3. 1  
Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
- Voici les nations que l'Éternel laissa pour éprouver par elles Israël, tous ceux qui n'avaient pas connu toutes les guerres de Canaan. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ταυ̃τα τὰ ἔθνη ἃ ἀφη̃κεν κύριος αὐτὰ ὥστε πειράσαι ἐν αὐτοι̃ς τὸν Ισραηλ πάντας τοὺς μὴ ἐγνωκότας τοὺς πολέμους Χανααν (Ⅲ)
- Hæ sunt gentes quas Dominus dereliquit, ut erudiret in eis Israëlem, et omnes qui non noverant bella Chananæorum : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃3   ואלה הגוים אשר הניח יהוה לנסות בם את ישראל את כל אשר לא ידעו את כל מלחמות כנען ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 2  
Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;
- Il voulait seulement que les générations des enfants d'Israël connussent et apprissent la guerre, ceux qui ne l'avaient pas connue auparavant. (Ⅱ)
- πλὴν διὰ τὰς γενεὰς υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ του̃ διδάξαι αὐτοὺς πόλεμον πλὴν οἱ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτω̃ν οὐκ ἔγνωσαν αὐτά (Ⅲ)
- ut postea discerent filii eorum certare cum hostibus, et habere consuetudinem præliandi : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃3   רק למען דעת דרות בני ישראל ללמדם מלחמה רק אשר לפנים לא ידעום ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 3  
Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.
- Ces nations étaient: les cinq princes des Philistins, tous les Cananéens, les Sidoniens, et les Héviens qui habitaient la montagne du Liban, depuis la montagne de Baal Hermon jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath. (Ⅱ)
- τὰς πέντε σατραπείας τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ πάντα τὸν Χαναναι̃ον καὶ τὸν Σιδώνιον καὶ τὸν Ευαι̃ον τὸν κατοικου̃ντα τὸν Λίβανον ἀπὸ του̃ ὄρους του̃ Αερμων ἕως Λαβωεμαθ (Ⅲ)
- quinque satrapas Philisthinorum, omnemque Chananæum, et Sidonium, atque Hevæum, qui habitabat in monte Libano, de monte Baal Hermon usque ad introitum Emath. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃3   חמשת סרני פלשתים וכל הכנעני והצידני והחוי ישב הר הלבנון מהר בעל חרמון עד לבוא חמת ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 4  
And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
- Ces nations servirent à mettre Israël à l'épreuve, afin que l'Éternel sût s'ils obéiraient aux commandements qu'il avait prescrits à leurs pères par Moïse. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ὥστε πειράσαι ἐν αὐτοι̃ς τὸν Ισραηλ γνω̃ναι εἰ ἀκούσονται τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου ἃς ἐνετείλατο τοι̃ς πατράσιν αὐτω̃ν ἐν χειρὶ Μωυση̃ (Ⅲ)
- Dimisitque eos, ut in ipsis experiretur Israëlem, utrum audiret mandata Domini quæ præceperat patribus eorum per manum Moysi, an non. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃3   ויהיו לנסות בם את ישראל לדעת הישמעו את מצות יהוה אשר צוה את אבותם ביד משה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 5  
And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:
- Et les enfants d'Israël habitèrent au milieu des Cananéens, des Héthiens, des Amoréens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens; (Ⅱ)
- καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ κατώ̨κησαν ἐν μέσω̨ του̃ Χαναναίου καὶ του̃ Χετταίου καὶ του̃ Αμορραίου καὶ του̃ Φερεζαίου καὶ του̃ Ευαίου καὶ του̃ Ιεβουσαίου (Ⅲ)
- Itaque filii Israël habitaverunt in medio Chananæi, et Hethæi, et Amorrhæi, et Pherezæi, et Hevæi, et Jebusæi : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃3   ובני ישראל ישבו בקרב הכנעני החתי והאמרי והפרזי והחוי והיבוסי ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 6  
And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
- ils prirent leurs filles pour femmes, ils donnèrent à leurs fils leurs propres filles, et ils servirent leurs dieux. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔλαβον τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτω̃ν ἑαυτοι̃ς εἰς γυναι̃κας καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτω̃ν ἔδωκαν τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν τοι̃ς θεοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- et duxerunt uxores filias eorum, ipsique filias suas filiis eorum tradiderunt, et servierunt diis eorum.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃3   ויקחו את בנותיהם להם לנשים ואת בנותיהם נתנו לבניהם ויעבדו את אלהיהם פ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 7  
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
- Les enfants d'Israël firent ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel, ils oublièrent l'Éternel, et ils servirent les Baals et les idoles. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸ πονηρὸν ἐναντίον κυρίου καὶ ἐπελάθοντο κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν τοι̃ς Βααλιμ καὶ τοι̃ς ἄλσεσιν (Ⅲ)
- Feceruntque malum in conspectu Domini, et obliti sunt Dei sui, servientes Baalim et Astaroth. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃3   ויעשו בני ישראל את הרע בעיני יהוה וישכחו את יהוה אלהיהם ויעבדו את הבעלים ואת האשרות ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 8  
Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.
