6. 1

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

- Darius trouva bon d'établir sur le royaume cent vingt satrapes, qui devaient être dans tout le royaume. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Δαρει̃ος ὁ Μη̃δος παρέλαβεν τὴν βασιλείαν ὢν ἐτω̃ν ἑξήκοντα δύο (Ⅲ)

- Placuit Dario, et constituit super regnum satrapas centum viginti ut essent in toto regno suo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃6 שפר קדם דריוש והקים על מלכותא לאחשדרפניא מאה ועשרין די להון בכל מלכותא ‬ (Ⅴ)

And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

- Il mit à leur tête trois chefs, au nombre desquels était Daniel, afin que ces satrapes leur rendissent compte, et que le roi ne souffrît aucun dommage. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤρεσεν ἐνώπιον Δαρείου καὶ κατέστησεν ἐπὶ τη̃ς βασιλείας σατράπας ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι του̃ εἰ̃ναι αὐτοὺς ἐν ὅλη̨ τη̨̃ βασιλεία̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et super eos principes tres, ex quibus Daniel unus erat : ut satrapæ illis redderent rationem, et rex non sustineret molestiam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃6 ועלא מנהון סרכין תלתא די דניאל חד מנהון די להון אחשדרפניא אלין יהבין להון טעמא ומלכא לא להוא נזק ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

- Daniel surpassait les chefs et les satrapes, parce qu'il y avait en lui un esprit supérieur; et le roi pensait à l'établir sur tout le royaume. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπάνω αὐτω̃ν τακτικοὺς τρει̃ς ὡ̃ν ἠ̃ν Δανιηλ εἱ̃ς ἐξ αὐτω̃ν του̃ ἀποδιδόναι αὐτοι̃ς τοὺς σατράπας λόγον ὅπως ὁ βασιλεὺς μὴ ἐνοχλη̃ται (Ⅲ)

- Igitur Daniel superabat omnes principes et satrapas, quia spiritus Dei amplior erat in illo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃6 אדין דניאל דנה הוא מתנצח על סרכיא ואחשדרפניא כל קבל די רוח יתירא בה ומלכא עשית להקמותה על כל מלכותא ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

- Alors les chefs et les satrapes cherchèrent une occasion d'accuser Daniel en ce qui concernait les affaires du royaume. Mais ils ne purent trouver aucune occasion, ni aucune chose à reprendre, parce qu'il était fidèle, et qu'on apercevait chez lui ni faute, ni rien de mauvais. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃ν Δανιηλ ὑπὲρ αὐτούς ὅτι πνευ̃μα περισσὸν ἐν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς κατέστησεν αὐτὸν ἐφ' ὅλης τη̃ς βασιλείας αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Porro rex cogitabat constituere eum super omne regnum : unde principes, et satrapæ quærebant occasionem ut invenirent Danieli ex latere regis : nullamque causam, et suspicionem reperire potuerunt, eo quod fidelis esset, et omnis culpa, et suspicio non inveniretur in eo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃6 אדין סרכיא ואחשדרפניא הוו בעין עלה להשכחה לדניאל מצד מלכותא וכל עלה ושחיתה לא יכלין להשכחה כל קבל די מהימן הוא וכל שלו ושחיתה לא השתכחת עלוהי ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

- Et ces hommes dirent: Nous ne trouverons aucune occasion contre ce Daniel, à moins que nous n'en trouvions une dans la loi de son Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οἱ τακτικοὶ καὶ οἱ σατράπαι ἐζήτουν πρόφασιν εὑρει̃ν κατὰ Δανιηλ καὶ πα̃σαν πρόφασιν καὶ παράπτωμα καὶ ἀμβλάκημα οὐχ εὑ̃ρον κατ' αὐτου̃ ὅτι πιστὸς ἠ̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dixerunt ergo viri illi : Non inveniemus Danieli huic aliquam occasionem, nisi forte in lege Dei sui. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃6 אדין גבריא אלך אמרין די לא נהשכח לדניאל דנה כל עלא להן השכחנה עלוהי בדת אלהה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

- Puis ces chefs et ces satrapes se rendirent tumultueusement auprès du roi, et lui parlèrent ainsi: Roi Darius, vis éternellement! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πον οἱ τακτικοί οὐχ εὑρήσομεν κατὰ Δανιηλ πρόφασιν εἰ μὴ ἐν νομίμοις θεου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Tunc principes et satrapæ surripuerunt regi, et sic locuti sunt ei : Dari rex, in æternum vive ! (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃6 אדין סרכיא ואחשדרפניא אלן הרגשו על מלכא וכן אמרין לה דריוש מלכא לעלמין חיי ‬ (Ⅴ)

