Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
- Israël était une vigne féconde, Qui rendait beaucoup de fruits. Plus ses fruits étaient abondants, Plus il a multiplié les autels; Plus son pays était prospère, Plus il a embelli les statues. (Ⅱ) - ἄμπελος εὐκληματου̃σα Ισραηλ ὁ καρπὸς αὐτη̃ς εὐθηνω̃ν κατὰ τὸ πλη̃θος τω̃ν καρπω̃ν αὐτου̃ ἐπλήθυνεν τὰ θυσιαστήρια κατὰ τὰ ἀγαθὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς αὐτου̃ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν στήλας (Ⅲ) - Vitis frondosa Israël,/ fructus adæquatus est ei :/ secundum multitudinem fructus sui multiplicavit altaria,/ juxta ubertatem terræ suæ exuberavit simulacris./ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃10 גפן בוקק ישראל פרי ישוה לו כרב לפריו הרבה למזבחות כטוב לארצו היטיבו מצבות (Ⅴ)

Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
- Leur coeur est partagé: ils vont en porter la peine. L'Éternel renversera leurs autels, détruira leurs statues. (Ⅱ) - ἐμέρισαν καρδίας αὐτω̃ν νυ̃ν ἀφανισθήσονται αὐτὸς κατασκάψει τὰ θυσιαστήρια αὐτω̃ν ταλαιπωρήσουσιν αἱ στη̃λαι αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Divisum est cor eorum, nunc interibunt ;/ ipse confringet simulacra eorum,/ depopulabitur aras eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃10 חלק לבם עתה יאשמו הוא יערף מזבחותם ישדד מצבותם (Ⅴ)

For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
- Et bientôt ils diront: Nous n'avons point de roi, Car nous n'avons pas craint l'Éternel; Et le roi, que pourrait-il faire pour nous? (Ⅱ) - διότι νυ̃ν ἐρου̃σιν οὐκ ἔστιν βασιλεὺς ἡμι̃ν ὅτι οὐκ ἐφοβήθημεν τὸν κύριον ὁ δὲ βασιλεὺς τί ποιήσει ἡμι̃ν (Ⅲ) - Quia nunc dicent : Non est rex nobis,/ non enim timemus Dominum ;/ et rex quid faciet nobis ?/ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃10 כי עתה יאמרו אין מלך לנו כי לא יראנו את יהוה[Q][v] והמלך מה יעשה לנו (Ⅴ)

They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
- Ils prononcent des paroles vaines, des serments faux, Lorsqu'ils concluent une alliance: Aussi le châtiment germera, comme une plante vénéneuse Dans les sillons des champs. (Ⅱ) - λαλω̃ν ῥήματα προφάσεις ψευδει̃ς διαθήσεται διαθήκην ἀνατελει̃ ὡς ἄγρωστις κρίμα ἐπὶ χέρσον ἀγρου̃ (Ⅲ) - Loquimini verba visionis inutilis, et ferietis fœdus ;/ et germinabit quasi amaritudo judicium super sulcos agri./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃10 דברו דברים אלות שוא כרת ברית ופרח כראש משפט על תלמי שדי (Ⅴ)

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
- Les habitants de Samarie seront consternés au sujet des veaux de Beth Aven; Le peuple mènera deuil sur l'idole, Et ses prêtres trembleront pour elle, Pour sa gloire, qui va disparaître du milieu d'eux. (Ⅱ) - τω̨̃ μόσχω̨ του̃ οἴκου Ων παροικήσουσιν οἱ κατοικου̃ντες Σαμάρειαν ὅτι ἐπένθησεν ὁ λαὸς αὐτου̃ ἐπ' αὐτόν καὶ καθὼς παρεπίκραναν αὐτόν ἐπιχαρου̃νται ἐπὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτου̃ ὅτι μετω̨κίσθη ἀπ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Vaccas Bethaven coluerunt habitatores Samariæ ;/ quia luxit super eum populus ejus,/ et æditui ejus super eum exsultaverunt/ in gloria ejus, quia migravit ab eo./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃10 לעגלות בית און יגורו שכן שמרון כי אבל עליו עמו וכמריו עליו יגילו על כבודו כי גלה ממנו (Ⅴ)