- La colère de l'Éternel s'enflamma contre Israël, et il les vendit entre les mains de Cuschan Rischeathaïm, roi de Mésopotamie. Et les enfants d'Israël furent asservis huit ans à Cuschan Rischeathaïm. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμω̨̃ κύριος ἐν τω̨̃ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπέδοτο αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ Χουσαρσαθαιμ βασιλέως Συρίας ποταμω̃ν καὶ ἐδούλευσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τω̨̃ Χουσαρσαθαιμ ἔτη ὀκτώ (Ⅲ)
- Iratusque contra Israël Dominus, tradidit eos in manus Chusan Rasathaim regis Mesopotamiæ, servieruntque ei octo annis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃3   ויחר אף יהוה בישראל וימכרם ביד כושן רשעתים מלך ארם נהרים ויעבדו בני ישראל את כושן רשעתים שמנה שנים ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 9  
And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
- Les enfants d'Israël crièrent à l'Éternel, et l'Éternel leur suscita un libérateur qui les délivra, Othniel, fils de Kenaz, frère cadet de Caleb. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐκέκραξαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἤγειρεν κύριος σωτη̃ρα τω̨̃ Ισραηλ καὶ ἔσωσεν αὐτούς τὸν Γοθονιηλ υἱὸν Κενεζ ἀδελφου̃ Χαλεβ τὸν νεώτερον ὑπὲρ αὐτόν (Ⅲ)
- Et clamaverunt ad Dominum, qui suscitavit eis salvatorem, et liberavit eos, Othoniel videlicet filium Cenez, fratrem Caleb minorem : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃3   ויזעקו בני ישראל אל יהוה ויקם יהוה מושיע לבני ישראל ויושיעם את עתניאל בן קנז אחי כלב הקטן ממנו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 10  
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.
- L'esprit de l'Éternel fut sur lui. Il devint juge en Israël, et il partit pour la guerre. L'Éternel livra entre ses mains Cuschan Rischeathaïm, roi de Mésopotamie, et sa main fut puissante contre Cuschan Rischeathaïm. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ' αὐτὸν πνευ̃μα κυρίου καὶ ἔκρινεν τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν εἰς πόλεμον πρὸς Χουσαρσαθαιμ καὶ παρέδωκεν κύριος ἐν χειρὶ αὐτου̃ τὸν Χουσαρσαθαιμ βασιλέα Συρίας ποταμω̃ν καὶ ἐκραταιώθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὸν Χουσαρσαθαιμ (Ⅲ)
- fuitque in eo spiritus Domini, et judicavit Israël. Egressusque est ad pugnam, et tradidit Dominus in manus ejus Chusan Rasathaim regem Syriæ, et oppressit eum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃3   ותהי עליו רוח יהוה וישפט את ישראל ויצא למלחמה ויתן יהוה בידו את כושן רשעתים מלך ארם ותעז ידו על כושן רשעתים ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 11  
And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
- Le pays fut en repos pendant quarante ans. Et Othniel, fils de Kenaz, mourut. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἡσύχασεν ἡ γη̃ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἀπέθανεν Γοθονιηλ υἱὸς Κενεζ (Ⅲ)
- Quievitque terra quadraginta annis, et mortuus est Othoniel filius Cenez.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃3   ותשקט הארץ ארבעים שנה וימת עתניאל בן קנז פ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 12  
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.