All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

- Tous les chefs du royaume, les intendants, les satrapes, les conseillers, et les gouverneurs sont d'avis qu'il soit publié un édit royal, avec une défense sévère, portant que quiconque, dans l'espace de trente jours, adressera des prières à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme, excepté à toi, ô roi, sera jeté dans la fosse aux lions. (Ⅱ)

- τότε οἱ τακτικοὶ καὶ οἱ σατράπαι παρέστησαν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ καὶ εἰ̃παν αὐτω̨̃ Δαρει̃ε βασιλευ̃ εἰς τοὺς αἰω̃νας ζη̃θι (Ⅲ)

- consilium inierunt omnes principes regni tui, magistratus, et satrapæ, senatores, et judices, ut decretum imperatorium exeat, et edictum : ut omnis, qui petierit aliquam petitionem a quocumque deo et homine usque ad triginta dies, nisi a te, rex, mittatur in lacum leonum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃6 אתיעטו כל סרכי מלכותא סגניא ואחשדרפניא הדבריא ופחותא לקימה קים מלכא ולתקפה אסר די כל די יבעה בעו מן כל אלה ואנש עד יומין תלתין להן מנך מלכא יתרמא לגב אריותא ‬ (Ⅴ)

Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

- Maintenant, ô roi, confirme la défense, et écris le décret, afin qu'il soit irrévocable, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est immuable. (Ⅱ)

- συνεβουλεύσαντο πάντες οἱ ἐπὶ τη̃ς βασιλείας σου στρατηγοὶ καὶ σατράπαι ὕπατοι καὶ τοπάρχαι του̃ στη̃σαι στάσει βασιλικη̨̃ καὶ ἐνισχυ̃σαι ὁρισμόν ὅπως ὃς ἂν αἰτήση̨ αἴτημα παρὰ παντὸς θεου̃ καὶ ἀνθρώπου ἕως ἡμερω̃ν τριάκοντα ἀλλ' ἢ παρὰ σου̃ βασιλευ̃ ἐμβληθήσεται εἰς τὸν λάκκον τω̃ν λεόντων (Ⅲ)

- Nunc itaque rex, confirma sententiam, et scribe decretum : ut non immutetur quod statutum est a Medis et Persis, nec prævaricari cuiquam liceat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃6 כען מלכא תקים אסרא ותרשם כתבא די לא להשניה כדת מדי ופרס די לא תעדא ‬ (Ⅴ)

Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

- Là-dessus le roi Darius écrivit le décret et la défense. (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν βασιλευ̃ στη̃σον τὸν ὁρισμὸν καὶ ἔκθες γραφήν ὅπως μὴ ἀλλοιωθη̨̃ τὸ δόγμα Μήδων καὶ Περσω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Porro rex Darius proposuit edictum, et statuit.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃6 כל קבל דנה מלכא דריוש רשם כתבא ואסרא ‬ (Ⅴ)

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

- Lorsque Daniel sut que le décret était écrit, il se retira dans sa maison, où les fenêtres de la chambre supérieure étaient ouvertes dans la direction de Jérusalem; et trois fois le jour il se mettait à genoux, il priait, et il louait son Dieu, comme il le faisait auparavant. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαρει̃ος ἐπέταξεν γραφη̃ναι τὸ δόγμα (Ⅲ)

- Quod cum Daniel comperisset, id est, constitutam legem, ingressus est domum suam : et fenestris apertis in cœnaculo suo contra Jerusalem tribus temporibus in die flectebat genua sua, et adorabat, confitebaturque coram Deo suo sicut et ante facere consueverat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃6 ודניאל כדי ידע די רשים כתבא על לביתה וכוין פתיחן לה בעליתה נגד ירושלם וזמנין תלתה ביומא הוא ברך על ברכוהי ומצלא ומודא קדם אלהה כל קבל די הוא עבד מן קדמת דנה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

