8. 1

And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

- Les hommes d'Éphraïm dirent à Gédéon: Que signifie cette manière d'agir envers nous? pourquoi ne pas nous avoir appelés, quand tu es allé combattre Madian? Et ils eurent avec lui une violente querelle. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃παν πρὸς Γεδεων ἀνὴρ Εφραιμ τί τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το ἐποίησας ἡμι̃ν του̃ μὴ καλέσαι ἡμα̃ς ὅτε ἐπορεύθης παρατάξασθαι ἐν Μαδιαμ καὶ διελέξαντο πρὸς αὐτὸν ἰσχυρω̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Dixeruntque ad eum viri Ephraim : Quid est hoc quod facere voluisti, ut nos non vocares, cum ad pugnam pergeres contra Madian ? jurgantes fortiter, et prope vim inferentes. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃8 ויאמרו אליו איש אפרים מה הדבר הזה עשית לנו לבלתי קראות לנו כי הלכת להלחם במדין ויריבון אתו בחזקה ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 2

And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

- Gédéon leur répondit: Qu'ai-je fait en comparaison de vous? Le grappillage d'Éphraïm ne vaut-il pas mieux que la vendange d'Abiézer? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτούς τί ἐποίησα νυ̃ν καθὼς ὑμει̃ς ἢ οὐχὶ κρει̃σσον ἐπιφυλλὶς Εφραιμ ἢ τρυγητὸς Αβιεζερ (Ⅲ)

- Quibus ille respondit : Quod enim tale facere potui, quale vos fecistis ? nonne melior est racemus Ephraim, vindemiis Abiezer ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃8 ויאמר אליהם מה עשיתי עתה ככם הלוא טוב עללות אפרים מבציר אביעזר ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 3

God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.

- C'est entre vos mains que Dieu a livré les chefs de Madian, Oreb et Zeeb. Qu'ai-je donc pu faire en comparaison de vous? Lorsqu'il eut ainsi parlé, leur colère contre lui s'apaisa. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν χειρὶ ὑμω̃ν παρέδωκεν κύριος τοὺς ἄρχοντας Μαδιαμ τὸν Ωρηβ καὶ τὸν Ζηβ καὶ τί ἠδυνήθην ποιη̃σαι ὡς ὑμει̃ς τότε ἀνέθη τὸ πνευ̃μα αὐτω̃ν ἀπ' αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ λαλη̃σαι αὐτὸν τὸν λόγον του̃τον (Ⅲ)

- In manus vestras Dominus tradidit principes Madian, Oreb et Zeb : quid tale facere potui, quale vos fecistis ? Quod cum locutus esset, requievit spiritus eorum, quo tumebant contra eum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃8 בידכם נתן אלהים את שרי מדין את ערב ואת זאב ומה יכלתי עשות ככם אז רפתה רוחם מעליו בדברו הדבר הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 4

And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.

- Gédéon arriva au Jourdain, et il le passa, lui et les trois cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, fatigués, mais poursuivant toujours. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Γεδεων ἐπὶ τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ διέβη αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ τριακόσιοι ἄνδρες οἱ μετ' αὐτου̃ πεινω̃ντες καὶ διώκοντες (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venisset Gedeon ad Jordanem, transivit eum cum trecentis viris, qui secum erant : et præ lassitudine, fugientes persequi non poterant. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃8 ויבא גדעון הירדנה עבר הוא ושלש מאות האיש אשר אתו עיפים ורדפים ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 5

And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

- Il dit aux gens de Succoth: Donnez, je vous prie, quelques pains au peuple qui m'accompagne, car ils sont fatigués, et je suis à la poursuite de Zébach et de Tsalmunna, rois de Madian. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν τοι̃ς ἀνδράσιν Σοκχωθ δότε δὴ ἄρτους εἰς τροφὴν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ τω̨̃ ἐν ποσίν μου ὅτι ἐκλείπουσιν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι διώκων ὀπίσω του̃ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα βασιλέων Μαδιαμ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad viros Soccoth : Date, obsecro, panes populo qui mecum est, quia valde defecerunt : ut possimus persequi Zebee et Salmana reges Madian. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃8 ויאמר לאנשי סכות תנו נא ככרות לחם לעם אשר ברגלי כי עיפים הם ואנכי רדף אחרי זבח וצלמנע מלכי מדין ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 6

And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?