- Les enfants d'Israël firent encore ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel; et l'Éternel fortifia Églon, roi de Moab, contre Israël, parce qu'ils avaient fait ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ προσέθεντο οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ποιη̃σαι τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ἐνίσχυσεν κύριος τὸν Εγλωμ βασιλέα Μωαβ ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ διὰ τὸ πεποιηκέναι αὐτοὺς τὸ πονηρὸν ἔναντι κυρίου (Ⅲ)
- Addiderunt autem filii Israël facere malum in conspectu Domini : qui confortavit adversum eos Eglon regem Moab, quia fecerunt malum in conspectu ejus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃3   ויספו בני ישראל לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה ויחזק יהוה את עגלון מלך מואב על ישראל על כי עשו את הרע בעיני יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 13  
And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.
- Églon réunit à lui les fils d'Ammon et les Amalécites, et il se mit en marche. Il battit Israël, et ils s'emparèrent de la ville des palmiers. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ συνήγαγεν πρὸς ἑαυτὸν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ Αμαληκ καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκληρονόμησεν τὴν πόλιν τω̃ν φοινίκων (Ⅲ)
- Et copulavit ei filios Ammon, et Amalec : abiitque et percussit Israël, atque possedit urbem palmarum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃3   ויאסף אליו את בני עמון ועמלק וילך ויך את ישראל ויירשו את עיר התמרים ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 14  
So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
- Et les enfants d'Israël furent asservis dix-huit ans à Églon, roi de Moab. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐδούλευσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τω̨̃ Εγλωμ βασιλει̃ Μωαβ ἔτη δέκα ὀκτώ (Ⅲ)
- Servieruntque filii Israël Eglon regi Moab decem et octo annis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃3   ויעבדו בני ישראל את עגלון מלך מואב שמונה עשרה שנה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 15  
But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.
- Les enfants d'Israël crièrent à l'Éternel, et l'Éternel leur suscita un libérateur, Éhud, fils de Guéra, Benjamite, qui ne se servait pas de la main droite. Les enfants d'Israël envoyèrent par lui un présent à Églon, roi de Moab. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐκέκραξαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἤγειρεν αὐτοι̃ς σωτη̃ρα τὸν Αωδ υἱὸν Γηρα υἱὸν του̃ Ιεμενι ἄνδρα ἀμφοτεροδέξιον καὶ ἐξαπέστειλαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ δω̃ρα ἐν χειρὶ αὐτου̃ τω̨̃ Εγλωμ βασιλει̃ Μωαβ (Ⅲ)
- Et postea clamaverunt ad Dominum, qui suscitavit eis salvatorem vocabulo Aod, filium Gera, filii Jemini, qui utraque manu pro dextera utebatur. Miseruntque filii Israël per illum munera Eglon regi Moab. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃3   ויזעקו בני ישראל אל יהוה ויקם יהוה להם מושיע את אהוד בן גרא בן הימיני איש אטר יד ימינו וישלחו בני ישראל בידו מנחה לעגלון מלך מואב ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 16  
But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
- Éhud se fit une épée à deux tranchants, longue d'une coudée, et il la ceignit sous ses vêtements, au côté droit. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑαυτω̨̃ Αωδ μάχαιραν δίστομον σπιθαμη̃ς τὸ μη̃κος αὐτη̃ς καὶ περιεζώσατο αὐτὴν ὑπὸ τὸν μανδύαν ἐπὶ τὸν μηρὸν τὸν δεξιὸν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Qui fecit sibi gladium ancipitem, habentem in medio capulum longitudinis palmæ manus, et accinctus est eo subter sagum in dextro femore. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃3   ויעש לו אהוד חרב ולה שני פיות גמד ארכה ויחגר אותה מתחת למדיו על ירך ימינו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 17  
And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.
