20. 1

‫ 1 ׃20 ויהי אחריכן באו בני מואב ובני עמון ועמהם מהעמונים על יהושפט למלחמה ‬

- Après cela, les fils de Moab et les fils d'Ammon, et avec eux des Maonites, marchèrent contre Josaphat pour lui faire la guerre. (Ⅱ)

- It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα ἠ̃λθον οἱ υἱοὶ Μωαβ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων καὶ μετ' αὐτω̃ν ἐκ τω̃ν Μιναίων πρὸς Ιωσαφατ εἰς πόλεμον (Ⅳ)

- Post hæc congregati sunt filii Moab et filii Ammon, et cum eis de Ammonitis, ad Josaphat, ut pugnarent contra eum. (Ⅴ)

20. 2

‫ 2 ׃20 ויבאו ויגידו ליהושפט לאמר בא עליך המון רב מעבר לים מארם והנם בחצצון תמר היא עין גדי ‬

- On vint en informer Josaphat, en disant: Une multitude nombreuse s'avance contre toi depuis l'autre côté de la mer, depuis la Syrie, et ils sont à Hatsatson Thamar, qui est En Guédi. (Ⅱ)

- Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθον καὶ ὑπέδειξαν τω̨̃ Ιωσαφατ λέγοντες ἥκει ἐπὶ σὲ πλη̃θος πολὺ ἐκ πέραν τη̃ς θαλάσσης ἀπὸ Συρίας καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐν Ασασανθαμαρ αὕτη ἐστὶν Ενγαδδι (Ⅳ)

- Veneruntque nuntii, et indicaverunt Josaphat, dicentes : Venit contra te multitudo magna de his locis quæ trans mare sunt, et de Syria : et ecce consistunt in Asasonthamar, quæ est Engaddi. (Ⅴ)

20. 3

‫ 3 ׃20 וירא ויתן יהושפט את פניו לדרוש ליהוה ויקרא צום על כל יהודה ‬

- Dans sa frayeur, Josaphat se disposa à chercher l'Éternel, et il publia un jeûne pour tout Juda. (Ⅱ)

- And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐφοβήθη καὶ ἔδωκεν Ιωσαφατ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ ἐκζητη̃σαι τὸν κύριον καὶ ἐκήρυξεν νηστείαν ἐν παντὶ Ιουδα (Ⅳ)

- Josaphat autem timore perterritus, totum se contulit ad rogandum Dominum, et prædicavit jejunium universo Juda. (Ⅴ)

20. 4

‫ 4 ׃20 ויקבצו יהודה לבקש מיהוה גם מכל ערי יהודה באו לבקש את יהוה ‬

- Juda s'assembla pour invoquer l'Éternel, et l'on vint de toutes les villes de Juda pour chercher l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ συνήχθη Ιουδας ἐκζητη̃σαι τὸν κύριον καὶ ἀπὸ πασω̃ν τω̃ν πόλεων Ιουδα ἠ̃λθον ζητη̃σαι τὸν κύριον (Ⅳ)

- Congregatusque est Judas ad deprecandum Dominum : sed et omnes de urbibus suis venerunt ad obsecrandum eum. (Ⅴ)

20. 5

‫ 5 ׃20 ויעמד יהושפט בקהל יהודה וירושלם בבית יהוה לפני החצר החדשה ‬

- Josaphat se présenta au milieu de l'assemblée de Juda et de Jérusalem, dans la maison de l'Éternel, devant le nouveau parvis. (Ⅱ)

- And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη Ιωσαφατ ἐν ἐκκλησία̨ Ιουδα ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου κατὰ πρόσωπον τη̃ς αὐλη̃ς τη̃ς καινη̃ς (Ⅳ)

- Cumque stetisset Josaphat in medio cœtu Juda et Jerusalem, in domo Domini ante atrium novum, (Ⅴ)

20. 6

‫ 6 ׃20 ויאמר יהוה אלהי אבתינו הלא אתה הוא אלהים בשמים ואתה מושל בכל ממלכות הגוים ובידך כח וגבורה ואין עמך להתיצב ‬

- Et il dit: Éternel, Dieu de nos pères, n'es-tu pas Dieu dans les cieux, et n'est-ce pas toi qui domines sur tous les royaumes des nations? N'est-ce pas toi qui as en main la force et la puissance, et à qui nul ne peut résister? (Ⅱ)