- Les chefs de Succoth répondirent: La main de Zébach et de Tsalmunna est-elle déjà en ton pouvoir, pour que nous donnions du pain à ton armée? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πον οἱ ἄρχοντες Σοκχωθ μὴ χεὶρ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα νυ̃ν ἐν χειρί σου οὐ δώσομεν τη̨̃ δυνάμει σου ἄρτους (Ⅲ)

- Responderunt principes Soccoth : Forsitan palmæ manuum Zebee et Salmana in manu tua sunt, et idcirco postulas ut demus exercitui tuo panes. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃8 ויאמר שרי סכות הכף זבח וצלמנע עתה בידך כי נתן לצבאך לחם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 7

And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.

- Et Gédéon dit: Eh bien! lorsque l'Éternel aura livré entre mes mains Zébach et Tsalmunna, je broierai votre chair avec des épines du désert et avec des chardons. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Γεδεων διὰ του̃το ἐν τω̨̃ δου̃ναι κύριον τὸν Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἐν χειρί μου καὶ ἐγὼ ἀλοήσω τὰς σάρκας ὑμω̃ν ἐν ται̃ς ἀκάνθαις τη̃ς ἐρήμου καὶ ἐν ται̃ς αβαρκηνιν (Ⅲ)

- Quibus ille ait : Cum ergo tradiderit Dominus Zebee et Salmana in manus meas, conteram carnes vestras cum spinis tribulisque deserti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃8 ויאמר גדעון לכן בתת יהוה את זבח ואת צלמנע בידי ודשתי את בשרכם את קוצי המדבר ואת הברקנים ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 8

And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

- De là il monta à Penuel, et il fit aux gens de Penuel la même demande. Ils lui répondirent comme avaient répondu ceux de Succoth. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη ἐκει̃θεν εἰς Φανουηλ καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὡσαύτως καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτω̨̃ οἱ ἄνδρες Φανουηλ ὃν τρόπον ἀπεκρίθησαν ἄνδρες Σοκχωθ (Ⅲ)

- Et inde conscendens, venit in Phanuel : locutusque est ad viros loci illius similia. Cui et illi responderunt, sicut responderant viri Soccoth. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃8 ויעל משם פנואל וידבר אליהם כזאת ויענו אותו אנשי פנואל כאשר ענו אנשי סכות ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 9

And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.

- Et il dit aussi aux gens de Penuel: Quand je reviendrai en paix, je renverserai cette tour. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Γεδεων πρὸς ἄνδρας Φανουηλ ἐν ἐπιστροφη̨̃ μου μετ' εἰρήνης τὸν πύργον του̃τον κατασκάψω (Ⅲ)

- Dixit itaque et eis : Cum reversus fuero victor in pace, destruam turrim hanc.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃8 ויאמר גם לאנשי פנואל לאמר בשובי בשלום אתץ את המגדל הזה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 10

Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.

- Zébach et Tsalmunna étaient à Karkor et leur armée avec eux, environ quinze mille hommes, tous ceux qui étaient restés de l'armée entière des fils de l'Orient; cent vingt mille hommes tirant l'épée avaient été tués. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἐν Καρκαρ καὶ ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτω̃ν μετ' αὐτω̃ν ὡσεὶ δέκα πέντε χιλιάδες πάντες οἱ καταλελειμμένοι ἀπὸ πάσης παρεμβολη̃ς ἀλλοφύλων καὶ οἱ πεπτωκότες ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι χιλιάδες ἀνδρω̃ν σπωμένων ῥομφαίαν (Ⅲ)

- Zebee autem et Salmana requiescebant cum omni exercitu suo. Quindecim enim millia viri remanserant ex omnibus turmis orientalium populorum, cæsis centum viginti millibus bellatorum educentium gladium. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃8 וזבח וצלמנע בקרקר ומחניהם עמם כחמשת עשר אלף כל הנותרים מכל מחנה בני קדם והנפלים מאה ועשרים אלף איש שלף חרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 11

And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host; for the host was secure.

