The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

82.
1
When the heavens are cleft asunder,
- Itha alssamao infatarat (Ⅰ) - When the heaven is cleft asunder, (Ⅱ) - When heaven is split open, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انفَطَرَتْ (Ⅳ) - When the Sky is cleft asunder; (Ⅵ)

And when the stars are dispersed,
- Waitha alkawakibu intatharat (Ⅰ) - When the planets are dispersed, (Ⅱ) - when the stars are scattered, (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انتَثَرَتْ (Ⅳ) - When the Stars are scattered; (Ⅵ)

And when the oceans are suffered to burst forth,
- Waitha albiharu fujjirat (Ⅰ) - When the seas are poured forth, (Ⅱ) - when the seas swarm over, (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ (Ⅳ) - When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth; (Ⅵ)

And when the graves are overturned,
- Waitha alqubooru buAAthirat (Ⅰ) - And the sepulchres are overturned, (Ⅱ) - when the tombs are overthrown, (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ (Ⅳ) - And when the Graves are turned upside down;- (Ⅵ)

Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back.
- AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamat waakhkharat (Ⅰ) - A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. (Ⅱ) - then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter. (Ⅲ) - عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ (Ⅳ) - (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back. (Ⅵ)

O man! What has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one,
- Ya ayyuha alinsanu ma gharraka birabbika alkareemi (Ⅰ) - O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful, (Ⅱ) - O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord (Ⅲ) - يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ (Ⅳ) - O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?- (Ⅵ)

Who created you, then completed your form in due proportions, then gave you balance (or an inclination to reason and justice)?
- Allathee khalaqaka fasawwaka faAAadalaka (Ⅰ) - Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee ? (Ⅱ) - who created thee and shaped thee and wrought thee in symmetry (Ⅲ) - الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ (Ⅳ) - Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias; (Ⅵ)

Into whatever form He wills He castes you.
- Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaa rakkabaka (Ⅰ) - Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee. (Ⅱ) - and composed thee after what form He would? (Ⅲ) - فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ (Ⅳ) - In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. (Ⅵ)

Nay! But you deny the judgment,
- Kalla bal tukaththiboona bialddeeni (Ⅰ) - Nay, but ye deny the Judgment. (Ⅱ) - No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom; (Ⅲ) - كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ (Ⅳ) - Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! (Ⅵ)

And most surely there are guardians over you
- Wainna AAalaykum lahafitheena (Ⅰ) - Lo! there are above you guardians, (Ⅱ) - yet there are over you watchers (Ⅲ) - وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ (Ⅳ) - But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,- (Ⅵ)

Honourable recorders,
- Kiraman katibeena (Ⅰ) - Generous and recording, (Ⅱ) - noble, writers (Ⅲ) - كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds): (Ⅵ)

They know what you do.
- YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloona (Ⅰ) - Who know (all) that ye do. (Ⅱ) - who know whatever you do. (Ⅲ) - يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ (Ⅳ) - They know (and understand) all that ye do. (Ⅵ)

Verily, the righteous are in bliss,
- Inna alabrara lafee naAAeemin (Ⅰ) - Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight. (Ⅱ) - Surely the pious shall be in bliss, (Ⅲ) - إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ (Ⅳ) - As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss; (Ⅵ)

And verily, the wicked are in burning fire,
- Wainna alfujjara lafee jaheemin (Ⅰ) - And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; (Ⅱ) - and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace (Ⅲ) - وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ (Ⅳ) - And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire, (Ⅵ)

They shall enter it on the Day of Judgment.
- Yaslawnaha yawma alddeeni (Ⅰ) - They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment, (Ⅱ) - roasting therein on the Day of Doom, (Ⅲ) - يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ) - Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment, (Ⅵ)

And they shall by no means be absent from it.
- Wama hum AAanha bighaibeena (Ⅰ) - And will not be absent thence. (Ⅱ) - nor shall they ever be absent from it. (Ⅲ) - وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ (Ⅳ) - And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. (Ⅵ)

And what will convey unto you what the Day of Judgment is?
- Wama adraka ma yawmu alddeeni (Ⅰ) - Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! (Ⅱ) - And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? (Ⅲ) - وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ) - And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? (Ⅵ)

Again, what will convey unto you what the Day of Judgment Is?
- Thumma ma adraka ma yawmu alddeeni (Ⅰ) - Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! (Ⅱ) - Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ) - Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? (Ⅵ)

The day on which no soul shall control anything for another soul; and the command on that day shall be entirely Allah´s.
- Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsin shayan waalamru yawmaithin lillahi (Ⅰ) - A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's. (Ⅱ) - A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. (Ⅲ) - يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ (Ⅳ) - (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah. (Ⅵ)
