The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

54.
1
The hour drew nigh (or is nigh) and the moon was rent in twain (or is rent).
- Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru (Ⅰ) - The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. (Ⅱ) - The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ (Ⅳ) - The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. (Ⅵ)

54.

And if they see a Sign they turn aside and say, "Transient magic."
- Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun (Ⅰ) - And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. (Ⅱ) - Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say ´A continuous sorcery!´ (Ⅲ) - وَإِن يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ (Ⅳ) - But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." (Ⅵ)

54.

And they call it a lie, and follow their own low desires; but every affair has its appointed term.
- Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun (Ⅰ) - They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision (Ⅱ) - They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. (Ⅲ) - وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (Ⅳ) - They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. (Ⅵ)

54.

And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is a deterrent,
- Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarun (Ⅰ) - And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, (Ⅱ) - And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُم مِّنَ الْأَنبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ (Ⅳ) - There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), (Ⅵ)

54.

Consummate wisdom - but warnings avail not;
- Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuru (Ⅰ) - Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. (Ⅱ) - a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. (Ⅲ) - حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ (Ⅳ) - Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. (Ⅵ)

So turn your back on them for the Day when the Summoner summons them unto a terrible affair,
- Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurin (Ⅰ) - So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. (Ⅱ) - So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, (Ⅲ) - فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُّكُرٍ (Ⅳ) - Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, (Ⅵ)

54.

With downcast eyes, they come forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts,
- KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirun (Ⅰ) - With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, (Ⅱ) - abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, (Ⅲ) - خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ (Ⅳ) - They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, (Ⅵ)

|
|
54.

Hastening towards the Summoner. The unbelievers shall say, "This is a hard day."
- MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirun (Ⅰ) - Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. (Ⅱ) - running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, ´This is a hard day!´ (Ⅲ) - مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ (Ⅳ) - Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. (Ⅵ)

54.

Before them the people of Noah rejected, yea they reject Our servant and called him mad, and he was driven away.
- Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujira (Ⅰ) - The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. (Ⅱ) - The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, ´A man possessed!´ And he was rejected. (Ⅲ) - ۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ (Ⅳ) - Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. (Ⅵ)

|
54.

Therefore he called upon his Lord, "I am overcome, come you then to help."
- FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun faintasir (Ⅰ) - So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. (Ⅱ) - And so he called unto his Lord, saying, ´I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!´ (Ⅲ) - فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ (Ⅳ) - Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" (Ⅵ)

54.

So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth
- Fafatahna abwaba alssamai bimain munhamirin (Ⅰ) - Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water (Ⅱ) - Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, (Ⅲ) - فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ (Ⅳ) - So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. (Ⅵ)

54.

And We caused water to gush forth from the land in springs; so the waters gathered together and rose according to a measure already ordained.
- Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudira (Ⅰ) - And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. (Ⅱ) - and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. (Ⅲ) - وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ (Ⅳ) - And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. (Ⅵ)

54.

And We bore him on that (the Ark) which was made of planks and nails (or ties of palm-fibre)
- Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurin (Ⅰ) - And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, (Ⅱ) - And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked (Ⅲ) - وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ (Ⅳ) - But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: (Ⅵ)

54.

Floating before Our eyes, a reward for him who was rejected.
- Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufira (Ⅰ) - That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. (Ⅱ) - running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. (Ⅲ) - تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ (Ⅳ) - She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! (Ⅵ)

54.

And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone that remembers (or takes heed).
- Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirin (Ⅰ) - And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth ? (Ⅱ) - And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (Ⅳ) - And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? (Ⅵ)

How great was then My punishment after My warning!
- Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri (Ⅰ) - Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! (Ⅱ) - How then were My chastisement and My warnings? (Ⅲ) - فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (Ⅳ) - But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? (Ⅵ)

And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will heed?
- Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin (Ⅰ) - And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth ? (Ⅱ) - Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (Ⅳ) - And We have indeed made the Qur´an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? (Ⅵ)

A´ad treated the truth as a lie, so how great was My punishment after My warning!
- Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri (Ⅰ) - (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. (Ⅱ) - Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? (Ⅲ) - كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (Ⅳ) - The ´Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? (Ⅵ)

54.

Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of violent disaster,
- Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin (Ⅰ) - Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, (Ⅱ) - We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ (Ⅳ) - For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, (Ⅵ)

|
54.

Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees uprooted.
- TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirin (Ⅰ) - Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. (Ⅱ) - plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. (Ⅲ) - تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ (Ⅳ) - Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). (Ⅵ)

How great was then My punishment after My warning!
- Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri (Ⅰ) - Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! (Ⅱ) - How then were My chastisement and My warnings? (Ⅲ) - فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (Ⅳ) - Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! (Ⅵ)

Thamud rejected the warning.
- Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuri (Ⅰ) - (The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings (Ⅱ) - Thamood cried lies to the warnings (Ⅲ) - كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ (Ⅳ) - The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. (Ⅵ)

54.

So they said, "What! A single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall then be in sure error and madness:
- Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurin (Ⅰ) - For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow ? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. (Ⅱ) - and said, ´What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! (Ⅲ) - فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ (Ⅳ) - For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! (Ⅵ)

54.

"Can it be that the reminder has been sent to him of all the people among us? Nay! He is an insolent liar!"
- Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirun (Ⅰ) - Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us ? Nay, but he is a rash liar. (Ⅱ) - Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.´ (Ⅲ) - أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِن بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ (Ⅳ) - "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" (Ⅵ)

|
|
54.

Ah, tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one.
- SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiru (Ⅰ) - (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. (Ⅱ) - ´They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. (Ⅲ) - سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ (Ⅳ) - Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! (Ⅵ)

54.

Surely We shall send them the she-camel as a trial; therefore, watch them and have patience.
- Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabir (Ⅰ) - Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; (Ⅱ) - They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ (Ⅳ) - For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! (Ⅵ)

|
54.

And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; every drinking shall be regulated.
- Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarun (Ⅰ) - And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. (Ⅱ) - And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. (Ⅲ) - وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ (Ⅳ) - And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one´s right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). (Ⅵ)

But they called their companion, who took (the sword) and hamstrung her.
- Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAata faAAaqara (Ⅰ) - But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). (Ⅱ) - Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. (Ⅲ) - فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ (Ⅳ) - But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). (Ⅵ)

How great was then My punishment after My warning!
- Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri (Ⅰ) - Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! (Ⅱ) - How then were My chastisement and My warnings? (Ⅲ) - فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (Ⅳ) - Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! (Ⅵ)

Surely We sent upon them a single Shout (or Blast), so they became like the dry stubble which the maker of an enclosure collects.
- Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiri (Ⅰ) - Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. (Ⅱ) - We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ (Ⅳ) - For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. (Ⅵ)

(Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (Ⅳ) - And We have indeed made the Qur´an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? (Ⅵ)

The people of Lot treated the warning. as a lie.
- Kaththabat qawmu lootin bialnnuthuri (Ⅰ) - The folk of Lot rejected warnings. (Ⅱ) - The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. (Ⅲ) - كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ (Ⅳ) - The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. (Ⅵ)

|
54.

Surely We sent upon them a storm with stones, except Lot´s followers; We saved them a little before daybreak,
- Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin (Ⅰ) - Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, (Ⅱ) - We loosed against them a squall of pebbles except the folk of Lot; We delivered them at the dawn -- (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَاهُم بِسَحَرٍ (Ⅳ) - We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut´s household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- (Ⅵ)

54.

A favour from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks.
- NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakara (Ⅰ) - As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. (Ⅱ) - a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. (Ⅲ) - نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَن شَكَرَ (Ⅳ) - As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. (Ⅵ)

And certainly he (Lot) warned them of Our violent punishment, but they obstinately disputed the warning.
- Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuri (Ⅰ) - And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. (Ⅱ) - He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ (Ⅳ) - And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. (Ⅵ)

And they endeavoured to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes; "So taste you My chastisement and My warning.
- Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri (Ⅰ) - They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! (Ⅱ) - Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, ´Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!´ (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (Ⅳ) - And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." (Ⅵ)

54.

