16. 1

Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.

- Samson partit pour Gaza; il y vit une femme prostituée, et il entra chez elle. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη Σαμψων εἰς Γάζαν καὶ εἰ̃δεν ἐκει̃ γυναι̃κα πόρνην καὶ εἰση̃λθεν πρὸς αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Abiit quoque in Gazam, et vidit ibi mulierem meretricem, ingressusque est ad eam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃16 וילך שמשון עזתה וירא שם אשה זונה ויבא אליה ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 2

And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

- On dit aux gens de Gaza: Samson est arrivé ici. Et ils l'environnèrent, et se tinrent en embuscade toute la nuit à la porte de la ville. Ils restèrent tranquilles toute la nuit, disant: Au point du jour, nous le tuerons. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τοι̃ς Γαζαίοις λέγοντες ἥκει Σαμψων ὡ̃δε καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν καὶ ἐνήδρευσαν ἐπ' αὐτὸν ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐν τη̨̃ πύλη̨ τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ ἐκώφευσαν ὅλην τὴν νύκτα λέγοντες ἕως διαφαύση̨ ὁ ὄρθρος καὶ φονεύσωμεν αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Quod cum audissent Philisthiim, et percrebruisset apud eos intrasse urbem Samson, circumdederunt eum, positis in porta civitatis custodibus : et ibi tota nocte cum silentio præstolantes, ut facto mane exeuntem occiderent. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃16 לעזתים לאמר בא שמשון הנה ויסבו ויארבו לו כל הלילה בשער העיר ויתחרשו כל הלילה לאמר עד אור הבקר והרגנהו‪[U]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 3

And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

- Samson demeura couché jusqu'à minuit. Vers minuit, il se leva; et il saisit les battants de la porte de la ville et les deux poteaux, les arracha avec la barre, les mit sur ses épaules, et les porta sur le sommet de la montagne qui est en face d'Hébron. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Σαμψων ἕως μεσονυκτίου καὶ ἀνέστη ἐν ἡμίσει τη̃ς νυκτὸς καὶ ἐπελάβετο τω̃ν θυρω̃ν τη̃ς πύλης τη̃ς πόλεως σὺν τοι̃ς δυσὶ σταθμοι̃ς καὶ ἀνεβάστασεν αὐτὰς σὺν τω̨̃ μοχλω̨̃ καὶ ἔθηκεν ἐπ' ὤμων αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν κορυφὴν του̃ ὄρους του̃ ἐπὶ προσώπου Χεβρων καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὰ ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dormivit autem Samson usque ad medium noctem : et inde consurgens, apprehendit ambas portæ fores cum postibus suis et sera, impositasque humeris suis portavit ad verticem montis, qui respicit Hebron.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃16 וישכב שמשון עד חצי הלילה ויקם בחצי הלילה ויאחז בדלתות שער העיר ובשתי המזוזות ויסעם עם הבריח וישם על כתפיו ויעלם אל ראש ההר אשר על פני חברון פ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 4

And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

- Après cela, il aima une femme dans la vallée de Sorek. Elle se nommait Delila. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ του̃το καὶ ἠγάπησεν γυναι̃κα ἐν Αλσωρηχ καὶ ὄνομα αὐτη̨̃ Δαλιδα (Ⅲ)

- Post hæc amavit mulierem, quæ habitabat in valle Sorec, et vocabatur Dalila. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃16 ויהי אחרי כן ויאהב אשה בנחל שרק ושמה דלילה ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 5

And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

- Les princes des Philistins montèrent vers elle, et lui dirent: Flatte-le, pour savoir d'où lui vient sa grande force et comment nous pourrions nous rendre maîtres de lui; nous le lierons pour le dompter, et nous te donnerons chacun mille et cent sicles d'argent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβησαν πρὸς αὐτὴν οἱ ἄρχοντες τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ εἰ̃παν αὐτη̨̃ ἀπάτησον αὐτὸν καὶ ἰδὲ ἐν τίνι ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτου̃ ἡ μεγάλη καὶ ἐν τίνι δυνησόμεθα αὐτω̨̃ καὶ δήσομεν αὐτὸν του̃ ταπεινω̃σαι αὐτόν καὶ ἡμει̃ς δώσομέν σοι ἀνὴρ χιλίους καὶ ἑκατὸν ἀργυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Veneruntque ad eam principes Philisthinorum, atque dixerunt : Decipe eum, et disce ab illo, in quo habeat tantam fortitudinem, et quomodo eum superare valeamus, et vinctum affligere : quod si feceris, dabimus tibi singuli mille et centum argenteos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃16 ויעלו אליה סרני פלשתים ויאמרו לה פתי אותו וראי במה כחו גדול ובמה נוכל לו ואסרנהו לענתו ואנחנו נתן לך איש אלף ומאה כסף ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 6