- And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριε ὁ θεὸς τω̃ν πατέρων ἡμω̃ν οὐχὶ σὺ εἰ̃ θεὸς ἐν οὐρανω̨̃ καὶ σὺ κυριεύεις πασω̃ν τω̃ν βασιλειω̃ν τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν καὶ ἐν τη̨̃ χειρί σου ἰσχὺς δυναστείας καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν πρὸς σὲ ἀντιστη̃ναι (Ⅳ)

- ait : Domine Deus patrum nostrorum, tu es Deus in cælo, et dominaris cunctis regnis gentium : in manu tua est fortitudo et potentia, nec quisquam tibi potest resistere. (Ⅴ)

20. 7

‫ 7 ׃20 הלא אתה אלהינו הורשת את ישבי הארץ הזאת מלפני עמך ישראל ותתנה לזרע אברהם אהבך לעולם ‬

- N'est-ce pas toi, ô notre Dieu, qui as chassé les habitants de ce pays devant ton peuple d'Israël, et qui l'as donné pour toujours à la postérité d'Abraham qui t'aimait? (Ⅱ)

- Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? (Ⅲ)

- οὐχὶ σὺ εἰ̃ ὁ κύριος ὁ ἐξολεθρεύσας τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας τὴν γη̃ν ταύτην ἀπὸ προσώπου του̃ λαου̃ σου Ισραηλ καὶ ἔδωκας αὐτὴν σπέρματι Αβρααμ τω̨̃ ἠγαπημένω̨ σου εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να (Ⅳ)

- Nonne tu, Deus noster, interfecisti omnes habitatores terræ hujus coram populo tuo Israël, et dedisti eam semini Abraham amici tui in sempiternum ? (Ⅴ)

20. 8

‫ 8 ׃20 וישבו בה ויבנו לך בה מקדש לשמך לאמר ‬

- Ils l'ont habité, et ils t'y ont bâti un sanctuaire pour ton nom, en disant: (Ⅱ)

- And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, (Ⅲ)

- καὶ κατώ̨κησαν ἐν αὐτη̨̃ καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησαν ἐν αὐτη̨̃ ἁγίασμα τω̨̃ ὀνόματί σου λέγοντες (Ⅳ)

- Habitaveruntque in ea, et exstruxerunt in illa sanctuarium nomini tuo, dicentes : (Ⅴ)

20. 9

‫ 9 ׃20 אם תבוא עלינו רעה חרב שפוט ודבר ורעב נעמדה לפני‪[c]‬ הבית הזה ולפניך כי שמך בבית הזה ונזעק אליך מצרתנו ותשמע ותושיע ‬

- S'il nous survient quelque calamité, l'épée, le jugement, la peste ou la famine, nous nous présenterons devant cette maison et devant toi, car ton nom est dans cette maison, nous crierons à toi du sein de notre détresse, et tu exauceras et tu sauveras! (Ⅱ)

- If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. (Ⅲ)

- ἐὰν ἐπέλθη̨ ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς κακά ῥομφαία κρίσις θάνατος λιμός στησόμεθα ἐναντίον του̃ οἴκου τούτου καὶ ἐναντίον σου ὅτι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπὶ τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ τούτω̨ καὶ βοησόμεθα πρὸς σὲ ἀπὸ τη̃ς θλίψεως καὶ ἀκούση̨ καὶ σώσεις (Ⅳ)

- Si irruerint super nos mala, gladius judicii, pestilentia, et fames, stabimus coram domo hac in conspectu tuo, in qua invocatum est nomen tuum : et clamabimus ad te in tribulationibus nostris, et exaudies, salvosque facies. (Ⅴ)

20. 10

‫ 10 ׃20 ועתה הנה בני עמון ומואב והר שעיר אשר לא נתתה לישראל לבוא בהם בבאם מארץ מצרים כי סרו מעליהם ולא השמידום ‬

- Maintenant voici, les fils d'Ammon et de Moab et ceux de la montagne de Séir, chez lesquels tu n'as pas permis à Israël d'entrer quand il venait du pays d'Égypte, -car il s'est détourné d'eux et ne les a pas détruits, - (Ⅱ)

- And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not; (Ⅲ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἰδοὺ υἱοὶ Αμμων καὶ Μωαβ καὶ ὄρος Σηιρ εἰς οὓς οὐκ ἔδωκας τω̨̃ Ισραηλ διελθει̃ν δι' αὐτω̃ν ἐξελθόντων αὐτω̃ν ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου ὅτι ἐξέκλιναν ἀπ' αὐτω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἐξωλέθρευσαν αὐτούς (Ⅳ)

