3. 1

And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

- Salomon s'allia par mariage avec Pharaon, roi d'Égypte. Il prit pour femme la fille de Pharaon, et il l'amena dans la ville de David, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût achevé de bâtir sa maison, la maison de l'Éternel, et le mur d'enceinte de Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- Confirmatum est igitur regnum in manu Salomonis, et affinitate conjunctus est Pharaoni regi Ægypti : accepit namque filiam ejus, et adduxit in civitatem David, donec compleret ædificans domum suam, et domum Domini, et murum Jerusalem per circuitum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃3 ויתחתן שלמה את פרעה מלך מצרים ויקח את בת פרעה ויביאה אל עיר דוד עד כלתו לבנות את ביתו ואת בית יהוה ואת חומת ירושלם סביב ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 2

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

- Le peuple ne sacrifiait que sur les hauts lieux, car jusqu'à cette époque il n'avait point été bâti de maison au nom de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- πλὴν ὁ λαὸς ἠ̃σαν θυμιω̃ντες ἐπὶ τοι̃ς ὑψηλοι̃ς ὅτι οὐκ ὠ̨κοδομήθη οἰ̃κος τω̨̃ ὀνόματι κυρίου ἕως νυ̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Attamen populus immolabat in excelsis : non enim ædificatum erat templum nomini Domini usque in diem illum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃3 רק העם מזבחים בבמות כי לא נבנה בית לשם יהוה עד הימים ההם פ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 3

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

- Salomon aimait l'Éternel, et suivait les coutumes de David, son père. Seulement c'était sur les hauts lieux qu'il offrait des sacrifices et des parfums. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠγάπησεν Σαλωμων τὸν κύριον πορεύεσθαι ἐν τοι̃ς προστάγμασιν Δαυιδ του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ πλὴν ἐν τοι̃ς ὑψηλοι̃ς ἔθυεν καὶ ἐθυμία (Ⅲ)

- Dilexit autem Salomon Dominum, ambulans in præceptis David patris sui, excepto quod in excelsis immolabat, et accendebat thymiama. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃3 ויאהב שלמה את יהוה ללכת בחקות דוד אביו רק בבמות הוא מזבח ומקטיר ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 4

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

- Le roi se rendit à Gabaon pour y sacrifier, car c'était le principal des hauts lieux. Salomon offrit mille holocaustes sur l'autel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Γαβαων θυ̃σαι ἐκει̃ ὅτι αὐτὴ ὑψηλοτάτη καὶ μεγάλη χιλίαν ὁλοκαύτωσιν ἀνήνεγκεν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐν Γαβαων (Ⅲ)

- Abiit itaque in Gabaon, ut immolaret ibi : illud quippe erat excelsum maximum : mille hostias in holocaustum obtulit Salomon super altare illud in Gabaon. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃3 וילך המלך גבענה לזבח שם כי היא הבמה הגדולה אלף עלות יעלה שלמה על המזבח ההוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 5

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

- A Gabaon, l'Éternel apparut en songe à Salomon pendant la nuit, et Dieu lui dit: Demande ce que tu veux que je te donne. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὤφθη κύριος τω̨̃ Σαλωμων ἐν ὕπνω̨ τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς Σαλωμων αἴτησαί τι αἴτημα σαυτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Apparuit autem Dominus Salomoni per somnium nocte, dicens : Postula quod vis ut dem tibi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃3 בגבעון נראה יהוה אל שלמה בחלום הלילה ויאמר אלהים שאל מה אתן לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 6

And Solomon said, Thou hast showed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

- Salomon répondit: Tu as traité avec une grande bienveillance ton serviteur David, mon père, parce qu'il marchait en ta présence dans la fidélité, dans la justice, et dans la droiture de coeur envers toi; tu lui as conservé cette grande bienveillance, et tu lui as donné un fils qui est assis sur son trône, comme on le voit aujourd'hui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαλωμων σὺ ἐποίησας μετὰ του̃ δούλου σου Δαυιδ του̃ πατρός μου ἔλεος μέγα καθὼς διη̃λθεν ἐνώπιόν σου ἐν ἀληθεία̨ καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνη̨ καὶ ἐν εὐθύτητι καρδίας μετὰ σου̃ καὶ ἐφύλαξας αὐτω̨̃ τὸ ἔλεος τὸ μέγα του̃το δου̃ναι τὸν υἱὸν αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ του̃ θρόνου αὐτου̃ ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Salomon : Tu fecisti cum servo tuo David patre meo misericordiam magnam, sicut ambulavit in conspectu tuo in veritate et justitia, et recto corde tecum : custodisti ei misericordiam tuam grandem, et dedisti ei filium sedentem super thronum ejus, sicut est hodie. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃3 ויאמר שלמה אתה עשית עם עבדך דוד אבי חסד גדול כאשר הלך לפניך באמת ובצדקה ובישרת לבב עמך ותשמר לו את החסד הגדול הזה ותתן לו בן ישב על כסאו כיום הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 7

