83. 0  
The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
83. 1  
Woe to the defrauders,
- Waylun lilmutaffifeena (Ⅰ)
- Woe unto the defrauders: (Ⅱ)
- Woe to the stinters who, (Ⅲ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ (Ⅳ)
- Woe to those that deal in fraud,- (Ⅵ)
83. 2  
Who, when they take the measure of their dues from men take it fully,
- Allatheena itha iktaloo AAala alnnasi yastawfoona (Ⅰ)
- Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, (Ⅱ)
- when they measure against the people, take full measure (Ⅲ)
- الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, (Ⅵ)
83. 3  
But when they give by measure or weight, they are deficient.
- Waitha kaloohum aw wazanoohum yukhsiroona (Ⅰ)
- But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. (Ⅱ)
- but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. (Ⅵ)
83. 4  
Do not these think that they shall be raised again to account
- Ala yathunnu olaika annahum mabAAoothoona (Ⅰ)
- Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again (Ⅱ)
- Do those not think that they shall be raised up (Ⅲ)
- أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Do they not think that they will be called to account?- (Ⅵ)
83. 5  
On a Mighty Day,
- Liyawmin AAatheemin (Ⅰ)
- Unto an Awful Day, (Ⅱ)
- unto a mighty day (Ⅲ)
- لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- On a Mighty Day, (Ⅵ)
83. 6  
The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
- Yawma yaqoomu alnnasu lirabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds ? (Ⅱ)
- a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? (Ⅲ)
- يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Ⅳ)
- A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? (Ⅵ)
83. 7  
Nay! Most surely the record of the wicked is in Sijjin.
- Kalla inna kitaba alfujjari lafee sijjeenin (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ (Ⅳ)
- Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. (Ⅵ)
83. 8  
And what will explain to you what Sijjin is?
- Wama adraka ma sijjeenun (Ⅰ)
- Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - (Ⅱ)
- and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ (Ⅳ)
- And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? (Ⅵ)
83. 9  
It is an inscribed Record.
- Kitabun marqoomun (Ⅰ)
- A written record. (Ⅱ)
- A book inscribed. (Ⅲ)
- كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ (Ⅳ)
- (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. (Ⅵ)
83. 10  
Woe on that day to the rejecters,
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ)
- Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ)
- Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, (Ⅲ)
- وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ)
- Woe, that Day, to those that deny- (Ⅵ)
83. 11  
Who give the lie to the Day of Judgment.
- Allatheena yukaththiboona biyawmi alddeeni (Ⅰ)
- Those who deny the Day of Judgment (Ⅱ)
- who cry lies to the Day of Doom; (Ⅲ)
- الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ (Ⅳ)
- Those that deny the Day of Judgment. (Ⅵ)
83. 12  
And none deny it but the transgressors beyond bounds, the sinful one
- Wama yukaththibu bihi illa kullu muAAtadin atheemin (Ⅰ)
- Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, (Ⅱ)
- and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! (Ⅵ)
83. 13  
When Our revelations are recited to him, he says, "Stories of those of yore."
- Itha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna qala asateeru alawwaleena (Ⅰ)
- Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. (Ⅱ)
- When our signs are recited to him, he says, ´Fairy-tales of the ancients!´ (Ⅲ)
- إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ (Ⅳ)
- When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" (Ⅵ)
83. 14  
Nay! But what they used to do has become like rust upon their heart.
- Kalla bal rana AAala quloobihim ma kanoo yaksiboona (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! (Ⅵ)
83. 15  
Nay! Most surely they shall on that day be debarred (or veiled) from their Lord.
- Kalla innahum AAan rabbihim yawmaithin lamahjooboona (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. (Ⅵ)
83. 16  
Then most surely they shall enter the burning Fire.
- Thumma innahum lasaloo aljaheemi (Ⅰ)
- Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, (Ⅱ)
- then they shall roast in Hell. (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. (Ⅵ)
83. 17  
Then shall it be said, "This is what you gave the lie to."
- Thumma yuqalu hatha allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona (Ⅰ)
- And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. (Ⅱ)
- Then it shall be said to them, ´This is that you cried lies to.´ (Ⅲ)
- ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! (Ⅵ)
83. 18  
Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in Iliyin.
- Kalla inna kitaba alabrari lafee AAilliyyeena (Ⅰ)
- Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - (Ⅱ)
- No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; (Ⅲ)
- كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ (Ⅳ)
- Day, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in ´Illiyin. (Ⅵ)
83. 19  
And what will explain to you what Iliyin is?
