- Mon fils, si tu as cautionné ton prochain, Si tu t'es engagé pour autrui, (Ⅱ) - My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, (Ⅲ) - υἱέ ἐὰν ἐγγυήση̨ σὸν φίλον παραδώσεις σὴν χει̃ρα ἐχθρω̨̃ (Ⅳ) - Fili mi, si spoponderis pro amico tuo,/ defixisti apud extraneum manum tuam :/ (Ⅴ)

2 ׃6 נוקשת באמרי פיך נלכדת באמרי פיך
- Si tu es enlacé par les paroles de ta bouche, Si tu es pris par les paroles de ta bouche, (Ⅱ) - Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. (Ⅲ) - παγὶς γὰρ ἰσχυρὰ ἀνδρὶ τὰ ἴδια χείλη καὶ ἁλίσκεται χείλεσιν ἰδίου στόματος (Ⅳ) - illaqueatus es verbis oris tui,/ et captus propriis sermonibus./ (Ⅴ)

3 ׃6 עשה זאת אפוא בני והנצל כי באת בכף רעך לך התרפס ורהב רעיך
- Fais donc ceci, mon fils, dégage-toi, Puisque tu es tombé au pouvoir de ton prochain; Va, prosterne-toi, et fais des instances auprès de lui; (Ⅱ) - Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. (Ⅲ) - ποίει υἱέ ἃ ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι καὶ σώ̨ζου ἥκεις γὰρ εἰς χει̃ρας κακω̃ν διὰ σὸν φίλον ἴθι μὴ ἐκλυόμενος παρόξυνε δὲ καὶ τὸν φίλον σου ὃν ἐνεγυήσω (Ⅳ) - Fac ergo quod dico, fili mi, et temetipsum libera,/ quia incidisti in manum proximi tui./ Discurre, festina, suscita amicum tuum./ (Ⅴ)

4 ׃6 אל תתן שנה לעיניך ותנומה לעפעפיך
- Ne donne ni sommeil à tes yeux, Ni assoupissement à tes paupières; (Ⅱ) - Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. (Ⅲ) - μὴ δω̨̃ς ὕπνον σοι̃ς ὄμμασιν μηδὲ ἐπινυστάξη̨ς σοι̃ς βλεφάροις (Ⅳ) - Ne dederis somnum oculis tuis,/ nec dormitent palpebræ tuæ./ (Ⅴ)

5 ׃6 הנצל כצבי מיד וכצפור מיד יקוש פ
- Dégage-toi comme la gazelle de la main du chasseur, Comme l'oiseau de la main de l'oiseleur. (Ⅱ) - Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. (Ⅲ) - ἵνα σώ̨ζη̨ ὥσπερ δορκὰς ἐκ βρόχων καὶ ὥσπερ ὄρνεον ἐκ παγίδος (Ⅳ) - Eruere quasi damula de manu,/ et quasi avis de manu aucupis.]\ (Ⅴ)

6 ׃6 לך אל נמלה עצל ראה דרכיה וחכם
- Va vers la fourmi, paresseux; Considère ses voies, et deviens sage. (Ⅱ) - Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: (Ⅲ) - ἴθι πρὸς τὸν μύρμηκα ὠ̃ ὀκνηρέ καὶ ζήλωσον ἰδὼν τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ γενου̃ ἐκείνου σοφώτερος (Ⅳ) - Vade ad formicam, o piger,/ et considera vias ejus, et disce sapientiam./ (Ⅴ)

7 ׃6 אשר אין לה קצין שטר ומשל
- Elle n'a ni chef, Ni inspecteur, ni maître; (Ⅱ) - Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, (Ⅲ) - ἐκείνω̨ γὰρ γεωργίου μὴ ὑπάρχοντος μηδὲ τὸν ἀναγκάζοντα ἔχων μηδὲ ὑπὸ δεσπότην ὢν (Ⅳ) - Quæ cum non habeat ducem,/ nec præceptorem, nec principem,/ (Ⅴ)

