12. 1

And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.

- Roboam se rendit à Sichem, car tout Israël était venu à Sichem pour le faire roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πορεύεται βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ εἰς Σικιμα ὅτι εἰς Σικιμα ἤρχοντο πα̃ς Ισραηλ βασιλευ̃σαι αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Venit autem Roboam in Sichem : illuc enim congregatus erat omnis Israël ad constituendum eum regem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃12 וילך רחבעם שכם כי שכם בא כל ישראל להמליך אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 2

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)

- Lorsque Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, eut des nouvelles, il était encore en Égypte, où il s'était enfui loin du roi Salomon, et c'était en Égypte qu'il demeurait. (Ⅱ)

- At vero Jeroboam filius Nabat, cum adhuc esset in Ægypto profugus a facie regis Salomonis, audita morte ejus, reversus est de Ægypto. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃12 ויהי כשמע ירבעם בן נבט והוא עודנו במצרים אשר ברח מפני המלך שלמה וישב ירבעם במצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 3

That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

- On l'envoya appeler. Alors Jéroboam et toute l'assemblée d'Israël vinrent à Roboam et lui parlèrent ainsi: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ροβοαμ λέγοντες (Ⅲ)

- Miseruntque et vocaverunt eum : venit ergo Jeroboam, et omnis multitudo Israël, et locuti sunt ad Roboam, dicentes : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃12 וישלחו ויקראו לו *ויבאו **ויבא ירבעם וכל קהל ישראל וידברו אל רחבעם לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 4

Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

- Ton père a rendu notre joug dur; toi maintenant, allège cette rude servitude et le joug pesant que nous a imposé ton père. Et nous te servirons. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ πατήρ σου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν κλοιὸν ἡμω̃ν καὶ σὺ νυ̃ν κούφισον ἀπὸ τη̃ς δουλείας του̃ πατρός σου τη̃ς σκληρα̃ς καὶ ἀπὸ του̃ κλοιου̃ αὐτου̃ του̃ βαρέος οὑ̃ ἔδωκεν ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς καὶ δουλεύσομέν σοι (Ⅲ)

- Pater tuus durissimum jugum imposuit nobis : tu itaque nunc imminue paululum de imperio patris tui durissimo, et de jugo gravissimo quod imposuit nobis, et serviemus tibi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃12 אביך הקשה את עלנו ואתה עתה הקל מעבדת אביך הקשה ומעלו הכבד אשר נתן עלינו ונעבדך ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 5

And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.

- Il leur dit: Allez, et revenez vers moi dans trois jours. Et le peuple s'en alla. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτούς ἀπέλθετε ἕως ἡμερω̃ν τριω̃ν καὶ ἀναστρέψατε πρός με καὶ ἀπη̃λθον (Ⅲ)

- Qui ait eis : Ite usque ad tertium diem, et revertimini ad me. Cumque abiisset populus, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃12 ויאמר אליהם לכו עד שלשה ימים ושובו אלי וילכו העם ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 6

And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?

- Le roi Roboam consulta les vieillards qui avaient été auprès de Salomon, son père, pendant sa vie, et il dit: Que conseillez-vous de répondre à ce peuple? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρήγγειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοι̃ς πρεσβυτέροις οἳ ἠ̃σαν παρεστω̃τες ἐνώπιον Σαλωμων του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἔτι ζω̃ντος αὐτου̃ λέγων πω̃ς ὑμει̃ς βουλεύεσθε καὶ ἀποκριθω̃ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ λόγον (Ⅲ)

- iniit consilium rex Roboam cum senioribus qui assistebant coram Salomone patre ejus cum adhuc viveret, et ait : Quod datis mihi consilium, ut respondeam populo huic ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃12 ויועץ המלך רחבעם את הזקנים אשר היו עמדים את פני שלמה אביו בהיתו חי לאמר איך אתם נועצים להשיב את העם הזה דבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 7

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

- Et voici ce qu'ils lui dirent: Si aujourd'hui tu rends service à ce peuple, si tu leur cèdes, et si tu leur réponds par des paroles bienveillantes, ils seront pour toujours tes serviteurs. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγοντες εἰ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ταύτη̨ ἔση̨ δου̃λος τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ καὶ δουλεύση̨ς αὐτοι̃ς καὶ λαλήση̨ς αὐτοι̃ς λόγους ἀγαθούς καὶ ἔσονταί σοι δου̃λοι πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (Ⅲ)