And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

- Delila dit à Samson: Dis-moi, je te prie, d'où vient ta grande force, et avec quoi il faudrait te lier pour te dompter. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαλιδα πρὸς Σαμψων ἀπάγγειλον δή μοι ἐν τίνι ἡ ἰσχύς σου ἡ μεγάλη καὶ ἐν τίνι δεθήση̨ του̃ ταπεινωθη̃ναί σε (Ⅲ)

- Locuta est ergo Dalila ad Samson : Dic mihi, obsecro, in quo sit tua maxima fortitudo, et quid sit quo ligatus erumpere nequeas ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃16 ותאמר דלילה אל שמשון הגידה נא לי במה כחך גדול ובמה תאסר לענותך ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 7

And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withes that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

- Samson lui dit: Si on me liait avec sept cordes fraîches, qui ne fussent pas encore sèches, je deviendrais faible et je serais comme un autre homme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτὴν Σαμψων ἐὰν δήσωσίν με ἐν ἑπτὰ νευρέαις ὑγραι̃ς μὴ διεφθαρμέναις καὶ ἀσθενήσω καὶ ἔσομαι ὡς εἱ̃ς τω̃ν ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ)

- Cui respondit Samson : Si septem nerviceis funibus necdum siccis, et adhuc humentibus, ligatus fuero, infirmus ero ut ceteri homines. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃16 ויאמר אליה שמשון אם יאסרני בשבעה יתרים לחים אשר לא חרבו‪[Q]‬‪[c]‬ וחליתי והייתי כאחד האדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 8

Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withes which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

- Les princes des Philistins apportèrent à Delila sept cordes fraîches, qui n'étaient pas encore sèches. Et elle le lia avec ces cordes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνήνεγκαν αὐτη̨̃ οἱ ἄρχοντες τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων ἑπτὰ νευρὰς ὑγρὰς μὴ διεφθαρμένας καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν αὐται̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Attuleruntque ad eam satrapæ Philisthinorum septem funes, ut dixerat : quibus vinxit eam, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃16 ויעלו לה סרני פלשתים שבעה יתרים לחים אשר לא חרבו ותאסרהו בהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 9

Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withes, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

- Or des gens se tenaient en embuscade chez elle, dans une chambre. Elle lui dit: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Et il rompit les cordes, comme se rompt un cordon d'étoupe quand il sent le feu. Et l'on ne connut point d'où venait sa force. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸ ἔνεδρον αὐτη̨̃ ἐκάθητο ἐν τω̨̃ ταμιείω̨ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ ἀλλόφυλοι ἐπὶ σέ Σαμψων καὶ διέσπασεν τὰς νευρέας ὡς εἴ τις ἀποσπάσοι στρέμμα στιππύου ἐν τω̨̃ ὀσφρανθη̃ναι αὐτὸ πυρός καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώσθη ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- latentibus apud se insidiis, et in cubiculo finem rei expectantibus : clamavitque ad eum : Philisthiim super te, Samson. Qui rupit vincula, quomodo si rumpat quis filum de stuppæ tortum putamine, cum odorem ignis acceperit : et non est cognitum in quo esset fortitudo ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃16 והארב ישב לה בחדר ותאמר אליו פלשתים עליך שמשון וינתק את היתרים כאשר ינתק פתיל הנערת בהריחו אש ולא נודע כחו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 10