- Gédéon monta par le chemin de ceux qui habitent sous les tentes, à l'orient de Nobach et de Jogbeha, et il battit l'armée qui se croyait en sûreté. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη Γεδεων ὁδὸν τω̃ν σκηνούντων ἐν σκηναι̃ς ἀπὸ ἀνατολω̃ν τη̃ς Ναβαι καὶ Ιεγεβαλ καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὴν παρεμβολήν καὶ ἡ παρεμβολὴ ἠ̃ν πεποιθυι̃α (Ⅲ)

- Ascendensque Gedeon per viam eorum, qui in tabernaculis morabantur, ad orientalem partem Nobe et Jegbaa, percussit castra hostium, qui securi erant, et nihil adversi suspicabantur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃8 ויעל גדעון דרך השכוני באהלים מקדם לנבח ויגבהה ויך את המחנה והמחנה היה בטח ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 12

And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host.

- Zébach et Tsalmunna prirent la fuite; Gédéon les poursuivit, il s'empara des deux rois de Madian, Zébach et Tsalmunna, et il mit en déroute toute l'armée. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔφυγον Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα καὶ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐκράτησεν τοὺς δύο βασιλει̃ς Μαδιαμ τὸν Ζεβεε καὶ τὸν Σελμανα καὶ πα̃σαν τὴν παρεμβολὴν ἐξέστησεν (Ⅲ)

- Fugeruntque Zebee et Salmana, quos persequens Gedeon comprehendit, turbato omni exercitu eorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃8 וינוסו זבח וצלמנע וירדף אחריהם וילכד את שני מלכי מדין את זבח ואת צלמנע וכל המחנה החריד ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 13

And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up,

- Gédéon, fils de Joas, revint de la bataille par la montée de Hérès. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Γεδεων υἱὸς Ιωας ἀπὸ τη̃ς παρατάξεως ἀπὸ ἐπάνωθεν τη̃ς παρατάξεως Αρες (Ⅲ)

- Revertensque de bello ante solis ortum, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃8 וישב גדעון בן יואש מן המלחמה מלמעלה החרס ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 14

And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and inquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.

- Il saisit d'entre les gens de Succoth un jeune homme qu'il interrogea, et qui lui mit par écrit les noms des chefs et des anciens de Succoth, soixante-dix-sept hommes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ συνέλαβεν παιδάριον ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἀνδρω̃ν Σοκχωθ καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτόν καὶ ἔγραψεν πρὸς αὐτὸν τὰ ὀνόματα τω̃ν ἀρχόντων Σοκχωθ καὶ τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων αὐτω̃ν ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ ἑπτὰ ἄνδρας (Ⅲ)

- apprehendit puerum de viris Soccoth : interrogavitque eum nomina principum et seniorum Soccoth, et descripsit septuaginta septem viros. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃8 וילכד נער מאנשי סכות וישאלהו ויכתב אליו את שרי סכות ואת זקניה שבעים ושבעה איש ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 15

And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?