- Alors ces hommes entrèrent tumultueusement, et ils trouvèrent Daniel qui priait et invoquait son Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Δανιηλ ἡνίκα ἔγνω ὅτι ἐνετάγη τὸ δόγμα εἰση̃λθεν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ καὶ αἱ θυρίδες ἀνεω̨γμέναι αὐτω̨̃ ἐν τοι̃ς ὑπερώ̨οις αὐτου̃ κατέναντι Ιερουσαλημ καὶ καιροὺς τρει̃ς τη̃ς ἡμέρας ἠ̃ν κάμπτων ἐπὶ τὰ γόνατα αὐτου̃ καὶ προσευχόμενος καὶ ἐξομολογούμενος ἐναντίον του̃ θεου̃ αὐτου̃ καθὼς ἠ̃ν ποιω̃ν ἔμπροσθεν (Ⅲ)

- Viri ergo illi curiosius inquirentes invenerunt Danielem orantem, et obsecrantem Deum suum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃6 אדין גבריא אלך הרגשו והשכחו לדניאל בעא ומתחנן קדם אלהה ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 12

Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

- Puis ils se présentèrent devant le roi, et lui dirent au sujet de la défense royale: N'as-tu pas écrit une défense portant que quiconque dans l'espace de trente jours adresserait des prières à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme, excepté à toi, ô roi, serait jeté dans la fosse aux lions? Le roi répondit: La chose est certaine, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est immuable. (Ⅱ)

- τότε οἱ ἄνδρες ἐκει̃νοι παρετήρησαν καὶ εὑ̃ρον τὸν Δανιηλ ἀξιου̃ντα καὶ δεόμενον του̃ θεου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et accedentes locuti sunt regi super edicto : Rex, numquid non constituisti ut omnis homo qui rogaret quemquam de diis et hominibus usque ad dies triginta, nisi te, rex, mitteretur in lacum leonum ? Ad quos respondens rex, ait : Verus est sermo juxta decretum Medorum atque Persarum, quod prævaricari non licet. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃6 באדין קריבו ואמרין קדם מלכא על אסר מלכא הלא אסר רשמת די כל אנש די יבעה מן כל אלה ואנש עד יומין תלתין להן מנך מלכא יתרמא לגוב אריותא ענה מלכא ואמר יציבא מלתא כדת מדי ופרס די לא תעדא ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 13

Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

- Ils prirent de nouveau la parole et dirent au roi: Daniel, l'un des captifs de Juda, n'a tenu aucun compte de toi, ô roi, ni de la défense que tu as écrite, et il fait sa prière trois fois le jour. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσελθόντες λέγουσιν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ βασιλευ̃ οὐχ ὁρισμὸν ἔταξας ὅπως πα̃ς ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἂν αἰτήση̨ παρὰ παντὸς θεου̃ καὶ ἀνθρώπου αἴτημα ἕως ἡμερω̃ν τριάκοντα ἀλλ' ἢ παρὰ σου̃ βασιλευ̃ ἐμβληθήσεται εἰς τὸν λάκκον τω̃ν λεόντων καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς ἀληθινὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ τὸ δόγμα Μήδων καὶ Περσω̃ν οὐ παρελεύσεται (Ⅲ)

- Tunc respondentes dixerunt coram rege : Daniel de filiis captivitatis Juda, non curavit de lege tua, et de edicto quod constituisti : sed tribus temporibus per diem orat obsecratione sua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃6 באדין ענו ואמרין קדם מלכא די דניאל די מן בני גלותא די יהוד לא שם *עליך **עלך מלכא טעם ועל אסרא די רשמת וזמנין תלתה ביומא בעא בעותה ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

- Le roi fut très affligé quand il entendit cela; il prit à coeur de délivrer Daniel, et jusqu'au coucher du soleil il s'efforça de le sauver. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ λέγουσιν ἐνώπιον του̃ βασιλέως Δανιηλ ὁ ἀπὸ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν τη̃ς αἰχμαλωσίας τη̃ς Ιουδαίας οὐχ ὑπετάγη τω̨̃ δόγματί σου περὶ του̃ ὁρισμου̃ οὑ̃ ἔταξας καὶ καιροὺς τρει̃ς τη̃ς ἡμέρας αἰτει̃ παρὰ του̃ θεου̃ αὐτου̃ τὰ αἰτήματα αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Quod verbum cum audisset rex, satis contristatus est : et pro Daniele posuit cor ut liberaret eum, et usque ad occasum solis laborabat ut erueret illum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃6 אדין מלכא כדי מלתא שמע שגיא באש עלוהי ועל דניאל שם בל לשיזבותה ועד מעלי שמשא הוא משתדר להצלותה ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

