But there was a strong tower within the city, and thither fled all the men and women, and all they of the city, and shut it to them, and gat them up to the top of the tower.
- Il y avait au milieu de la ville une forte tour, où se réfugièrent tous les habitants de la ville, hommes et femmes; ils fermèrent sur eux, et montèrent sur le toit de la tour. (Ⅱ) - καὶ πύργος ἰσχυρὸς ἠ̃ν ἐν μέσω̨ τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ ἔφυγον ἐκει̃ πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες καὶ αἱ γυναι̃κες τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ ἔκλεισαν ἔξωθεν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ τὸ δω̃μα του̃ πύργου (Ⅲ) - Erat autem turris excelsa in media civitate, ad quam confugerant simul viri ac mulieres, et omnes principes civitatis, clausa firmissime janua, et super turris tectum stantes per propugnacula. (Ⅳ) - 51 ׃9 ומגדל עז היה בתוך העיר וינסו שמה כל האנשים והנשים וכל בעלי העיר ויסגרו בעדם ויעלו על גג המגדל (Ⅴ)

And Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it, and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire.
- Abimélec parvint jusqu'à la tour; il l'attaqua, et s'approcha de la porte pour y mettre le feu. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Αβιμελεχ ἕως του̃ πύργου καὶ παρετάξαντο αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἤγγισεν Αβιμελεχ ἕως τη̃ς θύρας του̃ πύργου του̃ ἐμπρη̃σαι αὐτὸν ἐν πυρί (Ⅲ) - Accedensque Abimelech juxta turrim, pugnabat fortiter : et appropinquans ostio, ignem supponere nitebatur : (Ⅳ) - 52 ׃9 ויבא אבימלך עד המגדל וילחם בו ויגש עד פתח המגדל לשרפו באש (Ⅴ)

And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech's head, and all to brake his skull.
- Alors une femme lança sur la tête d'Abimélec un morceau de meule de moulin, et lui brisa le crâne. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔρριψεν γυνὴ μία κλάσμα ἐπιμυλίου ἐπὶ κεφαλὴν Αβιμελεχ καὶ ἔκλασεν τὸ κρανίον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - et ecce una mulier fragmen molæ desuper jaciens, illisit capiti Abimelech, et confregit cerebrum ejus. (Ⅳ) - 53 ׃9 ותשלך אשה אחת פלח רכב על ראש אבימלך ותרץ את גלגלתו (Ⅴ)

Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A women slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.
- Aussitôt il appela le jeune homme qui portait ses armes, et lui dit: Tire ton épée, et donne-moi la mort, de peur qu'on ne dise de moi: C'est une femme qui l'a tué. Le jeune homme le perça, et il mourut. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐβόησεν ταχὺ πρὸς τὸ παιδάριον τὸ αἰ̃ρον τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ σπάσον τὴν ῥομφαίαν μου καὶ θανάτωσόν με μήποτε εἴπωσιν γυνὴ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν καὶ ἐξεκέντησεν αὐτὸν τὸ παιδάριον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέθανεν (Ⅲ) - Qui vocavit cito armigerum suum, et ait ad eum : Evagina gladium tuum, et percute me, ne forte dicatur quod a femina interfectus sim. Qui jussa perficiens, interfecit eum. (Ⅳ) - 54 ׃9 ויקרא מהרה אל הנער נשא כליו ויאמר לו שלף חרבך ומותתני פן יאמרו לי אשה הרגתהו וידקרהו נערו וימת (Ⅴ)

And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.
- Quand les hommes d'Israël virent qu'Abimélec était mort, ils s'en allèrent chacun chez soi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃δεν ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ὅτι ἀπέθανεν Αβιμελεχ καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἀνὴρ εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Illoque mortuo, omnes qui cum eo erant de Israël, reversi sunt in sedes suas : (Ⅳ) - 55 ׃9 ויראו איש ישראל כי מת אבימלך וילכו איש למקמו (Ⅴ)

Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren:
- Ainsi Dieu fit retomber sur Abimélec le mal qu'il avait fait à son père, en tuant ses soixante-dix frères, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ θεὸς τὴν πονηρίαν Αβιμελεχ ἣν ἐποίησεν τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ ἀποκτει̃ναι τοὺς ἑβδομήκοντα ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - et reddidit Deus malum quod fecerat Abimelech contra patrem suum, interfectis septuaginta fratribus suis. (Ⅳ) - 56 ׃9 וישב אלהים את רעת אבימלך אשר עשה לאביו להרג את שבעים אחיו (Ⅴ)

And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
- et Dieu fit retomber sur la tête des gens de Sichem tout le mal qu'ils avaient fait. Ainsi s'accomplit sur eux la malédiction de Jotham, fils de Jerubbaal. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὴν πα̃σαν πονηρίαν ἀνδρω̃ν Συχεμ ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ θεὸς εἰς κεφαλὴν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐπη̃λθεν ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ἡ κατάρα Ιωαθαν υἱου̃ Ιεροβααλ (Ⅲ) - Sichimitis quoque quod operati erant, retributum est, et venit super eos maledictio Joatham filii Jerobaal. (Ⅳ) - 57 ׃9 ואת כל רעת אנשי שכם השיב אלהים בראשם ותבא אליהם קללת יותם בן ירבעל פ (Ⅴ)