And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

- Maintenant, Éternel mon Dieu, tu as fait régner ton serviteur à la place de David, mon père; et moi je ne suis qu'un jeune homme, je n'ai point d'expérience. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν κύριε ὁ θεός μου σὺ ἔδωκας τὸν δου̃λόν σου ἀντὶ Δαυιδ του̃ πατρός μου καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι παιδάριον μικρὸν καὶ οὐκ οἰ̃δα τὴν ἔξοδόν μου καὶ τὴν εἴσοδόν μου (Ⅲ)

- Et nunc Domine Deus, tu regnare fecisti servum tuum pro David patre meo : ego autem sum puer parvulus, et ignorans egressum et introitum meum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃3 ועתה יהוה אלהי אתה המלכת את עבדך תחת דוד אבי ואנכי נער קטן לא אדע צאת ובא ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 8

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

- Ton serviteur est au milieu du peuple que tu as choisi, peuple immense, qui ne peut être ni compté ni nombré, à cause de sa multitude. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ δου̃λός σου ἐν μέσω̨ του̃ λαου̃ σου ὃν ἐξελέξω λαὸν πολύν ὃς οὐκ ἀριθμηθήσεται (Ⅲ)

- Et servus tuus in medio est populi quem elegisti, populi infiniti, qui numerari et supputari non potest præ multitudine. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃3 ועבדך בתוך עמך אשר בחרת עם רב אשר לא ימנה ולא יספר מרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 9

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

- Accorde donc à ton serviteur un coeur intelligent pour juger ton peuple, pour discerner le bien du mal! Car qui pourrait juger ton peuple, ce peuple si nombreux? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ δώσεις τω̨̃ δούλω̨ σου καρδίαν ἀκούειν καὶ διακρίνειν τὸν λαόν σου ἐν δικαιοσύνη̨ του̃ συνίειν ἀνὰ μέσον ἀγαθου̃ καὶ κακου̃ ὅτι τίς δυνήσεται κρίνειν τὸν λαόν σου τὸν βαρὺν του̃τον (Ⅲ)

- Dabis ergo servo tuo cor docile, ut populum tuum judicare possit, et discernere inter bonum et malum. Quis enim poterit judicare populum istum, populum tuum hunc multum ?\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃3 ונתת לעבדך לב שמע לשפט את עמך להבין בין טוב לרע כי מי יוכל לשפט את עמך הכבד הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 10

And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

- Cette demande de Salomon plut au Seigneur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤρεσεν ἐνώπιον κυρίου ὅτι ἠ̨τήσατο Σαλωμων τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το (Ⅲ)

- Placuit ergo sermo coram Domino, quod Salomon postulasset hujuscemodi rem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃3 וייטב הדבר בעיני אדני כי שאל שלמה את הדבר הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 11

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

- Et Dieu lui dit: Puisque c'est là ce que tu demandes, puisque tu ne demandes pour toi ni une longue vie, ni les richesses, ni la mort de tes ennemis, et que tu demandes de l'intelligence pour exercer la justice, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς αὐτόν ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ἠ̨τήσω παρ' ἐμου̃ τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το καὶ οὐκ ἠ̨τήσω σαυτω̨̃ ἡμέρας πολλὰς καὶ οὐκ ἠ̨τήσω πλου̃τον οὐδὲ ἠ̨τήσω ψυχὰς ἐχθρω̃ν σου ἀλλ' ἠ̨τήσω σαυτω̨̃ σύνεσιν του̃ εἰσακούειν κρίμα (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Dominus Salomoni : Quia postulasti verbum hoc, et non petisti tibi dies multos, nec divitias, aut animas inimicorum tuorum, sed postulasti tibi sapientiam ad discernendum judicium : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃3 ויאמר אלהים אליו יען אשר שאלת את הדבר הזה ולא שאלת לך ימים רבים ולא שאלת לך עשר ולא שאלת נפש איביך ושאלת לך הבין לשמע משפט ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 12