8 ׃6 תכין בקיץ לחמה אגרה בקציר מאכלה
- Elle prépare en été sa nourriture, Elle amasse pendant la moisson de quoi manger. (Ⅱ) - Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. (Ⅲ) - ἑτοιμάζεται θέρους τὴν τροφὴν πολλήν τε ἐν τω̨̃ ἀμήτω̨ ποιει̃ται τὴν παράθεσιν (Ⅳ) - parat in æstate cibum sibi,/ et congregat in messe quod comedat./ (Ⅴ)

9 ׃6 עד מתי עצל תשכב מתי תקום משנתך
- Paresseux, jusqu'à quand seras-tu couché? Quand te lèveras-tu de ton sommeil? (Ⅱ) - How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? (Ⅲ) - ἕως τίνος ὀκνηρέ κατάκεισαι πότε δὲ ἐξ ὕπνου ἐγερθήση̨ (Ⅳ) - Usquequo, piger, dormies ?/ quando consurges e somno tuo ?/ (Ⅴ)

10 ׃6 מעט שנות מעט תנומות מעט חבק ידים לשכב
- Un peu de sommeil, un peu d'assoupissement, Un peu croiser les mains pour dormir!... (Ⅱ) - Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: (Ⅲ) - ὀλίγον μὲν ὑπνοι̃ς ὀλίγον δὲ κάθησαι μικρὸν δὲ νυστάζεις ὀλίγον δὲ ἐναγκαλίζη̨ χερσὶν στήθη (Ⅳ) - Paululum dormies, paululum dormitabis,/ paululum conseres manus ut dormias ;/ (Ⅴ)

11 ׃6 ובא כמהלך ראשך ומחסרך כאיש מגן פ
- Et la pauvreté te surprendra, comme un rôdeur, Et la disette, comme un homme en armes. (Ⅱ) - So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. (Ⅲ) - εἰ̃τ' ἐμπαραγίνεταί σοι ὥσπερ κακὸς ὁδοιπόρος ἡ πενία καὶ ἡ ἔνδεια ὥσπερ ἀγαθὸς δρομεύς (Ⅳ) - et veniet tibi quasi viator egestas,/ et pauperies quasi vir armatus./ Si vero impiger fueris, veniet ut fons messis tua,/ et egestas longe fugiet a te.]\ (Ⅴ)

12 ׃6 אדם בליעל איש און הולך עקשות פה
- L'homme pervers, l'homme inique, Marche la fausseté dans la bouche; (Ⅱ) - A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. (Ⅲ) - ἀνὴρ ἄφρων καὶ παράνομος πορεύεται ὁδοὺς οὐκ ἀγαθάς (Ⅳ) - Homo apostata, vir inutilis, graditur ore perverso ;/ (Ⅴ)

- Il cligne des yeux, parle du pied, Fait des signes avec les doigts; (Ⅱ) - He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; (Ⅲ) - ὁ δ' αὐτὸς ἐννεύει ὀφθαλμω̨̃ σημαίνει δὲ ποδί διδάσκει δὲ ἐννεύμασιν δακτύλων (Ⅳ) - annuit oculis, terit pede, digito loquitur,/ (Ⅴ)

14 ׃6 תהפכות בלבו חרש רע בכל עת *מדנים **מדינים ישלח
- La perversité est dans son coeur, Il médite le mal en tout temps, Il excite des querelles. (Ⅱ) - Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. (Ⅲ) - διεστραμμένη̨ δὲ καρδία̨ τεκταίνεται κακὰ ἐν παντὶ καιρω̨̃ ὁ τοιου̃τος ταραχὰς συνίστησιν πόλει (Ⅳ) - pravo corde machinatur malum,/ et omni tempore jurgia seminat./ (Ⅴ)