- Nunc igitur, ecce filii Ammon, et Moab, et mons Seir, per quos non concessisti Israël ut transirent quando egrediebantur de Ægypto, sed declinaverunt ab eis, et non interfecerunt illos, (Ⅴ)

20. 11

‫ 11 ׃20 והנה הם גמלים עלינו לבוא לגרשנו מירשתך אשר הורשתנו ‬

- les voici qui nous récompensent en venant nous chasser de ton héritage, dont tu nous as mis en possession. (Ⅱ)

- Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἰδοὺ αὐτοὶ ἐπιχειρου̃σιν ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς ἐξελθει̃ν ἐκβαλει̃ν ἡμα̃ς ἀπὸ τη̃ς κληρονομίας ἡμω̃ν ἡ̃ς ἔδωκας ἡμι̃ν (Ⅳ)

- e contrario agunt, et nituntur ejicere nos de possessione quam tradidisti nobis. (Ⅴ)

20. 12

‫ 12 ׃20 אלהינו הלא תשפט בם כי אין בנו כח לפני ההמון הרב הזה הבא עלינו ואנחנו לא נדע מה נעשה כי עליך עינינו ‬

- O notre Dieu, n'exerceras-tu pas tes jugements sur eux? Car nous sommes sans force devant cette multitude nombreuse qui s'avance contre nous, et nous ne savons que faire, mais nos yeux sont sur toi. (Ⅱ)

- O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. (Ⅲ)

- κύριε ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν οὐ κρινει̃ς ἐν αὐτοι̃ς ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμι̃ν ἰσχὺς του̃ ἀντιστη̃ναι πρὸς τὸ πλη̃θος τὸ πολὺ του̃το τὸ ἐλθὸν ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς καὶ οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί ποιήσωμεν αὐτοι̃ς ἀλλ' ἢ ἐπὶ σοὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμω̃ν (Ⅳ)

- Deus noster, ergo non judicabis eos ? in nobis quidem non est tanta fortitudo, ut possimus huic multitudini resistere, quæ irruit super nos. Sed cum ignoremus quid agere debeamus, hoc solum habemus residui, ut oculos nostros dirigamus ad te.\ (Ⅴ)

20. 13

‫ 13 ׃20 וכל יהודה עמדים לפני יהוה גם טפם נשיהם ובניהם פ‬

- Tout Juda se tenait debout devant l'Éternel, avec leurs petits enfants, leurs femmes et leurs fils. (Ⅱ)

- And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ πα̃ς Ιουδας ἑστηκὼς ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτω̃ν καὶ αἱ γυναι̃κες (Ⅳ)

- Omnis vero Juda stabat coram Domino cum parvulis, et uxoribus, et liberis suis. (Ⅴ)

20. 14

‫ 14 ׃20 ויחזיאל בן זכריהו בן בניה בן יעיאל בן מתניה הלוי מן בני אסף היתה עליו רוח יהוה בתוך הקהל ‬

- Alors l'esprit de l'Éternel saisit au milieu de l'assemblée Jachaziel, fils de Zacharie, fils de Benaja, fils de Jeïel, fils de Matthania, Lévite, d'entre les fils d'Asaph. (Ⅱ)

- Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; (Ⅲ)

- καὶ τω̨̃ Οζιηλ τω̨̃ του̃ Ζαχαριου τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Βαναιου τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ελεηλ του̃ Μανθανιου του̃ Λευίτου ἀπὸ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ασαφ ἐγένετο ἐπ' αὐτὸν πνευ̃μα κυρίου ἐν τη̨̃ ἐκκλησία̨ (Ⅳ)

- Erat autem Jahaziel filius Zachariæ filii Banaiæ filii Jehiel filii Mathaniæ, Levites de filiis Asaph, super quem factus est spiritus Domini, in medio turbæ, (Ⅴ)

20. 15

‫ 15 ׃20 ויאמר הקשיבו כל יהודה וישבי ירושלם והמלך יהושפט כה אמר יהוה לכם אתם אל תיראו ואל תחתו מפני ההמון הרב הזה כי לא לכם המלחמה כי לאלהים ‬