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

- voici, j'agirai selon ta parole. Je te donnerai un coeur sage et intelligent, de telle sorte qu'il n'y aura eu personne avant toi et qu'on ne verra jamais personne de semblable à toi. (Ⅱ)

- ἰδοὺ πεποίηκα κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μά σου ἰδοὺ δέδωκά σοι καρδίαν φρονίμην καὶ σοφήν ὡς σὺ οὐ γέγονεν ἔμπροσθέν σου καὶ μετὰ σὲ οὐκ ἀναστήσεται ὅμοιός σοι (Ⅲ)

- ecce feci tibi secundum sermones tuos, et dedi tibi cor sapiens et intelligens, in tantum ut nullus ante te similis tui fuerit, nec post te surrecturus sit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃3 הנה עשיתי כדבריך הנה נתתי לך לב חכם ונבון אשר כמוך לא היה לפניך ואחריך לא יקום כמוך ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 13

And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

- Je te donnerai, en outre, ce que tu n'as pas demandé, des richesses et de la gloire, de telle sorte qu'il n'y aura pendant toute ta vie aucun roi qui soit ton pareil. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἃ οὐκ ἠ̨τήσω δέδωκά σοι καὶ πλου̃τον καὶ δόξαν ὡς οὐ γέγονεν ἀνὴρ ὅμοιός σοι ἐν βασιλευ̃σιν (Ⅲ)

- Sed et hæc quæ non postulasti, dedi tibi : divitias scilicet, et gloriam, ut nemo fuerit similis tui in regibus cunctis retro diebus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃3 וגם אשר לא שאלת נתתי לך גם עשר גם כבוד אשר לא היה כמוך איש במלכים כל ימיך ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 14

And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

- Et si tu marches dans mes voies, en observant mes lois et mes commandements, comme l'a fait David, ton père, je prolongerai tes jours. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐὰν πορευθη̨̃ς ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ μου φυλάσσειν τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὰ προστάγματά μου ὡς ἐπορεύθη Δαυιδ ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ πληθυνω̃ τὰς ἡμέρας σου (Ⅲ)

- Si autem ambulaveris in viis meis, et custodieris præcepta mea et mandata mea, sicut ambulavit pater tuus, longos faciam dies tuos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃3 ואם תלך בדרכי לשמר חקי ומצותי כאשר הלך דויד אביך והארכתי את ימיך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 15

And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

- Salomon s'éveilla. Et voilà le songe. Salomon revint à Jérusalem, et se présenta devant l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel. Il offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, et il fit un festin à tous ses serviteurs. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξυπνίσθη Σαλωμων καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐνύπνιον καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ παραγίνεται εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἔστη κατὰ πρόσωπον του̃ θυσιαστηρίου του̃ κατὰ πρόσωπον κιβωτου̃ διαθήκης κυρίου ἐν Σιων καὶ ἀνήγαγεν ὁλοκαυτώσεις καὶ ἐποίησεν εἰρηνικὰς καὶ ἐποίησεν πότον μέγαν ἑαυτω̨̃ καὶ πα̃σιν τοι̃ς παισὶν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Igitur evigilavit Salomon, et intellexit quod esset somnium : cumque venisset Jerusalem, stetit coram arca fœderis Domini, et obtulit holocausta, et fecit victimas pacificas, et grande convivium universis famulis suis.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃3 ויקץ שלמה והנה חלום ויבוא ירושלם ויעמד לפני ארון ברית אדני ויעל עלות ויעש שלמים ויעש משתה לכל עבדיו פ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 16

Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

- Alors deux femmes prostituées vinrent chez le roi, et se présentèrent devant lui. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ὤφθησαν δύο γυναι̃κες πόρναι τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ καὶ ἔστησαν ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Tunc venerunt duæ mulieres meretrices ad regem, steteruntque coram eo : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃3 אז תבאנה שתים נשים זנות אל המלך ותעמדנה לפניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 17

And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

- L'une des femmes dit: Pardon! mon seigneur, moi et cette femme nous demeurions dans la même maison, et je suis accouché près d'elle dans la maison. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνὴ ἡ μία ἐν ἐμοί κύριε ἐγὼ καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὕτη οἰκου̃μεν ἐν οἴκω̨ ἑνὶ καὶ ἐτέκομεν ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ (Ⅲ)

- quarum una ait : Obsecro, mi domine : ego et mulier hæc habitabamus in domo una, et peperi apud eam in cubiculo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃3 ותאמר האשה האחת בי אדני אני והאשה הזאת ישבת בבית אחד ואלד עמה בבית ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 18

