16. 1

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

- La dix-septième année de Pékach, fils de Remalia, Achaz, fils de Jotham, roi de Juda, régna. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν ἔτει ἑπτακαιδεκάτω̨ Φακεε υἱου̃ Ρομελιου ἐβασίλευσεν Αχαζ υἱὸς Ιωαθαμ βασιλέως Ιουδα (Ⅲ)

- Anno decimoseptimo Phacee filii Romeliæ, regnavit Achaz filius Joatham regis Juda. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃16 בשנת שבע עשרה שנה לפקח בן רמליהו מלך אחז בן יותם מלך יהודה ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 2

Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.

- Achaz avait vingt ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit point ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, son Dieu, comme avait fait David, son père. (Ⅱ)

- υἱὸς εἴκοσι ἐτω̃ν ἠ̃ν Αχαζ ἐν τω̨̃ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ ἑκκαίδεκα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησεν τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς κυρίου θεου̃ αὐτου̃ πιστω̃ς ὡς Δαυιδ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Viginti annorum erat Achaz cum regnare cœpisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Jerusalem. Non fecit quod erat placitum in conspectu Domini Dei sui sicut David pater ejus, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃16 בן עשרים שנה אחז במלכו ושש עשרה שנה מלך בירושלם ולא עשה הישר בעיני יהוה אלהיו כדוד אביו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 3

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

- Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël; et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, suivant les abominations des nations que l'Éternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδω̨̃ Ιεροβοαμ υἱου̃ Ναβατ βασιλέως Ισραηλ καί γε τὸν υἱὸν αὐτου̃ διη̃γεν ἐν πυρὶ κατὰ τὰ βδελύγματα τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν ὡ̃ν ἐξη̃ρεν κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- sed ambulavit in via regum Israël : insuper et filium suum consecravit, transferens per ignem secundum idola gentium, quæ dissipavit Dominus coram filiis Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃16 וילך בדרך מלכי ישראל וגם את בנו העביר באש כתעבות הגוים אשר הוריש יהוה אתם מפני בני ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 4

And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

- Il offrait des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐθυσίαζεν καὶ ἐθυμία ἐν τοι̃ς ὑψηλοι̃ς καὶ ἐπὶ τω̃ν βουνω̃ν καὶ ὑποκάτω παντὸς ξύλου ἀλσώδους (Ⅲ)

- Immolabat quoque victimas, et adolebat incensum in excelsis, et in collibus, et sub omni ligno frondoso.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃16 ויזבח ויקטר בבמות ועל הגבעות ותחת כל עץ רענן ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 5

Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

- Alors Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékach, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour l'attaquer. Ils assiégèrent Achaz; mais ils ne purent pas le vaincre. (Ⅱ)

- τότε ἀνέβη Ραασσων βασιλεὺς Συρίας καὶ Φακεε υἱὸς Ρομελιου βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ εἰς πόλεμον καὶ ἐπολιόρκουν ἐπὶ Αχαζ καὶ οὐκ ἐδύναντο πολεμει̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Tunc ascendit Rasin rex Syriæ, et Phacee filius Romeliæ rex Israël, in Jerusalem ad præliandum : cumque obsiderent Achaz, non valuerunt superare eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃16 אז יעלה רצין מלך ארם ופקח בן רמליהו מלך ישראל ירושלם למלחמה ויצרו על אחז ולא יכלו להלחם ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 6

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.

- Dans ce même temps, Retsin, roi de Syrie, fit rentrer Élath au pouvoir des Syriens; il expulsa d'Élath les Juifs, et les Syriens vinrent à Élath, où ils ont habité jusqu'à ce jour. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ ἐπέστρεψεν Ραασσων βασιλεὺς Συρίας τὴν Αιλαθ τη̨̃ Συρία̨ καὶ ἐξέβαλεν τοὺς Ιουδαίους ἐξ Αιλαθ καὶ Ιδουμαι̃οι ἠ̃λθον εἰς Αιλαθ καὶ κατώ̨κησαν ἐκει̃ ἕως τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης (Ⅲ)