- Et Jachaziel dit: Soyez attentifs, tout Juda et habitants de Jérusalem, et toi, roi Josaphat! Ainsi vous parle l'Éternel: Ne craignez point et ne vous effrayez point devant cette multitude nombreuse, car ce ne sera pas vous qui combattrez, ce sera Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀκούσατε πα̃ς Ιουδα καὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιωσαφατ τάδε λέγει κύριος ὑμι̃ν αὐτοι̃ς μὴ φοβει̃σθε μηδὲ πτοηθη̃τε ἀπὸ προσώπου του̃ ὄχλου του̃ πολλου̃ τούτου ὅτι οὐχ ὑμι̃ν ἐστιν ἡ παράταξις ἀλλ' ἢ τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ (Ⅳ)

- et ait : Attendite, omnis Juda, et qui habitatis Jerusalem, et tu, rex Josaphat : hæc dicit Dominus vobis : Nolite timere, nec paveatis hanc multitudinem : non est enim vestra pugna, sed Dei. (Ⅴ)

20. 16

‫ 16 ׃20 מחר רדו עליהם הנם עלים במעלה הציץ ומצאתם אתם בסוף הנחל פני מדבר ירואל ‬

- Demain, descendez contre eux; ils vont monter par la colline de Tsits, et vous les trouverez à l'extrémité de la vallée, en face du désert de Jeruel. (Ⅱ)

- To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. (Ⅲ)

- αὔριον κατάβητε ἐπ' αὐτούς ἰδοὺ ἀναβαίνουσιν κατὰ τὴν ἀνάβασιν Ασας καὶ εὑρήσετε αὐτοὺς ἐπ' ἄκρου ποταμου̃ τη̃ς ἐρήμου Ιεριηλ (Ⅳ)

- Cras descendetis contra eos : ascensuri enim sunt per clivum nomine Sis, et invenietis illos in summitate torrentis qui est contra solitudinem Jeruel. (Ⅴ)

20. 17

‫ 17 ׃20 לא לכם להלחם בזאת התיצבו עמדו וראו את ישועת יהוה עמכם יהודה וירושלם אל תיראו ואל תחתו מחר צאו לפניהם ויהוה עמכם ‬

- Vous n'aurez point à combattre en cette affaire: présentez-vous, tenez-vous là, et vous verrez la délivrance que l'Éternel vous accordera. Juda et Jérusalem, ne craignez point et ne vous effrayez point, demain, sortez à leur rencontre, et l'Éternel sera avec vous! (Ⅱ)

- Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. (Ⅲ)

- οὐχ ὑμι̃ν ἐστιν πολεμη̃σαι ταυ̃τα σύνετε καὶ ἴδετε τὴν σωτηρίαν κυρίου μεθ' ὑμω̃ν Ιουδα καὶ Ιερουσαλημ μὴ φοβει̃σθε μηδὲ πτοηθη̃τε αὔριον ἐξελθει̃ν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτοι̃ς καὶ κύριος μεθ' ὑμω̃ν (Ⅳ)

- Non eritis vos qui dimicabitis, sed tantummodo confidenter state, et videbitis auxilium Domini super vos, o Juda et Jerusalem : nolite timere, nec paveatis : cras egrediemini contra eos, et Dominus erit vobiscum. (Ⅴ)

20. 18

‫ 18 ׃20 ויקד יהושפט אפים ארצה וכל יהודה וישבי ירושלם נפלו לפני יהוה להשתחות ליהוה ‬

- Josaphat s'inclina le visage contre terre, et tout Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem tombèrent devant l'Éternel pour se prosterner en sa présence. (Ⅱ)

- And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ κύψας Ιωσαφατ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ καὶ πα̃ς Ιουδα καὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες Ιερουσαλημ ἔπεσαν ἔναντι κυρίου προσκυνη̃σαι κυρίω̨ (Ⅳ)

- Josaphat ergo, et Juda, et omnes habitatores Jerusalem ceciderunt proni in terram coram Domino, et adoraverunt eum. (Ⅴ)

20. 19

‫ 19 ׃20 ויקמו הלוים מן בני הקהתים ומן בני הקרחים להלל ליהוה אלהי ישראל בקול גדול למעלה ‬