- Il offrit le présent à Églon, roi de Moab: or Églon était un homme très gras. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ προσήνεγκεν τὰ δω̃ρα τω̨̃ Εγλωμ βασιλει̃ Μωαβ καὶ Εγλωμ ἀνὴρ ἀστει̃ος σφόδρα (Ⅲ)
- Obtulitque munera Eglon regi Moab. Erat autem Eglon crassus nimis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃3   ויקרב את המנחה לעגלון מלך מואב ועגלון איש בריא מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 18  
And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.
- Lorsqu'il eut achevé d'offrir le présent, il renvoya les gens qui l'avaient apporté. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα συνετέλεσεν Αωδ προσφέρων τὰ δω̃ρα καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν τοὺς φέροντας τὰ δω̃ρα (Ⅲ)
- Cumque obtulisset ei munera, prosecutus est socios, qui cum eo venerant. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃3   ויהי כאשר כלה להקריב את המנחה וישלח את העם נשאי המנחה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 19  
But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
- Il revint lui-même depuis les carrières près de Guilgal, et il dit: O roi! j'ai quelque chose de secret à te dire. Le roi dit: Silence! Et tous ceux qui étaient auprès de lui sortirent. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ αὐτὸς ὑπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ τω̃ν γλυπτω̃ν τω̃ν μετὰ τη̃ς Γαλγαλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αωδ λόγος μοι κρύφιος πρὸς σέ βασιλευ̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Εγλωμ πρὸς αὐτόν σιώπα καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν ἀφ' ἑαυτου̃ πάντας τοὺς ἐφεστω̃τας ἐπ' αὐτόν (Ⅲ)
- Et reversus de Galgalis, ubi erant idola, dixit ad regem : Verbum secretum habeo ad te, o rex. Et ille imperavit silentium : egressisque omnibus qui circa eum erant, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃3   והוא שב מן הפסילים אשר את הגלגל ויאמר דבר סתר לי אליך המלך ויאמר הס ויצאו מעליו כל העמדים עליו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 20  
And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlor, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.
- Éhud l'aborda comme il était assis seul dans sa chambre d'été, et il dit: J'ai une parole de Dieu pour toi. Églon se leva de son siège. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ Αωδ εἰση̃λθεν πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ αὐτὸς ἐκάθητο ἐν τω̨̃ ὑπερώ̨ω̨ τω̨̃ θερινω̨̃ τω̨̃ ἑαυτου̃ μονώτατος καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αωδ λόγος θεου̃ μοι πρὸς σέ βασιλευ̃ καὶ ἐξανέστη ἀπὸ του̃ θρόνου Εγλωμ ἐγγὺς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- ingressus est Aod ad eum : sedebat autem in æstivo cœnaculo solus : dixitque : Verbum Dei habeo ad te. Qui statim surrexit de throno. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃3   ואהוד בא אליו והוא ישב בעלית המקרה אשר לו לבדו ויאמר אהוד דבר אלהים לי אליך ויקם מעל הכסא ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 21  
And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:
- Alors Éhud avança la main gauche, tira l'épée de son côté droit, et la lui enfonça dans le ventre. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ἅμα τω̨̃ ἀναστη̃ναι αὐτὸν καὶ ἐξέτεινεν Αωδ τὴν χει̃ρα τὴν ἀριστερὰν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔλαβεν τὴν μάχαιραν ἐπάνωθεν του̃ μηρου̃ αὐτου̃ του̃ δεξιου̃ καὶ ἐνέπηξεν αὐτὴν ἐν τη̨̃ κοιλία̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Extenditque Aod sinistram manum, et tulit sicam de dextro femore suo, infixitque eam in ventre ejus (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃3   וישלח אהוד את יד שמאלו ויקח את החרב מעל ירך ימינו ויתקעה בבטנו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 22  
And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
- La poignée même entra après la lame, et la graisse se referma autour de la lame; car il ne retira pas du ventre l'épée, qui sortit par derrière. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπεισήνεγκεν καί γε τὴν λαβὴν ὀπίσω τη̃ς φλογός καὶ ἀπέκλεισεν τὸ στέαρ κατὰ τη̃ς φλογός ὅτι οὐκ ἐξέσπασεν τὴν μάχαιραν ἐκ τη̃ς κοιλίας αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν Αωδ τὴν προστάδα (Ⅲ)
- tam valide, ut capulus sequeretur ferrum in vulnere, ac pinguissimo adipe stringeretur. Nec eduxit gladium, sed ita ut percusserat, reliquit in corpore : statimque per secreta naturæ alvi stercora proruperunt. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃3   ויבא גם הנצב אחר הלהב ויסגר החלב בעד הלהב כי לא שלף החרב מבטנו ויצא הפרשדנה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 23  
Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlor upon him, and locked them.