And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

- Delila dit à Samson: Voici, tu t'es joué de moi, tu m'as dit des mensonges. Maintenant, je te prie, indique-moi avec quoi il faut te lier. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαλιδα πρὸς Σαμψων ἰδοὺ ἐπλάνησάς με καὶ ἐλάλησας πρός με ψευδη̃ νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν ἀνάγγειλόν μοι ἐν τίνι δεθήση̨ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad eum Dalila : Ecce illusisti mihi, et falsum locutus es : saltem nunc indica mihi quo ligari debeas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃16 ותאמר דלילה אל שמשון הנה התלת בי ותדבר אלי כזבים עתה הגידה נא לי במה תאסר ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 11

And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

- Il lui dit: Si on me liait avec des cordes neuves, dont on ne se fût jamais servi, je deviendrais faible et je serais comme un autre homme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτήν ἐὰν δεσμεύοντες δήσωσίν με ἐν καλωδίοις καινοι̃ς οἱ̃ς οὐκ ἐγένετο ἐν αὐτοι̃ς ἔργον καὶ ἀσθενήσω καὶ ἔσομαι ὡς εἱ̃ς τω̃ν ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ)

- Cui ille respondit : Si ligatus fuero novis funibus, qui numquam fuerunt in opere, infirmus ero, et aliorum hominum similis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃16 ויאמר אליה אם אסור יאסרוני בעבתים חדשים אשר לא נעשה בהם מלאכה וחליתי והייתי כאחד האדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 12

Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

- Delila prit des cordes neuves, avec lesquelles elle le lia. Puis elle lui dit: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Or des gens se tenaient en embuscade dans une chambre. Et il rompit comme un fil les cordes qu'il avait aux bras. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔλαβεν Δαλιδα καλώδια καινὰ καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν αὐτοι̃ς καὶ τὰ ἔνεδρα ἐξη̃λθεν ἐκ του̃ ταμιείου καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀλλόφυλοι ἐπὶ σέ Σαμψων καὶ διέσπασεν αὐτὰ ἀπὸ βραχιόνων αὐτου̃ ὡς σπαρτίον (Ⅲ)

- Quibus rursum Dalila vinxit eum, et clamavit : Philisthiim super te, Samson : in cubiculo insidiis præparatis. Qui ita rupit vincula quasi fila telarum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃16 ותקח דלילה עבתים חדשים ותאסרהו בהם ותאמר אליו פלשתים עליך שמשון והארב ישב בחדר וינתקם מעל זרעתיו כחוט ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 13

And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

- Delila dit à Samson: Jusqu'à présent tu t'es joué de moi, tu m'as dit des mensonges. Déclare-moi avec quoi il faut te lier. Il lui dit: Tu n'as qu'à tisser les sept tresses de ma tête avec la chaîne du tissu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαλιδα πρὸς Σαμψων ἰδοὺ ἐπλάνησάς με καὶ ἐλάλησας πρὸς ἐμὲ ψευδη̃ ἀπάγγειλον δή μοι ἐν τίνι δεθήση̨ καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτήν ἐὰν ὑφάνη̨ς τὰς ἑπτὰ σειρὰς τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς μου σὺν τω̨̃ διάσματι καὶ ἐγκρούση̨ς τω̨̃ πασσάλω̨ εἰς τὸν τοι̃χον καὶ ἔσομαι ὡς εἱ̃ς τω̃ν ἀνθρώπων ἀσθενής (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Dalila rursum ad eum : Usquequo decipis me, et falsum loqueris ? ostende quo vinciri debeas. Cui respondit Samson : Si septem crines capitis mei cum licio plexueris, et clavum his circumligatum terræ fixeris, infirmus ero. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃16 ותאמר דלילה אל שמשון עד הנה התלת בי ותדבר אלי כזבים הגידה לי במה תאסר ויאמר אליה אם תארגי את שבע מחלפות ראשי עם המסכת ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 14

And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

- Et elle les fixa par la cheville. Puis elle lui dit: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Et il se réveilla de son sommeil, et il arracha la cheville du tissu et le tissu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ κοιμα̃σθαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἔλαβεν Δαλιδα τὰς ἑπτὰ σειρὰς τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς αὐτου̃ καὶ ὕφανεν ἐν τω̨̃ διάσματι καὶ ἔπηξεν τω̨̃ πασσάλω̨ εἰς τὸν τοι̃χον καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀλλόφυλοι ἐπὶ σέ Σαμψων καὶ ἐξυπνίσθη ἐκ του̃ ὕπνου αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐξη̃ρεν τὸν πάσσαλον του̃ ὑφάσματος ἐκ του̃ τοίχου (Ⅲ)