- Puis il vint auprès des gens de Succoth, et dit: Voici Zébach et Tsalmunna, au sujet desquels vous m'avez insulté, en disant: La main de Zébach et de Tsalmunna est-elle déjà en ton pouvoir, pour que nous donnions du pain à tes hommes fatigués? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρεγένετο Γεδεων πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας Σοκχωθ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἐν οἱ̃ς ὠνειδίσατέ με λέγοντες μὴ χεὶρ Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα νυ̃ν ἐν χειρί σου ὅτι δώσομεν τοι̃ς ἀνδράσιν τοι̃ς ἐκλείπουσιν ἄρτους (Ⅲ)

- Venitque ad Soccoth, et dixit eis : En Zebee et Salmana, super quibus exprobrastis mihi, dicentes : Forsitan manus Zebee et Salmana in manibus tuis sunt, et idcirco postulas ut demus viris, qui lassi sunt et defecerunt, panes. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃8 ויבא אל אנשי סכות ויאמר הנה זבח וצלמנע אשר חרפתם אותי לאמר הכף זבח וצלמנע עתה בידך כי נתן לאנשיך היעפים לחם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 16

And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.

- Et il prit les anciens de la ville, et châtia les gens de Succoth avec des épines du désert et avec des chardons. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔλαβεν τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τη̃ς πόλεως ἐν ται̃ς ἀκάνθαις τη̃ς ἐρήμου καὶ ται̃ς βαρακηνιμ καὶ ἠλόησεν ἐν αὐτοι̃ς τοὺς ἄνδρας τη̃ς πόλεως (Ⅲ)

- Tulit ergo seniores civitatis et spinas deserti ac tribulos, et contrivit cum eis atque comminuit viros Soccoth. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃8 ויקח את זקני העיר ואת קוצי המדבר ואת הברקנים וידע בהם את אנשי סכות ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 17

And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.

- Il renversa aussi la tour de Penuel, et tua les gens de la ville. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸν πύργον Φανουηλ κατέστρεψεν καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν τοὺς ἄνδρας τη̃ς πόλεως (Ⅲ)

- Turrim quoque Phanuel subvertit, occisis habitatoribus civitatis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃8 ואת מגדל פנואל נתץ ויהרג את אנשי העיר ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 18

Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

- Il dit à Zébach et à Tsalmunna: Comment étaient les hommes que vous avez tués au Thabor? Ils répondirent: Ils étaient comme toi, chacun avait l'air d'un fils de roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα που̃ οἱ ἄνδρες οὓς ἀπεκτείνατε ἐν Θαβωρ καὶ εἰ̃παν ὡς σύ ὣς αὐτοὶ εἰς ὁμοίωμα υἱου̃ βασιλέως (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad Zebee et Salmana : Quales fuerunt viri, quos occidistis in Thabor ? Qui responderunt : Similes tui, et unus ex eis quasi filius regis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃8 ויאמר אל זבח ואל צלמנע איפה האנשים אשר הרגתם בתבור ויאמרו‪[Q]‬‪[n]‬‪[v]‬ כמוך כמוהם אחד כתאר בני המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 19

And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.

- Il dit: C'étaient mes frères, fils de ma mère. L'Éternel est vivant! si vous les eussiez laissés vivre, je ne vous tuerais pas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Γεδεων ἀδελφοί μου καὶ υἱοὶ τη̃ς μητρός μου ἠ̃σαν ζη̨̃ κύριος εἰ ἐζωογονήκειτε αὐτούς οὐκ ἂν ἀπέκτεινα ὑμα̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Quibus ille respondit : Fratres mei fuerunt, filii matris meæ. Vivit Dominus, quia si servassetis eos, non vos occiderem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃8 ויאמר אחי בני אמי הם חי יהוה לו החיתם אותם לא הרגתי אתכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 20

And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.

- Et il dit à Jéther, son premier-né: Lève-toi, tue-les! Mais le jeune homme ne tira point son épée, parce qu'il avait peur, car il était encore un enfant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιεθερ τω̨̃ πρωτοτόκω̨ αὐτου̃ ἀναστὰς ἀπόκτεινον αὐτούς καὶ οὐκ ἔσπασεν τὸ παιδάριον τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτου̃ ὅτι ἐφοβήθη ὅτι ἔτι νεώτερος ἠ̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Jether primogenito suo : Surge, et interfice eos. Qui non eduxit gladium : timebat enim, quia adhuc puer erat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃8 ויאמר ליתר בכורו קום הרג אותם ולא שלף הנער חרבו כי ירא כי עודנו נער ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 21

Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks.

