82. 0  
Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
82. 1  
When heaven is split open,
- Itha alssamao infatarat (Ⅰ)
- When the heavens are cleft asunder, (Ⅱ)
- When the heaven is cleft asunder, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انفَطَرَتْ (Ⅳ)
- When the Sky is cleft asunder; (Ⅵ)
82. 2  
when the stars are scattered,
- Waitha alkawakibu intatharat (Ⅰ)
- And when the stars are dispersed, (Ⅱ)
- When the planets are dispersed, (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انتَثَرَتْ (Ⅳ)
- When the Stars are scattered; (Ⅵ)
82. 3  
when the seas swarm over,
- Waitha albiharu fujjirat (Ⅰ)
- And when the oceans are suffered to burst forth, (Ⅱ)
- When the seas are poured forth, (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ (Ⅳ)
- When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth; (Ⅵ)
82. 4  
when the tombs are overthrown,
- Waitha alqubooru buAAthirat (Ⅰ)
- And when the graves are overturned, (Ⅱ)
- And the sepulchres are overturned, (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ (Ⅳ)
- And when the Graves are turned upside down;- (Ⅵ)
82. 5  
then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter.
- AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamat waakhkharat (Ⅰ)
- Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back. (Ⅱ)
- A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind. (Ⅲ)
- عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ (Ⅳ)
- (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back. (Ⅵ)
82. 6  
O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord
- Ya ayyuha alinsanu ma gharraka birabbika alkareemi (Ⅰ)
- O man! What has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one, (Ⅱ)
- O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful, (Ⅲ)
- يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?- (Ⅵ)
82. 7  
who created thee and shaped thee and wrought thee in symmetry
- Allathee khalaqaka fasawwaka faAAadalaka (Ⅰ)
- Who created you, then completed your form in due proportions, then gave you balance (or an inclination to reason and justice)? (Ⅱ)
- Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee ? (Ⅲ)
- الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ (Ⅳ)
- Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias; (Ⅵ)
82. 8  
and composed thee after what form He would?
- Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaa rakkabaka (Ⅰ)
- Into whatever form He wills He castes you. (Ⅱ)
- Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee. (Ⅲ)
- فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ (Ⅳ)
- In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. (Ⅵ)
82. 9  
No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom;
- Kalla bal tukaththiboona bialddeeni (Ⅰ)
- Nay! But you deny the judgment, (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but ye deny the Judgment. (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ (Ⅳ)
- Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! (Ⅵ)
82. 10  
yet there are over you watchers
- Wainna AAalaykum lahafitheena (Ⅰ)
- And most surely there are guardians over you (Ⅱ)
- Lo! there are above you guardians, (Ⅲ)
- وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ (Ⅳ)
- But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,- (Ⅵ)
82. 11  
noble, writers
- Kiraman katibeena (Ⅰ)
- Honourable recorders, (Ⅱ)
- Generous and recording, (Ⅲ)
- كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ (Ⅳ)
- Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds): (Ⅵ)
82. 12  
who know whatever you do.
- YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloona (Ⅰ)
- They know what you do. (Ⅱ)
- Who know (all) that ye do. (Ⅲ)
- يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ (Ⅳ)
- They know (and understand) all that ye do. (Ⅵ)
82. 13  
Surely the pious shall be in bliss,
- Inna alabrara lafee naAAeemin (Ⅰ)
- Verily, the righteous are in bliss, (Ⅱ)
- Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight. (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss; (Ⅵ)
82. 14  
and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace
- Wainna alfujjara lafee jaheemin (Ⅰ)
- And verily, the wicked are in burning fire, (Ⅱ)
- And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; (Ⅲ)
- وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire, (Ⅵ)
82. 15  
roasting therein on the Day of Doom,
- Yaslawnaha yawma alddeeni (Ⅰ)
- They shall enter it on the Day of Judgment. (Ⅱ)
- They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment, (Ⅲ)
- يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ)
- Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment, (Ⅵ)
82. 16  
nor shall they ever be absent from it.
- Wama hum AAanha bighaibeena (Ⅰ)
- And they shall by no means be absent from it. (Ⅱ)
- And will not be absent thence. (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ (Ⅳ)
- And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. (Ⅵ)
82. 17  
And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom?
- Wama adraka ma yawmu alddeeni (Ⅰ)
- And what will convey unto you what the Day of Judgment is? (Ⅱ)
- Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ)
- And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? (Ⅵ)
82. 18  
Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom?
- Thumma ma adraka ma yawmu alddeeni (Ⅰ)
- Again, what will convey unto you what the Day of Judgment Is? (Ⅱ)
- Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ)
- Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? (Ⅵ)
82. 19  
A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God.
- Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsin shayan waalamru yawmaithin lillahi (Ⅰ)
- The day on which no soul shall control anything for another soul; and the command on that day shall be entirely Allah´s. (Ⅱ)
- A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's. (Ⅲ)
- يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ (Ⅳ)
- (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah. (Ⅵ)
