - وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ) - "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. (Ⅵ)

"My Lord, grant me wisdom (or judgment), and let me join the righteous;
- Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena (Ⅰ) - My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. (Ⅱ) - My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, (Ⅲ) - رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ (Ⅳ) - "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; (Ⅵ)

"And give me a good report amongst the later generations;
- WaijAAal lee lisana sidqin fee alakhireena (Ⅰ) - And give unto me a good report in later generations. (Ⅱ) - and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. (Ⅲ) - وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ (Ⅳ) - "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); (Ⅵ)

"And place me among the heirs of the Garden of Delight,
- WaijAAalnee min warathati jannati alnnaAAeemi (Ⅰ) - And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, (Ⅱ) - Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss (Ⅲ) - وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ (Ⅳ) - "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; (Ⅵ)

"And forgive my father. Verily, he is of those who err;
- Waighfir liabee innahu kana mina alddalleena (Ⅰ) - And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. (Ⅱ) - and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. (Ⅲ) - وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ (Ⅳ) - "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; (Ⅵ)

"And disgrace me not on the Day when they are raised;
- Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoona (Ⅰ) - And abase me not on the day when they are raised, (Ⅱ) - Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, (Ⅲ) - وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ (Ⅳ) - "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- (Ⅵ)

"The Day when wealth shall profit not, nor sons,
- Yawma la yanfaAAu malun wala banoona (Ⅰ) - The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) (Ⅱ) - the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit (Ⅲ) - يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ (Ⅳ) - "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, (Ⅵ)

"But only he who comes to Allah with a whole (sound) heart.
- Illa man ata Allaha biqalbin saleemin (Ⅰ) - Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. (Ⅱ) - except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. (Ⅲ) - إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ (Ⅳ) - "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; (Ⅵ)

"And the Garden will be brought near to the righteous;
- Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeena (Ⅰ) - And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). (Ⅱ) - And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, (Ⅲ) - وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ (Ⅳ) - "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, (Ⅵ)

"And Hell shall be brought forth plainly to those who go astray,
- Waburrizati aljaheemu lilghaweena (Ⅰ) - And hell will appear plainly to the erring. (Ⅱ) - and Hell advanced for the perverse. (Ⅲ) - وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ (Ⅳ) - "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; (Ⅵ)

"And it will be said unto them, ´Where is all that you used to worship
- Waqeela lahum ayna ma kuntum taAAbudoona (Ⅰ) - And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship (Ⅱ) - It shall be said to them, ´Where is that you were serving (Ⅲ) - وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ (Ⅳ) - "And it shall be said to them: ´Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- (Ⅵ)

"Beside Allah? Can they help you, or help themselves?´
- Min dooni Allahi hal yansuroonakum aw yantasiroona (Ⅰ) - Instead of Allah ? Can they help you or help themselves ? (Ⅱ) - apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?´ (Ⅲ) - مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ (Ⅳ) - "´Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?´ (Ⅵ)

"Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seducers,
- Fakubkiboo feeha hum waalghawoona (Ⅰ) - Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers (Ⅱ) - Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse (Ⅲ) - فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ (Ⅳ) - "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, (Ⅵ)

"And the hosts of Iblis all together!
- Wajunoodu ibleesa ajmaAAoona (Ⅰ) - And the hosts of Iblis, together. (Ⅱ) - and the hosts of Iblis, all together. (Ⅲ) - وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ (Ⅳ) - "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. (Ⅵ)

"They shall say, while they quarrel therein,
- Qaloo wahum feeha yakhtasimoona (Ⅰ) - And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: (Ⅱ) - They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, (Ⅲ) - قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ (Ⅳ) - "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: (Ⅵ)

"´By Allah! In truth, we were in manifest error,
- TaAllahi in kunna lafee dalalin mubeenin (Ⅰ) - By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest (Ⅱ) - ´By God, we were certainly in manifest error (Ⅲ) - تَاللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ (Ⅳ) - "´By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, (Ⅵ)

"´When we made you equal to the Lord of the Worlds!
- Ith nusawweekum birabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. (Ⅱ) - when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. (Ⅲ) - إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Ⅳ) - "´When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; (Ⅵ)

"´It was only the guilty who led us astray.
- Wama adallana illa almujrimoona (Ⅰ) - It was but the guilty who misled us. (Ⅱ) - It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; (Ⅲ) - وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ (Ⅳ) - "´And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. (Ⅵ)