15 ׃6 על כן פתאם יבוא אידו פתע ישבר ואין מרפא פ
- Aussi sa ruine arrivera-t-elle subitement; Il sera brisé tout d'un coup, et sans remède. (Ⅱ) - Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy. (Ⅲ) - διὰ του̃το ἐξαπίνης ἔρχεται ἡ ἀπώλεια αὐτου̃ διακοπὴ καὶ συντριβὴ ἀνίατος (Ⅳ) - Huic extemplo veniet perditio sua,/ et subito conteretur, nec habebit ultra medicinam.]\ (Ⅴ)

- Il y a six choses que hait l'Éternel, Et même sept qu'il a en horreur; (Ⅱ) - These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: (Ⅲ) - ὅτι χαίρει πα̃σιν οἱ̃ς μισει̃ ὁ κύριος συντρίβεται δὲ δι' ἀκαθαρσίαν ψυχη̃ς (Ⅳ) - Sex sunt quæ odit Dominus,/ et septimum detestatur anima ejus :/ (Ⅴ)

- Les yeux hautains, la langue menteuse, Les mains qui répandent le sang innocent, (Ⅱ) - A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, (Ⅲ) - ὀφθαλμὸς ὑβριστου̃ γλω̃σσα ἄδικος χει̃ρες ἐκχέουσαι αἱ̃μα δικαίου (Ⅳ) - oculos sublimes, linguam mendacem,/ manus effundentes innoxium sanguinem,/ (Ⅴ)

18 ׃6 לב חרש מחשבות און רגלים ממהרות לרוץ לרעה[U]
- Le coeur qui médite des projets iniques, Les pieds qui se hâtent de courir au mal, (Ⅱ) - An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, (Ⅲ) - καὶ καρδία τεκταινομένη λογισμοὺς κακοὺς καὶ πόδες ἐπισπεύδοντες κακοποιει̃ν (Ⅳ) - cor machinans cogitationes pessimas,/ pedes veloces ad currendum in malum,/ (Ⅴ)

19 ׃6 יפיח כזבים עד שקר ומשלח מדנים בין אחים פ
- Le faux témoin qui dit des mensonges, Et celui qui excite des querelles entre frères. (Ⅱ) - A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. (Ⅲ) - ἐκκαίει ψεύδη μάρτυς ἄδικος καὶ ἐπιπέμπει κρίσεις ἀνὰ μέσον ἀδελφω̃ν (Ⅳ) - proferentem mendacia testem fallacem,/ et eum qui seminat inter fratres discordias.]\ (Ⅴ)

20 ׃6 נצר בני מצות אביך ואל תטש תורת אמך
- Mon fils, garde les préceptes de ton père, Et ne rejette pas l'enseignement de ta mère. (Ⅱ) - My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: (Ⅲ) - υἱέ φύλασσε νόμους πατρός σου καὶ μὴ ἀπώση̨ θεσμοὺς μητρός σου (Ⅳ) - Conserva, fili mi, præcepta patris tui,/ et ne dimittas legem matris tuæ./ (Ⅴ)

21 ׃6 קשרם על לבך תמיד ענדם על גרגרתך
- Lie-les constamment sur ton coeur, Attache-les à ton cou. (Ⅱ) - Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. (Ⅲ) - ἄφαψαι δὲ αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ ση̨̃ ψυχη̨̃ διὰ παντὸς καὶ ἐγκλοίωσαι ἐπὶ σω̨̃ τραχήλω̨ (Ⅳ) - Liga ea in corde tuo jugiter,/ et circumda gutturi tuo./ (Ⅴ)

22 ׃6 בהתהלכך[C] תנחה אתך בשכבך תשמר עליך והקיצות היא תשיחך
- Ils te dirigeront dans ta marche, Ils te garderont sur ta couche, Ils te parleront à ton réveil. (Ⅱ) - When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. (Ⅲ) - ἡνίκα ἂν περιπατη̨̃ς ἐπάγου αὐτήν καὶ μετὰ σου̃ ἔστω ὡς δ' ἂν καθεύδη̨ς φυλασσέτω σε ἵνα ἐγειρομένω̨ συλλαλη̨̃ σοι (Ⅳ) - Cum ambulaveris, gradiantur tecum ;/ cum dormieris, custodiant te :/ et evigilans loquere cum eis./ (Ⅴ)