And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

- Trois jours après, cette femme est aussi accouché. Nous habitions ensemble, aucun étranger n'était avec nous dans la maison, il n'y avait que nous deux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ τρίτη̨ τεκούσης μου καὶ ἔτεκεν καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὕτη καὶ ἡμει̃ς κατὰ τὸ αὐτό καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν οὐθεὶς μεθ' ἡμω̃ν πάρεξ ἀμφοτέρων ἡμω̃ν ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Tertia autem die postquam ego peperi, peperit et hæc : et eramus simul, nullusque alius nobiscum in domo, exceptis nobis duabus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃3 ויהי ביום השלישי ללדתי ותלד גם האשה הזאת ואנחנו יחדו אין זר אתנו בבית זולתי שתים אנחנו בבית ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 19

And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

- Le fils de cette femme est mort pendant la nuit, parce qu'elle s'était couchée sur lui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέθανεν ὁ υἱὸς τη̃ς γυναικὸς ταύτης τὴν νύκτα ὡς ἐπεκοιμήθη ἐπ' αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Mortuus est autem filius mulieris hujus nocte : dormiens quippe oppressit eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃3 וימת בן האשה הזאת לילה אשר שכבה עליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 20

And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

- Elle s'est levée au milieu de la nuit, elle a pris mon fils à mes côtés tandis que ta servante dormait, et elle l'a couché dans son sein; et son fils qui était mort, elle l'a couché dans mon sein. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη μέσης τη̃ς νυκτὸς καὶ ἔλαβεν τὸν υἱόν μου ἐκ τω̃ν ἀγκαλω̃ν μου καὶ ἐκοίμισεν αὐτὸν ἐν τω̨̃ κόλπω̨ αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτη̃ς τὸν τεθνηκότα ἐκοίμισεν ἐν τω̨̃ κόλπω̨ μου (Ⅲ)

- Et consurgens intempestæ noctis silentio, tulit filium meum de latere meo, ancillæ tuæ dormientis, et collocavit in sinu suo : suum autem filium, qui erat mortuus, posuit in sinu meo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃3 ותקם בתוך הלילה ותקח את בני מאצלי ואמתך ישנה ותשכיבהו בחיקה ואת בנה המת השכיבה בחיקי ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 21

And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

- Le matin, je me suis levée pour allaiter mon fils; et voici, il était mort. Je l'ai regardé attentivement le matin; et voici, ce n'était pas mon fils que j'avais enfanté. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστην τὸ πρωὶ θηλάσαι τὸν υἱόν μου καὶ ἐκει̃νος ἠ̃ν τεθνηκώς καὶ ἰδοὺ κατενόησα αὐτὸν πρωί καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ υἱός μου ὃν ἔτεκον (Ⅲ)

- Cumque surrexissem mane ut darem lac filio meo, apparuit mortuus : quem diligentius intuens clara luce, deprehendi non esse meum quem genueram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃3 ואקם בבקר להיניק את בני והנה מת ואתבונן אליו בבקר והנה לא היה בני אשר ילדתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 22

And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

- L'autre femme dit: Au contraire! c'est mon fils qui est vivant, et c'est ton fils qui est mort. Mais la première répliqua: Nullement! C'est ton fils qui est mort, et c'est mon fils qui est vivant. C'est ainsi qu'elles parlèrent devant le roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνὴ ἡ ἑτέρα οὐχί ἀλλὰ ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ζω̃ν ὁ δὲ υἱός σου ὁ τεθνηκώς καὶ ἐλάλησαν ἐνώπιον του̃ βασιλέως (Ⅲ)

- Responditque altera mulier : Non est ita ut dicis, sed filius tuus mortuus est, meus autem vivit. E contrario illa dicebat : Mentiris : filius quippe meus vivit, et filius tuus mortuus est. Atque in hunc modum contendebant coram rege. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃3 ותאמר האשה האחרת לא כי בני החי ובנך המת וזאת אמרת לא כי בנך המת ובני החי ותדברנה לפני המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 23

Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

- Le roi dit: L'une dit: C'est mon fils qui est vivant, et c'est ton fils qui est mort; et l'autre dit: Nullement! c'est ton fils qui est mort, et c'est mon fils qui est vivant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐται̃ς σὺ λέγεις οὑ̃τος ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ζω̃ν καὶ ὁ υἱὸς ταύτης ὁ τεθνηκώς καὶ σὺ λέγεις οὐχί ἀλλὰ ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ζω̃ν καὶ ὁ υἱός σου ὁ τεθνηκώς (Ⅲ)