- Les Lévites d'entre les fils des Kehathites et d'entre les fils des Koréites se levèrent pour célébrer d'une voix forte et haute l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἀνέστησαν οἱ Λευι̃ται ἀπὸ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Κααθ καὶ ἀπὸ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Κορε αἰνει̃ν κυρίω̨ θεω̨̃ Ισραηλ ἐν φωνη̨̃ μεγάλη̨ εἰς ὕψος (Ⅳ)

- Porro Levitæ de filiis Caath et de filiis Core laudabant Dominum Deum Israël voce magna in excelsum.\ (Ⅴ)

20. 20

‫ 20 ׃20 וישכימו בבקר ויצאו למדבר תקוע ובצאתם עמד יהושפט ויאמר שמעוני יהודה וישבי ירושלם האמינו ביהוה אלהיכם ותאמנו האמינו בנביאיו והצליחו ‬

- Le lendemain, ils se mirent en marche de grand matin pour le désert de Tekoa. A leur départ, Josaphat se présenta et dit: Écoutez-moi, Juda et habitants de Jérusalem! Confiez-vous en l'Éternel, votre Dieu, et vous serez affermis; confiez-vous en ses prophètes, et vous réussirez. (Ⅱ)

- And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ὤρθρισαν πρωὶ καὶ ἐξη̃λθον εἰς τὴν ἔρημον Θεκωε καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ ἐξελθει̃ν ἔστη Ιωσαφατ καὶ ἐβόησεν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀκούσατέ μου Ιουδα καὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἐμπιστεύσατε ἐν κυρίω̨ θεω̨̃ ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἐμπιστευθήσεσθε ἐμπιστεύσατε ἐν προφήτη̨ αὐτου̃ καὶ εὐοδωθήσεσθε (Ⅳ)

- Cumque mane surrexissent, egressi sunt per desertum Thecue : profectisque eis, stans Josaphat in medio eorum, dixit : Audite me, viri Juda, et omnes habitatores Jerusalem : credite in Domino Deo vestro, et securi eritis : credite prophetis ejus, et cuncta evenient prospera. (Ⅴ)

20. 21

‫ 21 ׃20 ויועץ אל העם ויעמד משררים ליהוה ומהללים להדרת קדש בצאת לפני החלוץ ואמרים הודו ליהוה כי לעולם חסדו ‬

- Puis, d'accord avec le peuple, il nomma des chantres qui, revêtus d'ornements sacrés, et marchant devant l'armée, célébraient l'Éternel et disaient: Louez l'Éternel, car sa miséricorde dure à toujours! (Ⅱ)

- And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο μετὰ του̃ λαου̃ καὶ ἔστησεν ψαλτω̨δοὺς καὶ αἰνου̃ντας ἐξομολογει̃σθαι καὶ αἰνει̃ν τὰ ἅγια ἐν τω̨̃ ἐξελθει̃ν ἔμπροσθεν τη̃ς δυνάμεως καὶ ἔλεγον ἐξομολογει̃σθε τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να τὸ ἔλεος αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ)

- Deditque consilium populo, et statuit cantores Domini ut laudarent eum in turmis suis, et antecederent exercitum, ac voce consona dicerent : Confitemini Domino quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus. (Ⅴ)

20. 22

‫ 22 ׃20 ובעת החלו ברנה ותהלה נתן יהוה מארבים על בני עמון מואב והר שעיר הבאים ליהודה וינגפו ‬

- Au moment où l'on commençait les chants et les louanges, l'Éternel plaça une embuscade contre les fils d'Ammon et de Moab et ceux de la montagne de Séir, qui étaient venus contre Juda. Et ils furent battus. (Ⅱ)

- And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ ἄρξασθαι τη̃ς αἰνέσεως αὐτου̃ τη̃ς ἐξομολογήσεως ἔδωκεν κύριος πολεμει̃ν τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων ἐπὶ Μωαβ καὶ ὄρος Σηιρ τοὺς ἐξελθόντας ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ ἐτροπώθησαν (Ⅳ)

- Cumque cœpissent laudes canere, vertit Dominus insidias eorum in semetipsos, filiorum scilicet Ammon, et Moab, et montis Seir, qui egressi fuerant ut pugnarent contra Judam : et percussi sunt. (Ⅴ)

20. 23

‫ 23 ׃20 ויעמדו בני עמון ומואב על ישבי הר שעיר להחרים ולהשמיד וככלותם ביושבי שעיר עזרו איש ברעהו למשחית ‬