And early in the morning a lasting chastisement overtook them.
- Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun (Ⅰ) - And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. (Ⅱ) - In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (Ⅳ) - Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: (Ⅵ)

"So taste you My chastisement after My warning."
- Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri (Ⅰ) - Now taste My punishment after My warnings! (Ⅱ) - ´Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!´ (Ⅲ) - فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (Ⅳ) - "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." (Ⅵ)

And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will heed?
- Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin (Ⅰ) - And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth ? (Ⅱ) - Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ (Ⅳ) - And We have indeed made the Qur´an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? (Ⅵ)

And certainly the warning came to Pharaoh´s people.
- Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuru (Ⅰ) - And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh (Ⅱ) - The warnings came also to Pharaoh´s folk. (Ⅲ) - وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ (Ⅳ) - To the People of Pharaoh, too, aforetime, came Warners (from Allah). (Ⅵ)

They rejected all Our Signs, so We overtook them with such a penalty as comes from One Mighty, Powerful.
- Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirin (Ⅰ) - Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful. (Ⅱ) - They cried lies to Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with the seizing of One mighty, omnipotent. (Ⅲ) - كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ (Ⅳ) - The (people) rejected all Our Signs; but We seized them with such Penalty (as comes) from One Exalted in Power, able to carry out His Will. (Ⅵ)

Are the unbelievers of yours (O Quraish) better than these, or is there an exemption for you in the Sacred Books?
- Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburi (Ⅰ) - Are your disbelievers better than those, or have ye some immunity in the scriptures ? (Ⅱ) - What, are your unbelievers better than those? Or have you an immunity in the Scrolls? (Ⅲ) - أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُولَٰئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ (Ⅳ) - Are your Unbelievers, (O Quraish), better than they? Or have ye an immunity in the Sacred Books? (Ⅵ)

Or do they say, "We are a host allied together to help each other?
- Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirun (Ⅰ) - Or say they: We are a host victorious ? (Ⅱ) - Or do they say, ´We are a congregation that shall be succoured?´ (Ⅲ) - أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ (Ⅳ) - Or do they say: "We acting together can defend ourselves"? (Ⅵ)

But soon shall the hosts be routed, and they shall flee.
- Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura (Ⅰ) - The hosts will all be routed and will turn and flee. (Ⅱ) - Certainly the host shall be routed, and turn their backs. (Ⅲ) - سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ (Ⅳ) - Soon will their multitude be put to flight, and they will show their backs. (Ⅵ)

Nay, the Hour is their promised time, and the Hour shall be most grievous and bitter.
- Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarru (Ⅰ) - Nay, but the Hour (of doom) is their appointed tryst, and the Hour will be more wretched and more bitter (than their earthly failure). (Ⅱ) - Nay, but the Hour is their tryst, and the Hour is very calamitous and bitter. (Ⅲ) - بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ (Ⅳ) - Nay, the Hour (of Judgment) is the time promised them (for their full recompense): And that Hour will be most grievous and most bitter. (Ⅵ)

Surely it is the guilty who are in error and madness.
- Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurin (Ⅰ) - Lo! the guilty are in error and madness. (Ⅱ) - Surely the sinners are in error and insanity! (Ⅲ) - إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ (Ⅳ) - Truly those in sin are the ones straying in mind, and mad. (Ⅵ)

On the day when they shall be dragged upon their faces into the Fire, "Taste the touch of hell."
- Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqara (Ⅰ) - On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell. (Ⅱ) - The day when they are dragged on their faces into the Fire: ´Taste now the touch of Sakar!´ (Ⅲ) - يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ (Ⅳ) - The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, (they will hear:) "Taste ye the touch of Hell!" (Ⅵ)

Surely We have created everything according to a measure.
- Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarin (Ⅰ) - Lo! We have created every thing by measure. (Ⅱ) - Surely We have created everything in measure. (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ (Ⅳ) - Verily, all things have We created in proportion and measure. (Ⅵ)