23 ׃6 כי נר מצוה ותורה אור ודרך חיים תוכחות מוסר
- Car le précepte est une lampe, et l'enseignement une lumière, Et les avertissements de la correction sont le chemin de la vie: (Ⅱ) - For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: (Ⅲ) - ὅτι λύχνος ἐντολὴ νόμου καὶ φω̃ς καὶ ὁδὸς ζωη̃ς ἔλεγχος καὶ παιδεία (Ⅳ) - Quia mandatum lucerna est, et lex lux,/ et via vitæ increpatio disciplinæ :/ (Ⅴ)

24 ׃6 לשמרך מאשת רע מחלקת לשון נכריה
- Ils te préserveront de la femme corrompue, De la langue doucereuse de l'étrangère. (Ⅱ) - To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. (Ⅲ) - του̃ διαφυλάσσειν σε ἀπὸ γυναικὸς ὑπάνδρου καὶ ἀπὸ διαβολη̃ς γλώσσης ἀλλοτρίας (Ⅳ) - ut custodiant te a muliere mala,/ et a blanda lingua extraneæ./ (Ⅴ)

25 ׃6 אל תחמד יפיה בלבבך ואל תקחך בעפעפיה
- Ne la convoite pas dans ton coeur pour sa beauté, Et ne te laisse pas séduire par ses paupières. (Ⅱ) - Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. (Ⅲ) - μή σε νικήση̨ κάλλους ἐπιθυμία μηδὲ ἀγρευθη̨̃ς σοι̃ς ὀφθαλμοι̃ς μηδὲ συναρπασθη̨̃ς ἀπὸ τω̃ν αὐτη̃ς βλεφάρων (Ⅳ) - Non concupiscat pulchritudinem ejus cor tuum,/ nec capiaris nutibus illius :/ (Ⅴ)

26 ׃6 כי בעד אשה זונה עד ככר לחם ואשת איש נפש יקרה תצוד פ
- Car pour la femme prostituée on se réduit à un morceau de pain, Et la femme mariée tend un piège à la vie précieuse. (Ⅱ) - For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life. (Ⅲ) - τιμὴ γὰρ πόρνης ὅση καὶ ἑνὸς ἄρτου γυνὴ δὲ ἀνδρω̃ν τιμίας ψυχὰς ἀγρεύει (Ⅳ) - pretium enim scorti vix est unius panis,/ mulier autem viri pretiosam animam capit./ (Ⅴ)

27 ׃6 היחתה איש אש בחיקו ובגדיו לא תשרפנה
- Quelqu'un mettra-t-il du feu dans son sein, Sans que ses vêtements s'enflamment? (Ⅱ) - Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? (Ⅲ) - ἀποδήσει τις πυ̃ρ ἐν κόλπω̨ τὰ δὲ ἱμάτια οὐ κατακαύσει (Ⅳ) - Numquid potest homo abscondere ignem in sinu suo,/ ut vestimenta illius non ardeant ?/ (Ⅴ)

28 ׃6 אם יהלך איש על הגחלים ורגליו לא תכוינה
- Quelqu'un marchera-t-il sur des charbons ardents, Sans que ses pieds soient brûlés? (Ⅱ) - Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? (Ⅲ) - ἢ περιπατήσει τις ἐπ' ἀνθράκων πυρός τοὺς δὲ πόδας οὐ κατακαύσει (Ⅳ) - aut ambulare super prunas,/ ut non comburantur plantæ ejus ?/ (Ⅴ)