- Les fils d'Ammon et de Moab se jetèrent sur les habitants de la montagne de Séir pour les dévouer par interdit et les exterminer; et quand ils en eurent fini avec les habitants de Séir, ils s'aidèrent les uns les autres à se détruire. (Ⅱ)

- For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἀνέστησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων καὶ Μωαβ ἐπὶ τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας ὄρος Σηιρ ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι καὶ ἐκτρι̃ψαι καὶ ὡς συνετέλεσαν τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας Σηιρ ἀνέστησαν εἰς ἀλλήλους του̃ ἐξολεθρευθη̃ναι (Ⅳ)

- Namque filii Ammon et Moab consurrexerunt adversum habitatores montis Seir, ut interficerent et delerent eos : cumque hoc opere perpetrassent, etiam in semetipsos versi, mutuis concidere vulneribus. (Ⅴ)

20. 24

‫ 24 ׃20 ויהודה בא על המצפה למדבר ויפנו אל ההמון והנם פגרים נפלים ארצה ואין פליטה ‬

- Lorsque Juda fut arrivé sur la hauteur d'où l'on aperçoit le désert, ils regardèrent du côté de la multitude, et voici, c'étaient des cadavres étendus à terre, et personne n'avait échappé. (Ⅱ)

- And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ Ιουδας ἠ̃λθεν ἐπὶ τὴν σκοπιὰν τη̃ς ἐρήμου καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν καὶ εἰ̃δεν τὸ πλη̃θος καὶ ἰδοὺ πάντες νεκροὶ πεπτωκότες ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς οὐκ ἠ̃ν σω̨ζόμενος (Ⅳ)

- Porro Juda, cum venisset ad speculam quæ respicit solitudinem, vidit procul omnem late regionem plenam cadaveribus, nec superesse quemquam qui necem potuisset evadere. (Ⅴ)

20. 25

‫ 25 ׃20 ויבא יהושפט ועמו לבז את שללם וימצאו בהם לרב ורכוש ופגרים וכלי חמדות וינצלו להם לאין משא ויהיו ימים שלושה בזזים את השלל כי רב הוא ‬

- Josaphat et son peuple allèrent prendre leurs dépouilles; ils trouvèrent parmi les cadavres d'abondantes richesses et des objets précieux, et ils en enlevèrent tant qu'ils ne purent tout emporter. Ils mirent trois jours au pillage du butin, car il était considérable. (Ⅱ)

- And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Ιωσαφατ καὶ ὁ λαὸς αὐτου̃ σκυλευ̃σαι τὰ σκυ̃λα αὐτω̃ν καὶ εὑ̃ρον κτήνη πολλὰ καὶ ἀποσκευὴν καὶ σκυ̃λα καὶ σκεύη ἐπιθυμητὰ καὶ ἐσκύλευσαν ἑαυτοι̃ς καὶ ἐγένοντο ἡμέραι τρει̃ς σκυλευόντων αὐτω̃ν τὰ σκυ̃λα ὅτι πολλὰ ἠ̃ν (Ⅳ)

- Venit ergo Josaphat, et omnis populus cum eo, ad detrahenda spolia mortuorum : inveneruntque inter cadavera variam supellectilem, vestes quoque, et vasa pretiosissima, et diripuerunt ita ut omnia portare non possent, nec per tres dies spolia auferre præ prædæ magnitudine. (Ⅴ)

20. 26

‫ 26 ׃20 וביום הרבעי נקהלו לעמק ברכה כי שם ברכו את יהוה על כן קראו את שם המקום ההוא עמק ברכה עד היום ‬

- Le quatrième jour, ils s'assemblèrent dans la vallée de Beraca, où ils bénirent l'Éternel; c'est pourquoi ils appelèrent ce lieu vallée de Beraca, nom qui lui est resté jusqu'à ce jour. (Ⅱ)

- And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ τετάρτη̨ ἐπισυνήχθησαν εἰς τὸν αὐλω̃να τη̃ς εὐλογίας ἐκει̃ γὰρ ηὐλόγησαν τὸν κύριον διὰ του̃το ἐκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα του̃ τόπου ἐκείνου Κοιλὰς εὐλογίας ἕως τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης (Ⅳ)

- Die autem quarto congregati sunt in Valle benedictionis : etenim quoniam ibi benedixerant Domino, vocaverunt locum illum Vallis benedictionis usque in præsentem diem. (Ⅴ)