- Éhud sortit par le portique, ferma sur lui les portes de la chambre haute, et tira le verrou. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν τοὺς διατεταγμένους καὶ ἀπέκλεισεν τὰς θύρας του̃ ὑπερώ̨ου κατ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐσφήνωσεν (Ⅲ)
- Aod autem clausis diligentissime ostiis cœnaculi, et obfirmatis sera, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃3   ויצא אהוד המסדרונה ויסגר דלתות העליה בעדו ונעל ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 24  
When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlor were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
- Quand il fut sorti, les serviteurs du roi vinrent et regardèrent; et voici, les portes de la chambre haute étaient fermées au verrou. Ils dirent: Sans doute il se couvre les pieds dans la chambre d'été. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ αὐτὸς ἐξη̃λθεν καὶ οἱ παι̃δες αὐτου̃ εἰση̃λθον καὶ εἰ̃δον καὶ ἰδοὺ αἱ θύραι του̃ ὑπερώ̨ου ἐσφηνωμέναι καὶ εἰ̃παν μήποτε ἀποκενοι̃ τοὺς πόδας αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ ταμιείω̨ τω̨̃ θερινω̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- per posticum egressus est. Servique regis ingressi viderunt clausas fores cœnaculi, atque dixerunt : Forsitan purgat alvum in æstivo cubiculo. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃3   והוא יצא ועבדיו באו ויראו והנה דלתות העליה נעלות ויאמרו אך מסיך הוא את רגליו בחדר המקרה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 25  
And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlor; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
- Ils attendirent longtemps; et comme il n'ouvrait pas les portes de la chambre haute, ils prirent la clé et ouvrirent, et voici, leur maître était mort, étendu par terre. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ὑπέμειναν ἕως ἠ̨σχύνοντο καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ἀνοίγων τὰς θύρας του̃ ὑπερώ̨ου καὶ ἔλαβον τὴν κλει̃δα καὶ ἤνοιξαν καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ κύριος αὐτω̃ν πεπτωκὼς ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν τεθνηκώς (Ⅲ)
- Expectantesque diu donec erubescerent, et videntes quod nullus aperiret, tulerunt clavem : et aperientes invenerunt dominum suum in terra jacentem mortuum.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃3   ויחילו עד בוש והנה‪[Q]‬‪[n]‬‪[v]‬ איננו פתח דלתות העליה‪[Q]‬‪[c]‬ ויקחו את המפתח ויפתחו והנה אדניהם נפל ארצה מת ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 26  
And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.
- Pendant leurs délais, Éhud prit la fuite, dépassa les carrières, et se sauva à Seïra. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ Αωδ διεσώθη ἕως ἐθορυβου̃ντο καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ προσνοω̃ν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ αὐτὸς παρη̃λθεν τὰ γλυπτὰ καὶ διεσώθη εἰς Σετιρωθα (Ⅲ)
- Aod autem, dum illi turbarentur, effugit, et pertransiit locum idolorum, unde reversus fuerat. Venitque in Seirath : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃3   ואהוד נמלט עד התמהמהם והוא עבר את הפסילים וימלט השעירתה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 27  
And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.