It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
- Elle sera transportée en Assyrie, Pour servir de présent au roi Jareb. La confusion saisira Éphraïm, Et Israël aura honte de ses desseins. (Ⅱ) - καὶ αὐτὸν εἰς 'Ασσυρίους δήσαντες ἀπήνεγκαν ξένια τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Ιαριμ ἐν δόματι Εφραιμ δέξεται καὶ αἰσχυνθήσεται Ισραηλ ἐν τη̨̃ βουλη̨̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Siquidem et ipse in Assur delatus est,/ munus regi ultori./ Confusio Ephraim capiet,/ et confundetur Israël in voluntate sua./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃10 גם אותו לאשור יובל מנחה למלך ירב בשנה אפרים יקח ויבוש ישראל מעצתו (Ⅴ)

As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.
- C'est en fait de Samarie, de son roi, Comme de l'écume à la surface des eaux. (Ⅱ) - ἀπέρριψεν Σαμάρεια βασιλέα αὐτη̃ς ὡς φρύγανον ἐπὶ προσώπου ὕδατος (Ⅲ) - Transire fecit Samaria regem suum/ quasi spumam super faciem aquæ./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃10 נדמה שמרון מלכה כקצף על פני מים (Ⅴ)

The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
- Les hauts lieux de Beth Aven, où Israël a péché, seront détruits; L'épine et la ronce croîtront sur leurs autels. Ils diront aux montagnes: Couvrez-nous! Et aux collines: Tombez sur nous! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξαρθήσονται βωμοὶ Ων ἁμαρτήματα του̃ Ισραηλ ἄκανθαι καὶ τρίβολοι ἀναβήσονται ἐπὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐρου̃σιν τοι̃ς ὄρεσιν καλύψατε ἡμα̃ς καὶ τοι̃ς βουνοι̃ς πέσατε ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς (Ⅲ) - Et disperdentur excelsa idoli, peccatum Israël ;/ lappa et tribulus ascendet super aras eorum :/ et dicent montibus : Operite nos,/ et collibus : Cadite super nos./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃10 ונשמדו במות און חטאת ישראל קוץ ודרדר יעלה על מזבחותם ואמרו להרים כסונו ולגבעות נפלו עלינו ס (Ⅴ)

O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
- Depuis les jours de Guibea tu as péché, Israël! Là ils restèrent debout, La guerre contre les méchants ne les atteignit pas à Guibea. (Ⅱ) - ἀφ' οὑ̃ οἱ βουνοί ἥμαρτεν Ισραηλ ἐκει̃ ἔστησαν οὐ μὴ καταλάβη̨ αὐτοὺς ἐν τω̨̃ βουνω̨̃ πόλεμος ἐπὶ τὰ τέκνα ἀδικίας (Ⅲ) - Ex diebus Gabaa peccavit Israël ;/ ibi steterunt./ Non comprehendet eos in Gabaa/ prælium super filios iniquitatis./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃10 מימי הגבעה חטאת ישראל שם עמדו לא תשיגם בגבעה מלחמה על בני עלוה (Ⅴ)

It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
- Je les châtierai à mon gré, Et des peuples s'assembleront contre eux, Quand on les enchaînera pour leur double iniquité. (Ⅱ) - ἠ̃λθεν παιδευ̃σαι αὐτούς καὶ συναχθήσονται ἐπ' αὐτοὺς λαοὶ ἐν τω̨̃ παιδεύεσθαι αὐτοὺς ἐν ται̃ς δυσὶν ἀδικίαις αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Juxta desiderium meum corripiam eos :/ congregabuntur super eos populi,/ cum corripientur propter duas iniquitates suas./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃10 באותי ואסרם ואספו עליהם עמים באסרם לשתי *עינתם **עונתם (Ⅴ)

