30. 1  
Paroles d'Agur, fils de Jaké. Sentences prononcées par cet homme pour Ithiel, pour Ithiel et pour Ucal.
- The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal, (Ⅱ)
- Verba Congregantis, filii Vomentis. Visio quam locutus est vir cum quo est Deus, et qui Deo secum morante confortatus, ait : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃30  דברי אגור בן יקה המשא נאם הגבר לאיתיאל לאיתיאל ואכל ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 2  
Certes, je suis plus stupide que personne, Et je n'ai pas l'intelligence d'un homme;
- Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man. (Ⅱ)
- Stultissimus sum virorum,/ et sapientia hominum non est mecum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃30  כי בער אנכי מאיש ולא בינת אדם לי ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 3  
Je n'ai pas appris la sagesse, Et je ne connais pas la science des saints.
- I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy. (Ⅱ)
- Non didici sapientiam,/ et non novi scientiam sanctorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃30  ולא למדתי חכמה ודעת קדשים אדע ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 4  
Qui est monté aux cieux, et qui en est descendu? Qui a recueilli le vent dans ses mains? Qui a serré les eaux dans son vêtement? Qui a fait paraître les extrémités de la terre? Quel est son nom, et quel est le nom de son fils? Le sais-tu?
- Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? (Ⅱ)
- Quis ascendit in cælum, atque descendit ?/ quis continuit spiritum in manibus suis ?/ quis colligavit aquas quasi in vestimento ?/ quis suscitavit omnes terminos terræ ?/ quod nomen est ejus, et quod nomen filii ejus, si nosti ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃30  מי עלה שמים וירד מי אסף רוח בחפניו מי צרר מים בשמלה מי הקים כל אפסי ארץ מה שמו ומה שם בנו כי תדע ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 5  
Toute parole de Dieu est éprouvée. Il est un bouclier pour ceux qui cherchent en lui un refuge.
- Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Ⅱ)
- Omnis sermo Dei ignitus :/ clypeus est sperantibus in se./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃30  כל אמרת אלוה צרופה מגן הוא לחסים בו ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 6  
N'ajoute rien à ses paroles, De peur qu'il ne te reprenne et que tu ne sois trouvé menteur.
- Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Ⅱ)
- Ne addas quidquam verbis illius,/ et arguaris, inveniarisque mendax./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃30  אל תוסף על דבריו פן יוכיח בך ונכזבת פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 7  
Je te demande deux choses: Ne me les refuse pas, avant que je meure!
- Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: (Ⅱ)
- Duo rogavi te :/ ne deneges mihi antequam moriar :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃30  שתים שאלתי מאתך אל תמנע ממני בטרם אמות ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 8  
Éloigne de moi la fausseté et la parole mensongère; Ne me donne ni pauvreté, ni richesse, Accorde-moi le pain qui m'est nécessaire.
- Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: (Ⅱ)
- vanitatem et verba mendacia longe fac a me ;/ mendicitatem et divitias ne dederis mihi :/ tribue tantum victui meo necessaria,/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃30  שוא ודבר כזב הרחק ממני ראש ועשר אל תתן לי הטריפני לחם חקי ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 9  
De peur que, dans l'abondance, je ne te renie Et ne dise: Qui est l'Éternel? Ou que, dans la pauvreté, je ne dérobe, Et ne m'attaque au nom de mon Dieu.
- Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. (Ⅱ)
- ne forte satiatus illiciar ad negandum,/ et dicam : Quis est Dominus ?/ aut egestate compulsus, furer,/ et perjurem nomen Dei mei./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃30  פן אשבע וכחשתי ואמרתי מי יהוה ופן אורש וגנבתי ותפשתי שם אלהי פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 10  
Ne calomnie pas un serviteur auprès de son maître, De peur qu'il ne te maudisse et que tu ne te rendes coupable.
- Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. (Ⅱ)
- Ne accuses servum ad dominum suum,/ ne forte maledicat tibi, et corruas.]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃30  אל תלשן עבד אל *אדנו **אדניו פן יקללך ואשמת ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 11  
Il est une race qui maudit son père, Et qui ne bénit point sa mère.