- Dès qu'il fut arrivé, il sonna de la trompette dans la montagne d'Éphraïm. Les enfants d'Israël descendirent avec lui de la montagne, et il se mit à leur tête. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἠ̃λθεν Αωδ εἰς γη̃ν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐσάλπισεν ἐν κερατίνη̨ ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει Εφραιμ καὶ κατέβησαν σὺν αὐτω̨̃ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ του̃ ὄρους καὶ αὐτὸς ἔμπροσθεν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- et statim insonuit buccina in monte Ephraim, descenderuntque cum eo filii Israël, ipso in fronte gradiente. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃3   ויהי בבואו ויתקע בשופר בהר אפרים וירדו עמו בני ישראל מן ההר והוא לפניהם ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 28  
And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
- Il leur dit: Suivez-moi, car l'Éternel a livré entre vos mains les Moabites, vos ennemis. Ils descendirent après lui, s'emparèrent des gués du Jourdain vis-à-vis de Moab, et ne laissèrent passer personne. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτούς κατάβητε ὀπίσω μου ὅτι παρέδωκεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ἡμω̃ν τὴν Μωαβ ἐν χειρὶ ἡμω̃ν καὶ κατέβησαν ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ καὶ προκατελάβοντο τὰς διαβάσεις του̃ Ιορδάνου τη̃ς Μωαβ καὶ οὐκ ἀφη̃κεν ἄνδρα διαβη̃ναι (Ⅲ)
- Qui dixit ad eos : Sequimini me : tradidit enim Dominus inimicos nostros Moabitas in manus nostras. Descenderuntque post eum, et occupaverunt vada Jordanis quæ transmittunt in Moab : et non dimiserunt transire quemquam : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃3   ויאמר אלהם רדפו אחרי כי נתן יהוה את איביכם את מואב בידכם וירדו אחריו וילכדו את מעברות הירדן למואב ולא נתנו איש לעבר ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 29  
And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valor; and there escaped not a man.
- Ils battirent dans ce temps-là environ dix mille hommes de Moab, tous robustes, tous vaillants, et pas un n'échappa. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὴν Μωαβ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ὡσεὶ δέκα χιλιάδας ἀνδρω̃ν πα̃ν λιπαρὸν καὶ πάντα ἄνδρα δυνάμεως καὶ οὐ διεσώθη ἀνήρ (Ⅲ)
- sed percusserunt Moabitas in tempore illo, circiter decem millia, omnes robustos et fortes viros. Nullus eorum evadere potuit. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃3   ויכו את מואב בעת ההיא כעשרת אלפים איש כל שמן וכל איש חיל ולא נמלט איש ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 30  
So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.
- En ce jour, Moab fut humilié sous la main d'Israël. Et le pays fut en repos pendant quatre-vingts ans. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐνετράπη Μωαβ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ὑπὸ χει̃ρα Ισραηλ καὶ ἡσύχασεν ἡ γη̃ ὀγδοήκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἔκρινεν αὐτοὺς Αωδ ἕως οὑ̃ ἀπέθανεν (Ⅲ)
- Humiliatusque est Moab in die illo sub manu Israël : et quievit terra octoginta annis.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃3   ותכנע מואב ביום ההוא תחת יד ישראל ותשקט הארץ שמונים שנה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 31  
And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.
- Après lui, il y eut Schamgar, fils d'Anath. Il battit six cents hommes des Philistins avec un aiguillon à boeufs. Et lui aussi fut un libérateur d'Israël. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ μετ' αὐτὸν ἀνέστη Σαμεγαρ υἱὸς Διναχ καὶ ἐπάταξεν τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους εἰς ἑξακοσίους ἄνδρας ἐν τω̨̃ ἀροτρόποδι τω̃ν βοω̃ν καὶ ἔσωσεν καί γε αὐτὸς τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)
- Post hunc fuit Samgar filius Anath, qui percussit de Philisthiim sexcentos viros vomere : et ipse quoque defendit Israël. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃3   ואחריו היה שמגר בן ענת ויך את פלשתים שש מאות איש במלמד הבקר וישע גם הוא את ישראל ס‬ (Ⅴ)
