Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅰ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

La oqsimu bihatha albaladi
- I swear (or call to witness) this City (Mecca), (Ⅰ) - Nay, I swear by this city - (Ⅱ) - No! I swear by this land, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ (Ⅳ) - I do call to witness this City;- (Ⅵ)

Waanta hillun bihatha albaladi
- And you (Muhammad) are a dweller of this City! (Ⅰ) - And thou art an indweller of this city - (Ⅱ) - and thou art a lodger in this land; (Ⅲ) - وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ (Ⅳ) - And thou art a freeman of this City;- (Ⅵ)

Wawalidin wama walada
- And the (mystic ties) of Parent and Child! (Ⅰ) - And the begetter and that which he begat, (Ⅱ) - by the begetter, and that he begot, (Ⅲ) - وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ (Ⅳ) - And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- (Ⅵ)

Laqad khalaqna alinsana fee kabadin
- We have surely created man in suffering (struggle, trouble, sorrow). (Ⅰ) - We verily have created man in an atmosphere: (Ⅱ) - indeed, We created man in trouble. (Ⅲ) - لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ (Ⅳ) - Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. (Ⅵ)

Ayahsabu an lan yaqdira AAalayhi ahadun
- Does he think that none has power over him? (Ⅰ) - Thinketh he that none hath power over him ? (Ⅱ) - What, does he think none has power over him, (Ⅲ) - أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ (Ⅳ) - Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? (Ⅵ)

Yaqoolu ahlaktu malan lubadan
- He says, "I have squandered wealth in plenty;" (Ⅰ) - And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: (Ⅱ) - saying, ´I have consumed wealth abundant´? (Ⅲ) - يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا (Ⅳ) - He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! (Ⅵ)

Ayahsabu an lam yarahu ahadun
- Does he think that no one sees him? (Ⅰ) - Thinketh he that none beholdeth him ? (Ⅱ) - What, does he think none has seen him? (Ⅲ) - أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ (Ⅳ) - Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? (Ⅵ)

Alam najAAal lahu AAaynayni
- Have We not made for him two eyes (Ⅰ) - Did We not assign unto him two eyes (Ⅱ) - Have We not appointed to him two eyes, (Ⅲ) - أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ (Ⅳ) - Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- (Ⅵ)

Walisanan washafatayni
- And a tongue, and two lips? (Ⅰ) - And a tongue and two lips, (Ⅱ) - and a tongue, and two lips, (Ⅲ) - وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ (Ⅳ) - And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- (Ⅵ)

Wahadaynahu alnnajdayni
- And guided him in the two highways? (Ⅰ) - And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways ? (Ⅱ) - and guided him on the two highways? (Ⅲ) - وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ (Ⅳ) - And shown him the two highways? (Ⅵ)

Fala iqtahama alAAaqabata
- But he has not attempted the ascent! (Ⅰ) - But he hath not attempted the Ascent - (Ⅱ) - Yet he has not assaulted the steep; (Ⅲ) - فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ (Ⅳ) - But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. (Ⅵ)

Wama adraka ma alAAaqabatu
- And what will explain to you the ascent? (Ⅰ) - Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - (Ⅱ) - and what shall teach thee what is the steep? (Ⅲ) - وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ (Ⅳ) - And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- (Ⅵ)

Fakku raqabatin
- It is freeing captives (or prisoners, slaves, the restricted or bound), (Ⅰ) - (It is) to free a slave, (Ⅱ) - The freeing of a slave, (Ⅲ) - فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ (Ⅳ) - (It is:) freeing the bondman; (Ⅵ)

Aw itAAamun fee yawmin thee masghabatin
- Or feeding on the day of privation, (Ⅰ) - And to feed in the day of hunger. (Ⅱ) - or giving food upon a day of hunger (Ⅲ) - أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ (Ⅳ) - Or the giving of food in a day of privation (Ⅵ)

Yateeman tha maqrabatin
- An orphan who is a kin, (Ⅰ) - An orphan near of kin, (Ⅱ) - to an orphan near of kin (Ⅲ) - يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ (Ⅳ) - To the orphan with claims of relationship, (Ⅵ)

Aw miskeenan tha matrabatin
- Or a destitute lying in the dust (of misery); (Ⅰ) - Or some poor wretch in misery, (Ⅱ) - or a needy man in misery; (Ⅲ) - أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ (Ⅳ) - Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. (Ⅵ)

Thumma kana mina allatheena amanoo watawasaw bialssabri watawasaw bialmarhamati
- And again (it is) to be of those who believe and encourage each other to patience, and encourage each other to mercy, (Ⅰ) - And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. (Ⅱ) - then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ (Ⅳ) - Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. (Ⅵ)

Olaika ashabu almaymanati
- These are the fellows of the right! (Ⅰ) - Their place will be on the right hand. (Ⅱ) - Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. (Ⅲ) - أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ (Ⅳ) - Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. (Ⅵ)

Waallatheena kafaroo biayatina hum ashabu almashamati
- But those who disbelieve in our signs, they are the fellows of the left, (Ⅰ) - But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. (Ⅱ) - And those who disbelieve in Our signs, they are the Companions of the Left Hand; (Ⅲ) - وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ (Ⅳ) - But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. (Ⅵ)

AAalayhim narun musadatun
- For them is the enclosing Fire! (Ⅰ) - Fire will be an awning over them. (Ⅱ) - over them is a Fire covered down. (Ⅲ) - عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ (Ⅳ) - On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). (Ⅵ)