- Tunc rex ait : Hæc dicit : Filius meus vivit, et filius tuus mortuus est : et ista respondit : Non, sed filius tuus mortuus est, meus autem vivit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃3 ויאמר המלך זאת אמרת זה בני החי ובנך המת וזאת אמרת לא כי בנך המת ובני החי פ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 24

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

- Puis il ajouta: Apportez-moi une épée. On apporta une épée devant le roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς λάβετέ μοι μάχαιραν καὶ προσήνεγκαν τὴν μάχαιραν ἐνώπιον του̃ βασιλέως (Ⅲ)

- Dixit ergo rex : Afferte mihi gladium. Cumque attulissent gladium coram rege, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃3 ויאמר המלך קחו לי חרב ויבאו החרב לפני המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 25

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

- Et le roi dit: Coupez en deux l'enfant qui vit, et donnez-en la moitié à l'une et la moitié à l'autre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς διέλετε τὸ παιδίον τὸ θηλάζον τὸ ζω̃ν εἰς δύο καὶ δότε τὸ ἥμισυ αὐτου̃ ταύτη̨ καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ αὐτου̃ ταύτη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Dividite, inquit, infantem vivum in duas partes, et date dimidiam partem uni, et dimidiam partem alteri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃3 ויאמר המלך גזרו את הילד החי לשנים ותנו את החצי לאחת ואת החצי לאחת ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 26

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

- Alors la femme dont le fils était vivant sentit ses entrailles s'émouvoir pour son fils, et elle dit au roi: Ah! mon seigneur, donnez-lui l'enfant qui vit, et ne le faites point mourir. Mais l'autre dit: Il ne sera ni à moi ni à toi; coupez-le! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ἡ γυνή ἡ̃ς ἠ̃ν ὁ υἱὸς ὁ ζω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ὅτι ἐταράχθη ἡ μήτρα αὐτη̃ς ἐπὶ τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ αὐτη̃ς καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐν ἐμοί κύριε δότε αὐτη̨̃ τὸ παιδίον καὶ θανάτω̨ μὴ θανατώσητε αὐτόν καὶ αὕτη εἰ̃πεν μήτε ἐμοὶ μήτε αὐτη̨̃ ἔστω διέλετε (Ⅲ)

- Dixit autem mulier, cujus filius erat vivus, ad regem (commota sunt quippe viscera ejus super filio suo) : Obsecro, domine, date illi infantem vivum, et nolite interficere eum. E contrario illa dicebat : Nec mihi nec tibi sit, sed dividatur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃3 ותאמר האשה אשר בנה החי אל המלך כי נכמרו רחמיה על בנה ותאמר בי אדני תנו לה את הילוד החי והמת אל תמיתהו וזאת אמרת גם לי גם לך לא יהיה גזרו ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 27

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

- Et le roi, prenant la parole, dit: Donnez à la première l'enfant qui vit, et ne le faites point mourir. C'est elle qui est sa mère. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ εἰ̃πεν δότε τὸ παιδίον τη̨̃ εἰπούση̨ δότε αὐτη̨̃ αὐτὸ καὶ θανάτω̨ μὴ θανατώσητε αὐτόν αὐτὴ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Respondit rex, et ait : Date huic infantem vivum, et non occidatur : hæc est enim mater ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃3 ויען המלך ויאמר תנו לה את הילוד החי והמת לא תמיתהו היא אמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

3. 28

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

- Tout Israël apprit le jugement que le roi avait prononcé. Et l'on craignit le roi, car on vit que la sagesse de Dieu était en lui pour le diriger dans ses jugements. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤκουσαν πα̃ς Ισραηλ τὸ κρίμα του̃το ὃ ἔκρινεν ὁ βασιλεύς καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν ἀπὸ προσώπου του̃ βασιλέως ὅτι εἰ̃δον ὅτι φρόνησις θεου̃ ἐν αὐτω̨̃ του̃ ποιει̃ν δικαίωμα (Ⅲ)

- Audivit itaque omnis Israël judicium quod judicasset rex, et timuerunt regem, videntes sapientiam Dei esse in eo ad faciendum judicium. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃3 וישמעו כל ישראל את המשפט אשר שפט המלך ויראו מפני המלך כי ראו כי חכמת אלהים בקרבו לעשות משפט ס‬ (Ⅴ)