- Wama adraka ma AAilliyyoona (Ⅰ)
- Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - (Ⅱ)
- and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ (Ⅳ)
- And what will explain to thee what ´Illiyun is? (Ⅵ)
83. 20  
It is an inscribed Record,
- Kitabun marqoomun (Ⅰ)
- A written record, (Ⅱ)
- A book inscribed, (Ⅲ)
- كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ (Ⅳ)
- (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, (Ⅵ)
83. 21  
Those who are drawn near to Allah shall witness it.
- Yashhaduhu almuqarraboona (Ⅰ)
- Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). (Ⅱ)
- witnessed by those brought nigh. (Ⅲ)
- يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). (Ⅵ)
83. 22  
Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss,
- Inna alabrara lafee naAAeemin (Ⅰ)
- Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, (Ⅱ)
- Surely the pious shall be in bliss, (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: (Ⅵ)
83. 23  
On thrones, they shall gaze;
- AAala alaraiki yanthuroona (Ⅰ)
- On couches, gazing, (Ⅱ)
- upon couches gazing; (Ⅲ)
- عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): (Ⅵ)
83. 24  
You will see in their faces the brightness of bliss.
- TaAArifu fee wujoohihim nadrata alnnaAAeemi (Ⅰ)
- Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. (Ⅱ)
- thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss (Ⅲ)
- تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ (Ⅳ)
- Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. (Ⅵ)
83. 25  
They are given to drink pure wine, sealed.
- Yusqawna min raheeqin makhtoomin (Ⅰ)
- They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, (Ⅱ)
- as they are given to drink of a wine sealed (Ⅲ)
- يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ (Ⅳ)
- Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: (Ⅵ)
83. 26  
The sealing of it is with musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire.
- Khitamuhu miskun wafee thalika falyatanafasi almutanafisoona (Ⅰ)
- Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - (Ⅱ)
- whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- (Ⅲ)
- خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ (Ⅳ)
- The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: (Ⅵ)
83. 27  
And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim,
- Wamizajuhu min tasneemin (Ⅰ)
- And mixed with water of Tasnim, (Ⅱ)
- and whose mixture is Tasnim, (Ⅲ)
- وَمِزَاجُهُ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ (Ⅳ)
- With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: (Ⅵ)
83. 28  
A fountain from which drink they who are nearest to Allah.
- AAaynan yashrabu biha almuqarraboona (Ⅰ)
- A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. (Ⅱ)
- a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. (Ⅲ)
- عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ (Ⅳ)
- A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. (Ⅵ)
83. 29  
Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe.
- Inna allatheena ajramoo kanoo mina allatheena amanoo yadhakoona (Ⅰ)
- Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, (Ⅱ)
- Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, (Ⅲ)
- إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, (Ⅵ)
83. 30  
And when they passed by them, they winked at one another.
- Waitha marroo bihim yataghamazoona (Ⅰ)
- And wink one to another when they passed them; (Ⅱ)
- when them passed them by winking at one another, (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ (Ⅳ)
- And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); (Ⅵ)
83. 31  
And when they returned to their own folk they returned exulting.
- Waitha inqalaboo ila ahlihimu inqalaboo fakiheena (Ⅰ)
- And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; (Ⅱ)
- and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمُ انقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ (Ⅳ)
- And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; (Ⅵ)
83. 32  
And when they saw them, they said, "Most surely these are truly astray".
- Waitha raawhum qaloo inna haolai ladalloona (Ⅰ)
- And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. (Ⅱ)
- and when they saw them they said, ´Lo, these men are astray!´ (Ⅲ)
- وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَضَالُّونَ (Ⅳ)
- And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" (Ⅵ)
83. 33  
But they were not sent to be keepers over them.
- Wama orsiloo AAalayhim hafitheena (Ⅰ)
- Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. (Ⅱ)
- Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. (Ⅲ)
- وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ (Ⅳ)
- But they had not been sent as keepers over them! (Ⅵ)
83. 34  
This day it is the believers who shall laugh at the unbelievers;
- Faalyawma allatheena amanoo mina alkuffari yadhakoona (Ⅰ)
- This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, (Ⅱ)
- So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, (Ⅲ)
- فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ (Ⅳ)
- But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: (Ⅵ)
83. 35  
On thrones (of dignity), they will gaze.
- AAala alaraiki yanthuroona (Ⅰ)
- On high couches, gazing. (Ⅱ)
- upon couches gazing. (Ⅲ)
- عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ (Ⅳ)
- On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). (Ⅵ)
83. 36  
Are not the disbelievers rewarded for what they did?
- Hal thuwwiba alkuffaru ma kanoo yafAAaloona (Ⅰ)
- Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do ? (Ⅱ)
- Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? (Ⅲ)
- هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ (Ⅳ)
- Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? (Ⅵ)