- Mais ces hommes insistèrent auprès du roi, et lui dirent: Sache, ô roi, que la loi des Mèdes et des Perses exige que toute défense ou tout décret confirmé par le roi soit irrévocable. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ὁ βασιλεύς ὡς τὸ ῥη̃μα ἤκουσεν πολὺ ἐλυπήθη ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ καὶ περὶ του̃ Δανιηλ ἠγωνίσατο του̃ ἐξελέσθαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἕως ἑσπέρας ἠ̃ν ἀγωνιζόμενος του̃ ἐξελέσθαι αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Viri autem illi, intelligentes regem, dixerunt ei : Scito, rex, quia lex Medorum atque Persarum est ut omne decretum, quod constituerit rex, non liceat immutari. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃6 באדין גבריא אלך הרגשו על מלכא ואמרין למלכא דע מלכא די דת למדי ופרס די כל אסר וקים די מלכא יהקים לא להשניה ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

- Alors le roi donna l'ordre qu'on amenât Daniel, et qu'on le jetât dans la fosse aux lions. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel: Puisse ton Dieu, que tu sers avec persévérance, te délivrer! (Ⅱ)

- τότε οἱ ἄνδρες ἐκει̃νοι λέγουσιν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ γνω̃θι βασιλευ̃ ὅτι δόγμα Μήδοις καὶ Πέρσαις του̃ πα̃ν ὁρισμὸν καὶ στάσιν ἣν ἂν ὁ βασιλεὺς στήση̨ οὐ δει̃ παραλλάξαι (Ⅲ)

- Tunc rex præcepit, et adduxerunt Danielem, et miserunt eum in lacum leonum. Dixitque rex Danieli : Deus tuus, quem colis semper, ipse liberabit te. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃6 באדין מלכא אמר והיתיו לדניאל ורמו לגבא די אריותא ענה מלכא ואמר לדניאל אלהך די *אנתה **אנת פלח לה בתדירא הוא ישיזבנך ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 17

And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

- On apporta une pierre, et on la mit sur l'ouverture de la fosse; le roi la scella de son anneau et de l'anneau de ses grands, afin que rien ne fût changé à l'égard de Daniel. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰ̃πεν καὶ ἤγαγον τὸν Δανιηλ καὶ ἐνέβαλον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν λάκκον τω̃ν λεόντων καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τω̨̃ Δανιηλ ὁ θεός σου ὡ̨̃ σὺ λατρεύεις ἐνδελεχω̃ς αὐτὸς ἐξελει̃ταί σε (Ⅲ)

- Allatusque est lapis unus, et positus est super os laci : quem obsignavit rex annulo suo, et annulo optimatum suorum, ne quid fieret contra Danielem.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃6 והיתית אבן חדה ושמת על פם גבא וחתמה מלכא בעזקתה ובעזקת רברבנוהי די לא תשנא צבו בדניאל ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 18

Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

- Le roi se rendit ensuite dans son palais; il passa la nuit à jeun, il ne fit point venir de concubine auprès de lui, et il ne put se livrer au sommeil. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤνεγκαν λίθον καὶ ἐπέθηκαν ἐπὶ τὸ στόμα του̃ λάκκου καὶ ἐσφραγίσατο ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐν τω̨̃ δακτυλίω̨ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ δακτυλίω̨ τω̃ν μεγιστάνων αὐτου̃ ὅπως μὴ ἀλλοιωθη̨̃ πρα̃γμα ἐν τω̨̃ Δανιηλ (Ⅲ)

- Et abiit rex in domum suam, et dormivit incœnatus, cibique non sunt allati coram eo, insuper et somnus recessit ab eo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃6 אדין אזל מלכא להיכלה ובת טות ודחון לא הנעל קדמוהי ושנתה נדת עלוהי ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 19

Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

- Le roi se leva au point du jour, avec l'aurore, et il alla précipitamment à la fosse aux lions. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἄδειπνος καὶ ἐδέσματα οὐκ εἰσήνεγκαν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ὁ ὕπνος ἀπέστη ἀπ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέκλεισεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ στόματα τω̃ν λεόντων καὶ οὐ παρηνώχλησαν τω̨̃ Δανιηλ (Ⅲ)

- Tunc rex primo diluculo consurgens, festinus ad lacum leonum perrexit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃6 באדין מלכא בשפרפרא יקום בנגהא ובהתבהלה לגבא די אריותא אזל ‬ (Ⅴ)