- Qui dixerunt ei : Si hodie obedieris populo huic, et servieris, et petitioni eorum cesseris, locutusque fueris ad eos verba lenia, erunt tibi servi cunctis diebus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃12 *וידבר **וידברו‪[c]‬ אליו לאמר אם היום תהיה עבד לעם הזה ועבדתם ועניתם ודברת אליהם דברים טובים והיו לך עבדים כל הימים ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 8

But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

- Mais Roboam laissa le conseil que lui donnaient les vieillards, et il consulta les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui et qui l'entouraient. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγκατέλιπεν τὴν βουλὴν τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων ἃ συνεβουλεύσαντο αὐτω̨̃ καὶ συνεβουλεύσατο μετὰ τω̃ν παιδαρίων τω̃ν ἐκτραφέντων μετ' αὐτου̃ τω̃ν παρεστηκότων πρὸ προσώπου αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Qui dereliquit consilium senum, quod dederant ei, et adhibuit adolescentes, qui nutriti fuerant cum eo, et assistebant illi, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃12 ויעזב את עצת הזקנים אשר יעצהו ויועץ את הילדים אשר גדלו אתו אשר העמדים לפניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 9

And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?

- Il leur dit: Que conseillez-vous de répondre à ce peuple qui me tient ce langage: Allège le joug que nous a imposé ton père? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς τί ὑμει̃ς συμβουλεύετε καὶ τί ἀποκριθω̃ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ τοι̃ς λαλήσασιν πρός με λεγόντων κούφισον ἀπὸ του̃ κλοιου̃ οὑ̃ ἔδωκεν ὁ πατήρ σου ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς (Ⅲ)

- dixitque ad eos : Quod mihi datis consilium, ut respondeam populo huic, qui dixerunt mihi : Levius fac jugum quod imposuit pater tuus super nos ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃12 ויאמר אליהם מה אתם נועצים ונשיב דבר את העם הזה אשר דברו אלי לאמר הקל מן העל אשר נתן אביך עלינו ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 10

And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.

- Et voici ce que lui dirent les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui: Tu parleras ainsi à ce peuple qui t'a tenu ce langage: Ton père a rendu notre joug pesant, et toi, allège-le-nous! tu leur parleras ainsi: Mon petit doigt est plus gros que les reins de mon père. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς αὐτὸν τὰ παιδάρια τὰ ἐκτραφέντα μετ' αὐτου̃ οἱ παρεστηκότες πρὸ προσώπου αὐτου̃ λέγοντες τάδε λαλήσεις τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ τοι̃ς λαλήσασι πρὸς σὲ λέγοντες ὁ πατήρ σου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν κλοιὸν ἡμω̃ν καὶ σὺ νυ̃ν κούφισον ἀφ' ἡμω̃ν τάδε λαλήσεις πρὸς αὐτούς ἡ μικρότης μου παχυτέρα τη̃ς ὀσφύος του̃ πατρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Et dixerunt ei juvenes qui nutriti fuerant cum eo : Sic loqueris populo huic, qui locuti sunt ad te, dicentes : Pater tuus aggravavit jugum nostrum : tu releva nos. Sic loqueris ad eos : Minimus digitus meus grossior est dorso patris mei. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃12 וידברו אליו הילדים אשר גדלו אתו לאמר כה תאמר לעם הזה אשר דברו אליך לאמר אביך הכביד את עלנו ואתה הקל מעלינו כה תדבר אליהם קטני עבה ממתני אבי ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 11

And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

- Maintenant, mon père vous a chargés d'un joug pesant, et moi je vous le rendrai plus pesant; mon père vous a châtiés avec des fouets, et moi je vous châtierai avec des scorpions. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπεσάσσετο ὑμα̃ς κλοιω̨̃ βαρει̃ κἀγὼ προσθήσω ἐπὶ τὸν κλοιὸν ὑμω̃ν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμα̃ς ἐν μάστιγξιν ἐγὼ δὲ παιδεύσω ὑμα̃ς ἐν σκορπίοις (Ⅲ)

- Et nunc pater meus posuit super vos jugum grave, ego autem addam super jugum vestrum : pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego autem cædam vos scorpionibus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃12 ועתה אבי העמיס עליכם על כבד ואני אוסיף על עלכם אבי יסר אתכם בשוטים ואני איסר אתכם בעקרבים ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 12

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.

