80. 0  
Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅴ)
80. 1  
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
- AAabasa watawalla (Ⅰ)
- He frowned and turned his back, (Ⅱ)
- He frowned and turned away (Ⅲ)
- He frowned and turned away (Ⅳ)
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 2  
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
- An jaahu alaAAma (Ⅰ)
- Because there came to him the blind man. (Ⅱ)
- Because the blind man came unto him. (Ⅲ)
- that the blind man came to him. (Ⅳ)
- أَن جَاءَهُ الْأَعْمَىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 3  
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-
- Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka (Ⅰ)
- And what would make you know that he would grow (spiritually) (Ⅱ)
- What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) (Ⅲ)
- And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, (Ⅳ)
- وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 4  
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
- Aw yaththakkaru fatanfaAAahu alththikra (Ⅰ)
- Or that he might become heedful so that the reminder should profit him? (Ⅱ)
- Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him ? (Ⅲ)
- or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. (Ⅳ)
- أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 5  
As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,
- Amma mani istaghna (Ⅰ)
- As for him who considers himself independent (or self-sufficient), (Ⅱ)
- As for him who thinketh himself independent, (Ⅲ)
- But the self-sufficient, (Ⅳ)
- أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 6  
To him dost thou attend;
- Faanta lahu tasadda (Ⅰ)
- To him do you attend. (Ⅱ)
- Unto him thou payest regard. (Ⅲ)
- to him thou attendest (Ⅳ)
- فَأَنتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 7  
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
- Wama AAalayka alla yazzakka (Ⅰ)
- Yet no blame is on you if he grow not (spiritually). (Ⅱ)
- Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). (Ⅲ)
- though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. (Ⅳ)
- وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 8  
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
- Waamma man jaaka yasAAa (Ⅰ)
- And as to him who comes to you striving earnestly, (Ⅱ)
- But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose (Ⅲ)
- And he who comes to thee eagerly (Ⅳ)
- وَأَمَّا مَن جَاءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 9  
And with fear (in his heart),
- Wahuwa yakhsha (Ⅰ)
- And with the fear of Allah in his heart, (Ⅱ)
- And hath fear, (Ⅲ)
- and fearfully, (Ⅳ)
- وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 10  
Of him wast thou unmindful.
- Faanta AAanhu talahha (Ⅰ)
- From him were you unmindful (or distracted). (Ⅱ)
- From him thou art distracted. (Ⅲ)
- to him thou payest no heed. (Ⅳ)
- فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ (Ⅴ)
80. 11  
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
- Kalla innaha tathkiratun (Ⅰ)
- Nay! Verily, it is an admonishment (or a message of instructions). (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, (Ⅲ)
- No indeed; it is a Reminder (Ⅳ)
- كَلَّا إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ (Ⅴ)
80. 12  
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
- Faman shaa thakarahu (Ⅰ)
- So let whoever will pay heed to it. (Ⅱ)
- So let whosoever will pay heed to it, (Ⅲ)
- (and whoso wills, shall remember it) (Ⅳ)
- فَمَن شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 13  
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
- Fee suhufin mukarramatin (Ⅰ)
- It is in honoured books, (Ⅱ)
- On honoured leaves (Ⅲ)
- upon pages high-honoured, (Ⅳ)
- فِي صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ (Ⅴ)
80. 14  
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
- MarfooAAatin mutahharatin (Ⅰ)
- Exalted, purified, (Ⅱ)
- Exalted, purified, (Ⅲ)
- uplifted, purified, (Ⅳ)
- مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍ (Ⅴ)
80. 15  
(Written) by the hands of scribes-
- Biaydee safaratin (Ⅰ)
- Set down by scribes (Ⅱ)
- (Set down) by scribes (Ⅲ)
- by the hands of scribes (Ⅳ)
- بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَةٍ (Ⅴ)
80. 16  
Honourable and Pious and Just.
- Kiramin bararatin (Ⅰ)
- Noble and righteous. (Ⅱ)
- Noble and righteous. (Ⅲ)
- noble, pious. (Ⅳ)
- كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ (Ⅴ)
80. 17  
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
- Qutila alinsanu ma akfarahu (Ⅰ)
- Cursed (self-destroyed) is man! How ungrateful (to Allah) is he! (Ⅱ)
- Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! (Ⅲ)
- Perish Man! How unthankful he is! (Ⅳ)
- قُتِلَ الْإِنسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 18  
From what stuff hath He created him?