- Zébach et Tsalmunna dirent: Lève-toi toi-même, et tue-nous! car tel est l'homme, telle est sa force. Et Gédéon se leva, et tua Zébach et Tsalmunna. Il prit ensuite les croissants qui étaient aux cous de leurs chameaux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ζεβεε καὶ Σελμανα ἀνάστα σὺ καὶ συνάντησον ἡμι̃ν ὅτι ὡς ἀνδρὸς ἡ δύναμίς σου καὶ ἀνέστη Γεδεων καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν τὸν Ζεβεε καὶ τὸν Σελμανα καὶ ἔλαβεν τοὺς μηνίσκους τοὺς ἐν τοι̃ς τραχήλοις τω̃ν καμήλων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dixeruntque Zebee et Salmana : Tu surge, et irrue in nos : quia juxta ætatem robur est hominis. Surrexit Gedeon, et interfecit Zebee et Salmana : et tulit ornamenta ac bullas quibus colla regalium camelorum decorari solent.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃8 ויאמר זבח וצלמנע קום אתה ופגע בנו כי כאיש גבורתו ויקם גדעון ויהרג את זבח ואת צלמנע ויקח את השהרנים אשר בצוארי גמליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 22

Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.

- Les hommes d'Israël dirent à Gédéon: Domine sur nous, et toi, et ton fils, et le fils de ton fils, car tu nous as délivrés de la main de Madian. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πον ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ πρὸς Γεδεων κύριε ἄρξον ἡμω̃ν καὶ σὺ καὶ ὁ υἱός σου ὅτι σὺ ἔσωσας ἡμα̃ς ἐκ χειρὸς Μαδιαμ (Ⅲ)

- Dixeruntque omnes viri Israël ad Gedeon : Dominare nostri tu, et filius tuus, et filius filii tui : quia liberasti nos de manu Madian. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃8 ויאמרו איש ישראל אל גדעון משל בנו גם אתה גם בנך גם בן בנך כי הושעתנו מיד מדין ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 23

And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.

- Gédéon leur dit: Je ne dominerai point sur vous, et mes fils ne domineront point sur vous; c'est l'Éternel qui dominera sur vous. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Γεδεων οὐκ ἄρξω ἐγώ καὶ οὐκ ἄρξει ὁ υἱός μου ἐν ὑμι̃ν κύριος ἄρξει ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quibus ille ait : Non dominabor vestri, nec dominabitur in vos filius meus, sed dominabitur vobis Dominus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃8 ויאמר אלהם גדעון לא אמשל אני בכם ולא ימשל בני בכם יהוה ימשל בכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 24

And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)

- Gédéon leur dit: J'ai une demande à vous faire: donnez-moi chacun les anneaux que vous avez eus pour butin. -Les ennemis avaient des anneaux d'or, car ils étaient Ismaélites. - (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Γεδεων πρὸς αὐτούς αἰτήσομαι παρ' ὑμω̃ν αἴτημα καὶ δότε μοι ἀνὴρ ἐνώτιον ἐκ σκύλων αὐτου̃ ὅτι ἐνώτια χρυσα̃ αὐτοι̃ς ὅτι Ισμαηλι̃ται ἠ̃σαν (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad eos : Unam petitionem postulo a vobis : date mihi inaures ex præda vestra. Inaures enim aureas Ismaëlitæ habere consueverant. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃8 ויאמר אלהם גדעון אשאלה מכם שאלה ותנו לי איש נזם שללו כי נזמי זהב להם כי ישמעאלים הם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 25

And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.