- Quod cum fecisset Dalila, dixit ad eum : Philisthiim super te, Samson. Qui consurgens de somno extraxit clavum cum crinibus et licio.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃16 ותתקע ביתד ותאמר אליו פלשתים עליך שמשון וייקץ משנתו ויסע את היתד הארג ואת המסכת ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 15

And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

- Elle lui dit: Comment peux-tu dire: Je t'aime! puisque ton coeur n'est pas avec moi? Voilà trois fois que tu t'es joué de moi, et tu ne m'as pas déclaré d'où vient ta grande force. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαλιδα πρὸς Σαμψων πω̃ς λέγεις ἠγάπηκά σε καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἡ καρδία σου μετ' ἐμου̃ του̃το τρίτον ἐπλάνησάς με καὶ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλάς μοι ἐν τίνι ἡ ἰσχύς σου ἡ μεγάλη (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad eum Dalila : Quomodo dicis quod amas me, cum animus tuus non sit mecum ? Per tres vices mentitus es mihi, et noluisti dicere in quo sit maxima fortitudo tua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃16 ותאמר אליו איך תאמר אהבתיך ולבך אין אתי זה שלש פעמים התלת בי ולא הגדת לי במה כחך גדול ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 16

And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

- Comme elle était chaque jour à le tourmenter et à l'importuner par ses instances, son âme s'impatienta à la mort, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐξέθλιψεν αὐτὸν ἐν λόγοις αὐτη̃ς πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας καὶ ἐστενοχώρησεν αὐτόν καὶ ὠλιγοψύχησεν ἕως του̃ ἀποθανει̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Cumque molesta esset ei, et per multos dies jugiter adhæreret, spatium ad quietem non tribuens, defecit anima ejus, et ad mortem usque lassata est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃16 ויהי כי הציקה לו בדבריה כל הימים ותאלצהו ותקצר נפשו למות ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 17

That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

- il lui ouvrit tout son coeur, et lui dit: Le rasoir n'a point passé sur ma tête, parce que je suis consacré à Dieu dès le ventre de ma mère. Si j'étais rasé, ma force m'abandonnerait, je deviendrais faible, et je serais comme tout autre homme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν αὐτη̨̃ τὴν πα̃σαν καρδίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτη̨̃ σίδηρος οὐκ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλήν μου ὅτι ἅγιος θεου̃ ἐγώ εἰμι ἀπὸ κοιλίας μητρός μου ἐὰν οὐ̃ν ξυρήσωμαι ἀποστήσεται ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ἡ ἰσχύς μου καὶ ἀσθενήσω καὶ ἔσομαι ὡς πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι (Ⅲ)

- Tunc aperiens veritatem rei, dixit ad eam : Ferrum numquam ascendit super caput meum, quia nazaræus, id est, consecratus Deo, sum de utero matris meæ : si rasum fuerit caput meum, recedet a me fortitudo mea, et deficiam, eroque sicut ceteri homines. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃16 ויגד לה את כל לבו ויאמר לה מורה לא עלה על ראשי כי נזיר אלהים אני מבטן אמי אם גלחתי וסר ממני כחי וחליתי והייתי ככל האדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 18

And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath showed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

- Delila, voyant qu'il lui avait ouvert tout son coeur, envoya appeler les princes des Philistins, et leur fit dire: Montez cette fois, car il m'a ouvert tout son coeur. Et les princes des Philistins montèrent vers elle, et apportèrent l'argent dans leurs mains. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δεν Δαλιδα ὅτι ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτη̨̃ πα̃σαν τὴν καρδίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τοὺς ἄρχοντας τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων λέγουσα ἀνάβητε ἔτι τὸ ἅπαξ του̃το ὅτι ἀπήγγειλέν μοι τὴν πα̃σαν καρδίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνέβησαν πρὸς αὐτὴν οἱ ἄρχοντες τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀνήνεγκαν τὸ ἀργύριον ἐν χερσὶν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Vidensque illa quod confessus ei esset omnem animum suum, misit ad principes Philisthinorum ac mandavit : Ascende adhuc semel, quia nunc mihi aperuit cor suum. Qui ascenderunt assumpta pecunia, quam promiserant. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃16 ותרא דלילה‪[P]‬‪[p]‬ כי הגיד לה את כל לבו ותשלח ותקרא לסרני פלשתים לאמר עלו הפעם כי הגיד *לה **לי את כל לבו ועלו אליה סרני פלשתים ויעלו הכסף בידם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 19