- Min ayyi shayin khalaqahu (Ⅰ)
- Of what stuff did He create him? (Ⅱ)
- From what thing doth He create him ? (Ⅲ)
- Of what did He create him? (Ⅳ)
- مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 19  
From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
- Min nutfatin khalaqahu faqaddarahu (Ⅰ)
- Of a small seed; He created him, then gave him due proportions, (Ⅱ)
- From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, (Ⅲ)
- Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, (Ⅳ)
- مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 20  
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
- Thumma alssabeela yassarahu (Ⅰ)
- Then He made his way easy for him, (Ⅱ)
- Then maketh the way easy for him, (Ⅲ)
- then the way eased for him, (Ⅳ)
- ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 21  
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
- Thumma amatahu faaqbarahu (Ⅰ)
- Then He causes him to die and buries him in his grave, (Ⅱ)
- Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; (Ⅲ)
- then makes him to die, and buries him, (Ⅳ)
- ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 22  
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
- Thumma itha shaa ansharahu (Ⅰ)
- Then when He wills, He will raise him to life again. (Ⅱ)
- Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. (Ⅲ)
- then, when He wills, He raises him. (Ⅳ)
- ثُمَّ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنشَرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 23  
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
- Kalla lamma yaqdi ma amarahu (Ⅰ)
- Nay; but man has not done that which He bade him. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. (Ⅲ)
- No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. (Ⅳ)
- كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَا أَمَرَهُ (Ⅴ)
80. 24  
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
- Falyanthuri alinsanu ila taAAamihi (Ⅰ)
- Then let man consider his food, (Ⅱ)
- Let man consider his food: (Ⅲ)
- Let Man consider his nourishment. (Ⅳ)
- فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِ (Ⅴ)
80. 25  
For that We pour forth water in abundance,
- Anna sababna almaa sabban (Ⅰ)
- That We pour down the water in abundance, (Ⅱ)
- How We pour water in showers (Ⅲ)
- We poured out the rains abundantly, (Ⅳ)
- أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا الْمَاءَ صَبًّا (Ⅴ)
80. 26  
And We split the earth in fragments,
- Thumma shaqaqna alarda shaqqan (Ⅰ)
- Then We cleave the earth, (Ⅱ)
- Then split the earth in clefts (Ⅲ)
- then We split the earth in fissures (Ⅳ)
- ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا الْأَرْضَ شَقًّا (Ⅴ)
80. 27  
And produce therein corn,
- Faanbatna feeha habban (Ⅰ)
- Then We cause to grow therein the grain, (Ⅱ)
- And cause the grain to grow therein (Ⅲ)
- and therein made the grains to grow (Ⅳ)
- فَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا (Ⅴ)
80. 28  
And Grapes and nutritious plants,
- WaAAinaban waqadban (Ⅰ)
- And grapes and clover, (Ⅱ)
- And grapes and green fodder (Ⅲ)
- and vines, and reeds, (Ⅳ)
- وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا (Ⅴ)
80. 29  
And Olives and Dates,
- Wazaytoonan wanakhlan (Ⅰ)
- And the olive and the palm, (Ⅱ)
- And olive-trees and palm-trees (Ⅲ)
- and olives, and palms, (Ⅳ)
- وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا (Ⅴ)
80. 30  
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
- Wahadaiqa ghulban (Ⅰ)
- And dense luxurious gardens, (Ⅱ)
- And garden-closes of thick foliage (Ⅲ)
- and dense-tree´d gardens, (Ⅳ)
- وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا (Ⅴ)
80. 31  
And fruits and fodder,-
- Wafakihatan waabban (Ⅰ)
- And fruits and herbage (Ⅱ)
- And fruits and grasses: (Ⅲ)
- and fruits, and pastures, (Ⅳ)
- وَفَاكِهَةً وَأَبًّا (Ⅴ)
80. 32  
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
- MataAAan lakum walianAAamikum (Ⅰ)
- A provision for you and for your cattle. (Ⅱ)
- Provision for you and your cattle. (Ⅲ)
- an enjoyment for you and your flocks. (Ⅳ)
- مَّتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ (Ⅴ)
80. 33  
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,-
- Faitha jaati alssakhkhatu (Ⅰ)
- But when the Deafening Noise (cataclysm) comes, (Ⅱ)
- But when the Shout cometh (Ⅲ)
- And when the Blast shall sound, (Ⅳ)
- فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الصَّاخَّةُ (Ⅴ)
80. 34  
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
- Yawma yafirru almaro min akheehi (Ⅰ)
- The Day on which a man shall fly from his brother, (Ⅱ)
- On the day when a man fleeth from his brother (Ⅲ)
- upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, (Ⅳ)
- يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ (Ⅴ)
80. 35  
And from his mother and his father,
- Waommihi waabeehi (Ⅰ)
- And his mother and his father, (Ⅱ)
- And his mother and his father (Ⅲ)
- his mother, his father, (Ⅳ)
- وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ (Ⅴ)
80. 36  
And from his wife and his children.
- Wasahibatihi wabaneehi (Ⅰ)
- And his spouse and his children, (Ⅱ)
- And his wife and his children, (Ⅲ)
- his consort, his sons, (Ⅳ)
- وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ (Ⅴ)
80. 37  
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
- Likulli imriin minhum yawmaithin shanun yughneehi (Ⅰ)
- Every man of them shall on that Day be occupied with concerns which will make him heedless of others. (Ⅱ)
- Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). (Ⅲ)
- every man that day shall have business to suffice him. (Ⅳ)
- لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ (Ⅴ)
80. 38  
Some faces that Day will be beaming,
- Wujoohun yawmaithin musfiratun (Ⅰ)
- Many faces on that Day shall be bright as dawn (or beaming with light), (Ⅱ)
- On that day faces will be bright as dawn, (Ⅲ)
- Some faces on that day shall shine (Ⅳ)
- وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ (Ⅴ)
80. 39  
Laughing, rejoicing.
- Dahikatun mustabshiratun (Ⅰ)
- Laughing, rejoicing. (Ⅱ)
- Laughing, rejoicing at good news; (Ⅲ)
- laughing, joyous; (Ⅳ)
- ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ (Ⅴ)
80. 40  
And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,
- Wawujoohun yawmaithin AAalayha ghabaratun (Ⅰ)
- And many faces on that Day, shall be covered with dust, (Ⅱ)
- And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, (Ⅲ)
- some faces on that day shall be dusty (Ⅳ)
- وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ (Ⅴ)
80. 41  
Blackness will cover them:
- Tarhaquha qataratun (Ⅰ)
- Veiled in darkness. (Ⅱ)
- Veiled in darkness, (Ⅲ)
- o´erspread with darkness -- (Ⅳ)
- تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ (Ⅴ)
80. 42  
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
- Olaika humu alkafaratu alfajaratu (Ⅰ)
- These are the disbelievers, the wicked. (Ⅱ)
- Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. (Ⅲ)
- those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. (Ⅳ)
- أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْكَفَرَةُ الْفَجَرَةُ (Ⅴ)