29 ׃6 כן הבא אל אשת רעהו לא ינקה כל הנגע בה
- Il en est de même pour celui qui va vers la femme de son prochain: Quiconque la touche ne restera pas impuni. (Ⅱ) - So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent. (Ⅲ) - οὕτως ὁ εἰσελθὼν πρὸς γυναι̃κα ὕπανδρον οὐκ ἀθω̨ωθήσεται οὐδὲ πα̃ς ὁ ἁπτόμενος αὐτη̃ς (Ⅳ) - sic qui ingreditur ad mulierem proximi sui,/ non erit mundus cum tetigerit eam./ (Ⅴ)

30 ׃6 לא יבוזו לגנב כי יגנוב למלא נפשו כי ירעב
- On ne tient pas pour innocent le voleur qui dérobe Pour satisfaire son appétit, quand il a faim; (Ⅱ) - Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; (Ⅲ) - οὐ θαυμαστὸν ἐὰν ἁλω̨̃ τις κλέπτων κλέπτει γὰρ ἵνα ἐμπλήση̨ τὴν ψυχὴν πεινω̃ν (Ⅳ) - Non grandis est culpa cum quis furatus fuerit :/ furatur enim ut esurientem impleat animam ;/ (Ⅴ)

31 ׃6 ונמצא ישלם שבעתים את כל הון ביתו יתן
- Si on le trouve, il fera une restitution au septuple, Il donnera tout ce qu'il a dans sa maison. (Ⅱ) - But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. (Ⅲ) - ἐὰν δὲ ἁλω̨̃ ἀποτείσει ἑπταπλάσια καὶ πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτου̃ δοὺς ῥύσεται ἑαυτόν (Ⅳ) - deprehensus quoque reddet septuplum,/ et omnem substantiam domus suæ tradet./ (Ⅴ)

32 ׃6 נאף אשה חסר לב משחית נפשו הוא יעשנה
- Mais celui qui commet un adultère avec une femme est dépourvu de sens, Celui qui veut se perdre agit de la sorte; (Ⅱ) - But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. (Ⅲ) - ὁ δὲ μοιχὸς δι' ἔνδειαν φρενω̃ν ἀπώλειαν τη̨̃ ψυχη̨̃ αὐτου̃ περιποιει̃ται (Ⅳ) - Qui autem adulter est,/ propter cordis inopiam perdet animam suam ;/ (Ⅴ)

33 ׃6 נגע וקלון ימצא וחרפתו לא תמחה
- Il n'aura que plaie et ignominie, Et son opprobre ne s'effacera point. (Ⅱ) - A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. (Ⅲ) - ὀδύνας τε καὶ ἀτιμίας ὑποφέρει τὸ δὲ ὄνειδος αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐξαλειφθήσεται εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να (Ⅳ) - turpitudinem et ignominiam congregat sibi,/ et opprobrium illius non delebitur :/ (Ⅴ)

34 ׃6 כי קנאה חמת גבר ולא יחמול ביום נקם
- Car la jalousie met un homme en fureur, Et il est sans pitié au jour de la vengeance; (Ⅱ) - For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. (Ⅲ) - μεστὸς γὰρ ζήλου θυμὸς ἀνδρὸς αὐτη̃ς οὐ φείσεται ἐν ἡμέρα̨ κρίσεως (Ⅳ) - quia zelus et furor viri/ non parcet in die vindictæ,/ (Ⅴ)

35 ׃6 לא ישא פני כל כפר ולא יאבה כי תרבה שחד פ
- Il n'a égard à aucune rançon, Et il est inflexible, quand même tu multiplierais les dons. (Ⅱ) - He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. (Ⅲ) - οὐκ ἀνταλλάξεται οὐδενὸς λύτρου τὴν ἔχθραν οὐδὲ μὴ διαλυθη̨̃ πολλω̃ν δώρων (Ⅳ) - nec acquiescet cujusquam precibus,/ nec suscipiet pro redemptione dona plurima.] (Ⅴ)