- Jéroboam et tout le peuple vinrent à Roboam le troisième jour, suivant ce qu'avait dit le roi: Revenez vers moi dans trois jours. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρεγένοντο πα̃ς Ισραηλ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ροβοαμ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ τρίτη̨ καθότι ἐλάλησεν αὐτοι̃ς ὁ βασιλεὺς λέγων ἀναστράφητε πρός με τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ τρίτη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Venit ergo Jeroboam et omnis populus ad Roboam die tertia, sicut locutus fuerat rex, dicens : Revertimini ad me die tertia. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃12 *ויבו **ויבוא ירבעם וכל העם אל רחבעם ביום השלישי כאשר דבר המלך לאמר שובו אלי ביום השלישי ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 13

And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;

- Le roi répondit durement au peuple. Il laissa le conseil que lui avaient donné les vieillards, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν σκληρά καὶ ἐγκατέλιπεν Ροβοαμ τὴν βουλὴν τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων ἃ συνεβουλεύσαντο αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Responditque rex populo dura, derelicto consilio seniorum quod ei dederant, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃12 ויען המלך את העם קשה ויעזב את עצת הזקנים אשר יעצהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 14

And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

- et il leur parla ainsi d'après le conseil des jeunes gens: Mon père a rendu votre joug pesant, et moi je vous le rendrai plus pesant; mon père vous a châtiés avec des fouets, et moi je vous châtierai avec des scorpions. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τω̃ν παιδαρίων λέγων ὁ πατήρ μου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν κλοιὸν ὑμω̃ν κἀγὼ προσθήσω ἐπὶ τὸν κλοιὸν ὑμω̃ν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμα̃ς ἐν μάστιγξιν κἀγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμα̃ς ἐν σκορπίοις (Ⅲ)

- et locutus est eis secundum consilium juvenum, dicens : Pater meus aggravavit jugum vestrum, ego autem addam jugo vestro : pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego autem cædam vos scorpionibus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃12 וידבר אליהם כעצת הילדים לאמר אבי הכביד את עלכם ואני אסיף על עלכם אבי יסר אתכם בשוטים ואני איסר אתכם בעקרבים ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 15

Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

- Ainsi le roi n'écouta point le peuple; car cela fut dirigé par l'Éternel, en vue de l'accomplissement de la parole que l'Éternel avait dite par Achija de Silo à Jéroboam, fils de Nebath. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς του̃ λαου̃ ὅτι ἠ̃ν μεταστροφὴ παρὰ κυρίου ὅπως στήση̨ τὸ ῥη̃μα αὐτου̃ ὃ ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Αχια του̃ Σηλωνίτου περὶ Ιεροβοαμ υἱου̃ Ναβατ (Ⅲ)

- Et non acquievit rex populo : quoniam aversatus fuerat eum Dominus, ut suscitaret verbum suum quod locutus fuerat in manu Ahiæ Silonitæ, ad Jeroboam filium Nabat.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃12 ולא שמע המלך אל העם כי היתה סבה מעם יהוה למען הקים את דברו אשר דבר יהוה ביד אחיה השילני אל ירבעם בן נבט ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 16

So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

- Lorsque tout Israël vit que le roi ne l'écoutait pas, le peuple répondit au roi: Quelle part avons-nous avec David? Nous n'avons point d'héritage avec le fils d'Isaï! A tes tentes, Israël! Maintenant, pourvois à ta maison, David! Et Israël s'en alla dans ses tentes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δον πα̃ς Ισραηλ ὅτι οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ λαὸς τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ λέγων τίς ἡμι̃ν μερὶς ἐν Δαυιδ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμι̃ν κληρονομία ἐν υἱω̨̃ Ιεσσαι ἀπότρεχε Ισραηλ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματά σου νυ̃ν βόσκε τὸν οἰ̃κόν σου Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν Ισραηλ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Videns itaque populus quod noluisset eos audire rex, respondit ei dicens : Quæ nobis pars in David ? vel quæ hæreditas in filio Isai ? vade in tabernacula tua, Israël : nunc vide domum tuam, David. Et abiit Israël in tabernacula sua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃12 וירא כל ישראל כי לא שמע המלך אליהם וישבו העם את המלך דבר לאמר מה לנו חלק בדוד ולא נחלה בבן ישי לאהליך ישראל עתה ראה ביתך דוד וילך ישראל לאהליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 17

But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

- Les enfants d'Israël qui habitaient les villes de Juda furent les seuls sur qui régna Roboam. (Ⅱ)

