فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
- Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona (Ⅰ) - Then shall some of them turn to others, questioning each other. (Ⅱ) - And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. (Ⅲ) - They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (Ⅳ) - Then they will turn to one another and question one another. (Ⅵ)

قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ
- Qala qailun minhum innee kana lee qareenun (Ⅰ) - A speaker from among them shall say, "Surely I had a comrade on earth, (Ⅱ) - A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade (Ⅲ) - One of them says, ´I had a comrade (Ⅳ) - One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), (Ⅵ)

يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ
- Yaqoolu ainnaka lamina almusaddiqeena (Ⅰ) - "Who said, ´What! are you indeed of those who bear witness to (the truth)? (Ⅱ) - Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words) ? (Ⅲ) - who would say, "Are you a confirmer? (Ⅳ) - "Who used to say, ´what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? (Ⅵ)

أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
- Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamadeenoona (Ⅰ) - "´What! When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, indeed, be brought to judgment?´" (Ⅱ) - Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book ? (Ⅲ) - What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" (Ⅳ) - "´When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?´" (Ⅵ)

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
- Qala hal antum muttaliAAoona (Ⅰ) - (A voice) Will say, "Will you look down?" (Ⅱ) - He saith: Will ye look ? (Ⅲ) - He says, ´Are you looking down?´ (Ⅳ) - (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" (Ⅵ)

فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ
- FaittalaAAa faraahu fee sawai aljaheemi (Ⅰ) - Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. (Ⅱ) - Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. (Ⅲ) - Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. (Ⅳ) - He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. (Ⅵ)

قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
- Qala taAllahi in kidta laturdeeni (Ⅰ) - He shall say (to the sceptic), "By Allah! You had almost caused me to perish; (Ⅱ) - He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, (Ⅲ) - He says, ´By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; (Ⅳ) - He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! (Ⅵ)

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ
- Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu mina almuhdareena (Ⅰ) - "And had it not been for the grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought there. (Ⅱ) - And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). (Ⅲ) - But for my Lord´s blessing, I were one of the arraigned. (Ⅳ) - "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! (Ⅵ)

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
- Afama nahnu bimayyiteena (Ⅰ) - "Is it then true that we shall not die, (Ⅱ) - Are we then not to die (Ⅲ) - What, do we then not die (Ⅳ) - "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, (Ⅵ)

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
- Illa mawtatana aloola wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena (Ⅰ) - "Except our previous death? And that we shall not be chastised?" (Ⅱ) - Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished ? (Ⅲ) - except for our first death, and are we not chastised? (Ⅳ) - "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" (Ⅵ)

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
- Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheemu (Ⅰ) - Most surely this is the supreme achievement. (Ⅱ) - Lo! this is the supreme triumph. (Ⅲ) - This is indeed the mighty triumph, (Ⅳ) - Verily this is the supreme achievement! (Ⅵ)

لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ
- Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloona (Ⅰ) - For the like of this then let the workers work. (Ⅱ) - For the like of this, then, let the workers work. (Ⅲ) - for the like of this let the workers work.´ (Ⅳ) - For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. (Ⅵ)

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ
- Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomi (Ⅰ) - Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (having bitter fruit)? (Ⅱ) - Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum ? (Ⅲ) - Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? (Ⅳ) - Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? (Ⅵ)

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّالِمِينَ
- Inna jaAAalnaha fitnatan lilththalimeena (Ⅰ) - Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. (Ⅱ) - Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. (Ⅲ) - We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. (Ⅳ) - For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. (Ⅵ)

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ
- Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemi (Ⅰ) - Surely it is a tree that grows in the bottom of hell; (Ⅱ) - Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. (Ⅲ) - It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; (Ⅳ) - For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: (Ⅵ)

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ
- TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeni (Ⅰ) - Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents (or devils). (Ⅱ) - Its crop is as it were the heads of devils (Ⅲ) - its spathes are as the heads of Satans, (Ⅳ) - The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: (Ⅵ)

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ
- Fainnahum laakiloona minha famalioona minha albutoona (Ⅰ) - Then verily, they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. (Ⅱ) - And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. (Ⅲ) - and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, (Ⅳ) - Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. (Ⅵ)