- In tempore illo restituit Rasin rex Syriæ, Ailam Syriæ, et ejecit Judæos de Aila : et Idumæi venerunt in Ailam, et habitaverunt ibi usque in diem hanc.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃16 בעת ההיא השיב רצין מלך ארם את אילת לארם וינשל את היהודים מאילות *וארמים **ואדומים‪[k]‬ באו אילת וישבו שם עד היום הזה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 7

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

- Achaz envoya des messagers à Tiglath Piléser, roi d'Assyrie, pour lui dire: Je suis ton serviteur et ton fils; monte, et délivre-moi de la main du roi de Syrie et de la main du roi d'Israël, qui s'élèvent contre moi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Αχαζ ἀγγέλους πρὸς Θαγλαθφελλασαρ βασιλέα 'Ασσυρίων λέγων δου̃λός σου καὶ υἱός σου ἐγώ ἀνάβηθι καὶ σω̃σόν με ἐκ χειρὸς βασιλέως Συρίας καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς βασιλέως Ισραηλ τω̃ν ἐπανισταμένων ἐπ' ἐμέ (Ⅲ)

- Misit autem Achaz nuntios ad Theglathphalasar regem Assyriorum, dicens : Servus tuus, et filius tuus ego sum : ascende, et salvum me fac de manu regis Syriæ, et de manu regis Israël, qui consurrexerunt adversum me. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃16 וישלח אחז מלאכים אל תגלת פלסר מלך אשור לאמר עבדך ובנך אני עלה והושעני מכף מלך ארם ומכף מלך ישראל הקומים עלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 8

And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

- Et Achaz prit l'argent et l'or qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et il l'envoya en présent au roi d'Assyrie. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔλαβεν Αχαζ τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν θησαυροι̃ς οἴκου κυρίου καὶ οἴκου του̃ βασιλέως καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ δω̃ρα (Ⅲ)

- Et cum collegisset argentum et aurum quod inveniri potuit in domo Domini et in thesauris regis, misit regi Assyriorum munera. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃16 ויקח אחז את הכסף ואת הזהב הנמצא בית יהוה ובאצרות בית המלך וישלח למלך אשור שחד ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 9

And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

- Le roi d'Assyrie l'écouta; il monta contre Damas, la prit, emmena les habitants en captivité à Kir, et fit mourir Retsin. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤκουσεν αὐτου̃ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων καὶ ἀνέβη βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων εἰς Δαμασκὸν καὶ συνέλαβεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἀπώ̨κισεν αὐτὴν καὶ τὸν Ραασσων ἐθανάτωσεν (Ⅲ)

- Qui et acquievit voluntati ejus : ascendit enim rex Assyriorum in Damascum, et vastavit eam, et transtulit habitatores ejus Cyrenen : Rasin autem interfecit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃16 וישמע אליו מלך אשור ויעל מלך אשור אל דמשק ויתפשה ויגלה קירה ואת רצין המית ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 10

And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

- Le roi Achaz se rendit à Damas au-devant de Tiglath Piléser, roi d'Assyrie. Et ayant vu l'autel qui était à Damas, le roi Achaz envoya au sacrificateur Urie le modèle et la forme exacte de cet autel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη βασιλεὺς Αχαζ εἰς ἀπαντὴν τω̨̃ Θαγλαθφελλασαρ βασιλει̃ 'Ασσυρίων εἰς Δαμασκόν καὶ εἰ̃δεν τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐν Δαμασκω̨̃ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Αχαζ πρὸς Ουριαν τὸν ἱερέα τὸ ὁμοίωμα του̃ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ τὸν ῥυθμὸν αὐτου̃ εἰς πα̃σαν ποίησιν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Perrexitque rex Achaz in occursum Theglathphalasar regis Assyriorum in Damascum : cumque vidisset altare Damasci, misit rex Achaz ad Uriam sacerdotem exemplar ejus, et similitudinem juxta omne opus ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃16 וילך המלך אחז לקראת תגלת פלאסר מלך אשור דומשק וירא את המזבח אשר בדמשק וישלח המלך אחז אל אוריה הכהן את דמות המזבח ואת תבניתו לכל מעשהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 11