- There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. (Ⅱ)
- Generatio quæ patri suo maledicit,/ et quæ matri suæ non benedicit ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃30  דור אביו יקלל ואת אמו לא יברך ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 12  
Il est une race qui se croit pure, Et qui n'est pas lavée de sa souillure.
- There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. (Ⅱ)
- generatio quæ sibi munda videtur,/ et tamen non est lota a sordibus suis ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃30  דור טהור בעיניו ומצאתו לא רחץ ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 13  
Il est une race dont les yeux sont hautains, Et les paupières élevées.
- There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. (Ⅱ)
- generatio cujus excelsi sunt oculi,/ et palpebræ ejus in alta surrectæ ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃30  דור מה רמו עיניו ועפעפיו ינשאו ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 14  
Il est une race dont les dents sont des glaives Et les mâchoires des couteaux, Pour dévorer le malheureux sur la terre Et les indigents parmi les hommes.
- There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men. (Ⅱ)
- generatio quæ pro dentibus gladios habet,/ et commandit molaribus suis,/ ut comedat inopes de terra,/ et pauperes ex hominibus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃30  דור חרבות שניו ומאכלות מתלעתיו‪[C]‬ לאכל עניים מארץ ואביונים מאדם פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 15  
La sangsue a deux filles: Donne! donne! Trois choses sont insatiables, Quatre ne disent jamais: Assez!
- The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: (Ⅱ)
- Sanguisugæ duæ sunt filiæ,/ dicentes : Affer, affer./ Tria sunt insaturabilia,/ et quartum quod numquam dicit : Sufficit./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃30  לעלוקה שתי בנות הב הב שלוש הנה לא תשבענה ארבע לא אמרו הון ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 16  
Le séjour des morts, la femme stérile, La terre, qui n'est pas rassasiée d'eau, Et le feu, qui ne dit jamais: Assez!
- The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. (Ⅱ)
- Infernus, et os vulvæ,/ et terra quæ non satiatur aqua :/ ignis vero numquam dicit : Sufficit./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃30  שאול ועצר רחם ארץ לא שבעה מים ואש לא אמרה הון ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 17  
L'oeil qui se moque d'un père Et qui dédaigne l'obéissance envers une mère, Les corbeaux du torrent le perceront, Et les petits de l'aigle le mangeront.
- The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it. (Ⅱ)
- Oculum qui subsannat patrem,/ et qui despicit partum matris suæ,/ effodiant eum corvi de torrentibus,/ et comedant eum filii aquilæ !]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃30  עין תלעג לאב ותבוז ליקהת אם יקרוה ערבי נחל ויאכלוה בני נשר פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 18  
Il y a trois choses qui sont au-dessus de ma portée, Même quatre que je ne puis comprendre:
- There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not: (Ⅱ)
- Tria sunt difficilia mihi,/ et quartum penitus ignoro :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃30  שלשה המה נפלאו ממני *וארבע **וארבעה לא ידעתים ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 19  
La trace de l'aigle dans les cieux, La trace du serpent sur le rocher, La trace du navire au milieu de la mer, Et la trace de l'homme chez la jeune femme.
- The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. (Ⅱ)
- viam aquilæ in cælo,/ viam colubri super petram,/ viam navis in medio mari,/ et viam viri in adolescentia./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃30  דרך הנשר בשמים דרך נחש עלי צור דרך אניה בלב ים ודרך גבר בעלמה ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 20  
Telle est la voie de la femme adultère: Elle mange, et s'essuie la bouche, Puis elle dit: Je n'ai point fait de mal.
- Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness. (Ⅱ)
- Talis est et via mulieris adulteræ,/ quæ comedit, et tergens os suum/ dicit : Non sum operata malum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃30  כן דרך אשה מנאפת אכלה ומחתה פיה ואמרה לא פעלתי און פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 21  
Trois choses font trembler la terre, Et il en est quatre qu'elle ne peut supporter:
- For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear: (Ⅱ)
- Per tria movetur terra,/ et quartum non potest sustinere :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃30  תחת שלוש רגזה ארץ ותחת ארבע לא תוכל שאת ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 22  
Un esclave qui vient à régner, Un insensé qui est rassasié de pain,
- For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat; (Ⅱ)
- per servum, cum regnaverit ;/ per stultum, cum saturatus fuerit cibo ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃30  תחת עבד כי ימלוך ונבל כי ישבע לחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 23  
Une femme dédaignée qui se marie, Et une servante qui hérite de sa maîtresse.
- For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress. (Ⅱ)
- per odiosam mulierem, cum in matrimonio fuerit assumpta ;/ et per ancillam, cum fuerit hæres dominæ suæ.]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃30  תחת שנואה כי תבעל ושפחה כי תירש גברתה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 24  
Il y a sur la terre quatre animaux petits, Et cependant des plus sages;
- There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: (Ⅱ)
- Quatuor sunt minima terræ,/ et ipsa sunt sapientiora sapientibus :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃30  ארבעה הם קטני ארץ והמה חכמים מחכמים ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 25  
Les fourmis, peuple sans force, Préparent en été leur nourriture;
- The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; (Ⅱ)
- formicæ, populus infirmus,/ qui præparat in messe cibum sibi ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃30  הנמלים עם לא עז ויכינו בקיץ לחמם ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 26  
Les damans, peuple sans puissance, Placent leur demeure dans les rochers;
- The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; (Ⅱ)
- lepusculus, plebs invalida,/ qui collocat in petra cubile suum ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃30  שפנים עם לא עצום וישימו בסלע ביתם ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 27  
Les sauterelles n'ont point de roi, Et elles sortent toutes par divisions;
- The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; (Ⅱ)
- regem locusta non habet,/ et egreditur universa per turmas suas ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃30  מלך אין לארבה ויצא חצץ כלו ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 28  
Le lézard saisit avec les mains, Et se trouve dans les palais des rois.
- The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces. (Ⅱ)
- stellio manibus nititur,/ et moratur in ædibus regis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃30  שממית בידים תתפש והיא בהיכלי מלך פ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 29  
Il y en a trois qui ont une belle allure, Et quatre qui ont une belle démarche:
- There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going: (Ⅱ)
- Tria sunt quæ bene gradiuntur,/ et quartum quod incedit feliciter :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃30  שלשה המה מיטיבי צעד וארבעה מיטבי לכת ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 30  
Le lion, le héros des animaux, Ne reculant devant qui que ce soit;
- A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; (Ⅱ)
- leo, fortissimus bestiarum,/ ad nullius pavebit occursum ;/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃30  ליש גבור בבהמה ולא ישוב מפני כל ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 31  
Le cheval tout équipé; ou le bouc; Et le roi à qui personne ne résiste.
- A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up. (Ⅱ)
- gallus succinctus lumbos ;/ et aries ; nec est rex, qui resistat ei./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃30  זרזיר מתנים או תיש ומלך אלקום עמו ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 32  
Si l'orgueil te pousse à des actes de folie, Et si tu as de mauvaises pensées, mets la main sur la bouche:
- If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth. (Ⅱ)
- Est qui stultus apparuit postquam elevatus est in sublime ;/ si enim intellexisset, ori suo imposuisset manum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 32 ׃30  אם נבלת בהתנשא ואם זמות יד לפה ‬ (Ⅴ)
30. 33  
Car la pression du lait produit de la crème, La pression du nez produit du sang, Et la pression de la colère produit des querelles.
- Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife. (Ⅱ)
- Qui autem fortiter premit ubera ad eliciendum lac exprimit butyrum ;/ et qui vehementer emungit elicit sanguinem ;/ et qui provocat iras producit discordias.] (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 33 ׃30  כי מיץ חלב יוציא חמאה ומיץ אף יוציא דם ומיץ אפים יוציא ריב פ‬ (Ⅴ)