- Super filios autem Israël, quicumque habitabant in civitatibus Juda, regnavit Roboam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃12 ובני ישראל הישבים בערי יהודה וימלך עליהם רחבעם פ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 18

Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

- Alors le roi Roboam envoya Adoram, qui était préposé aux impôts. Mais Adoram fut lapidé par tout Israël, et il mourut. Et le roi Roboam se hâta de monter sur un char, pour s'enfuir à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν Αδωνιραμ τὸν ἐπὶ του̃ φόρου καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν πα̃ς Ισραηλ ἐν λίθοις καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ ἔφθασεν ἀναβη̃ναι του̃ φυγει̃ν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Misit ergo rex Roboam Aduram, qui erat super tributa : et lapidavit eum omnis Israël, et mortuus est. Porro rex Roboam festinus ascendit currum, et fugit in Jerusalem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃12 וישלח המלך רחבעם את אדרם אשר על המס וירגמו כל ישראל בו אבן וימת והמלך רחבעם התאמץ לעלות במרכבה לנוס ירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 19

So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

- C'est ainsi qu'Israël s'est détaché de la maison de David jusqu'à ce jour. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠθέτησεν Ισραηλ εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον Δαυιδ ἕως τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης (Ⅲ)

- recessitque Israël a domo David usque in præsentem diem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃12 ויפשעו ישראל בבית דוד עד היום הזה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 20

And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

- Tout Israël ayant appris que Jéroboam était de retour, ils l'envoyèrent appeler dans l'assemblée, et ils le firent roi sur tout Israël. La tribu de Juda fut la seule qui suivit la maison de David. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν πα̃ς Ισραηλ ὅτι ἀνέκαμψεν Ιεροβοαμ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἀπέστειλαν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν καὶ ἐβασίλευσαν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὀπίσω οἴκου Δαυιδ πάρεξ σκήπτρου Ιουδα καὶ Βενιαμιν μόνοι (Ⅲ)

- Factum est autem cum audisset omnis Israël quod reversus esset Jeroboam, miserunt, et vocaverunt eum congregato cœtu, et constituerunt eum regem super omnem Israël : nec secutus est quisquam domum David præter tribum Juda solam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃12 ויהי כשמע כל ישראל כי שב ירבעם וישלחו ויקראו אתו אל העדה וימליכו אתו על כל ישראל לא היה אחרי בית דוד זולתי שבט יהודה לבדו ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 21

And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

- Roboam, arrivé à Jérusalem, rassembla toute la maison de Juda et la tribu de Benjamin, cent quatre-vingt mille hommes d'élite propres à la guerre, pour qu'ils combattissent contre la maison d'Israël afin de la ramener sous la domination de Roboam, fils de Salomon. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Ροβοαμ εἰση̃λθεν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐξεκκλησίασεν τὴν συναγωγὴν Ιουδα καὶ σκη̃πτρον Βενιαμιν ἑκατὸν καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες νεανιω̃ν ποιούντων πόλεμον του̃ πολεμει̃ν πρὸς οἰ̃κον Ισραηλ ἐπιστρέψαι τὴν βασιλείαν Ροβοαμ υἱω̨̃ Σαλωμων (Ⅲ)

- Venit autem Roboam Jerusalem, et congregavit universam domum Juda, et tribum Benjamin, centum octoginta millia electorum virorum bellatorum, ut pugnarent contra domum Israël, et reducerent regnum Roboam filio Salomonis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃12 *ויבאו **ויבא רחבעם ירושלם ויקהל את כל בית יהודה ואת שבט בנימן מאה ושמנים אלף בחור עשה מלחמה להלחם עם בית ישראל להשיב את המלוכה לרחבעם בן שלמה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 22

But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

- Mais la parole de Dieu fut ainsi adressée à Schemaeja, homme de Dieu: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Σαμαιαν ἄνθρωπον του̃ θεου̃ λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Factus est autem sermo Domini ad Semeiam virum Dei, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃12 ויהי דבר האלהים אל שמעיה איש האלהים לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 23

Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

- Parle à Roboam, fils de Salomon, roi de Juda, et à toute la maison de Juda et de Benjamin, et au reste du peuple. (Ⅱ)

- εἰπὸν τω̨̃ Ροβοαμ υἱω̨̃ Σαλωμων βασιλει̃ Ιουδα καὶ πρὸς πάντα οἰ̃κον Ιουδα καὶ Βενιαμιν καὶ τω̨̃ καταλοίπω̨ του̃ λαου̃ λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Loquere ad Roboam filium Salomonis regem Juda, et ad omnem domum Juda, et Benjamin, et reliquos de populo, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃12 אמר אל רחבעם בן שלמה מלך יהודה ואל כל בית יהודה ובנימין ויתר העם לאמר‪[c]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 24

Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

- Et dis-leur: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Ne montez point, et ne faites pas la guerre à vos frères, les enfants d'Israël! Que chacun de vous retourne dans sa maison, car c'est de par moi que cette chose est arrivée. Ils obéirent à la parole de l'Éternel, et ils s'en retournèrent, selon la parole de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐκ ἀναβήσεσθε οὐδὲ πολεμήσετε μετὰ τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν ὑμω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ ἀναστρεφέτω ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον ἑαυτου̃ ὅτι παρ' ἐμου̃ γέγονεν τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το καὶ ἤκουσαν του̃ λόγου κυρίου καὶ κατέπαυσαν του̃ πορευθη̃ναι κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μα κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Hæc dicit Dominus : Non ascendetis, neque bellabitis contra fratres vestros filios Israël : revertatur vir in domum suam : a me enim factum est verbum hoc. Audierunt sermonem Domini, et reversi sunt de itinere, sicut eis præceperat Dominus.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃12 כה אמר יהוה לא תעלו ולא תלחמון עם אחיכם בני ישראל שובו איש לביתו כי מאתי נהיה הדבר הזה וישמעו את דבר יהוה וישבו ללכת כדבר יהוה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 25

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

- Jéroboam bâtit Sichem sur la montagne d'Éphraïm, et il y demeura; puis il en sortit, et bâtit Penuel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν Ιεροβοαμ τὴν Σικιμα τὴν ἐν ὄρει Εφραιμ καὶ κατώ̨κει ἐν αὐτη̨̃ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν ἐκει̃θεν καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν τὴν Φανουηλ (Ⅲ)

- Ædificavit autem Jeroboam Sichem in monte Ephraim, et habitavit ibi : et egressus inde ædificavit Phanuel. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃12 ויבן ירבעם את שכם בהר אפרים וישב בה ויצא משם ויבן את פנואל ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 26

And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:

- Jéroboam dit en son coeur: Le royaume pourrait bien maintenant retourner à la maison de David. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιεροβοαμ ἐν τη̨̃ καρδία̨ αὐτου̃ ἰδοὺ νυ̃ν ἐπιστρέψει ἡ βασιλεία εἰς οἰ̃κον Δαυιδ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Jeroboam in corde suo : Nunc revertetur regnum ad domum David, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃12 ויאמר ירבעם בלבו עתה תשוב הממלכה לבית דוד ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 27

If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

- Si ce peuple monte à Jérusalem pour faire des sacrifices dans la maison de l'Éternel, le coeur de ce peuple retournera à son seigneur, à Roboam, roi de Juda, et ils me tueront et retourneront à Roboam, roi de Juda. (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν ἀναβη̨̃ ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος ἀναφέρειν θυσίας ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐπιστραφήσεται καρδία του̃ λαου̃ πρὸς κύριον καὶ κύριον αὐτω̃ν πρὸς Ροβοαμ βασιλέα Ιουδα καὶ ἀποκτενου̃σίν με (Ⅲ)

- si ascenderit populus iste ut faciat sacrificia in domo Domini in Jerusalem : et convertetur cor populi hujus ad dominum suum Roboam regem Juda, interficientque me, et revertentur ad eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃12 אם יעלה העם הזה לעשות זבחים בבית יהוה בירושלם ושב לב העם הזה אל אדניהם אל רחבעם מלך יהודה והרגני ושבו אל רחבעם מלך יהודה ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 28

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

- Après s'être consulté, le roi fit deux veaux d'or, et il dit au peuple: Assez longtemps vous êtes montés à Jérusalem; Israël! voici ton Dieu, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἐποίησεν δύο δαμάλεις χρυσα̃ς καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς τὸν λαόν ἱκανούσθω ὑμι̃ν ἀναβαίνειν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ἰδοὺ θεοί σου Ισραηλ οἱ ἀναγαγόντες σε ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου (Ⅲ)

- Et excogitato consilio fecit duos vitulos aureos, et dixit eis : Nolite ultra ascendere in Jerusalem : ecce dii tui Israël, qui te eduxerunt de terra Ægypti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃12 ויועץ המלך ויעש שני עגלי זהב ויאמר אלהם רב לכם מעלות ירושלם הנה אלהיך ישראל אשר העלוך מארץ מצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 29

And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.