And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

- Le sacrificateur Urie construisit un autel entièrement d'après le modèle envoyé de Damas par le roi Achaz, et le sacrificateur Urie le fit avant que le roi Achaz fût de retour de Damas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν Ουριας ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸ θυσιαστήριον κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Αχαζ ἐκ Δαμασκου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Exstruxitque Urias sacerdos altare : juxta omnia quæ præceperat rex Achaz de Damasco, ita fecit sacerdos Urias donec veniret rex Achaz de Damasco. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃16 ויבן אוריה הכהן את המזבח ככל אשר שלח המלך אחז מדמשק כן עשה אוריה הכהן עד בוא המלך אחז מדמשק ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 12

And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.

- A son arrivée de Damas, le roi vit l'autel, s'en approcha et y monta: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸ θυσιαστήριον καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπ' αὐτὸ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venisset rex de Damasco, vidit altare, et veneratus est illud : ascenditque et immolavit holocausta et sacrificium suum, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃16 ויבא המלך מדמשק וירא המלך את המזבח ויקרב המלך על המזבח ויעל עליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 13

And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.

- il fit brûler son holocauste et son offrande, versa ses libations, et répandit sur l'autel le sang de ses sacrifices d'actions de grâces. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐθυμίασεν τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν αὐτου̃ καὶ τὴν θυσίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ τὴν σπονδὴν αὐτου̃ καὶ προσέχεεν τὸ αἱ̃μα τω̃ν εἰρηνικω̃ν τω̃ν αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον (Ⅲ)

- et libavit libamina, et fudit sanguinem pacificorum quæ obtulerat super altare. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃16 ויקטר את עלתו ואת מנחתו ויסך את נסכו ויזרק את דם השלמים אשר לו על המזבח ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 14

And he brought also the brazen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.

- Il éloigna de la face de la maison l'autel d'airain qui était devant l'Éternel, afin qu'il ne fût pas entre le nouvel autel et la maison de l'Éternel; et il le plaça à côté du nouvel autel, vers le nord. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τὸ χαλκου̃ν τὸ ἀπέναντι κυρίου καὶ προσήγαγεν ἀπὸ προσώπου του̃ οἴκου κυρίου ἀπὸ του̃ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ ἀπὸ του̃ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ οἴκου κυρίου καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸ ἐπὶ μηρὸν του̃ θυσιαστηρίου κατὰ βορρα̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Porro altare æreum quod erat coram Domino, transtulit de facie templi, et de loco altaris, et de loco templi Domini : posuitque illud ex latere altaris ad aquilonem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃16 ואת המזבח הנחשת אשר לפני יהוה ויקרב מאת פני הבית מבין המזבח ומבין בית יהוה ויתן אתו על ירך המזבח צפונה ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 15

And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brazen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

- Et le roi Achaz donna cet ordre au sacrificateur Urie: Fais brûler sur le grand autel l'holocauste du matin et l'offrande du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son offrande, les holocaustes de tout le peuple du pays et leurs offrandes, verses-y leurs libations, et répands-y tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des sacrifices; pour ce qui concerne l'autel d'airain, je m'en occuperai. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς Αχαζ τω̨̃ Ουρια τω̨̃ ἱερει̃ λέγων ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τὸ μέγα πρόσφερε τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν τὴν πρωινὴν καὶ τὴν θυσίαν τὴν ἑσπερινὴν καὶ τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν του̃ βασιλέως καὶ τὴν θυσίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν παντὸς του̃ λαου̃ καὶ τὴν θυσίαν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὴν σπονδὴν αὐτω̃ν καὶ πα̃ν αἱ̃μα ὁλοκαυτώσεως καὶ πα̃ν αἱ̃μα θυσίας ἐπ' αὐτὸ προσχεει̃ς καὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τὸ χαλκου̃ν ἔσται μοι εἰς τὸ πρωί (Ⅲ)