And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

- Elle l'endormit sur ses genoux. Et ayant appelé un homme, elle rasa les sept tresses de la tête de Samson, et commença ainsi à le dompter. Il perdit sa force. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκοίμισεν Δαλιδα τὸν Σαμψων ἐπὶ τὰ γόνατα αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ἄνδρα καὶ ἐξύρησεν τὰς ἑπτὰ σειρὰς τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς αὐτου̃ καὶ ἤρξατο ταπεινω̃σαι αὐτόν καὶ ἀπέστη ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτου̃ ἀπ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- At illa dormire eum fecit super genua sua, et in sinu suo reclinare caput. Vocavitque tonsorem, et rasit septem crines ejus, et cœpit abigere eum, et a se repellere : statim enim ab eo fortitudo discessit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃16 ותישנהו על ברכיה ותקרא לאיש ותגלח את שבע מחלפות ראשו ותחל לענותו ויסר כחו מעליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 20

And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

- Elle dit alors: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Et il se réveilla de son sommeil, et dit: Je m'en tirerai comme les autres fois, et je me dégagerai. Il ne savait pas que l'Éternel s'était retiré de lui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαλιδα ἀλλόφυλοι ἐπὶ σέ Σαμψων καὶ ἐξυπνίσθη ἐκ του̃ ὕπνου αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐξελεύσομαι ὡς ἅπαξ καὶ ἅπαξ καὶ ἐκτιναχθήσομαι καὶ αὐτὸς οὐκ ἔγνω ὅτι ἀπέστη ὁ κύριος ἀπάνωθεν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque : Philisthiim super te, Samson. Qui de somno consurgens, dixit in animo suo : Egrediar sicut ante feci, et me excutiam : nesciens quod recessisset ab eo Dominus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃16 ותאמר פלשתים עליך שמשון ויקץ משנתו ויאמר אצא כפעם בפעם ואנער והוא לא ידע כי יהוה סר מעליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 21

But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

- Les Philistins le saisirent, et lui crevèrent les yeux; ils le firent descendre à Gaza, et le lièrent avec des chaînes d'airain. Il tournait la meule dans la prison. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκράτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι καὶ ἐξέκοψαν τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ κατήνεγκαν αὐτὸν εἰς Γάζαν καὶ ἐπέδησαν αὐτὸν ἐν πέδαις χαλκείαις καὶ ἠ̃ν ἀλήθων ἐν οἴκω̨ του̃ δεσμωτηρίου (Ⅲ)

- Quem cum apprehendissent Philisthiim, statim eruerunt oculos ejus, et duxerunt Gazam vinctum catenis, et clausum in carcere molere fecerunt.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃16 ויאחזוהו פלשתים וינקרו את עיניו ויורידו אותו עזתה ויאסרוהו בנחשתים ויהי טוחן בבית *האסירים **האסורים ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 22

Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

- Cependant les cheveux de sa tête recommençaient à croître, depuis qu'il avait été rasé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤρξατο θρὶξ τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς αὐτου̃ βλαστάνειν καθὼς ἐξυρήσατο (Ⅲ)

- Jamque capilli ejus renasci cœperunt. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃16 ויחל שער ראשו לצמח כאשר גלח פ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 23

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

- Or les princes des Philistins s'assemblèrent pour offrir un grand sacrifice à Dagon, leur dieu, et pour se réjouir. Ils disaient: Notre dieu a livré entre nos mains Samson, notre ennemi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων συνήχθησαν θυ̃σαι θυσίασμα μέγα τω̨̃ Δαγων θεω̨̃ αὐτω̃ν καὶ εὐφρανθη̃ναι καὶ εἰ̃παν ἔδωκεν ὁ θεὸς ἐν χειρὶ ἡμω̃ν τὸν Σαμψων τὸν ἐχθρὸν ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et principes Philisthinorum convenerunt in unum ut immolarent hostias magnificas Dagon deo suo, et epularentur, dicentes : Tradidit deus noster inimicum nostrum Samson in manus nostras. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃16 וסרני פלשתים נאספו‪[U]‬ לזבח זבח גדול לדגון אלהיהם ולשמחה ויאמרו נתן אלהינו בידנו את שמשון אויבינו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 24