20. 27

‫ 27 ׃20 וישבו כל איש יהודה וירושלם ויהושפט בראשם לשוב אל ירושלם בשמחה כי שמחם יהוה מאויביהם ‬

- Tous les hommes de Juda et de Jérusalem, ayant à leur tête Josaphat, partirent joyeux pour retourner à Jérusalem, car l'Éternel les avait remplis de joie en les délivrant de leurs ennemis. (Ⅱ)

- Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν πα̃ς ἀνὴρ Ιουδα εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ Ιωσαφατ ἡγούμενος αὐτω̃ν ἐν εὐφροσύνη̨ μεγάλη̨ ὅτι εὔφρανεν αὐτοὺς κύριος ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ)

- Reversusque est omnis vir Juda, et habitatores Jerusalem, et Josaphat ante eos, in Jerusalem cum lætitia magna, eo quod dedisset eis Dominus gaudium de inimicis suis. (Ⅴ)

20. 28

‫ 28 ׃20 ויבאו ירושלם בנבלים ובכנרות ובחצצרות אל בית יהוה ‬

- Ils entrèrent à Jérusalem et dans la maison de l'Éternel, au son des luths, des harpes et des trompettes. (Ⅱ)

- And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθον εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ἐν νάβλαις καὶ ἐν κινύραις καὶ ἐν σάλπιγξιν εἰς οἰ̃κον κυρίου (Ⅳ)

- Ingressique sunt in Jerusalem cum psalteriis, et citharis, et tubis in domum Domini. (Ⅴ)

20. 29

‫ 29 ׃20 ויהי פחד אלהים על כל ממלכות הארצות בשמעם כי נלחם יהוה עם אויבי ישראל ‬

- La terreur de l'Éternel s'empara de tous les royaumes des autres pays, lorsqu'ils apprirent que l'Éternel avait combattu contre les ennemis d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἔκστασις κυρίου ἐπὶ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τη̃ς γη̃ς ἐν τω̨̃ ἀκου̃σαι αὐτοὺς ὅτι ἐπολέμησεν κύριος πρὸς τοὺς ὑπεναντίους Ισραηλ (Ⅳ)

- Irruit autem pavor Domini super universa regna terrarum cum audissent quod pugnasset Dominus contra inimicos Israël. (Ⅴ)

20. 30

‫ 30 ׃20 ותשקט מלכות יהושפט וינח לו אלהיו מסביב פ‬

- Et le royaume de Josaphat fut tranquille, et son Dieu lui donna du repos de tous côtés. (Ⅱ)

- So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ εἰρήνευσεν ἡ βασιλεία Ιωσαφατ καὶ κατέπαυσεν αὐτω̨̃ ὁ θεὸς αὐτου̃ κυκλόθεν (Ⅳ)

- Quievitque regnum Josaphat, et præbuit ei Deus pacem per circuitum.\ (Ⅴ)

20. 31

‫ 31 ׃20 וימלך יהושפט על יהודה בן שלשים וחמש שנה במלכו ועשרים וחמש שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו עזובה בת שלחי ‬

- Josaphat régna sur Juda. Il avait trente-cinq ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna vingt-cinq ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Azuba, fille de Schilchi. (Ⅱ)

- And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωσαφατ ἐπὶ τὸν Ιουδαν ἐτω̃ν τριάκοντα πέντε ἐν τω̨̃ βασιλευ̃σαι αὐτὸν καὶ εἴκοσι πέντε ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ Αζουβα θυγάτηρ Σαλι (Ⅳ)

- Regnavit igitur Josaphat super Judam, et erat triginta quinque annorum cum regnare cœpisset : viginti autem et quinque annis regnavit in Jerusalem, et nomen matris ejus Azuba filia Selahi. (Ⅴ)

20. 32

‫ 32 ׃20 וילך בדרך אביו אסא ולא סר ממנה לעשות הישר בעיני יהוה ‬

- Il marcha dans la voie de son père Asa, et ne s'en détourna point, faisant ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing that which was right in the sight of the LORD. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ται̃ς ὁδοι̃ς του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ Ασα καὶ οὐκ ἐξέκλινεν του̃ ποιη̃σαι τὸ εὐθὲς ἐνώπιον κυρίου (Ⅳ)

- Et ambulavit in via patris suis Asa, nec declinavit ab ea, faciens quæ placita erant coram Domino. (Ⅴ)