And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
- Éphraïm est une génisse dressée, et qui aime à fouler le grain, Mais je m'approcherai de son beau cou; J'attellerai Éphraïm, Juda labourera, Jacob hersera. (Ⅱ) - Εφραιμ δάμαλις δεδιδαγμένη ἀγαπα̃ν νει̃κος ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπελεύσομαι ἐπὶ τὸ κάλλιστον του̃ τραχήλου αὐτη̃ς ἐπιβιβω̃ Εφραιμ καὶ παρασιωπήσομαι Ιουδαν ἐνισχύσει αὐτω̨̃ Ιακωβ (Ⅲ) - Ephraim vitula docta diligere trituram,/ et ego transivi super pulchritudinem colli ejus :/ ascendam super Ephraim,/ arabit Judas ;/ confringet sibi sulcos Jacob./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃10 ואפרים עגלה מלמדה אהבתי לדוש ואני עברתי על טוב צוארה ארכיב אפרים יחרוש יהודה ישדד לו יעקב (Ⅴ)

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
- Semez selon la justice, moissonnez selon la miséricorde, Défrichez-vous un champ nouveau! Il est temps de chercher l'Éternel, Jusqu'à ce qu'il vienne, et répande pour vous la justice. (Ⅱ) - σπείρατε ἑαυτοι̃ς εἰς δικαιοσύνην τρυγήσατε εἰς καρπὸν ζωη̃ς φωτίσατε ἑαυτοι̃ς φω̃ς γνώσεως ἐκζητήσατε τὸν κύριον ἕως του̃ ἐλθει̃ν γενήματα δικαιοσύνης ὑμι̃ν (Ⅲ) - Seminate vobis in justitia,/ et metite in ore misericordiæ./ Innovate vobis novale ;/ tempus autem requirendi Dominum,/ cum venerit qui docebit vos justitiam./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃10 זרעו לכם לצדקה קצרו לפי חסד נירו לכם ניר ועת לדרוש את יהוה עד יבוא וירה צדק לכם (Ⅴ)

Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
- Vous avez cultivé le mal, moissonné l'iniquité, Mangé le fruit du mensonge; Car tu as eu confiance dans ta voie, Dans le nombre de tes vaillants hommes. (Ⅱ) - ἵνα τί παρεσιωπήσατε ἀσέβειαν καὶ τὰς ἀδικίας αὐτη̃ς ἐτρυγήσατε ἐφάγετε καρπὸν ψευδη̃ ὅτι ἤλπισας ἐν τοι̃ς ἅρμασίν σου ἐν πλήθει δυνάμεώς σου (Ⅲ) - Arastis impietatem,/ iniquitatem messuistis :/ comedistis frugem mendacii,/ quia confisus es in viis tuis,/ in multitudine fortium tuorum./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃10 חרשתם רשע עולתה קצרתם אכלתם פרי כחש כי בטחת בדרכך ברב גבוריך (Ⅴ)

Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.
- Il s'élèvera un tumulte parmi ton peuple, Et toutes tes forteresses seront détruites, Comme fut détruite Schalman Beth Arbel, Au jour de la guerre, Où la mère fut écrasée avec les enfants. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξαναστήσεται ἀπώλεια ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ σου καὶ πάντα τὰ περιτετειχισμένα σου οἰχήσεται ὡς ἄρχων Σαλαμαν ἐκ του̃ οἴκου Ιεροβααλ ἐν ἡμέραις πολέμου μητέρα ἐπὶ τέκνοις ἠδάφισαν (Ⅲ) - Consurget tumultus in populo tuo ;/ et omnes munitiones tuæ vastabuntur,/ sicut vastatus est Salmana a domo ejus qui judicavit Baal/ in die prælii, matre super filios allisa./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃10 וקאם שאון בעמך וכל מבצריך יושד כשד שלמן בית ארבאל ביום מלחמה אם על בנים רטשה (Ⅴ)

So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
- Voilà ce que vous attirera Béthel, A cause de votre extrême méchanceté, Vienne l'aurore, et c'en est fait du roi d'Israël. (Ⅱ) - οὕτως ποιήσω ὑμι̃ν οἰ̃κος του̃ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ προσώπου κακιω̃ν ὑμω̃ν ὄρθρου ἀπερρίφησαν ἀπερρίφη βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Sic fecit vobis Bethel,/ a facie malitiæ nequitiarum vestrarum.] (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃10 ככה עשה לכם בית אל מפני רעת רעתכם בשחר נדמה נדמה מלך ישראל (Ⅴ)