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

- En s'approchant de la fosse, il appela Daniel d'une voix triste. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel: Daniel, serviteur du Dieu vivant, ton Dieu, que tu sers avec persévérance, a-t-il pu te délivrer des lions? (Ⅱ)

- τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς ἀνέστη τὸ πρωὶ ἐν τω̨̃ φωτὶ καὶ ἐν σπουδη̨̃ ἠ̃λθεν ἐπὶ τὸν λάκκον τω̃ν λεόντων (Ⅲ)

- appropinquansque lacui, Danielem voce lacrimabili inclamavit, et affatus est eum : Daniel serve Dei viventis, Deus tuus, cui tu servis semper, putasne valuit te liberare a leonibus ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃6 וכמקרבה לגבא לדניאל בקל עציב זעק ענה מלכא ואמר לדניאל דניאל עבד אלהא חיא אלהך די *אנתה **אנת פלח לה בתדירא היכל לשיזבותך מן אריותא ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

- Et Daniel dit au roi: Roi, vis éternellement? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ ἐγγίζειν αὐτὸν τω̨̃ λάκκω̨ ἐβόησεν φωνη̨̃ ἰσχυρα̨̃ Δανιηλ ὁ δου̃λος του̃ θεου̃ του̃ ζω̃ντος ὁ θεός σου ὡ̨̃ σὺ λατρεύεις ἐνδελεχω̃ς εἰ ἠδυνήθη ἐξελέσθαι σε ἐκ στόματος τω̃ν λεόντων (Ⅲ)

- Et Daniel regi respondens ait : Rex, in æternum vive ! (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃6 אדין דניאל עם מלכא מלל מלכא לעלמין חיי ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 22

My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

- Mon Dieu a envoyé son ange et fermé la gueule des lions, qui ne m'ont fait aucun mal, parce que j'ai été trouvé innocent devant lui; et devant toi non plus, ô roi, je n'ai rien fait de mauvais. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δανιηλ τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ βασιλευ̃ εἰς τοὺς αἰω̃νας ζη̃θι (Ⅲ)

- Deus meus misit angelum suum, et conclusit ora leonum, et non nocuerunt mihi : quia coram eo justitia inventa est in me : sed et coram te, rex, delictum non feci. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃6 אלהי שלח מלאכה וסגר פם אריותא ולא חבלוני כל קבל די קדמוהי זכו השתכחת לי ואף *קדמיך **קדמך מלכא חבולה לא עבדת ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 23

Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

- Alors le roi fut très joyeux, et il ordonna qu'on fît sortir Daniel de la fosse. Daniel fut retiré de la fosse, et on ne trouva sur lui aucune blessure, parce qu'il avait eu confiance en son Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ θεός μου ἀπέστειλεν τὸν ἄγγελον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐνέφραξεν τὰ στόματα τω̃ν λεόντων καὶ οὐκ ἐλυμήναντό με ὅτι κατέναντι αὐτου̃ εὐθύτης ηὑρέθη μοι καὶ ἐνώπιον δὲ σου̃ βασιλευ̃ παράπτωμα οὐκ ἐποίησα (Ⅲ)

- Tunc vehementer rex gavisus est super eo, et Danielem præcepit educi de lacu : eductusque est Daniel de lacu, et nulla læsio inventa est in eo, quia credidit Deo suo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃6 באדין מלכא שגיא טאב עלוהי ולדניאל אמר להנסקה מן גבא והסק דניאל מן גבא וכל חבל לא השתכח בה די הימן באלהה ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 24

And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

- Le roi ordonna que ces hommes qui avaient accusé Daniel fussent amenés et jetés dans la fosse aux lions, eux, leurs enfants et leurs femmes; et avant qu'ils fussent parvenus au fond de la fosse, les lions les saisirent et brisèrent tous leur os. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ὁ βασιλεὺς πολὺ ἠγαθύνθη ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ καὶ τὸν Δανιηλ εἰ̃πεν ἀνενέγκαι ἐκ του̃ λάκκου καὶ ἀνηνέχθη Δανιηλ ἐκ του̃ λάκκου καὶ πα̃σα διαφθορὰ οὐχ εὑρέθη ἐν αὐτω̨̃ ὅτι ἐπίστευσεν ἐν τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Jubente autem rege, adducti sunt viri illi, qui accusaverant Danielem : et in lacum leonum missi sunt, ipsi, et filii, et uxores eorum : et non pervenerunt usque ad pavimentum laci, donec arriperent eos leones, et omnia ossa eorum comminuerunt. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃6 ואמר מלכא והיתיו גבריא אלך די אכלו קרצוהי די דניאל ולגב אריותא רמו אנון בניהון ונשיהון ולא מטו לארעית גבא עד די שלטו בהון אריותא וכל גרמיהון הדקו ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 25

Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

- Après cela, le roi Darius écrivit à tous les peuples, à toutes les nations, aux hommes de toutes langues, qui habitaient sur toute la terre: Que la paix vous soit donnée avec abondance! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ ἠγάγοσαν τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς διαβαλόντας τὸν Δανιηλ καὶ εἰς τὸν λάκκον τω̃ν λεόντων ἐνεβλήθησαν αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτω̃ν καὶ αἱ γυναι̃κες αὐτω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἔφθασαν εἰς τὸ ἔδαφος του̃ λάκκου ἕως οὑ̃ ἐκυρίευσαν αὐτω̃ν οἱ λέοντες καὶ πάντα τὰ ὀστα̃ αὐτω̃ν ἐλέπτυναν (Ⅲ)

- Tunc Darius rex scripsit universis populis, tribubus, et linguis habitantibus in universa terra : Pax vobis multiplicetur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃6 באדין דריוש מלכא כתב לכל עממיא אמיא ולשניא די *דארין **דירין בכל ארעא שלמכון ישגא ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 26

I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

- J'ordonne que, dans toute l'étendue de mon royaume, on ait de la crainte et de la frayeur pour le Dieu de Daniel. Car il est le Dieu vivant, et il subsiste éternellement; son royaume ne sera jamais détruit, et sa domination durera jusqu'à la fin. (Ⅱ)

- τότε Δαρει̃ος ὁ βασιλεὺς ἔγραψεν πα̃σι τοι̃ς λαοι̃ς φυλαι̃ς γλώσσαις τοι̃ς οἰκου̃σιν ἐν πάση̨ τη̨̃ γη̨̃ εἰρήνη ὑμι̃ν πληθυνθείη (Ⅲ)

- A me constitutum est decretum, ut in universo imperio et regno meo, tremiscant et paveant Deum Danielis : ipse est enim Deus vivens, et æternus in sæcula, et regnum ejus non dissipabitur, et potestas ejus usque in æternum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃6 מן קדמי שים טעם די בכל שלטן מלכותי להון *זאעין **זיעין ודחלין מן קדם אלהה די דניאל די הוא אלהא חיא וקים לעלמין ומלכותה די לא תתחבל ושלטנה עד סופא ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 27

He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

- C'est lui qui délivre et qui sauve, qui opère des signes et des prodiges dans les cieux et sur la terre. C'est lui qui a délivré Daniel de la puissance des lions. (Ⅱ)

- ἐκ προσώπου μου ἐτέθη δόγμα του̃ ἐν πάση̨ ἀρχη̨̃ τη̃ς βασιλείας μου εἰ̃ναι τρέμοντας καὶ φοβουμένους ἀπὸ προσώπου του̃ θεου̃ Δανιηλ ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν θεὸς ζω̃ν καὶ μένων εἰς τοὺς αἰω̃νας καὶ ἡ βασιλεία αὐτου̃ οὐ διαφθαρήσεται καὶ ἡ κυριεία αὐτου̃ ἕως τέλους (Ⅲ)

- Ipse liberator atque salvator, faciens signa et mirabilia in cælo et in terra : qui liberavit Danielem de lacu leonum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃6 משיזב ומצל ועבד אתין ותמהין בשמיא ובארעא די שיזיב לדניאל מן יד אריותא ‬ (Ⅴ)

6. 28

So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

- Daniel prospéra sous le règne de Darius, et sous le règne de Cyrus, le Perse. (Ⅱ)

- ἀντιλαμβάνεται καὶ ῥύεται καὶ ποιει̃ σημει̃α καὶ τέρατα ἐν οὐρανω̨̃ καὶ ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ὅστις ἐξείλατο τὸν Δανιηλ ἐκ χειρὸς τω̃ν λεόντων (Ⅲ)

- Porro Daniel perseveravit usque ad regnum Darii, regnumque Cyri Persæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃6 ודניאל דנה הצלח במלכות דריוש ובמלכות כורש *פרסיא **פרסאה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