- Præcepit quoque rex Achaz Uriæ sacerdoti, dicens : Super altare majus offer holocaustum matutinum, et sacrificium vespertinum, et holocaustum regis, et sacrificium ejus, et holocaustum universi populi terræ, et sacrificia eorum, et libamina eorum : et omnem sanguinem holocausti, et universum sanguinem victimæ super illud effundes : altare vero æreum erit paratum ad voluntatem meam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃16 *ויצוהו **ויצוה המלך אחז את אוריה הכהן לאמר על המזבח הגדול הקטר את עלת הבקר ואת מנחת הערב ואת עלת המלך ואת מנחתו ואת עלת כל עם הארץ ומנחתם ונסכיהם וכל דם עלה וכל דם זבח עליו תזרק ומזבח הנחשת יהיה לי לבקר ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 16

Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

- Le sacrificateur Urie se conforma à tout ce que le roi Achaz avait ordonné. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησεν Ουριας ὁ ἱερεὺς κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐνετείλατο αὐτω̨̃ ὁ βασιλεὺς Αχαζ (Ⅲ)

- Fecit igitur Urias sacerdos juxta omnia quæ præceperat rex Achaz. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃16 ויעש אוריה הכהן ככל אשר צוה המלך אחז ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 17

And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brazen oxen that were under it, and put it upon the pavement of stones.

- Et le roi Achaz brisa les panneaux des bases, et en ôta les bassins qui étaient dessus. Il descendit la mer de dessus les boeufs d'airain qui étaient sous elle, et il la posa sur un pavé de pierres. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ συνέκοψεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Αχαζ τὰ συγκλείσματα τω̃ν μεχωνωθ καὶ μετη̃ρεν ἀπ' αὐτω̃ν τὸν λουτη̃ρα καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καθει̃λεν ἀπὸ τω̃ν βοω̃ν τω̃ν χαλκω̃ν τω̃ν ὑποκάτω αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν ἐπὶ βάσιν λιθίνην (Ⅲ)

- Tulit autem rex Achaz cælatas bases, et luterem qui erat desuper : et mare deposuit de bobus æreis qui sustentabant illud, et posuit super pavimentum stratum lapide. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃16 ויקצץ המלך אחז את המסגרות המכנות ויסר מעליהם *ואת **את הכיר ואת הים הורד מעל הבקר הנחשת אשר תחתיה ויתן אתו על מרצפת אבנים ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 18

And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.

- Il changea dans la maison de l'Éternel, à cause du roi d'Assyrie, le portique du sabbat qu'on y avait bâti et l'entrée extérieure du roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸν θεμέλιον τη̃ς καθέδρας ὠ̨κοδόμησεν ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου καὶ τὴν εἴσοδον του̃ βασιλέως τὴν ἔξω ἐπέστρεψεν ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου ἀπὸ προσώπου βασιλέως 'Ασσυρίων (Ⅲ)

- Musach quoque sabbati quod ædificaverat in templo : et ingressum regis exterius convertit in templum Domini propter regem Assyriorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃16 ואת *מיסך **מוסך השבת אשר בנו בבית ואת מבוא המלך החיצונה הסב בית יהוה מפני מלך אשור ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 19

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

- Le reste des actions d'Achaz, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τω̃ν λόγων Αχαζ ὅσα ἐποίησεν οὐχὶ ταυ̃τα γεγραμμένα ἐπὶ βιβλίω̨ λόγων τω̃ν ἡμερω̃ν τοι̃ς βασιλευ̃σιν Ιουδα (Ⅲ)

- Reliqua autem verborum Achaz quæ fecit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Juda ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃16 ויתר דברי אחז אשר עשה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה ‬ (Ⅴ)

16. 20

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

- Achaz se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Et Ézéchias, son fils, régna à sa place. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Αχαζ μετὰ τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν πόλει Δαυιδ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Εζεκιας υἱὸς αὐτου̃ ἀντ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dormivitque Achaz cum patribus suis, et sepultus est cum eis in civitate David : et regnavit Ezechias filius ejus pro eo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃16 וישכב אחז עם אבתיו ויקבר עם אבתיו בעיר דוד וימלך חזקיהו בנו תחתיו פ‬ (Ⅴ)