20. 33

‫ 33 ׃20 אך הבמות לא סרו ועוד העם לא הכינו לבבם לאלהי אבתיהם ‬

- Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent point, et le peuple n'avait point encore le coeur fermement attaché au Dieu de ses pères. (Ⅱ)

- Howbeit the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers. (Ⅲ)

- ἀλλὰ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ἔτι ὑπη̃ρχεν καὶ ἔτι ὁ λαὸς οὐ κατεύθυνεν τὴν καρδίαν πρὸς κύριον θεὸν τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ)

- Verumtamen excelsa non abstulit, et adhuc populus non direxerat cor suum ad Dominum Deum patrum suorum. (Ⅴ)

20. 34

‫ 34 ׃20 ויתר דברי יהושפט הראשנים והאחרנים הנם כתובים בדברי יהוא בן חנני אשר העלה על ספר מלכי ישראל ‬

- Le reste des actions de Josaphat, les premières et les dernières, cela est écrit dans les mémoires de Jéhu, fils de Hanani, lesquels sont insérés dans le livre des rois d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ λόγοι Ιωσαφατ οἱ πρω̃τοι καὶ οἱ ἔσχατοι ἰδοὺ γεγραμμένοι ἐν λόγοις Ιου του̃ Ανανι ὃς κατέγραψεν βιβλίον βασιλέων Ισραηλ (Ⅳ)

- Reliqua autem gestorum Josaphat priorum et novissimorum scripta sunt in verbis Jehu filii Hanani, quæ digessit in libros regum Israël. (Ⅴ)

20. 35

‫ 35 ׃20 ואחריכן אתחבר יהושפט מלך יהודה עם אחזיה מלך ישראל הוא הרשיע לעשות ‬

- Après cela, Josaphat, roi de Juda, s'associa avec le roi d'Israël, Achazia, dont la conduite était impie. (Ⅱ)

- And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly: (Ⅲ)

- καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα ἐκοινώνησεν Ιωσαφατ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα πρὸς Οχοζιαν βασιλέα Ισραηλ καὶ οὑ̃τος ἠνόμησεν (Ⅳ)

- Post hæc iniit amicitias Josaphat rex Juda cum Ochozia rege Israël, cujus opera fuerunt impiissima. (Ⅴ)

20. 36

‫ 36 ׃20 ויחברהו עמו לעשות אניות ללכת תרשיש ויעשו אניות בעציון גבר ‬

- Il s'associa avec lui pour construire des navires destinés à aller à Tarsis, et ils firent les navires à Etsjon Guéber. (Ⅱ)

- And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Eziongaber. (Ⅲ)

- ἐν τω̨̃ ποιη̃σαι καὶ πορευθη̃ναι πρὸς αὐτὸν του̃ ποιη̃σαι πλοι̃α του̃ πορευθη̃ναι εἰς Θαρσις καὶ ἐποίησεν πλοι̃α ἐν Γασιωνγαβερ (Ⅳ)

- Et particeps fuit ut facerent naves quæ irent in Tharsis : feceruntque classem in Asiongaber. (Ⅴ)

20. 37

‫ 37 ׃20 ויתנבא אליעזר בן דדוהו ממרשה על יהושפט לאמר כהתחברך עם אחזיהו פרץ יהוה את מעשיך וישברו אניות ולא עצרו ללכת אל תרשיש ‬

- Alors Éliézer, fils de Dodava, de Maréscha, prophétisa contre Josaphat, et dit: Parce que tu t'es associé avec Achazia, l'Éternel détruit ton oeuvre. Et les navires furent brisés, et ne purent aller à Tarsis. (Ⅱ)

- Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish. (Ⅲ)

- καὶ ἐπροφήτευσεν Ελιεζερ ὁ του̃ Δωδια ἀπὸ Μαρισης ἐπὶ Ιωσαφατ λέγων ὡς ἐφιλίασας τω̨̃ Οχοζια ἔθραυσεν κύριος τὸ ἔργον σου καὶ συνετρίβη τὰ πλοι̃ά σου καὶ οὐκ ἐδυνάσθη του̃ πορευθη̃ναι εἰς Θαρσις (Ⅳ)

- Prophetavit autem Eliezer filius Dodau de Maresa ad Josaphat, dicens : Quia habuisti fœdus cum Ochozia, percussit Dominus opera tua, contritæque sunt naves, nec potuerunt ire in Tharsis. (Ⅴ)