- Il plaça l'un de ces veaux à Béthel, et il mit l'autre à Dan. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔθετο τὴν μίαν ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ τὴν μίαν ἔδωκεν ἐν Δαν (Ⅲ)

- Posuitque unum in Bethel, et alterum in Dan : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃12 וישם את האחד בבית אל ואת האחד נתן בדן ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 30

And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

- Ce fut là une occasion de péché. Le peuple alla devant l'un des veaux jusqu'à Dan. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ λόγος οὑ̃τος εἰς ἁμαρτίαν καὶ ἐπορεύετο ὁ λαὸς πρὸ προσώπου τη̃ς μια̃ς ἕως Δαν (Ⅲ)

- et factum est verbum hoc in peccatum : ibat enim populus ad adorandum vitulum usque in Dan. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃12 ויהי הדבר הזה לחטאת וילכו העם לפני האחד עד דן ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 31

And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

- Jéroboam fit une maison de hauts lieux, et il créa des sacrificateurs pris parmi tout le peuple et n'appartenant point aux fils de Lévi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησεν οἴκους ἐφ' ὑψηλω̃ν καὶ ἐποίησεν ἱερει̃ς μέρος τι ἐκ του̃ λαου̃ οἳ οὐκ ἠ̃σαν ἐκ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Λευι (Ⅲ)

- Et fecit fana in excelsis, et sacerdotes de extremis populi, qui non erant de filiis Levi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃12 ויעש את בית במות ויעש כהנים מקצות העם אשר לא היו מבני לוי ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 32

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

- Il établit une fête au huitième mois, le quinzième jour du mois, comme la fête qui se célébrait en Juda, et il offrit des sacrifices sur l'autel. Voici ce qu'il fit à Béthel afin que l'on sacrifiât aux veaux qu'il avait faits. Il plaça à Béthel les prêtres des hauts lieux qu'il avait élevés. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησεν Ιεροβοαμ ἑορτὴν ἐν τω̨̃ μηνὶ τω̨̃ ὀγδόω̨ ἐν τη̨̃ πεντεκαιδεκάτη̨ ἡμέρα̨ του̃ μηνὸς κατὰ τὴν ἑορτὴν τὴν ἐν γη̨̃ Ιουδα καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ὃ ἐποίησεν ἐν Βαιθηλ του̃ θύειν ται̃ς δαμάλεσιν αἱ̃ς ἐποίησεν καὶ παρέστησεν ἐν Βαιθηλ τοὺς ἱερει̃ς τω̃ν ὑψηλω̃ν ὡ̃ν ἐποίησεν (Ⅲ)

- Constituitque diem solemnem in mense octavo, quintadecima die mensis, in similitudinem solemnitatis quæ celebrabatur in Juda. Et ascendens altare, similiter fecit in Bethel, ut immolaret vitulis quos fabricatus fuerat : constituitque in Bethel sacerdotes excelsorum quæ fecerat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃12 ויעש ירבעם חג בחדש השמיני בחמשה עשר יום לחדש כחג אשר ביהודה ויעל על המזבח כן עשה בבית אל לזבח לעגלים אשר עשה והעמיד בבית אל את כהני הבמות אשר עשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

12. 33

So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.

- Et il monta sur l'autel qu'il avait fait à Béthel, le quinzième jour du huitième mois, mois qu'il avait choisi de son gré. Il fit une fête pour les enfants d'Israël, et il monta sur l'autel pour brûler des parfums. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ὃ ἐποίησεν τη̨̃ πεντεκαιδεκάτη̨ ἡμέρα̨ ἐν τω̨̃ μηνὶ τω̨̃ ὀγδόω̨ ἐν τη̨̃ ἑορτη̨̃ ἡ̨̃ ἐπλάσατο ἀπὸ καρδίας αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑορτὴν τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Ισραηλ καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον του̃ ἐπιθυ̃σαι (Ⅲ)

- Et ascendit super altare quod exstruxerat in Bethel, quintadecima die mensis octavi, quem finxerat de corde suo : et fecit solemnitatem filiis Israël, et ascendit super altare, ut adoleret incensum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃12 ויעל על המזבח אשר עשה בבית אל בחמשה עשר יום בחדש השמיני בחדש אשר בדא *מלבד **מלבו ויעש חג לבני ישראל ויעל על המזבח להקטיר פ‬ (Ⅴ)