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
- Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawban min hameemin (Ⅰ) - Then afterwards they shall drink a mixture prepared in boiling water. (Ⅱ) - And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water (Ⅲ) - then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, (Ⅳ) - Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. (Ⅵ)

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ
- Thumma inna marjiAAahum laila aljaheemi (Ⅰ) - Then most surely their return shall be to hell. (Ⅱ) - And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. (Ⅲ) - then their return is unto Hell. (Ⅳ) - Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. (Ⅵ)

إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ
- Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleena (Ⅰ) - Certainly, they found their fathers going astray, (Ⅱ) - They indeed found their fathers astray, (Ⅲ) - They found their fathers erring, (Ⅳ) - Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; (Ⅵ)

فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
- Fahum AAala atharihim yuhraAAoona (Ⅰ) - So in their footsteps they hasten on. (Ⅱ) - But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. (Ⅲ) - and they run in their footsteps. (Ⅳ) - So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! (Ⅵ)

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
- Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharu alawwaleena (Ⅰ) - And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, (Ⅱ) - And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, (Ⅲ) - Before them erred most of the ancients, (Ⅳ) - And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- (Ⅵ)

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
- Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireena (Ⅰ) - And certainly We sent among them Warners. (Ⅱ) - And verily We sent among them warners. (Ⅲ) - and We sent among them warners; (Ⅳ) - But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- (Ⅵ)

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنذَرِينَ
- Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almunthareena (Ⅰ) - Then see what was the end of those who were warned, (Ⅱ) - Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, (Ⅲ) - and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, (Ⅳ) - Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- (Ⅵ)

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
- Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena (Ⅰ) - Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. (Ⅱ) - Save single-minded slaves of Allah. (Ⅲ) - except for God´s sincere servants. (Ⅳ) - Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. (Ⅵ)

75
وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ
- Walaqad nadana noohun falaniAAma almujeeboona (Ⅰ) - And Noah did certainly call upon Us, and the most gracious of Hearer of prayer are We. (Ⅱ) - And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer (Ⅲ) - Noah called to Us; and how excellent were the Answerers! (Ⅳ) - (In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. (Ⅵ)

وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ
- Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi (Ⅰ) - And We delivered him and his followers from the mighty distress. (Ⅱ) - And We saved him and his household from the great distress, (Ⅲ) - And We delivered him and his people from the great distress, (Ⅳ) - And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, (Ⅵ)

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ
- WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humu albaqeena (Ⅰ) - And We made his offspring the survivors. (Ⅱ) - And made his seed the survivors, (Ⅲ) - and We made his seed the survivors, (Ⅳ) - And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); (Ⅵ)

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
- Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena (Ⅰ) - And We perpetuated to him praise among the later generations, (Ⅱ) - And left for him among the later folk (the salutation): (Ⅲ) - and left for him among the later folk (Ⅳ) - And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: (Ⅵ)

سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ
- Salamun AAala noohin fee alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - (This blessing) "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations". (Ⅱ) - Peace be unto Noah among the peoples! (Ⅲ) - ´Peace be upon Noah among all beings!´ (Ⅳ) - "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!" (Ⅵ)

80
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
- Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena (Ⅰ) - Thus do We surely reward the doers of good. (Ⅱ) - Lo! thus do We reward the good. (Ⅲ) - Even so We recompense the good-doers; (Ⅳ) - Thus indeed do we reward those who do right. (Ⅵ)

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- Innahu min AAibadina almumineena (Ⅰ) - Surely he was of Our believing servants. (Ⅱ) - Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. (Ⅲ) - he was among Our believing servants. (Ⅳ) - For he was one of our believing Servants. (Ⅵ)

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
- Thumma aghraqna alakhareena (Ⅰ) - Then did We drown the others (Ⅱ) - Then We did drown the others. (Ⅲ) - Then afterwards We drowned the rest. (Ⅳ) - Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. (Ⅵ)

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ
- Wainna min sheeAAatihi laibraheema (Ⅰ) - And most surely Abraham followed his way. (Ⅱ) - And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham (Ⅲ) - Of his party was also Abraham; (Ⅳ) - Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. (Ⅵ)

إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
- Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbin saleemin (Ⅰ) - When he came to his Lord with a whole (sound, pure) heart, (Ⅱ) - When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart; (Ⅲ) - when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, (Ⅳ) - Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart. (Ⅵ)

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
- Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi matha taAAbudoona (Ⅰ) - When he said to his father and his people, " What is it that you worship?" (Ⅱ) - When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship ? (Ⅲ) - when he said to his father and his folk, ´What do you serve? (Ⅳ) - Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship? (Ⅵ)

أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
- Aifkan alihatan doona Allahi tureedoona (Ⅰ) - "Is it lies - gods besides Allah - that you desire? (Ⅱ) - Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire ? (Ⅲ) - Is it a calumny, gods apart from God, that you desire? (Ⅳ) - "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? (Ⅵ)

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
- Fama thannukum birabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - "What is then your idea about the Lord of the Worlds?" (Ⅱ) - What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds ? (Ⅲ) - What think you then of the Lord of all Being?´ (Ⅳ) - "Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?" (Ⅵ)

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ
- Fanathara nathratan fee alnnujoomi (Ⅰ) - Then he looked at the stars, looking up once, (Ⅱ) - And he glanced a glance at the stars (Ⅲ) - And he cast a glance at the stars, (Ⅳ) - Then did he cast a glance at the Stars. (Ⅵ)

فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ
- Faqala innee saqeemun (Ⅰ) - Then he said, "Verily, I am sick (at heart of your worshipping these)." (Ⅱ) - Then said: Lo! I feel sick! (Ⅲ) - and he said, ´Surely I am sick.´ (Ⅳ) - And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" (Ⅵ)

فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
- Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireena (Ⅰ) - So they turned their backs and went away. (Ⅱ) - And they turned their backs and went away from him. (Ⅲ) - But they went away from him, turning their backs. (Ⅳ) - So they turned away from him, and departed. (Ⅵ)

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
- Faragha ila alihatihim faqala ala takuloona (Ⅰ) - Then he turned to their gods secretly and said, "What! Do you not eat? (Ⅱ) - Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat ? (Ⅲ) - Then he turned to their gods, and said, ´What do you eat? (Ⅳ) - Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... (Ⅵ)

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
- Ma lakum la tantiqoona (Ⅰ) - "What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" (Ⅱ) - What aileth you that ye speak not ? (Ⅲ) - What ails you, that you speak not?´ (Ⅳ) - "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" (Ⅵ)

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ
- Faragha AAalayhim darban bialyameeni (Ⅰ) - Then he attacked them, smiting them with his right hand. (Ⅱ) - Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand. (Ⅲ) - And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. (Ⅳ) - Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand. (Ⅵ)

فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
- Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoona (Ⅰ) - So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening. (Ⅱ) - And (his people) came toward him, hastening. (Ⅲ) - Then came the others to him hastening. (Ⅳ) - Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). (Ⅵ)

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
- Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoona (Ⅰ) - Said he, "Worship you what you yourselves carve out, (Ⅱ) - He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve (Ⅲ) - He said, ´Do you serve what you hew, (Ⅳ) - He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved? (Ⅵ)

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
- WaAllahu khalaqakum wama taAAmaloona (Ⅰ) - "When Allah has created you and what you make?" (Ⅱ) - When Allah hath created you and what ye make ? (Ⅲ) - and God created you and what you make?´ (Ⅳ) - "But Allah has created you and your handwork!" (Ⅵ)

قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ
- Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyanan faalqoohu fee aljaheemi (Ⅰ) - They said, "Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire." (Ⅱ) - They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire. (Ⅲ) - They said, ´Build him a building, and cast him into the furnace!´ (Ⅳ) - They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!" (Ⅵ)

فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ
- Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu alasfaleena (Ⅰ) - And they designed a plot against him, but We brought them low. (Ⅱ) - And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost. (Ⅲ) - They desired to outwit him; so We made them the lower ones. (Ⅳ) - (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! (Ⅵ)

وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
- Waqala innee thahibun ila rabbee sayahdeeni (Ⅰ) - And he said, "Surely I flee to my lord; He will guide me. (Ⅱ) - And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me. (Ⅲ) - He said, ´I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. (Ⅳ) - He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! (Ⅵ)