And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

- Et quand le peuple le vit, ils célébrèrent leur dieu, en disant: Notre dieu a livré entre nos mains notre ennemi, celui qui ravageait notre pays, et qui multipliait nos morts. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δαν αὐτὸν ὁ λαὸς καὶ ὕμνησαν τὸν θεὸν αὐτω̃ν ὅτι παρέδωκεν ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν τὸν ἐχθρὸν ἡμω̃ν ἐν χειρὶ ἡμω̃ν τὸν ἐρημου̃ντα τὴν γη̃ν ἡμω̃ν καὶ ὃς ἐπλήθυνεν τοὺς τραυματίας ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quod etiam populus videns, laudabat deum suum, eademque dicebat : Tradidit deus noster adversarium nostrum in manus nostras, qui delevit terram nostram, et occidit plurimos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃16 ויראו אתו העם ויהללו את אלהיהם כי אמרו נתן אלהינו בידנו את אויבנו ואת מחריב ארצנו ואשר הרבה את חללינו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 25

And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

- Dans la joie de leur coeur, ils dirent: Qu'on appelle Samson, et qu'il nous divertisse! Ils firent sortir Samson de la prison, et il joua devant eux. Ils le placèrent entre les colonnes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὅτε ἠγαθύνθη ἡ καρδία αὐτω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃παν καλέσατε τὸν Σαμψων ἐξ οἴκου φυλακη̃ς καὶ παιξάτω ἐνώπιον ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν τὸν Σαμψων ἀπὸ οἴκου δεσμωτηρίου καὶ ἔπαιζεν ἐνώπιον αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐρράπιζον αὐτὸν καὶ ἔστησαν αὐτὸν ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν κιόνων (Ⅲ)

- Lætantesque per convivia, sumptis jam epulis, præceperunt ut vocaretur Samson, et ante eos luderet. Qui adductus de carcere ludebat ante eos, feceruntque eum stare inter duas columnas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃16 ויהי *כי *טוב **כטוב לבם ויאמרו קראו לשמשון וישחק לנו ויקראו לשמשון מבית *האסירים **האסורים ויצחק לפניהם ויעמידו אותו בין העמודים ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 26

And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

- Et Samson dit au jeune homme qui le tenait par la main: Laisse-moi, afin que je puisse toucher les colonnes sur lesquelles repose la maison et m'appuyer contre elles. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμψων πρὸς τὸν νεανίαν τὸν κρατου̃ντα τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ ἄφες με καὶ ψηλαφήσω τοὺς κίονας ἐφ' οἱ̃ς ὁ οἰ̃κος στήκει ἐπ' αὐτούς καὶ ἐπιστηριχθήσομαι ἐπ' αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Qui dixit puero regenti gressus suos : Dimitte me, ut tangam columnas, quibus omnis imminet domus, et recliner super eas, et paululum requiescam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃16 ויאמר שמשון אל הנער המחזיק בידו הניחה אותי *והימשני **והמשני את העמדים אשר הבית נכון עליהם ואשען עליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 27

Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

- La maison était remplie d'hommes et de femmes; tous les princes des Philistins étaient là, et il y avait sur le toit environ trois mille personnes, hommes et femmes, qui regardaient Samson jouer. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὁ οἰ̃κος πλήρης τω̃ν ἀνδρω̃ν καὶ τω̃ν γυναικω̃ν καὶ ἐκει̃ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ δω̃μα ὡς ἑπτακόσιοι ἄνδρες καὶ γυναι̃κες οἱ θεωρου̃ντες ἐν παιγνίαις Σαμψων (Ⅲ)

- Domus autem erat plena virorum ac mulierum, et erant ibi omnes principes Philisthinorum, ac de tecto et solario circiter tria millia utriusque sexus spectantes ludentem Samson. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃16 והבית מלא האנשים והנשים ושמה כל סרני פלשתים ועל הגג כשלשת אלפים איש ואשה הראים בשחוק שמשון ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 28