- Ils dirent: Nous les donnerons volontiers. Et ils étendirent un manteau, sur lequel chacun jeta les anneaux de son butin. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃παν διδόντες δώσομεν καὶ ἀνέπτυξεν τὸ ἱμάτιον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔβαλεν ἐκει̃ ἀνὴρ ἐνώτιον σκύλων αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Qui responderunt : Libentissime dabimus. Expandentesque super terram pallium, projecerunt in eo inaures de præda : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃8 ויאמרו נתון נתן ויפרשו את השמלה וישליכו שמה איש נזם שללו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 26

And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks.

- Le poids des anneaux d'or que demanda Gédéon fut de mille sept cents sicles d'or, sans les croissants, les pendants d'oreilles, et les vêtements de pourpre que portaient les rois de Madian, et sans les colliers qui étaient aux cous de leurs chameaux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ σταθμὸς τω̃ν ἐνωτίων τω̃ν χρυσω̃ν ὡ̃ν ἤ̨τησεν χίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι χρυσοι̃ πάρεξ τω̃ν μηνίσκων καὶ τω̃ν στραγγαλίδων καὶ τω̃ν ἱματίων καὶ πορφυρίδων τω̃ν ἐπὶ βασιλευ̃σι Μαδιαμ καὶ ἐκτὸς τω̃ν περιθεμάτων ἃ ἠ̃ν ἐν τοι̃ς τραχήλοις τω̃ν καμήλων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- et fuit pondus postulatarum inaurium, mille septingenti auri sicli, absque ornamentis, et monilibus, et veste purpurea, quibus reges Madian uti soliti erant, et præter torques aureas camelorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃8 ויהי משקל נזמי הזהב אשר שאל אלף ושבע מאות זהב לבד מן השהרנים והנטפות ובגדי הארגמן שעל מלכי מדין ולבד מן הענקות אשר בצוארי גמליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 27

And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.

- Gédéon en fit un éphod, et il le plaça dans sa ville, à Ophra, où il devint l'objet des prostitutions de tout Israël; et il fut un piège pour Gédéon et pour sa maison. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτὸ Γεδεων εἰς εφωθ καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν πόλει αὐτου̃ Εφραθα καὶ ἐξεπόρνευσεν πα̃ς Ισραηλ ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ ἐκει̃ καὶ ἐγένετο τω̨̃ Γεδεων καὶ τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ αὐτου̃ εἰς σκω̃λον (Ⅲ)

- Fecitque ex eo Gedeon ephod, et posuit illud in civitate sua Ephra. Fornicatusque est omnis Israël in eo, et factum est Gedeoni et omni domui ejus in ruinam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃8 ויעש אותו גדעון לאפוד ויצג אותו בעירו בעפרה ויזנו כל ישראל אחריו שם ויהי לגדעון ולביתו למוקש ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 28

Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

- Madian fut humilié devant les enfants d'Israël, et il ne leva plus la tête. Et le pays fut en repos pendant quarante ans, durant la vie de Gédéon. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ συνεστάλη Μαδιαμ ἐνώπιον υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ καὶ οὐ προσέθηκαν ἀ̃ραι κεφαλὴν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἡσύχασεν ἡ γη̃ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη ἐν ἡμέραις Γεδεων (Ⅲ)

- Humiliatus est autem Madian coram filiis Israël, nec potuerunt ultra cervices elevare : sed quievit terra per quadraginta annos, quibus Gedeon præfuit.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃8 ויכנע מדין לפני בני ישראל ולא יספו לשאת ראשם ותשקט הארץ ארבעים שנה בימי גדעון פ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 29

And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.

- Jerubbaal, fils de Joas, s'en retourna, et demeura dans sa maison. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ιεροβααλ υἱὸς Ιωας καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν οἴκω̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Abiit itaque Jerobaal filius Joas, et habitavit in domo sua : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃8 וילך ירבעל בן יואש וישב בביתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 30

And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives.