And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

- Alors Samson invoqua l'Éternel, et dit: Seigneur Éternel! souviens-toi de moi, je te prie; ô Dieu! donne-moi de la force seulement cette fois, et que d'un seul coup je tire vengeance des Philistins pour mes deux yeux! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔκλαυσεν Σαμψων πρὸς κύριον καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αδωναιε κύριε μνήσθητι δή μου νυ̃ν καὶ ἐνίσχυσόν με ἔτι τὸ ἅπαξ του̃το θεέ καὶ ἀνταποδώσω ἀνταπόδοσιν μίαν περὶ τω̃ν δύο ὀφθαλμω̃ν μου τοι̃ς ἀλλοφύλοις (Ⅲ)

- At ille invocato Domino ait : Domine Deus, memento mei, et redde mihi nunc fortitudinem pristinam, Deus meus, ut ulciscar me de hostibus meis, et pro amissione duorum luminum unam ultionem recipiam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃16 ויקרא שמשון אל יהוה ויאמר אדני יהוה זכרני נא וחזקני נא אך הפעם הזה האלהים ואנקמה נקם אחת משתי עיני מפלשתים ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 29

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

- Et Samson embrassa les deux colonnes du milieu sur lesquelles reposait la maison, et il s'appuya contre elles; l'une était à sa droite, et l'autre à sa gauche. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ περιέλαβεν Σαμψων τοὺς δύο κίονας του̃ οἴκου ἐφ' οὓς ὁ οἰ̃κος εἱστήκει καὶ ἐπεστηρίχθη ἐπ' αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐκράτησεν ἕνα τη̨̃ δεξια̨̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἕνα τη̨̃ ἀριστερα̨̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et apprehendens ambas columnas quibus innitebatur domus, alteramque earum dextera et alteram læva tenens, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃16 וילפת שמשון את שני עמודי התוך אשר הבית נכון עליהם ויסמך עליהם אחד בימינו ואחד בשמאלו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 30

And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

- Samson dit: Que je meure avec les Philistins! Il se pencha fortement, et la maison tomba sur les princes et sur tout le peuple qui y était. Ceux qu'il fit périr à sa mort furent plus nombreux que ceux qu'il avait tués pendant sa vie. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμψων ἀποθανέτω ψυχή μου μετὰ ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐβάσταξεν ἐν ἰσχύι καὶ ἔπεσεν ὁ οἰ̃κος ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν τὸν ἐν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἠ̃σαν οἱ τεθνηκότες οὓς ἐθανάτωσεν Σαμψων ἐν τω̨̃ θανάτω̨ αὐτου̃ πλείους ἢ οὓς ἐθανάτωσεν ἐν τη̨̃ ζωη̨̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- ait : Moriatur anima mea cum Philisthiim. Concussisque fortiter columnis, cecidit domus super omnes principes, et ceteram multitudinem quæ ibi erat : multoque plures interfecit moriens, quam ante vivus occiderat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃16 ויאמר שמשון תמות נפשי עם פלשתים ויט בכח ויפל הבית על הסרנים ועל כל העם אשר בו ויהיו המתים אשר המית במותו רבים מאשר המית בחייו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 31

Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.

- Ses frères et toute la maison de son père descendirent, et l'emportèrent. Lorsqu'ils furent remontés, ils l'enterrèrent entre Tsorea et Eschthaol dans le sépulcre de Manoach, son père. Il avait été juge en Israël pendant vingt ans. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατέβησαν οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ ὁ οἰ̃κος του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔλαβον αὐτὸν καὶ ἀνέβησαν καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἀνὰ μέσον Σαραα καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Εσθαολ ἐν τω̨̃ τάφω̨ Μανωε του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ καὶ αὐτὸς ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ εἴκοσι ἔτη (Ⅲ)

- Descendentes autem fratres ejus et universa cognatio, tulerunt corpus ejus, et sepelierunt inter Saraa et Esthaol in sepulchro patris sui Manue : judicavitque Israël viginti annis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃16 וירדו אחיו וכל בית אביהו וישאו אתו ויעלו ויקברו אותו בין צרעה ובין אשתאל בקבר מנוח אביו והוא שפט את ישראל עשרים שנה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