- Gédéon eut soixante-dix fils, issus de lui, car il eut plusieurs femmes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τω̨̃ Γεδεων ἠ̃σαν ἑβδομήκοντα υἱοὶ ἐκπεπορευμένοι ἐκ μηρω̃ν αὐτου̃ ὅτι γυναι̃κες πολλαὶ ἠ̃σαν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- habuitque septuaginta filios, qui egressi sunt de femore ejus : eo quod plures haberet uxores. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃8 ולגדעון היו שבעים בנים יצאי ירכו כי נשים רבות היו לו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 31

And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.

- Sa concubine, qui était à Sichem, lui enfanta aussi un fils, à qui on donna le nom d'Abimélec. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παλλακὴ αὐτου̃ ἠ̃ν ἐν Συχεμ καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτω̨̃ καί γε αὐτὴ υἱόν καὶ ἔθηκεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ Αβιμελεχ (Ⅲ)

- Concubina autem illius, quam habebat in Sichem, genuit ei filium nomine Abimelech. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃8 ופילגשו אשר בשכם ילדה לו גם היא בן וישם את שמו אבימלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 32

And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

- Gédéon, fils de Joas, mourut après une heureuse vieillesse; et il fut enterré dans le sépulcre de Joas, son père, à Ophra, qui appartenait à la famille d'Abiézer. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέθανεν Γεδεων υἱὸς Ιωας ἐν πόλει αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν τω̨̃ τάφω̨ Ιωας του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἐν Εφραθα Αβιεσδρι (Ⅲ)

- Mortuusque est Gedeon filius Joas in senectute bona, et sepultus est in sepulchro Joas patris sui in Ephra de familia Ezri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃8 וימת גדעון בן יואש בשיבה טובה ויקבר בקבר יואש אביו בעפרה אבי העזרי פ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 33

And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baalberith their god.

- Lorsque Gédéon fut mort, les enfants d'Israël recommencèrent à se prostituer aux Baals, et ils prirent Baal Berith pour leur dieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο καθὼς ἀπέθανεν Γεδεων καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐξεπόρνευσαν ὀπίσω τω̃ν Βααλιμ καὶ ἔθηκαν ἑαυτοι̃ς τω̨̃ Βααλ διαθήκην του̃ εἰ̃ναι αὐτοι̃ς αὐτὸν εἰς θεόν (Ⅲ)

- Postquam autem mortuus est Gedeon, aversi sunt filii Israël, et fornicati sunt cum Baalim. Percusseruntque cum Baal fœdus, ut esset eis in deum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃8 ויהי כאשר מת גדעון וישובו בני ישראל ויזנו אחרי הבעלים וישימו להם בעל ברית לאלהים ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 34

And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side:

- Les enfants d'Israël ne se souvinrent point de l'Éternel, leur Dieu, qui les avait délivrés de la main de tous les ennemis qui les entouraient. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐκ ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ του̃ ῥυσαμένου αὐτοὺς ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων τω̃ν θλιβόντων αὐτοὺς κυκλόθεν (Ⅲ)

- nec recordati sunt Domini Dei sui, qui eruit eos de manibus inimicorum suorum omnium per circuitum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃8 ולא זכרו בני ישראל את יהוה אלהיהם המציל אותם מיד כל איביהם מסביב ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 35

Neither showed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had showed unto Israel.

- Et ils n'eurent point d'attachement pour la maison de Jerubbaal, de Gédéon, après tout le bien qu'il avait fait à Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησαν ἔλεος μετὰ του̃ οἴκου Ιεροβααλ αὐτός ἐστιν Γεδεων κατὰ πάντα τὰ ἀγαθά ἃ ἐποίησεν μετὰ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- nec fecerunt misericordiam cum domo Jerobaal Gedeon, juxta omnia bona quæ fecerat Israëli. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃8 ולא עשו חסד עם בית ירבעל גדעון ככל הטובה אשר עשה עם ישראל פ‬ (Ⅴ)
